Reviews for Albatros Spa & Resort Hotel

Review 1:Spa closed saturday till tuesday. When we booked we expect to use Spa. But was closed during our stay and full hotel. At the website ist say open daily. Receptionist big woman with glasses say its closed and no apology at all. Restaurant Daphne closed as well so we had a buffet dinner which was not much to chose we arrive half hour before closing time and our waiter was not happy at all. Breakfast was very poor and i count 6 breakfast chefs for doing buffet. No passion!

Review 2:Not much.

Review 3:Wifi only for a fee

Review 4:Modern and spacious rooms, clean pool and fantastic breakfast bars, anything you can imagine. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, the rooms are mostly oriented to the pool. Surrounding of the hotel is clean, the beach is nearby. Within walking distance there are plenty of restaurants and shops. I recommend.

Review 5:Be careful with the room that you are going to book. half rooms are in the old building... the pictures in booking.com are not the same with our room. not fair for a 5* hotel

Review 6:Breakfast, good location

Review 7:the 2 rooms suite's ac was too weak& the regular room is too small for 5 stars hotel, the dinner is not very tasty (& for drink you pay extra), wifi costs

Review 8:value for money, very good breakfast, good swimming pool, near the beach, buffet dinner for only 10 euro, free parking nearby, we were upgraded into 2 rooms suite

Review 9:5 star hotel shouldn't charge for wifi. Also charged to use pool table. Be careful if you pay for a sea view room as some are better than others. Some are no better that the pool view rooms.

Review 10:location. cleanliness of the hotel. Friendly staff. great room

Review 11:Having to pay for wifi The gym didnt open until after breakfast Having to pay to play pool in the games room No complimentary water or tea and coffee

Review 12:The staff and cleanliness and location

Review 13:The fact you have to pay for wifi, the dinner is not good value for money just go out and enjoy the area! We also recommend walking to the beaches in the next village.

Review 14:The location was great, our room was lovely with both pool and sea view but we did pay a little extra for a nicer room. The breakfast was great, but we would recommend only doing bed and breakfast as the other meals were not as nice.

Review 15:Excellent hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast, good dinner (for 10 E only). Perfect location - not far from nice (clean and warm water) beach, easily reachable by a direct bus service from the Airport (use bus stop 20 which is close to the hotel). Just 2 hints: to get the coffee at breakfast wait for a waiter (everything else is in the buffer) - normal water caffee is free, real Italian-style coffee is paid. To get the dinner - buy a voucher at the reception and sit down in the restaurant and WAIT for a waiter to show him the voucher. Nobody is checking the voucher at the restaurant entry.

Review 16:The wifi is poor and slow. Anyways enough for whatsapp and surfing.

Review 17:This hotel is amazing, very nice staff getting you with a smile and try to help in anyway.. One of the best hotels ive been to in a long time, and i travel alot.

Review 18:Having to pay got wifi really let the hotel down Limited bacon at breakfast Extremely thick pillows made it difficult to sleep well

Review 19:Staff excellent Location great Spa was amazing! Value for money

Review 20:Two single beds, could also do with bit more cushion and extra pillow. Aside from that I could not fault the hotel it was excellent.

Review 21:Sea view, Location beside beach, food was delicious and great value for money, cleanliness, buffet only 10e, great service, music on certain nights

Review 22:Wi-Fi kept coming and going, nothing serious but if you are paying for it, like here, then it should be a bit better.

Review 23:Location, friendly and helpful staff, modern clean and large rooms.

Review 24:Wifi not included (3€/day/device) Breakfast buffet of poor quality.

Review 25:Nice room with spacious balcony in a new building. Clean. Quiet at night (which you would certainly not get if you take a hotel close to the center). Close to the beach. Nice pool area. Staff members are helpful (except the lady at the reception who was quite unfriendly when we checked in)

Review 26:WiFi was expensive and only had a speed of 0.5 Mbps (i.e. what was considered broadband 10 years ago). Limited to only one device and you have to go to the reception (it's far away) every day to activate it. Terrible iron - couldn't even iron an "easy iron" shirt.

Review 27:Room was nice and clean, bed was reasonable. Shower/bathroom was OK too. Buy bottled water though as water from taps is not good.

Review 28:All good!

