Reviews for Quinns Hotel
Review 1:The hotel was quite shabby but as we were only there for one night it didn't matter.
Review 2:The staff were helpful and friendly. Being able to park the car on the premises was a bonus. Good value.
Review 3:Very basic room. Place desperately needs redecoration. Shower was hot but poor water flow.
Review 4:Richmond is great. It was on a quiet road and was quiet at night.
Review 5:The facilities were in very poor condition and there was mouthwash and coffee in our sink. The bathrooms were not very clean and the door closer collided with the wardrobe door so you good not open it properly. The paint was peeling off of the walls and the breakfast was extremely limited and substandard at best. Overall we were very disappointed.
Review 6:We really liked the location and the fact tea and coffee facilities were provided.
Review 7:Bit noisy with other guests - one sounded as though he would cough his lungs up and another was trying to watch television whilst totally deaf!
Review 8:Reasonable facilities and warm feel.
Review 9:Surfaces of bedside table etc were sticky. Whole place was grubby and in desperate need of renovation. Shower was a scalding hot dribble and cold water didn't work. Next door was so noist (tv etc) you could hear the din in reception, but nobody bothered to even ask him/her to turn it down. Room stifling hot and very stuffy. Would not recommend, even if desperate.
Review 10:Within walking distance of railway station and shopping centre. Real milk with coffee at breakfast. Continental breakfast was cereal, toast and tea/coffee from a machine.
Review 11:Very tired accommodation, breakfast was very basic. I would not have been happy paying full rate for the room
Review 12:Service was good, location ideal for our needs, free car parking was benefit for a London hotel
Review 13:Walking in the hotel stank of poo - sorry, no other word for it - think warm sewage. The room we had did not have its own bathroom. The showers were appalling. Beds horribly uncomfortable and toilet half broken.
Review 14:Nothing - appalling Hotel - avoid at all costs
Review 15:One member of staff that thought it was ok not to apologise for thechamber maid (if you call just folding towels and not even making thebed or giving us clean mugs a chamber maid?) left our window wide openafter taking a very stinking number 2 in our toilet and leaving theremnense in the toilet as we was out on a training course all day. Thensaid he and her was the only 2 members of staff in all day on a Saturdayand just replied I don't know what to say! An applogie wouldn'tgo a miss to which he just shrugged his shoulders!
Review 16:The price
Review 17:Old fashioned general decor but my room was pleasant and clean. Breakfast was poor the choice being cereal, yoghurt, orange juice, toast and make your own tea or coffee - that's it!
Review 18:Staff are helpful and friendly
Review 19:Only a few parking spaces on site, so had to drive around for ages looking for a parking spot at 10pm. Carpet was absolutely disgusting and had brown stains everywhere. Mattress was terrible and about 20 years old. Had to leave the bathroom door open to sit on the toilet, and had to sit sideways without falling into the bath....
Review 20:The location as it was near to where we had to walk to each day. The fact we got a no quibble refund for 2 of the nights as we checked out early to go to a different hotel....
Review 21:Entreance had some steps nothing to hold on to. There is step at front door panted red same as path did not see it in the dark nearly fell out of door, the other two steps were red as well made it hard to see in dark
Review 22:Staff were lovely very obliging, Bed was clean comfortable, Good selection of tea & coffee in the room
Review 23:Threadbare carpet.curtain useless.chest of drawers fell to bits.old rickety single glazed window did nothing to keep out the 24/7 aircraft noise.shower frame was absolutely filthy and should be condemned
Review 24:Good bed reasonable breakfast staff friendly ok facilities.
Review 25:Room need a lick of paint. Bathroom tiles needed re doing silicone all mouldy
Review 26:Location fab staff friendly all questions answered. Nothing was an issue to them
Review 27:No lift, scruffy in various places, cooked breakfast would have been good, needs a big improvement overhaul generally.
Review 28:Staff helpful, 24 hour reception, and the price was better than others
Review 29:All rooms are near the road and the windows are old. So in the evening the car noise is so loud that it's very hard for me to get asleep. The room is not clean.
Review 30:The location is not bad. Just near the center.
Review 31:The rooms were not very clean and the water temperature in the shower was so hot as to be unusable. I had a bath instead. The beds were clean and comfortable though.
