Reviews for Markezinis Suites by Caldera Collection

Review 1:From the welcoming staff to our spacious, quiet room, we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing break. The breakfast had a wide variety of choices on offer and was served on the balcony overlooking the quaint villlage of Messaria. Will definitely be returning!

Review 2:Amazing place, super clean and comfortable. Eugenia was the incredible friendly and helpful. Best breakfast i've ever had in an hotel. They have an agreement with another hotel which is very close to it so you can use the swiming pool, and it has one of the best views of santorini.

Review 3:To leav

Review 4:Eugenia is the queen of Markezinis! She made our stay so special! Excellent on everything! Take a diet before to go and make a handmade tiramisu/caprese overdose!!!

Review 5:the location is Mesaria. This is central to the island, but still is not walking distance to Fira or Oia. You need a car hire and probably a sat nav due to the narrow roads. Once you get the hang of it, the location is actually very convenient to everything but takes getting used to initially.

Review 6:We came here for our honeymoon to Santorini.Evgina was a fantastic host! The breakfasts were made to order and absolutely delicious. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt extremely comfortable, she went over and above and every facet of our stay was excellent. This hotel has sister properties at Caldera Colelction, including Petit Palace where we went for some incredible dinner and had free access to their facilities (including pool overlooking ocean etc). Would highly highly highly recommend this place for the breakfasts, the exceptional host and homely service.

Review 7:Loved our beautiful and incredibly helpful and informative host who tookextra special care of us- literally drove us in her own car to take usto see the most astonishing sunset, drove us to the airport, offered toprepare us any meal we asked for: her apple pie was to die for. Wouldrecommend this hotel to couples who want 6 star service and facilitiesfor a very reasonable price- you can even use the facilities at theaffiliated hotel for free! And you get 10% off at their restaurant. Willbe staying here again with my partner if i'm lucky enough to returnto Santorini. Ps Spa bath was awesome.

Review 8:We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel. The room was gorgeous, the breakfast was delicious and completely individualized and best of all was the manager of the hotel, Evgenia. She made us feel like family and catered to our every need. She was so wonderful and accommodating, she gave us excellent advice, recommendations and information about the island, made reservations for us and so much more. We were so sad to leave this place. Probably the best experience I have ever had at a hotel! It is also important to know that by being a guest at this hotel you have unlimited access to the gorgeous cliffside pool at their sister hotel down the street.

Review 9:Location is in a somewhat rundown part of the town with graffiti on the walls nearby. No swimming pool or other areas to sit and relax on-site. Would not have booked if had known this.

Review 10:Staff (Avegnia and Alexandra) were excellent and very helpful and friendly and would do anything to help and make your stay comfortable. No complaints there. But the place lacks the feel of a luxury hotel where you can sit and relax with family etc. You can, although, go to their associated hotels nearby in Fira for Pool etc but it defeats the purpose as you cannot 'walk' to your room after being in pool!!

Review 11:Amazing amazing breakfast! Best we've had in a holiday resort. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. Although not any facilities at this property the link to the sister hotels meant that we had access to amazing pools with views overlooking the caldera. The value for money was superb. I highly recommend this property and it is situated in one of the most greek villages on the island. Plus the room was spectacular with gorgeous bathroom.

Review 12:Our family of 3 (husband, wife, and teenage daughter) had an excellent 3 night stay at the Markezinis Suites at Mesaria in July 2015. It is a nice-looking 5-unit property. Our unit (room 105) has charming décor, lovely vaulted ceilings, lots of space (a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, and bathroom) with an outside patio and looks great. Upon arriving by taxi from the airport (10 minute ride – make sure the taxi knows it is Markezinis at Mesaria and not a different part of the island), we were warmly welcomed immediately at the door by Evgenia. During check-in, she provided us with the bus schedule, directions to get around, and a menu to choose what we would like for breakfast (included in the room rate). With the property’s central location, it is very easy to get around by bus. Evgenia, and her assistant Alexandra, made us feel special during our stay. Evgenia loves to cook and bake (and to paint, we later learned). We were treated to delicious snacks of home-made goodies (chocolate cake, apple pie, tiramisu, etc.) in the evening every day. Needless to say, all were delicious. The cooked to order breakfast is very tasty (we had omelette) and the portions are large. Upon departure, Evgenia called a taxi for us (€15 to the airport). We had such a wonderful and pampered stay here. The property is beautiful, our room is spacious, the meals delicious, and the staff welcoming and warm. We very highly recommend this place!

Review 13:The room was beautiful, breakfast amazing. You even have access to the other two hotels of the Caldera group which are absolutely stunning (only a couple of kms away) with beautiful pools and restaurants over the caldera. But what really made the difference was Evgenia, the girl in charge of the Markezinis. She's incredible. A real pearl!! She brings so much joy and kindness. She even drove us to the other two hotels. Everything was absolutely perfect. Will recommend without hesitation. Thanks again Evgenia, you are a star!!!

Review 14:No pool , no gym

Review 15:Most amazing room , with most amazing and attentive service . Evgenya are host made our stay extra special . Made to order breakfasts were fresh , tasty and very Greek:)

Review 16:The only thing I would say is that the hotel is not in the most convenient location - we had to take a taxi everywhere (EUR 7 to Fira). Also the swimming pool access was at a sister hotel.

Review 17:We stayed for 2 nights. Our room was very spacious, with a sitting area. The bathroom had 2 sinks. Staff was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Atmosphere was quite romantic - perfect for couples. Breakfast was excellent and included a selection of coffee, fruits, eggs, pancakes, etc. We could customize it to our liking too.