Review 29:Excellent facilities with friendly staff. Our son enjoyed the playground and the pool. The breakfast is very good and has a good variety for all tastes. We were lucky with the room, as they upgraded it, and our room was big and had a pool view!

Review 30:The orange juice at breakfast. Tastes more like squash unless freshly squeezed specifically ordered.

Review 31:Good location for shops, restaurants and car/bike hire if required. Good meals served for dinner in the evenings. A very good pool and spa facilities. Very helpful staff.

Review 32:Very poor WiFi connection. We were practically without internetconnection even though we paid 3 euros per device every day!

Review 33:Friendly staff Sea view room Good breakfast Great rooms

Review 34:This hotel is certainly not what we would call 5* in the UK. The reception staff were not over welcoming, we booked 2 "pool view double rooms with mini bar" What we got was two rooms over looking a road at the side of the hotel, and a mini bar fridge with no mini bar, there wasn't even water in the rooms! I had to pay €7 for 2 bottles, then €3 a day for wifi, which you have to type the code in every time you log off! I'm a hotelier in the UK and I don't charge for wifi, or water, maybe I should start! What is it with those so called 5* hotels ripping guests off? The rooms were situated above the dining room and entertainment hall, which staff dragged chairs and tables over the marble floor from early morning and then throughout the day to get ready for the evening resounding round the hotel! I ended up having to go down and tell them to lift them! And finally, don't order a Bloody Mary, 80% vodka and 20% tomato juice with 4 cherry tomatoes, nearly blew my head off!! Vile! Most definitely NOT 5*!

Review 35:Had to pay for WiFi and payment was per device. Not much food to chose from at the buffet. The entrance to the hotel is a bit sad, but once you are in the hotel is beatiful!

Review 36:Staff, location, the room and the vibe in general! Would came back at any time.

Review 37:Check in upon arrival was a ridiculous experience. There were three women behind the reception counter. One elderly woman began to check us in, however, mid-process another guest came up to ask her a question. Instead of wrapping up our check-in and dealing with the guest, the woman stopped everything she was doing (along with the 2 other girls behind the reception counter) to have a long conversation with the other guest about finding her appropriate sheet replacements. (I have no idea why one person couldn't deal with the sheets, whilst another person completed our check in.) We stood there waiting for 10 minutes for 3 people to deal with 1 guest before our check-in was resumed. Next, they asked that we pay in advance for our entire reservation! I was quite displeased at this, as after that check in experience, I had every intention of checking out the next morning and finding a hotel with better staff and service the next day. Sadly, we were too tired to argue and accepted it and moved on. My problem with is actually more with the area than the hotel. As far as resorts go, this is probably the best one you'll find on the block. The unfortunate thing is the standards of the area aren't high to begin with, so they can get away with that sort of service and still get high ratings on booking.com.

Review 38:This was probably the nicest resort in the area, however that's not saying much as the town was on the rough side. (On our way to the hotel from the airport, our taxi driven even told us that this is not a nice neighborhood when it's not tourist season!) The pool area was nice, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The spa staff and service was very good.

Review 39:Wifi cost, not enought chairs around pool

Review 40:All

Review 41:For a big and nice hotel should have free Wifi

Review 42:Location and good room with the veranda

Review 43:Very small beaches and very crowded. Too commercial area. WIFI not free.

Review 44:Food, service and pool

Review 45:great hotel, very nice staff helping with smile to any need, very clean rooms and food

Review 46:Wifi was poor, not reliable

Review 47:Central location, great staff, beautiful poor area, great food

Review 48:Hersonissos town itself, the beach

Review 49:Friendliness and efficiency of the hotel staff

Review 50:Only stayed one night couldnt find any fault

Review 51:Towels on sunbeds

Review 52:Not to big to lose personal touch

Review 53:problems with WIFI

Review 54:evrything !! perfec tocation

Review 55:wifi cost money

Review 56:good location, 5-7 min walking from all the bars, clubs and shops. very good stuff, very clean nice spa

Review 57:Breakfast buffet and loud music at the pool

Review 58:Location, friendliness of staff

Review 59:Wi-Fi was quite poor and it was annoying to have to pay extra for it.

Review 60:Nice location, friendly staff.

Review 61:Wifi is not free.

Review 62:Very nice hotel.

Review 63:Very noisy at night

Review 64:Friendly helpful staff Great central location Beautiful pool and lounge area Clean accomidations

Review 65:Free wifi

Review 66:Pool,room, breakfast, location - all were excellent

Review 67:the lady in the reception when we arrived.

