Reviews for Gallaghers Hotel

Review 1:Well workmen was still working after 1.30 in morning with drills still going at 3.grrr.bathroom is tiny.breakfast is supposed to be €8.50.was charged €9.95kept receipt as I have it on photos.curtains closed as it's a big wall u can touch when window open.

Review 2:Outside hotel is gorgeous.as is reception.there doing work to hotel.

Review 3:The heating in the room didn't work but the receptionist was able to get us a blow heater so it didn't impact too much on our stay

Review 4:Location was brill - room was very comfortable and breakfast was perfect with very attentive staff at breakfast

Review 5:The food was excellent and the staff were very pleasant room service was very prompt and courteous bed was comfortable eating in room spot on and adjustable to our needs

Review 6:We stayed here to view it as a potential wedding venue whilst attending a friends wedding at another nearby hotel. We where upgraded to the bridal suite on arrival. We found the hotel beautiful and the bridal suite was amazing. Definitely in our top few for wedding venues.

Review 7:NOTHING

Review 8:We like everything about this hotel from very clean bedroom and bathroom to the beautiful breakfast and also the staff will definitely be staying in it again

Review 9:At about 3 in the morning we were locked out of out room through our own fault but it took a while to get hold of someone to help as reception was empty and we had no other way to contact the hotel than by phone as we were in oit pjamas.

Review 10:The staff were incredibly accommodating with all our requests. We travelled as part of a group of 10. And we all agreed the staff are amazing. The rooms were so spacious and well equipped and the reception were more than accommodating with any requests we had. There were no noisey neighbours which can be very irritating in some hotels. The food was excellent. Our party of 10 sat down to evening dinner with starters being shared and the total was less than €13 per head! Including steak dinner. Very good value for money!!

Review 11:Room was a bit dated, could do with a bit of a renovation. Shower curtain! Hate shower curtains, should have left hotels in the 70s!

Review 12:Excellent location within walking distance to everything.

Review 13:The town itself is not really worth a stay... recommend travelling on either to Derry or Donegal! quite a lot of noise from the hallway and you could hear a lot from the adjacent rooms (not that uncommon in ireland)

Review 14:good rooms good breakfast

Review 15:* A bit dated - would benefit from redecoration 'Old' smell in bedroom

Review 16:*Staff very helpful *Central location *Plenty towels, toiletries etc *Great value - pre theatre menu - food excellent

Review 17:I asked in comments for a nice room got a room looking out onto a concrete wall room was grubby we have been here a few times and always enjoyed we will not be returning

Review 18:Asked for wheelchair friendly room. It was the furthest room from the lift. The doors were all very heavy sting doors. I know they are fire doors but it's a nightmare with a wheelchair. There were a few nasty stains on the wall of the room also. Our view was of a ramp. Don't think I'll be back.

Review 19:Beautiful location. Mezzanine restaurant was fab with great view and wonderful food.

Review 20:There wasn't enough parking space as on one of the nights I had to park on the street wasn't happy with that.

Review 21:I liked the room it was big enough for me and my daughter and the breakfast was lovely.

Review 22:No sleep on Saturday night because the noise on landing was dreadful and went on all night, my daughter and her 5 year old son were awake till the noise stopped about 6am. Would not stay here again

Review 23:Location, food, staff, comfort were all first class

Review 24:Lobby Internet is so slow we gave up, and staff don't allow you use reception Internet as we had to check in a flight. View from the room was looking at a wall

Review 25:Nice food and good location

Review 26:Room was cold on arrival and took a while to warm up. Room needs a revamp. A bit worn looking.

Review 27:The staff were friendly. The place was clean and comfortable. Central to where we wantedto be.

Review 28:The staff were very helpful we were told about the special steak night by Curtis which we took advantage of and really enjoyed. Rooms were clean and everyone really friendly. We are already planning our next visit and have recommended it to our family and friends.

Review 29:The only thing I didn't like was the menu for food in the hotel we had to go out and find somewhere to eat cause we didn't like anything on the menu and didn't book breakfast in the morning as it seemed a bit pricey so we went next door to the cafe

Review 30:Gallagher 's hotel was a great hotel to stay in. The staff was great and we had a great time with bar staff , the room was lovely with good facilities and bed was comfortable.

Review 31:Too many lifts got lost. Staff not very pleasant. Didnt tell us you had to go to second floor then get out and walk 2 get into another lift 2 go 2 3 floor

Review 32:The receptionist was very helpful on our arrival and gave us very good directions to places we wanted to see.. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice..