Review 32:The staff were really friendly and told us we were paying too much and reduced the rate of the room accordingly. They also gave us a lot of information about local attractions.
Review 33:Building in need of a good refurb. Breakfast lady was late so no toast, said continental breakfast but it's cereal yogurt toast when available. No chees or meats. Disappointing for price
Review 34:The staff where friendly and helpful
Review 35:We booked an en suite double, the bathroom left a lot to be desired! The tiling had mould, the toilet seat was wonky and moved when you sat on it, very old bathroom! The sink was cracked in several places! The window was filthy! It wasn't a room that you would want to spend a lot of time in, but as I've said, it was cheap so if your looking for a room with a bed and your not particularly bothered about how it looks, then you won't have a problem.
Review 36:It was cheap but you do get what you pay for!
Review 37:No cold water in the shower, Couldnt have a cook breakfast as its not for people living in the hotel.... very strange
Review 38:Convenient for my wedding venue .... Cambridge cottage, kew gardens.
Review 39:If you can afford it go to a better hotel. This has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The bathroom was like something out of a 70s prison, the toilet stunk - think a toilet in a taxi cab office. The whole hotel smelled. Breakfast room was in the basement. A continental breakfast. No fresh fruit. Yoghurts which smelt off. Only orange juice to drink if you didn't want tea or coffee and toast. Happy shopper muesli cornflakes and bran flakes.
Review 40:I really can't think of anything apart from the bed was quite comfortable.
Review 41:Mattress was rather uncomfortable.
Review 42:The hotel is lovely and central for Richmond town centre and surprisingly quiet for its main road location. Easy access to bus routes and railway station make it ideal for travelling about. The room was comfortable and the staff very helpful.
Review 43:The Hotel is run down Starting with the thorn carpet, Bathroom Tiles broken and black Shower must have been rosted, barely overpainted, TV not working, Breakfast poor Staff not friendly
Review 44:Nothing
Review 45:Very dirty, old, tired and needing a lot of updating. Carpets were appalling, the bathroom dirty and rundown. The shower was unusable. The bed, chair, carpet and walls had stains on. We both hated our stay at the Quinns - will not be going back.
Review 46:No real bad experience but bathroom very small.
Review 47:Good check in times and excellent check out time. Plenty of teas & coffees etc in room. Very comfortable bed. Excellent continental breakfast, included in price.
Review 48:Room carpets, although clean, are stained and need replacing. The shower heads need replacing as the water sprays at different angles - good pressure and plenty of hot water though.
Review 49:Great staff. Very comfortable beds - neither too soft nor too hard. Excellent & healthy breakfast. Nice lounge area for group or family gathering and drinks. Brilliant location.
Review 50:Poor shower pressure, had to bath.
Review 51:Location. No fuss, no frills. Was clean and charming in its own slightly eccentric way. After reading other reviews I thought it would be dreadful but it was cheap and good value for money.
Review 52:The hotel as a whole! A particular low was the rank carpets and the vile dirty walls!
Review 53:The Facilities were a joke as were the staff. Did not have a shower that worked and when question about it staff said yeah I know. Please don't ever stay at this hotel!!!!
Review 54:Not many plug sockets. Light held on with gaffer tape. When aeroplanes went over, the tv flickered.
Review 55:Bed comfortable. Felt secure. Staff bought me some gluten free bread and soya milk.
Review 56:Room 1 - en-suite facilities very cramped and very dim lighting. One towel rail was snapped. However I did not report these as I had to leave for an early train
Review 57:Private; Convenient and quiet. Continental breakfast was all that was needed. I never need a 'full english' and the breakfast option was clearly indicated in the booking description.
Review 58:Bathroom very dirty, didn't use as it was in bad repair and very dirty. There was nowhere to put toiletries when using the sink. Also the TV didn't work properly it had a set top Ariel which we had to keep moving to watch a programme, we gave up in the end, we ended up hanging it over the clothes rail. The whole place needs re- decorating and modernising, even though it's in the London area there is no way this was worth £70, the choice of continental breakfast was poor, we had to have a breakfast at the supermarket, overall very disappointed !
Review 59:Convenient parking and bed comfy !