Review 18:Hotel is situated in Messaria, with limited choice of restaurants within walking distance for lunch and evening meals.

Review 19:Good room, good breakfast, friendly staff.

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:One of the best hotels during our honeymoon in Europe. Manager kindly offered us a free upgrade when the suite we booked was not available due to a reason that was not an fault of the hotel, and we thus spent days in the largest suite there. We very much like and miss the paintings inside the room and up on the roof, the sunshine that was cast through the window and surrounded the sofa, the friendly and helpful staff, ... Our best wishes to the staff, especially to the manager, and thank you again if you see this comment.

Review 22:A detail for us, but maybe not for bathroom fans: shower is in the Jacuzzi and there is no curtain or other around it so floor gets easily wet near the bathtub when showering.

Review 23:We had a wonderful staying for holiday and everything sounded perfect. Rooms are big, bright, comfortable, and beautiful. Mesaria is in the middle of the island so that to easily reach all places of interest: beaches, towns, port, airport. Staff is kind and friendly but honours go to Grigoris, the manager, as he ‘shamefully’ spoiled us starting from sublime breakfast, ending to reservations and suggestions of any kind !! We loved it and we’ll seriously take it in consideration when we'll travel again to Santorini.

Review 24:My boyfriend and I spend three days in Markezinis Suities and enjoyed the staying a lot! Their service was great, staff was kind and helpful, and the room was spacious and luxurious! What satisfied us most was the breakfast they offered. You can choose whatever you want on the various breakfast menu every day and no limit on the amount! Besides, you can either eat in your own room or done at the balcony. We actually booked four days there, but some of their air conditioning were broken on the third day. The manager informed us that the main air conditioning system is right above our room, so he asked us if it was acceptable for us to change to another nice hotel that he had booked for us, which is only 100 meters away from their sister hotel Petit Palace (he was planning to book Petit Palace for us but there was no room available on the last day); and he would pay all the spend of the staying there on the last day. He not only offered to drive us to the new hotel, helped us settle down, but also arranged the breakfast for us in Petit Palace! It was a pity that we couldn't stay at Markezinis on the last day but everything he did for us was really kind and thoughtful! We will definitely come back again!!! Thank you for giving us such a nice experience! See you next time! :)))

Review 25:We were disappointed to discover the swimming pool was at the sisterHotel at least 20 mins walk away. So, after flying in from PerthAustralia we like a good swim but we were too exhausted to make theextra 20 mins. If the pool was actually next to this hotel it would getperfect scores! Perhaps offer a lift to guest who want to swim?? Otherwise the hotel was perfect:) Just a suggestion!

Review 26:We loved the room which is beautiful and the bathroom. The breakfast wasthe best on our whole European trip. We are mother with 17 year olddaughter travelling around Europe. At first we were a bit surprised bythe location but quickly realised it was excellent for transport and agreat place to see real Santorinian life. The village is non-touristic(which we loved) and we enjoyed the local restaurant on the corneropposite the bus stop - very reasonable prices and excellent local food. The hotel is very tasteful and the choice of Euro / Greek breakfastin your own private room at your choice of time was wonderful - we wentfor both but loved the Greek one best all home made and top quality. Wehighly recommend this place. The room was gorgeous and perfectly cleanand tasteful - robes, slippers and other luxuries included. A greatstart to our holiday - thank-you! If we visited Santorini again we wouldget accommodation in this village -Mesaria and hire a car for the sights- we came back here at the end of our trip its very central and easy toeverything including the airport. Wonderful.

Review 27:Excellent views of course, and breakfast was good too with a good selection on offer.

Review 28:Nothing!

Review 29:Everything... couldn't ask for more!

Review 30:The staff, Evgenia, Alexandra, and Nektarios, were friendly, helpful and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.

Review 31:-the wifi signal is not stable sometimes but overall it's alright

Review 32:-size of the room -friendly and helpful staff -cleanliness -value for money

Review 33:highly recommended.....this experience is great. All in this hotel is perfect....Grigoris and sofia are very nice and friendly....if i come back Santorini again, I will definitely choose this hotel one more time...

Review 34:Nothing to dislike, but feel booking.com need to make it clearer that the pool at the sister hotel is at least a uphill walk of 20 minutes and there is no pool at Markenzini's although hopefully next season there will be.

Review 35:Markezinis suites is a beautiful old mansion house formerly the home of the Greek prime minister. It has been renovated to a high standard not spoiling any of the architectural features. Everything was perfect we were well looked after by Gregory the new manager. He was happy to recommend places to visit, but as we had visited Santorini last year we knew where we wanted to visit. The rooms were of a very high standard and thoroughly cleaned daily and towels, robes and linen changed frequently. The breakfast were amazing, tasty and presented beautifully a large menu to choose from each day presented to your room or terrace at your chosen time. Fabulous holiday very relaxing in a typical Greek village not for you if you are a party animal. Transport is advisable to see this beautiful island

Review 36:Everything! The hotel itself was always clean and beautifully appointed. The hand painted ceiling in the room was incredible and it was just so comfortable. The manager and other staff were brilliant. They were able to arrange anything we needed from a taxi or hire care to a table at a restaurant. The location was perfect to explore the island as Mesaria is fairly central.

Review 37:Concierge was exceptional. Breakfast was fabulous. Spoiled rotten on our honeymoon.
