Reviews for Dukes Head Inn

Review 1:There is no lift for heavy suitcases; low water pressure on top floor; lack of privacy when passing thru main door of Inn due bar is at main entrance

Review 2:Very friendly staff->staff went out of her way to print my flight requirements, as I have requested; very good location, close to train station, shopping area, church and gardens.

Review 3:Not a bad experience but the shower/bathroom was rather small, the taps on the bedroom basin were not easy to operate. And the early planes using Heathrow -6a.m. A third runway could make it a lot worse.

Review 4:Large room, comfy bed , excellent breakfast, free parking. Convenience for the station , and the road to Brixton. Very helpful staff.

Review 5:No hairdryer in room, shower not very good, window had beer mats stopping it from rattling, TV remote did not turn off set had to switch off at plug.

Review 6:Breakfast

Review 7:Bed was not comfortable-Pillows too hard and no choice. Mattress uncomfortable.

Review 8:Helpful arrival. Pleasant member of staff who helped advise on parking. Nice warm room.

Review 9:Requested parking and accessable room due to disability, put on the 2ndfloor, said parking available, 2 possibly 3 taken by staff ! The roomitself was large with Kingsize and single bed, old sprung mattress noprotector, no fitted sheet, old blankets not quilt, the stained carpetshadn't seen a hoover in recent times ! the shower room hadn'tseen the cleaner since being re tiled a decade ago ! the shower due tocaked limescale was a trickle, banging of doors from early risingcontractors ! breakfast in the bar met by a waitress who seemed put outwe'd arrived with no set table, breakfast edible but not great !how this place ever got a review of + 7 is unbelievable ! Unfortunatelypre payment leaves your hands tied, seems cheap, certainly not valuefor money ?

Review 10:The neighbourhood, reasonable distance to Richmond High Street.

Review 11:Staff were very good. Facility old,and needs an overhaul. Room cramped, and uncomfortable. I was bitten by bed-bugs. I did not have a choice, because of the Rugby World Cup, accommodation was hard to come by..the Owner certainly charged accordingly If you have a choice stay somewhere else.

Review 12:Location, and TV coverage of sporting events.

Review 13:Room needs some love, all manner of stains and bathroom showing it's age. Not enough to dissuade me staying again, but enough to slightly lower the rating.

Review 14:Stayed for a couple of matches during the Rugby World Cup - the location could not have been better for that, easily walkable to Twickenham (~40mins), ~10mins to the town centre/station, but in itself in on a quiet road. Staff were efficient, friendly and were flexible to my needs. Room size and amenities to be expected.

Review 15:Shower with poor pressure, reheated breakfast (no freshly made, cold toasts), lack of chair in the room.

Review 16:The style (pub/inn), size of room, good bed, quiet and good location.

Review 17:Water pressure at shower head was quite weak on third floor. Bathroom could stand an updating.

Review 18:Pub food was great. Great breakfast. Great access to Heathrow airport.

Review 19:The 1-way system made it hard to locate the one remaining parking space outside the hotel.

Review 20:Nice beer. Comfortable room. Food portions were generous. Value for money reasonable by London standards.

Review 21:Rooms just a little bit tired but fine

Review 22:Great location very friendly staff. Homely feel to a cracking pub. Excellent food and ale at reasonable prices. Will stat again

Review 23:The room, though clean, was looking tired and positioned over an "open mic" Friday evening; noisy. We were lucky to get one of the parking slots or it would be a walk and £ from Richmond centre. Water bottles on the landings great as tap water for the uninitiated tainted tea & coffee.

Review 24:The position in Richmond is good for public transport into London or the SW suburbs, Twickenham, Kew Gardens & Hampton Court. Staff friendly & welcoming and evening food plentiful & well-cooked. WiFi is icloud.

Review 25:Just returned from The Dukes Head, very pleasant stay, no problems, good food, ten minutes walk to shops and the river, plenty of pubs etc on the riverside, parking can be awkward, their car park only takes 3 cars, street is free from 6pm to 8am, Friday night is open mike night with differing acts, we had room 2 which was excellent. we paid £160 for a double room with breakfast and free WiFi for 2 nights. Brian and Katrina Portsmouth

Review 26:The shower was dreadful hardly any water came out.

Review 27:The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. It was in a good position for shops and railway station.

Review 28:The room was comfortable. The hotel is situated in a quiet location in central Richmond within easy walking distance of the town and river. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 29:The shower area was worn, needed a deep clean to get rid of the pink mould (especially on the shower head- hint, soak it in vinegar to prevent legionella) and the water flow was extremely low. You'd better learn to dance if you want to get wet under the sporadic drops.

Review 30:The staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was more than adequate and it was well placed for the town.

Review 31:The first twin bed had a massive sag, the sash window was insecure and opened onto a low roof. The shower hose was stretched from the thermostat on one wall to the head on the adjacent wall meaning it cut the corner and got in the way. The thermostat body was so hot on he hot intake side I burnt my arm on it. Basically, the room was tired and needed a refurb to bring it up to date as a clean, basic, comfortable room.

Review 32:Breakfast was very well prepared. Reasonable price given location.

Review 33:Not getting back in time to try some of the Youngs but that was my fault and the company I was keeping

Review 34:I was only one night but I liked the feel of the place.

Review 35:The hotel badly needs some money spent on it. The shower was the weakest and coldest I have experienced in years.

Review 36:Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Hotel was 5 mins walk to train station .

Review 37:My problem was with Booking .com not the pub. I requested a low room because my partner is disabled. You did not relay the information. Staff bent over backwards to rectify your problem.

