Reviews for Byzantion Hotel
Review 1:The hotel is a great place to stay in Mystras! The staff is very nice and helpful (and I was sick for part of the week, too). The facilities are in good shape, and the breakfast is good. I would stay here again!
Review 2:It was like a large home, with inviting lounge and garden. When the bus did not arrive to take us to our next destination, the owner drove us to Sparta so we could make our connection. An electrical outage occurred the second day we were there and the staff carried on very well, doing what they could for breakfast.
Review 3:Great view of the mountain range and early morning view of sun on the buildings of Mystra from the balcony of my room (single room). Staff were very welcoming and helpfull, it almost had a family atmosphere. Included breakfast buffet was varied, including a wide variety of teas. Lovely garden which gets sun from say 9am till 4:30pm (October) with lounging chairs and a pool. Overall a very pleasant stay and I extended my stay once there after visiting Mystra, to lounge in the garden area and read a book. Room was quiet once main doors closed, even the rooms facing the street (and view of Mystra), and the room was kept very clean. Fresh towels and sheets, etc etc. Highly Recommended.
Review 4:The furniture could be changed it's a little bit old but everything else was great.
Review 5:Place is nice, nothing fancy but clean and with a lot of space in the rooms. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was fine. Perfect location, pretty good overall.
Review 6:Our double room was very small, but think there are larger ones to be had.
Review 7:Handy location on main village square and for visiting Mystra. Nice garden and pool.
Review 8:Facing the Central square and at night very noisy
Review 9:The hotel is located in the city centre, has its own Parking,a beautiful pool, great breakfasts,Internet access and air conditioning in the room
Review 10:Lovely friendly people in a delightful location, handy for Mystras in the morning. Opposite, a perfectly decent restaurant and bar, correctly serving Mythos (the only beer one should consider in Greece). Breakfast in the garden was utterly idyllic and the village is lovely and quiet and such a break from the grand tourist locations. We need to spend a month here! Oh and plenty of space to park the car in their car park.
Review 11:The hotel is beautiful. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Easily accessible and plenty of convenient parking. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Our hosts were extremely hospitable and welcoming.
Review 12:Though minor remark, at least 15 stairs to carry your suitcase before coming to lobby. Though at least there is an elevator inside
Review 13:Good breakfast, swimming pool, location near the ancient town, quietness, not too many guests, big room, balcony, free parking
Review 14:Wifi unreliable. Toilet cistern didn't work properly.
Review 15:Good location to visit Mystras site. Nice breakfast. Good view of old Mystras site from room.
Review 16:The location of the hotel was perfect for an overnight stay and to explore Mistra. Staff were friendly and the room spacious and very clean. Breakfast was very good indeed. The pool was a real bonus after a hot days drive. Would definitely recommend.
Review 17:AC did NOT work. No response from hotel staff other than to say, "yes, I think the AC in that room is not working"
Review 18:Good location. Pool nice. Town nice
Review 19:Not enough room to put our luggage.
Review 20:Good location in the town center, but still quiet. Breakfast was very good. The pool is nice, but lacks enough sunbeds.
Review 21:Have breakfast kate at around 9 am. Only bits of scramble egg (Since 7 am) and 3 peaces of 2 cm long susages left. when I requested hotel to provide more eggs and susages, I was askec to finish up the left overs instead. I told thd gentleman to eat it himself. What a dump.
Review 22:Location. Close to historical site
Review 23:Easy walking distance to castle. Generous breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Good wifi. Nice pool and garden. Nice balcony with view of the castle. Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 24:We emailed property and were confirmed connecting rooms, yet upon arrival we were given adjoining rooms.
Review 25:Great location next to Mystras, lovely little town, clean rooms, good breakfast.
