Reviews for Thermae Sylla Spa & Wellness Hotel

Review 1:Spa treatments are more expensive than the equivalent treatments in Athens hotels.

Review 2:Hot spring facilities (indoors and outdoors) could be enjoyed during both summer and winter. This hotel provides a range of wellness treatments. Our room with sea view was superb. Breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. Wifi connection was excellent. Easy and accessible onsite parking.

Review 3:This is not a luxurious hotel; it is a quite old fashioned nice hotel. This is fine with me, I just make it clear.

Review 4:I liked and enjoyed very much the thermal spa experience.

Review 5:Hotel room below par Spa old and outdated very limited wifi coverage. most of the time did not work Staff not trained for 5-star facility. Generally, this is not a 5-star facility (maybe is with 90s standards but not in 2016), but they charge as if they are. They need to either invest in the property or review their price list

Review 6:Staff very friendly and willing to help.

Review 7:Had to keep up maintance better to keep the good renome'. The room we had starts to need small renovation. Bathroom especiyally. But still up to good 4 star. The town around location could use serious upgrade. Lots of broken buildings and public areas. Greek economy I guess.. The town had it's best time for several years back.

Review 8:Children friendly. Put in a baby cot/crib even not ask for it. Very good! Nice outdoor pool, but limited time for use cause of the heated thermal water. Good area for walking i mountain(hiking)

Review 9:If you are going there for the thermal water do not book this hotel. It does not worth the 5*. Book an apartment and drive or walk either to the sea or the public baths. The old wing is really old. They need to invest on the wing. The balconies are so small you cannot even have on person sitting which is a shame because the views to the sea are very nice. If you are sitting outside, unless you inform someone, you will not be served because they have no cameras to check who is out or not (maybe in the summer they have dedicated staff). The indoor facilities are rundown and it is obvious with rusty handles for example. The rooms need renovation. The safe is with a key which has your room number so if you are carrying your key card with you and your key good luck! Not sure how else I can plan this. The safe is so small it does not even fit an ipad.I wanted to order a healty drink and the waitress told me that it was good I told her where to find the drink on the menu because she was not aware. This unfortunately reflects seasonal hospitality service. Hiring staff for a while, not training properly and so on.The Doctor that you have to see prior to entering the baths is rude and does not event greet you when you enter. He is bored and he signs the forms even before he asks you the questions! The thermal water runs in the sea which is under the hotel and with free access. The sea water is warm because of this and the experience is amazing. The public baths are better quality and with better facilities. In the hotel they charge the hotel guests with 3 euros for each shower cap if you will use the pools which is ridiculous. They have a strange system (possibly to save money) where you need to be at certain time and only for 30 minutes in one pool and then the machines stop can then you have to go outside. If you are going there to relax then this will not work.....

Review 10:The location is excellent. The staff who are there for many years are very good. Polite and courteous. The aquagym which is free and very enjoyable. The breakfast is very good with excellent Greek delicacies and varieties. The wifi question is good.

Review 11:Beds were very hard with heavy plastic protective covers under the sheets and no screens on windows. The treatment area looks like a swiss hospital of the1950s and the staff doing the treatments seemed to be in a rush, not explaining the process prior to commencing. Even heard one staff member in the treatment area saying "What? I have to do it?", probably referring to the next massage. Caters to specific age group.

Review 12:We liked the internal swimming pool, the outdoor pool (though lacking some repairs), the aquarobics class, the room and the view. The music was amazing and created a beautiful ambience since you could hear it from your room and in the entire pool area.

Review 13:Over all good. Very minor things that could be better, like service at the beach area, drinks and coffee during early afternoon, better and prompt selection of lunch menu etc. Some areas of the pools need attention!!!

Review 14:I loved the mud sessions, the socking at the pools and the set up.

Review 15:One can use swimming pool only with cap. There are two saunas, but it is not free. Absolutely standard room, nothing special, wi fi connection almost absent. The shower in our room didn't work properly.

Review 16:Wonderful swimming pool with thermal water, the building is beautiful. Good beach with a thermal spring is located nearby.

Review 17:breakfast was not good enough for a 5 star hotel. The trays were not filled regularly so there was a long time with a lot of empty trays. The staff were supposed to fill your cup with coffee but there were not enough of them so you had to wait for a long time as they would not let you do it yourself!

Review 18:Everything apart from breakfast

Review 19:We didn't like a lot the hotel. To be honest it doesn't look like 5 stars hotel but 3 max 4...

Review 20:We liked the swiming pools, the brakefast and Edipsos

Review 21:that we had to pay 11 euros for the bathing cap

Review 22:the hotel has the warm charme of an good old grand hotel although it has been modernized. the sea view is great, the rooms with view to the pool are nice too and have a little balcony and sun over the whole day. good breakfast, nice restaurant and the best : the warm saltwater pools that makes your skin soft and softer. many cafes on the promenade right out of the hotel and a very beautiful view to the sea and to the mainland of greece.