Review 33:As I wrote in my evaluation I was most impressed with all aspects of my stay. The reception, food, decor, environment, quiet and I did learn too late that there is underground car parking. Thanks for a good night.

Review 34:Slow service in the restaurant -15 mins' wait for a menu. Everything fine once I did get a menu though.

Review 35:Comfortable room, well equipped ensuite. Good food and good prices in the restaurant.Great central location but no street noise because the rooms are well away from the main street.

Review 36:The lifts! The lift situation was so confusing, we all got lost a few times. We were staying on the 3rd floor but the lift at reception only takes you to the 2nd floor. Then the 3rd floor lift doesn't take you to the bar/restaurant. Very confusing.

Review 37:The late bar in the hotel was great, which stayed open past 4am. The breakfast was good. Beds nice and comfy and the hotel was in an excellent location, right in the centre of town.

Review 38:there wasn't anything that I didn't like I loved the whole trip

Review 39:I loved everything about the hotel and were it was located it suited our trip to a T! we certainly will be returning very very soon!

Review 40:My daughter tripped over a tray of glasses left on floor on arrival while passing through bar area. Bed in their room 215 was badly broken and on examination of same the mattress was found to be very badly stained !! They were immediately changed to another room !! Carpet in my room 218 needs replacing it is quite filthy.

Review 41:You're staff are excellent very friendly and efficient. Food was excellent also. Property left behind by husband was found quickly and posted immediately very impressed with both Sarah and Amy on reception.

Review 42:sadly the decor in the bedrooms is becoming tired and dated.the bathroom fittings were loose and the bedroom chair was hard and uncomfortable.

Review 43:the location of the hotel is good for access to the shops and bars. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming.

Review 44:I think the rooms would benefit from redecoration as there were marks on the wall below the window. Also I didn't find the bed very comfy and pillows hard. There were stains on the curtains. Understandably no views really as front of hotel is glass, not that important!

Review 45:The location, the staff, the parking, facilities in room very good!

Review 46:Not much to do a wee spa room would b lovely in it

Review 47:The house keeping staff were very friendly lovely girls only thing there wasnt much to do in hotel but over all review of hotel was excellent beds and rooms were lovely bar area and staff were lovely

Review 48:The staff in the bar didn't acknowledge we were seated whatsoever. We went up to the bar twice to ask for menus but still never recieved any. The food wasn't great and the menu we finally recieved when we went down to the main restaurant only had a fraction of what was stated on the website.

Review 49:We got a great price for our stay and the hotel was located in the Main Street beside shops and restaurants.

Review 50:lifts a bit confusing. food could have been served hotter, was just look warm!!

Review 51:good location, staff very friendly, bed very comfortable, would definitely go back

Review 52:the staff in the restaurant did not know what they were to do we asked for sweet menus and never received them

Review 53:the staff in the bar was very nice the only thing the bar was very noisey at times

Review 54:Parking would not have been great very limited tight wee road to get up

Review 55:Everything was great the staff were friendly the food was good and the room was great

Review 56:Lift system confusing. Had to use 2 lifts if staying on 3rd floor.

Review 57:Comfortable spacious room. Bath tub. Free wifi. Excellent location. Fantastic breakfast.

Review 58:Lift wasnt working when i arrived so asked if it could be fixed.A smell occured after first nights stay but was promptly dealt with.

Review 59:Comfortable bed, spacious, room, good breakfast and lovely staff.

Review 60:Bathroom a bit dated for a new hotel. The stay was a bit pricey for what was on offer.

Review 61:Great location with comfortable room. Breakfast very enjoyable. Car parking very convenient.

Review 62:Where to start? Dirty duvet which had to be brought to staff attention. Floors and behind bed was rotten with dirt and dust. View from the window was just litter, cigarette butts and a dirty wall. Safe didnt work. Toilet seat broken. Toilet roll holder hanging off the wall. Milk cartons were blue moulded when opened. VERY dissapointed as this was a break for our 25th wedding anniversary. Would not stay here again!!

Review 63:The food was excellent. Staff were pleasant

Review 64:Kept awake for the two nights by noisy neighbours, very loud, screaming all night and banging doors, staff did not know what to do

Review 65:Location was perfect and staff were friendly and helpful

Review 66:However, the room walls are very thin, and because it was a graduate weekend, the noise of people coming in all night long was annoying.

Review 67:Overall a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms.