Review 26:We go back to this hotel every year. This is everything we need for a relaxing couple of days in the mountains. Breakfast is great, the rooms are clean and comfortable, by the pool you will find deck chairs and enough shade if the sun gets to intense. The owners are awesome people and they value their guests. Across the street is a restaurant and a coffee shop where we normally eat lunch and dinner. Around the corner is a great gifts shop, a little supermarket and a pharmacy. What more do you need???
Review 27:Wi-fi is a bit weak.
Review 28:VERY friendly owners, (good English), nice assortment of travellers staying at the hotel, amazing breakfast. The balconies are a great location to admire Mystras and the mountains. Nice pool.
Review 29:Lovely room with balcony overlooking ancient Mystra. Breakfast was nice, ability to squeeze you own orange juice a nice touch. Pleasant garden with a pool.
Review 30:This was the best hotel we stayed in in our whole trip around the Peloponnese. Perfect location, great restaurants nearby. The family that run it are wonderful.
Review 31:There are steep stairs from the sidewalk up to the lobby. Since we chose this hotel because it had a lift, these stairs were a nasty surprise. Balcony is quite small and our view of the Mystras was through a pole with loads of electric lines *room 108.
Review 32:Comfortable quiet hotel with good beds, large bath, excellent breakfast with DIY fresh orange juice and the usual, plus homemade sweets (cakes, etc.) WiFi worked well. There is a lift from lobby/breakfast to the rooms and 1st & 2nd floors. Room are nicely equipped with desk, nightstands, closet with plenty of shelves and hangers, mini-fridge and safe. Good lighting.
Review 33:Not a thing!!
Review 34:Every day, without fail, everyone had a smile on their faces. If you needed any assistance or information of the area the details and help were there.
Review 35:Hotel is immediately adjacent to main street of Mystras, a little noisy during the day but o.k. at night.
Review 36:Kind and helpful people, convenient parking, clean and comfortable room with nice view, good value.
Review 37:very crowded room, it made it difficult to get around bed to go to the bathroom. The beds were uncomfortable & it really needs an update. They were sanding & painting the outside so made dust in our room.
Review 38:the location
Review 39:Lack of heating despite the weather being very cold. Inititial request had the response that there was nothing that could be done as it was warm weather the day before. Heating was put on that evening but turned off in the morning even though weather remained cold.
Review 40:Air conditioning had been switched off so our room was very hot at night. Swimming pool had leaf debris in it so we weren't sure how clean it was.
Review 41:Near the ancient site of Mystras. lovely views from our balcony and other hotel balconies. Good choice of reasonably priced tavernas nearby. Helpful staff. Parking at the hotel.
Review 42:The bathrooms in the rooms are small. Not a problem, but do not expect a wonderfull bath.
Review 43:The hotel is in Mistras village, a lovely place. They serve a good breakfest, the Wi-fi is pretty good, the balcony provides a wonderfull sightseeing of Mistra Village and the whole region. The bedrooms are simple but confortable. It is a excelent cost-benefit.The staff is very friendly and helpfull. I recomend.
Review 44:Nothing.
Review 45:A good view from our room, up to the spectacular fortress. The pool and garden are good for recovery after exploring the old city. Breakfast was very good and staff were very helpful.
Review 46:Nothing but you will need your own car to visit the ruins.
Review 47:Good rooms and breakfast.Laundry possible here(can be quite difficult in Greece).Plenty of parking.
Review 48:The room is small, the balcony smaller and the bathroom whilst spacious is more because so much space is wasted not through any planning. The lift barely takes two people and bags must wait. The castle is way off in the distance and the tour buses roll by right underneath the rooms almost all of which are " castle view" which means "on the main drag". The nearby restaurants are tourist traps and Mystras is probably best done in an hour or so and then move on leaving the old Byzantium king and this tired hotel to their respective slumbers.