Review 23:The slow wifi, the fact that one person refused to let us have an early breakfast one day (which was corrected when other people were at the reception).

Review 24:The free use of the inside and outside thermal pools and the fitness room, the breakfast, the sea view from our room. There was a nice atmodphere in the lounge near the lobby. Most of the staff were wonderful.

Review 25:During low season bar amenities really poor if ever feeling hungry and the restaurant is closed. The restaurant offers very poor service in terms of taste and appearance of the dishes. Yet, the personnel is very polite and willingful. However, no good value for money at all for the final product. Had a try of the menu for a couple of days and did not meet a taste similar to the status of a hotel of this magnitude.

Review 26:The wellness facilities are in great variety and the personel is quite polite and helpful. Better try a low season stay so you can fully enjoy the amenities and have a thorough discussion with the SPA reception due to the really wide range of treatments. (Brilliant undergroung tunnel leading from the rooms directly to the SPA). Five star breakfast menu. Summing up, seducing atmosphere (loved the subtle music playing all around) and health promoting focus characterise the overall feeling in this uniquely located and decorated with some taste hotel. Fair value for money if you are looking for a luxurious yet simple, relaxing yet entertaining residence.

Review 27:we did not like to level of the expertise when used the spa services and the quality versus price of the lunch

Review 28:We liked the location which is beautiful, the dinner at the Messogios restaurant and the view

Review 29:Hotel and Spa facilities definitely need to be updated. Was disappointedthat Finnish sauna and steam bathe were charged as extra!! Quality ofdrinks at the bar was poor and prices very high, matching and evenexceeding prices of a high quality coctail bar. Ask prices beforeordering. Even coffee prices equaled those of an old traditional andclassy centrally located big city cafe. Should you wish an espressoduring breakfast you were asked to pay it extra!! The only coffee yougot for free was the filter coffee!! Linens must be renewed.

Review 30:The location of the hotel was very good so was the food ar therestaurant for Breakfast and Lunch. Very nice setup and nice deck forsea swimming.

Review 31:Nothing. Would definately stay there again if we ever returned.

Review 32:The breakfast and lunch included in the room rate was fabulous, with lots of variety every day. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the outdoor pool which we loved.

Review 33:The thermal pools were our favorite so far. We had massages on our second day, which were wonderful. The food was fresh and delicious; they had a wide variety for every dietary need. We plan to make Thermae Sylla a mandatory stop every time we come to Greece. Next time we will take the ferry from Athens however, the drive (3hrs) was tedious. The roads on the island are not marked and we got lost twice. The ferry drops passengers off a block from the spa; had we known this we would have gone by ferry.

Review 34:A little more care is needed in the timely keeping of the room. When we arrived it had no towels and the bathroom was not 100% clean.

Review 35:Not satisfied with the massage

Review 36:The swimming pools,excellent breakfast

Review 37:Nice hotel, excellent pools , tasty meal, friendly staff. All is good.

Review 38:Sea view rooms don't have large enough balconies...I would recommend Pool View Rooms. Also underground parking can get a bit crowded .

Review 39:Everything!

Review 40:spa,massage,synxaritiria ston chef

Review 41:The food was poor and breakfast nothing special

Review 42:The spa and the pools also rooms on the original wing have a high ceiling and are very well sized

Review 43:Price was a bit high.

Review 44:Relaxing mineral pools, nice breakfast, perfect proximity.

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:location by the sea is breathtaking the spa faculities are excellent the spa treatments fun - I enjojed the mud old style classic

Review 47:wifi exists but realy is not working at all

Review 48:Spa

Review 49:My short staying!

Review 50:Everything was excellent there: The pool, the food, the luxury to name a few

Review 51:Older spa hotel, so if you're looking for a new modern facility, can be a little different.

Review 52:Good service, near the water, good food.

Review 53:All services are exceptional

Review 54:We had the rooms with the see view (old building). The room on the 3 floor had only a window. The room at the 2 floor - really really small "balcony". But it was not really a balcony, as you cannot step outside. I felt that extra money for these room that i payed wasn't good idea. Next time will choose the room with the pool view with bigger balcony

Review 55:Everything was perfect. 2 big swimming pools. Good food in the restaurant. We had breakfast and lunch option. It was good and convenient. As we did not want to eat at night after all the spa experience. But there are some restaurants nearby if someone want to eat outside the hotel at night and not to pay a fortune at the hotel restaurant. We had a problem in one of our rooms with air-conditioning and strange smell. They changed the room and offered 2 bottles of wine (their own label). It was really nice gesture from the hotel stuff side and we appreciate it. The one (i believe manager) man from the personnel , who is taking care about the things all around hotel (I noticed him at the reception desk, restaurant, outside the hotel) was extremely kind to answer our questions and we felt he really cared to make the best effort for the guest to have a great time at the hotel

Review 56:This Hotel is my favorite in Greece! As I live in Athens this is my perfect getaway for relaxation. Conveniently situated ,just 3 hours leisurely drive,I can easily just drive out there without second thought! The Hotel is of a good standard and SPA facilities are great! Quality of F&B excellent!