Review 68:We had to be moved room after 1st night due to noise staff so accomodating though second night no better again staff tried to sort out

Review 69:The staff help was great food very good

Review 70:I think the main door to the hotel should be locked as we came in after half 2am and it was open anyone could walk in

Review 71:The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke to us each day and when we need anything for the room they got us it straight away

Review 72:Didn't like anything room was filthy food was horrible rude staff extortionately priced

Review 73:Rude staff filthy rooms awful layout if your staying above the 2nd floor it's a maze to try and get to the next floor you have to take different lifts to get you where you need to go. Breakfast was inedible JUST NEVER AGAIN

Review 74:Small capacity car park. need to work on having real good evening entertainment, would have stayed in more if thy had.

Review 75:Great location, Stunning Looking hotel.

Review 76:What was unacceptable was the out of date information booklet that had the incorrect time for check out. As the time was incorrect unprovoked attitude and abuse were pointed in my direction by a member of housekeeping. When i complained at the desk i was welcomed with ignorance and not even as much as an apology.

Review 77:Good location delicious food and comfortable clean room.

Review 78:Very noisy at nighttime, bathroom could be cleaner.

Review 79:Friendly staff, facilities - bar, restaurant, car park, location, room comfortable, good choice for breakfast

Review 80:Curtains Xtra large tear on one and sick or some other bodily fluid on the other, carpets and chairs disgusting in hall ways and room ( 205 ). Furniture all chipped and bathroom tiles all mouldy charged me more than I booked on line for both in sterling look out of our room and you looked straight into another house

Review 81:Comfy bed

Review 82:People where noisy on the floors singing and shouting at 2am so wee didn't sleep very well

Review 83:It was hard too park my car had too park it out on the street

Review 84:The bedinlet was rather thick. As the room is airconditionned you have to uncover yourselves not to be too warm.

Review 85:The spacious room is very practical. Youeasily can organize your luggage and personal things.

Review 86:I am celiac and my husband and I chose to eat in the hotel every evening( 5 in total) because of the clarity of the menu in highlighting allergens. However, on our last night the menu had bee re-vamped to bring it in line with The Clanree. There was no allergen or additive information. Not a progressive move.

Review 87:The attentiveness of James when eating in the Inis Mear bar.

Review 88:The rooms are very comfortable, drawback I had to take two lifts to get to my room. The bar is upstairs and main entrance on first floor.

Review 89:The hotel is centrally located with ease of parking and a pleasant staff. The breakfast was similar to most hotels for its rating, however one of the servers disappeared from his station for some time creating a long queue as a result.

Review 90:The hotel advertised free wifi, which was through bitbuzz, I got a password at the bat but it was of no use to me as the connection kept dropping. Food was mediocre at best. Breakfast was satisfactory, kept me full until lunch time. I had dinner in the hotel on Wednesday night, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. If staying again, I would definitely go for dinner elsewhere in town.

Review 91:Staff were very helpful. Letting me check in early when I was ill. The room was warm and comfortable. Slept very well.

Review 92:Our first room stank of cigarette although the rooms are supposed to be non smoking. Reception apologised and we were allocated a new room. But why was this room offered in the first place. The maid who made the room up should have reported the smell to supervision.

Review 93:Sent an email via booking .com for the attention of the hotel reservation staff! I asked on leaving did they get my email & was told no email was received this was very disappointing!

Review 94:The hotel was very central! Comfortable hotel beds good & Breakfast was good!

Review 95:Not happy they took a extra £4.99 off my credit card with out asking me, I did not know this until I got home, so I cloud not ask why? ,

Review 96:Location, right in the centre of town

Review 97:On arrival, the lady at reception was fairly brusque. The bar staff were asleep and my piece of Salmon completely over cooked. I waited over 10 minutes for a pint which was then - incredibly - served up to me - the head was splitting and a skin forming on it. At breakfast, which I thought was included but wasn't the waiter was frankly very rude about it. His colleague, from central Europe was a lady, professional, friendly and courteous. The only such staff member I encountered.

Review 98:bar was closed for renovations. There was an awful lot of disruption and noise in the corridors several times during the night . Did not get a good nights sleep.

Review 99:location was good bed comfortable

Review 100:The furnishings in the room were chipped and scratched. The carpets were dirty, there was dust in the corners and along the skirting boards. The hotel was very very noisy with people shouting and fighting in the corridors. It didn't quieten down until 5am. I tried to ring reception but no answer. The breakfast room was so overcrowded people were sat in the reception and on the floor. The street outside leading to the carpark was littered with broken glass.

Review 101:Just an observation - car park at the back of the hotel is quite small for the size of hotel. We got parked OK, but others were not so lucky and had to drive round and round the town to find a parking space.