Review 60:The 2 shower rooms were unusable. My room was not en suite. One shower had no working light so could not be used. The other shower had a trickle of cold water and loads of boiling hot water hence you could not shower. Had to have a thorough wash.
Review 61:Room and carpet has seen better days but the bed was comfortable and clean. Overall a budget hotel, but still not sure you get what you paid for. Staff were very good
Review 62:The whole place is tied and in desperate need of maintenance. The TV was so small you could hardly see it and reception was very poor. WiFi is only available in the lounge and not in the rooms.
Review 63:Close proximately to the train station and the centre of town.
Review 64:Door slamming in the night from other guests and also had a noiesy guest next door, walls were thin.
Review 65:Great, comfortable room. Everything was lean. Nie staff. Homely atmosphere. Great location and great value for money.
Review 66:Miserable greeting at reception. Rooms badly in need of some renovation. Noisy due to traffic and neighbouring rooms so not good nights sleep. Lower cost than many hotels in the area but fur good reason.
Review 67:Closely located to Richmond town and station.
Review 68:The gentleman on reception is a bit blunt and direct with customers. Needs to smile a little more!
Review 69:Comfortable bed and the location is great for walking into Richmond or a nice longer walk to kew gardens.
Review 70:it is grubby of a very low standard, carpets worn, curtains not meeting etc. although it was reasonable as British prices go, we found it was not up to any quality standard. It is not a hotel but a glorified hostel. we didn't have a stunning view as we were in the basement
Review 71:The room furniture and walls seemed not to be very clean. Wifi was only available in the common room, and the signal was not good. TV signal interrupted intermitently due to the antenna system.
Review 72:The price is cheap and its ubication is good as it is close to Richmond railway station. Correct personal attention.
Review 73:Unfortunately the interior decor is very shabby throughout and really needs decorating. The carpets are filthy! Disgusting. A real shame as this could be a really nice hotel. Disappointed.
Review 74:Excellent location near Richmond town centre. Close to all ameneties.
Review 75:Rather lousy and not very clean, although it can be worse, too. Much noise in the morning, coming from doors slamming in the building. They starded cleaning as early as 8 in the morning, and I suppose much noise came from that. Sometimes doors slammed at night, too.
Review 76:Nice, big and bright room. Big, comfortable bed. Nice and warm.
Review 77:Although the rooms are kept clean, they are grubby and outdated and would benefit a makeover.
Review 78:Location is excellent - close to richmond centre and trainlines.
Review 79:Everything else. Supposed to be a 3* hotel. Internet pictures are nothing like the reality. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. If you want more info I took pictures.
Review 80:Location
Review 81:Everywhere was slightly worn and shabby. But you forgive that because of the great price.
Review 82:The price is great value for money and the location is perfect for Richmond and also very near to the station.
Review 83:The carpets in the room could be better . Toilet needs to be refurbished .
Review 84:Very friendly and helpful staff . Location very good for Rugby WC game at Twickenham .
Review 85:Our twin room was in old part of hotel, carpet stained, fittings dated and tired, bathroom dark and outdated with corroded toilet and shower fittments
Review 86:Location and price
Review 87:The room was not nice and the bathroom was hopeless. Was looking forward to English breakfast but was like a big zero on breakfast :(
Review 88:The location was very nice,it was near Twickenham Rugby Statuim
Review 89:Everything, extremely mouldy en suite with loose fittings, poor plumbing , threadbare carpet, minute tv less than adequate breakfast
Review 90:Close to town centre
Review 91:Disappointed with the overall tired look of the hotel. Many carpets were in need of re -newing as they were coming away from the floor. The electrics of the hotel in general were in my opinion dangerous. Plugs were hanging out of the walls. Leads were hanging from everywhere. Double adapters were overloaded including being attached to extension leads. . Also the bedroom itself was 'sitting ' on top of the bathroom. This was neither hygienic nor pleasant.
Review 92:the location was excellent for all transport
Review 93:Smell of cat's urine at the front door. Badly soiled carpet in our bedroom. Dangerous breaking away of floor covering on steps on first floor level.(would probably not pass Fire Regulations) Poor breakfast choice of food - just serial and toast. Badly stained wall covering at the area of our breakfast table and carpet by the self service bar lifting and in poor condition.