Review 49:A litmus test for an hotel is when they put their name in individual lights outside how many are alight. At the Byzantion is was just ZANTIO. The rest were dark. That is how tired it is . You just feel it is all too much for the owners and staff. Yes it is cheap, what do you get for €45 these days ? Not much and that is what you get here. Not much. It is in the centre of town , it does have a pool but it is a bit dirty and to be fair the breakfast outside on the veranda is okay and the girls helping are friendly. But you just feel the place needs a shake up and a new broom.
Review 50:Mystras is great. Hotel is largest building in the village, but still small calm and friendly. Breakfast is nice. Pool not huge but relaxing after heat of the day. Recommended. Not super posh, but just what we needed. And great value.
Review 51:It was a bit 'tired' although it had recently been done up. But for the price it was excellent value.
Review 52:Breakfast was good and varied and there was a lovely garden and pool (although we didn't have a chance to use either). A great hotel for the price.
Review 53:Breakfast is spartan, but in the end you are in Sparta!
Review 54:My second stay at Byzantion. Old-fashioned greek sixties family-run hotel. Great view of the medieval village. Right in the centre of the modern village of Mystra next to a great tavern. Pleasant pool. Highly recommended.
Review 55:We had made a reservation for a family room. We were given two rooms en suite, which was fine. However, one of the rooms had very little space to manoeuvre in.
Review 56:The hotel is nicely situated; the pool is lovely; we enjoyed their continental breakfast. It's not a fancy hotel, but definitely your money's worth.
Review 57:Air conditioner in the room was hopeless in the heat. The room was very small for the price charged, especially the tiny bathroom. Very ordinary breakfast. Wifi rather a hit and miss affair.
Review 58:Swimming pool was welcome butthe filter was never on so the water was full of debris and dead bugs. Great view from balcony.
Review 59:one of our triple beds was very small as it was a double room with an added bed, I had called in advance to double check the rooms and make sure they had the correct rooming, still when we got there it was wrong... rooms on the front are a bit noisy.
Review 60:nice swimming pool
Review 61:The room was clean and comfortable with modern amenities. The hotel had a nice pool, which made my kids quite happy! The location was perfect for visiting Mistras early in the morning. And there was a nice breakfast buffet, which was included in the price of the room, that also helped get us off to an early start. The hotel had a small parking lot with trees that offered shade. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We checked out in the morning and went to tour Mistras. In the afternoon we returned to town for lunch and the owner let us park in their lot and even invited us to use the pool again if we wanted!
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:Perfectly placed with views up at the Byzantine city of Mystras. Reasonable breakfast and great setting. Nice pool area once one has climbed the formidable ruins to the castle on top.
Review 64:The man who checked us in was not very freindly but luckily the lady in the morning made up for it.
Review 65:THe location of this hotel is just superb and the views amazing. We arrived after a long hot day of driving and it was so nice to park ourselves by the pool and relax. Cute town with a taverna across the street which was delicious then a quick drive to the site of mystras. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for our big walk.
Review 66:I just love this hotel, the staff and the little town of Mystras. Better value for money you wont find in this area. Great breakfast and pool with deck chairs. Across the road is a great restaurant and coffee shop, where we ate lunch and dinner everyday. Mystras is a must see.
Review 67:Nothing!
Review 68:Older, graceful hotel, situated in the center of Mistra, with excellent views of the castle and the historic Mistra hillside. Breakfast was good and there is a pool.
Review 69:Wonderful proprietors and staff. Large, clean rooms with spectacular views and large balconies. In the mountains but with easy access to civilization as well as to the medieval site of Mystra. Nice breakfast, swimming pool, wi-fi that actually works.
Review 70:Large, comfortable, clean rooms. Beautiful views from the balconies
Review 71:Worst wifi ever. We had twin beds instead of a double bed.
Review 72:Friendly staff and Nice breakfast. Quiet. Nice decoration and very clean.
Review 73:Friendly staff, great views from the balconies and nice garden pool area
Review 74:The breakfest was lovely and you can enjoy it on a nice terras. The family how runs the hotel is welcoming. The view on the ruins was amazing.