Review 102:Hotel is really central to everything. Our room was excellent, clean, beautifully furnished, bed really comfortable. Bathroom spotless with an excellent shower. We stayed for three nights and room was cleaned every day with change of towels etc

Review 103:Reception staff not v helpful Not enough cups and no extra given despite request Awkward until sign posted car park

Review 104:The bar staff were excellent Clean and comfy beds

Review 105:Rooms badly needs facelift. Extractor fan broken in bathroom. Only bed made in room no bin emptied or bathroom cleaned.

Review 106:Not a lot. Room very dark and dull.

Review 107:Room was filthy and smelly. My booking said non smoking so why did I get a smokers room?? I booked well in advance. It was disgusting, even if it is a smoking room, please clean the carpet, curtains and bedding. Would not recommend. Car park hilly and hard to park.

Review 108:Breakfast was just ok.

Review 109:Bedrooms & bathrooms in need of update. Not enough disabled parking spaces.initially difficult to find our way round through warren of corridors & lifts.

Review 110:Reception,mezzanine eating area & breakfast area are all bright, modern & clean. Staff are friendly & helpful. Breakfast was value for money.

Review 111:Breakfast was a bit too busy the way it is set up - too much packed into the one area. Would be easier if it the continental was separate from the cooked and if it was self serve. Staff seemed a bit under the pump! Room was ok although it's confusing trying to find the room as you have to swap lifts if you're on the 3rd floor. We overlooked the carpark which was a little noisy in the morning. It was hot in the room and we found out that it was probably cause the airconditioning was on heat rather than cool even though we had it on 17.

Review 112:Location is right in Letterkenny so within walking distance for going out. Staff are really helpful on reception and in the bar. Breakfast staff are not too bad but I think they are under a bit too much pressure.

Review 113:We stayed two nights. The first morning we were awoken very early by the sound of a cherry picker. The second we were awoken at 7am to the sound of bottles being dumped. I mentioned this on check out but wasn't offered an apology.

Review 114:The wall between the rooms is paper thin heard everybody the couple in next room chatted the whole bloody night got a hours sleep n banging doors all night then the cleaners where hoovering at 9 n Sunday morning

Review 115:The breakfast

Review 116:I did not like the dull interior of the corridors to the accommodation with very poor lighting i did not think much of the view outside our window there was a wall and an little pathway which was covered with algae or moss a few plants would have been nicer to look at

Review 117:The convenience of the location and I joined in the irish traditional music session on Tuesday night

Review 118:We arrived on a Friday afternoon and there was painters everywhere. The parking is terrible even though it says on their website they have room for 200 cars!

Review 119:Staff are really nice and helpful.

Review 120:The staff were amazing. Had to stay another night due to a faniky member becoming too ill to travel. The ladies on the front desk sorted a room for us straight away and upgraded us to an executive suite. So kind!!

Review 121:The walls in my room were very dirty and the bathroom wasn't very clean either. It was like the staff only did a very quick clean in there.

Review 122:The lady at reception, I think her name was Amy, was fantastic, and very welcoming.

Review 123:However the rooms are basic and the bathroom is small.Parking is also an issue if the Hotel is busy.

Review 124:The staff were extremely friendly. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Review 125:On arrival not told times of breakfast, dinner location etc.. Room in poor condition very dated and unclean. Wouldn't stay again.

Review 126:Food was excellent.

Review 127:unfortunately disturbed at 3 amtill 6 by other guests Also someone was sickin lift....although cleaned still smelt extremely unpleasant

Review 128:excluding the negatives very good value for money. Staff very helpful

Review 129:The hotel looked a little "trashy" from the outside. This couldn't be further from the truth as the whole place is lovely

Review 130:Good town centre location, friendly staff, comfortable room/bed etc. - a really good stay

Review 131:Car park is too small for a hotel this size The hen party in the hotel on Saurday night they woke my parents up at 4 am and someone must have been sick in the lift judging by the smell

Review 132:central location

Review 133:Exterior, lobby, bar & restaurant all newly decorated and very modern but once you step out of the lift to the rooms its like being in a time warp! Everything is so old and shabby, rooms are just horrible :( They did give us a different room on the 2nd night but honestly it wasn't much better. Based on their online pics we were expecting a lovely modern hotel but thats not what it is (apart from lobby) We were so disappointed it really ruined our honeymoon stay :(

Review 134:Nice lobby and bar

Review 135:disruptive night sleep due to noise between 3am and 6am (extreme). followed by mere gesture of bottle of wine which to say the least was disappointing.

Review 136:friendly warm staff, location good and central

Review 137:toilets in bar were dirty. bit confusing to get to the 3rd floor had to take 2 different lifts but got the swing of it.

Review 138:Good location. Good size room. Free wifi and parking!