Review 94:Location for our needs. Friendly staff, and helpful in returning property we accidentally left behind. We were very grateful for the hotel's policy of no charge for these items as the postage was below a certain cost. The bed linen and towels were clean and the bed comfortable.
Review 95:The flooring is filthy, the buns were full of rubbish, the doors / security didn't feel secure. The shared toilet moved and wasn't secured to the floor as well as only one of the showers working. It was cheap but for the condition it should have been cheaper.
Review 96:Getting a little tired in some areas and the TV was hopeless, could do with better breakfast options.
Review 97:As a crashpad whilst working in the area it was fine. Double room at a good price. Very close to where I was working so very convenient.
Review 98:There was a horrible smell of damp in the hallway, thankfully it was not in our room! The breakfast was just toast and cereal, very basic....
Review 99:The location is excellent! The bed was very comfortable..
Review 100:Breakfast and breakfast room/ambience was very dull. Tap was loose in bathroom and was not easy to wash without water everywhere. (Room 4) Little sound insulation from outside. (you are under the flight path and road noise intrudes badly).
Review 101:Free car parking is a huge bonus in London. The fact that there are tea and coffee facilities in the room at this price is also good. 24 hour reception may be handy for some and the underground/over ground is literally 5 mins walk. 10 min walk from delightful Richmond High Street with coffee shops and spread of restaurants.
Review 102:This hotel is in dire need of refurbishing. Torn lino, worn out carpets. The place is filthy, the bed very hard, the plug holes in sink and bath had dubious black scum round them. The carpet in the bedroom was filthy, would not stand in bare feet.Staff surly, particularly in reception.
Review 103:Leaving.
Review 104:The inside the hotel needs refurbishing, such as the bathroom (although fully functional), and the breakfast has only 2 types of selection (cereal and/or toasts) - but staff is all friendly and polite!
Review 105:The location was super convenient and the cost of stay could be better but in such a prime location in fairly expensive place... I would be staying again.
Review 106:General shabbiness, musty smell, floor coverings worn. "Continental Breakfast" without cheese or meats or pastries.
Review 107:Good location, car parking, bed comfort.
Review 108:Found the gentleman in charge quite rude, and not helpful at all. When asked for assistance everything was too much trouble, which was strange as you had to pay, at the beginning of your stay, which unusual these days.
Review 109:The closeness to station, cafés, shops and tourist attractions
Review 110:It was very noise from the outside road. The shower quibicle was too small for even normal size people. The TV was too small and difficult to operate. One of the desk wadrobe was broken. The telephone in the room was out of the order. The carfet on the floor was very old and dirty which needed to be changed. The curtoon was also very old and dirty, tored partly and difficult to draw.
Review 111:I liked the big twin room and beds were comfortable and bed sheets were very clean& soft. :-)
Review 112:the rooms are incredibly dated, my room had wires coming from the ceiling and then hanging behind a picture on the wall, the light fitting was hanging off, the carpet was threadbare in places. it looked like it was from the 1970`s and desperately needs work
Review 113:The bathroom hadn't seen bleach or a cleaner for a long time. The carpet and walls were dirty and the room had a constant smell of mold and damp. Would of liked breakfast, though no toast was available and what was available was cereal, yoghurt and juice only!
Review 114:Location is great.
Review 115:Staff were swearing upon leaving, regarding some work difficulties. When we arrived reluctant to show us our room. Standard of room was poor, overpriced for the quality of the room, needs refurbishment.
Review 116:Stuffy hot room, had to open window, traffic noise and drunks arguing outside kept us awake most of the night. Very awkward to get into the ensuite as toilet positioned opposite door room 39
Review 117:The location and if I'd needed free wifi. Continental breakfast included
Review 118:Breakfast could have included some fruit. Perhaps some boiled eggs too? Dining room could do with new carpet and lick of paint.
Review 119:Location, parking available.