Review 38:Helpful staff Great breakfast

Review 39:Shower barely a trickle and not satisfactory. Parking is extremely limited one or two cars at best. Hotel is in a residential area so virtually all street parking is unavailable.

Review 40:Good breakfast and pub meals. Staff friendly. Short drive to Kew Gardens.

Review 41:The bedding could have been more comfortable.

Review 42:Very generous owner, went out of his way to help. Genuine warmth. Excellent staff. Loved the service, smiles, ambience, food and conversations. Located in a peaceful lane, but close to station and centre. Room was large and well equipped with heating for a Feb visit. Reasonably priced with full English breakfast included.

Review 43:Shower wasn't great. Didn't like blankets on bed. Looks a bit tired.

Review 44:Food was excellent and staff were very friendly and nice. They work hard !

Review 45:Limited parking but they did have enough space for my little car.

Review 46:Reception good and catering staff very pleasant helpful. Room much larger than expected, and bed huge and comfortable. English breakfast well cooked, and I couldn't manage it all!

Review 47:Television in room didn't work. The staff were nice enough to change batteries in remote but television still would not turn on. Bedside lamp didn't work either which was a little inconvenient.

Review 48:The staff were lovely and location worked well for my needs. Breakfast was nice and filling.

Review 49:Low pressure on the shower

Review 50:Large room which was very quiet. Very clean. Plenty of table lamps. Tea making. Good choice at breakfast and cooked to order. Excellent location, less than 10min to centre. Good wholesome evening meals.

Review 51:Shower wasn't very powerful....breakfast could of been a bit later for a weekend( personal choice)

Review 52:The location was excellent...couldn't fault accomadation ...staff very friendly..

Review 53:i would have liked a bedside table and light on my side of the bed. i tried to use my ipad in the room but it would not work.

Review 54:the owner gave us a lift to our party venue. the bar staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious.

Review 55:'Limited free parking'- this is misleading. I specifically booked here in order to leave my car during the day and use public transport for work. Parking only possible overnight on the street. This was a real headache for me during my stay. Beware! Also room is overpriced- quite shabby, and shower is a pathetic trickle on the top floor.

Review 56:Richmond is a vibrant place. Good breakfast.

Review 57:The beds weren't very comfortable & the water pressure for the shower was very limited.

Review 58:The staff were more than helpful & friendly. The breakfast was fabulous - really good food. Good atmosphere in the pub.

Review 59:Noise in the street when the pub closed in the evening. Bathroom was in need of a refurb ,shower was a trickle of water, you could barely get in & close the door and it was old/tired and dirty.

Review 60:Breakfast was great :) Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 61:The general feel was grubby but overlook that and it's a fairly traditional pub with lodgings. Good beer and breakfast

Review 62:Enjoyed the stay. The breakfast was the highlight. Rooms ok. Walls a bit thin, beds ok, bit aged, but worth it.

Review 63:Absolutely everything was just fine. No complaints what so ever. We will probably be back.

Review 64:Came up to Richmond to watch London Irish ( I know the Madjeski is a quite a distance away !) The Duke was brilliant, parked our car in the free car park for us and the breakfast was delicious.

Review 65:That my request to hold the room for a further night was ignored without a telephone call to confirm. Consequently I had to move out to another hotel for night before my return for the rest my stay.

Review 66:Friendly accmdating Staff, location, close to station the river and the shops.

Review 67:Beds too narrow for large people

Review 68:Quiet Very friendly staff and owner Spacious room Food is good Easy short walk to Richmond and station I will definitely return again

Review 69:The upholstery on bedroom chair is a bit grotty and doesn't give a good impression but otherwise fine A 10 min walk uphill to town so maybe not good for unfit people but fine for most and those with vehicles

Review 70:friendly staff, quiet, nice town bed firm but OK for me Excellent breakfast

Review 71:may be noisy if you want to rest. For me there was not a problem.

Review 72:the situation and the people attending it. the beer in the pub with a different show: Free mic for amateur singers.

Review 73:Nothing in particular.

Review 74:I really enjoyed the informality of the hotel. It was like a local pub in a quiet area but just minutes from all the facilities I needed.

Review 75:Quintessential english inn/pub, friendly, competent and welcoming staff, good wifi, good (and very British!) large breakfast and perfect location near Kew Gardens and various underground, overground and train lines.

Review 76:the shower was very slow, and far to small an area, to shut the door of the shower, the room was to hot even with the fan on, and you could not lock the door from the inside.

Review 77:the owners were very nice, even running me to the station, and moving my car when required, the food was good too.

Review 78:Climbing three flights of stairs to get to our room was a bit wearing - but a small price to pay for the many good points this hotel has to offer.

Review 79:The friendliness of the staff and the excellent food and drink.

Review 80:Pleasant quiet area. Next to the Thames, with Kew gardens, with diverse transport. Cozy room, down - the pub and B&B. British traditions. Respect.

Review 81:Accomodation: My room was very cosy and spacious, clean and quiet. Hotel staff: Very very kind and helpful! The last day they let me stay longer in my room because I had late flight and they didn't charge it additionaly. Food: I had breakfast only, but it was really great, there were couple options. My recommendation is to try full english breakfast. Location: Great! Hotel is about 5 min walk from Richmond metro station, District line. It is also not so far away from Heathrow, and there is direct bus line for airport, bus 490. General impression: If I come to London again, I will stay at the same place.

Review 82:Room was on the top floor and as an older couple we found the stairs quite difficult

Review 83:Room was clean and comfortable , breakfast was very nice, staff friendly