Review 57:spa doctor was unqualified, when one of us needed medical assistance they asked us to leave and didn't refund cost of stay after we left, food was not appropriate for a wellness hotel, sold cigars

Review 58:As lunch was included, we went directly to the dining room after ourarrival and to our great surprise, were served lunch that is certainlynot served at kitchen soups by the charity ...cod was from at least theprevious day, not to mention same age stuffed tomatoes..the poorest andmost tasteless meal which is a shame for the reputation of theestablishment! After we complained and returned the inedible meal, thetable next to us was served the same exactly fish, which was returnedand we heard the same complains..this should never be allowed in modernGreece..breakfast was very good! Why is this discrepancy, we wonder

Review 59:The spa installations, the super outside pool, the kind and consideratestaff, the serene atmosphere, as we were there in a low season .

Review 60:The spa therapies are expensive , but the mud therapy is worth doing .The gym equipment needs repair. We missed some of the older high quality staff who have been there for years - and made us returning customers feels at home-,as they seem to have resigned or laid off . We guess it is due to cost cutting but it is wrong .

Review 61:The food is excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, the thermal pools are amazing, and the healing power of the water is unique. There is also an excellent hairdresser on request at the hotel.

Review 62:the music at the pool was irritating the coffee at breakfast

Review 63:the location the spa facilities the food at lunch the fact we were allowed to check out 2 hours later

Review 64:The natural hot spring water around which this spa is built/themedis everything they claim. Excellent relaxation/rejuvenation. Thefood was superb, and the inclusion of breakfast and lunch was an greatdeal and convenient. Their are clean to a fault, emptying both spa poolsto clean them every night (and they're huge pools). It was quiet, peaceful: dont expect excitement in this spa or town. It's notgeared for that. My husband and I plan to make this our first stop forseveral days on our future vacations to Greece to immediately"recover" from work and set the tone for the rest of ourvacation. Loved it!!!

Review 65:Could not get a drik at the outside bar area at front of hotel. Waited 30 minutes and left for a local tavern. Not the staff fault. There were oly two serving a big crowd. Overthe top price for a cokctail. 13 Euro is a total rip off for a simple gin and tonic or martini.

Review 66:Staff very attentive. Location excellent.

Review 67:Internet wi-fi connection in the room was weak or there was not signalat all. Heating in the rooms cold be better. Both these issues arerelated to management of the hotel rather its facilities. I do not thinkthat managers can significantly cut expenses by cutting expenses forinternet or room heating!?!. And finally - hot connection between spaand new wing - better close it - it just ruin perfect impression for thehotel (it is like from horror movies).

Review 68:Charming hotel, reflect atmosphere between two worlds war in lastcentury. Really, unique experience worth to visit.

Review 69:There should be more pressure on guests to respect the policy of not allowing young children in the indoor therapy pool.

Review 70:spa and therapies, the thermal water is unique and the pools are great. The food is very good an abundant , healthy and excellent quality. Restaurant is very pleasant . Excellent hotel staff in all departments.

Review 71:the room wasn't very good and certainly did not respond to the price it costed. The wall had cracks ,there was no window on the bathroom and the ventilator on the bathroom did not work. Furthermore the food was anything special for a 5 star hotel . For sure it is overated and there is no value for money.

Review 72:the swimming pool and spa facilities

Review 73:nothing. everything was fantastic.

Review 74:My mother and i absolutely loved our stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and provided the highest care. they were attentive and friendly and did a great job.

Review 75:The spa seems now understaffed. Many therapists only come weekends sosome popular treatments were not available. The sauna and steamroonshould not be charged extra but included in the use of the pools.

Review 76:Excellent food . Friendly staff. The Spa waters is unique. The externalpool is amazing

Review 77:A minor complaint is that during our visit, the hotel's Internet wi-fi would not work with Apple devices.

Review 78:We stayed for 6 days in this hotel. The building, spa and grounds are well maintained and clean. The location is just beautiful, next to the sea. At this time of the year, the area is quite and the loudest sound in the evening is the slashing of the waves. In the price of the room, one has access to the external and internal pools that either have a mix of seawater and hot spring water at 30C - the former pool, or just cooled hot spring water at 34C - the latter pool. The spring water has a slight, inoffensive smell of sulphur. The breakfast buffet has a good variety on offer and the lunch menu choice was adequate. At the Wellness Centre one can buy various spa treatments or even have a customized treatment programme made up. An ideal place for relaxation and for enjoying a luxury break. Will be visiting again this hotel.

Review 79:Its location as it is not far from Athens and it is easily to reach itfor a weekend relaxing. When I was a child I spent some summers with myfamily in Edipsos and I always admired the building, which then wasclosed and almost rulned and hearing from my grandmother, that in theearly 20th century it was a luxerious hotel, where she was spending atleast a week every september for thermal baths, I always wanted to staythere too. I and my husband will visit it again in the near future.