Review 120:the building was in a very poor state, whilst this was addressed on the booking by a statement that renovations were ongoing, it did not prepare me for the dark and dingy welcome to the top floor room we were in. The ensuite facility was a travesty, the floor was temp chipboard under the toilet stall and the toilet brush was disgusting, it would've been better if there wasn't one. The shower was a disgrace the tiles were almost clean but the limescale sludge on the shower controls was inexcusable. The basin was a disgrace and the plughole had obviously never seen a scourer or bleach. My teenage daughter refused to have a shower as the screen looked unsafe and the whole experience was so off putting we went to MacDonalds rather than sit in our room, and as the TV had no reception /aerial we felt cheated and let down.
Review 121:the bedding was clean
Review 122:The entire hotel needs a revamp and is not very clean but nothing bad to say about the linen then that was enough for me. And when you see what other hotels ask for price then i did not have too much choice and was still value for money.
Review 123:The location is excellent and the free parking is just what we needed as to stay all day for business. Breakfast even if simple is very fresh.
Review 124:The location is lovely and the free parking puts one's mind at rest.
Review 125:The pipes are getting old and get noisy. This is an inconvenience which can be tolerated with regard to the price. It is one of the hotels in the area which is affordable.
Review 126:- First room didn't lock - Non-smoking room smelt like a cigarette factory - Very dated and not what you expect in Richmond Hill - Wifi only available in small lounge area
Review 127:- Receptionist friendly and sorted out room issue
Review 128:Very old t.v. in room. Had to get help from guy on Reception to get the thing working properly! Very old 'relay' system! The shower in bathroom was ok but could definitely have had more pressure.
Review 129:The breakfast of toast and coffee suited me fine, plus the coffee was very good and guests are free to have as many cups of coffee or tea as they wanted. Also, the women working in the Dining Room, on both mornings of my stay, were very friendly.
Review 130:The room was in desperate need of re carpeting new curtains - general state of decoration. The bathroom was in need of total replacement and floor dirty in places. Not all staff particularly helpful or pleasant.
Review 131:The location was good and reluctantly based on cost of accommodation was relatively cheap.
Review 132:TV in room had very poor reception and Wifi very limited. Car parking was available but full of builders vans and overloaded rubbish skip bin left uncovered.
Review 133:Location was perfect for my requirements and Buses, Train, & Underground close by. Suburb is nice and people very friendly and food & pubs in abundance.
Review 134:Basil wasn't on reception and there was no Spanish waiter to escort us to our room.
Review 135:You're going to love this place if you like Fawlty Towers. Carpets are worn, vinyl is rotting, bathroom tiles are cracked, shower risers are not secure, shower screens are not sealed, mold is all over the place, holes are not polyfilled correctly, walls and floors are not cleaned, extractor fans are full of gunk, doors have holes in them, telephone junction boxes are not fixed to the wall thus dangerously exposing screws to walk on... quite simply it's an astonishing place. Breakfast is limited to orange juice, tea/coffee, low-fat yoghurt and a few pieces of toast. There's nothing cooked as apparently it goes against the owner's religious beliefs. Fantastic customer service!
Review 136:Free WiFi would be nice but not essential. There is definitely space for no-frills hotels in Richmond (well, anywhere in London).
Review 137:Excellent price for location. Free breakfast included. Basic but but all you need for a couple of nights (or longer, so long as you can entertain yourself away from the hotel).
Review 138:The hotel is in need of a makeover, paint and a good deep clean, as it is tired in places.
Review 139:Comfortable bed, clean bedding and towels, and great location near the train station and easy to walk to anywhere in Richmond. Ok for our needs as we only needed to be there to sleep. Not very good if you want a hotel to relax in.
Review 140:Room was very dated carpet threadbare, bathroom needed refurbishment and general overhaul.Different
Review 141:Great location for Richmond and Kews local bars etc.
Review 142:Wifi signal not that great, I had to sit right by reception! Not many TV channels have a signal.
Review 143:Perfect location for what I needed, a comfortable bed and nice staff. The breakfast was also good (yes it's a limited choice but still nice and it's included in what's a great price for a hotel in London), I was happy with it. The room was quite spacious too.
Review 144:very drab decor, needs renovation, dirty carpet, many things not working properly in room, shower head broken, holes and patches in the walls.......on and on
Review 145:location......that's about it.......
The Fine Print
Quinns Hotel is currently undergoing major refurbishment. This is not affecting any internal areas too much, as work is mostly confined to the new floor and roof.