Review 68:We get problems with shower gel change, they didnt change the gel.

Review 69:We like rooms and all staf.was very clean and comfortable.nice breakfast

Review 70:SPA is more or less separate from the hotel and sauna and jacuzzi are not included in the price and you have to pay for it. The only thing you get free are the two pools in the hotel

Review 71:Very nice and calm location, 5 minutes walk to the centre of town. Very nice staff

Review 72:Found the double bed too small. It was quite narrow, needs to be wider or twin beds.

Review 73:Good location, very helpful staff, excellent breakfast, good value.

Review 74:Food had poor quality. Standard room are very old with insects. We were never been told that our room was going to be so old. No minibar. All the hotel services were very expensive. It's not a 5 stars hotel at all. Small and cold swimming pool.

Review 75:Nothing

Review 76:- Wifi is prepaid (3€ per day), cannot be used in more than one device simultaneously. - No double-sized beds, we slept on two beds which were connected with a thin double-sized mattress on top (and you have to specifically ask for it) - Fitness room equipment needs upgrade (e.g, dumbbells weigh up to 3kg only)

Review 77:- Excellent location. A walking distance from everything. - Staff is very nice and helpful, all are english speaking. - Good breakfast. We paid extra for the dinner as well in one of the evenings and it was really worth it.

Review 78:No free wi fi (3 eur/day) Sauna 10 eur /30 min!)

Review 79:Excellent hotel for this money ( I had superior room for 55e), cosy andcomfortable. Reception zone is respectful and nice decorated. Pool israther big and clean, pool area is nice and relaxing. Comfortable barzone, inside and outside. Everything looks new and clean and goodorganized. Food is not very variety but ok, restaurant and bar stuff isvery careful and helpful. Fantastic reception stuff, very nice andprofessional, solving all the questions fast and effective. If you havelate flight you can stay in the hotel after checking out using all thefacilities, keep your things in a 24 hour guarded luggage room and go tothe beach or swimming pool, and after take a shower and change) Ifpossible, they allow late checkout ( till 14.00 free of charge) Locationis very good, quiet, at the beginning of the Hersonissos, very close toeverything, 1 min from the beach (if you go few steps to the left alongthe beach you can use Greta Maris hotel beach.) Very close to embankmentwith all tourist bars and restaurants and Hersonissos night life, and 5min from the shopping area.

Review 80:Wi-fi costs 3 euros/day.Breakfast poor quality. The hotel is more 3star plus.

Review 81:Spacious rooms, staff polite and friendly. Nice pool. Good location.

Review 82:The pool and pool side bar/area was lovely, great to relax in comfort after spending the day at the beach. It’s close to many restaurants and bars and the cocktails at the poolside bar were very good where there’s great entertainment a couple nights a week. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Review 83:we had to stay at the old part that was a leftover of the 60;s. the double bed was for one person and the wind at the 3 rd floor was too noisy. budget hotel for someone who has never been into a proper hotel.

Review 84:- breakfast (a lot but not so yummi) - smell of smoke from other rooms - swimmingpool was too cold

Review 85:- nice view from balcony - big room - great location (by the sea & close to baywalk)

Review 86:Did not separate smokers from non smokers in the dining area and a lot of people smoked. No choice of pillows and it was a bit large for sleeping. Bed was a bit hard.

Review 87:Friendly an helpful staff Location Very clean Meals were good quality Internet access reasonable price Short walk to the beach Ease of public transport

Review 88:The rooms in the old building are definitely lower in quality than in the new buildings. The bed was not that comfortable and the decor is very basic. However, this is probably reflecting in the low price that we got, and as it was, we spent the day outside in the sun, pool, beach and spa - so no big deal.

Review 89:The Albatros hotel Staff is unbelievably friendly. The food was excellent, we tried to go to restaurants outside the hotel - waste of money and time. Dinner/Lunch buffet for two costs only 20 Euros, and this is the best and tastiest deal yo can get. This was a wonderful vacation and for that I give a lot of credit to the hotel staff and facilities.

Review 90:Take only the rooms in the new buildingsWe had a room in the first floor and it was abit noisy, we aske to change and we got a quit room in the 3rd floor Breakfast is very nice but pretty much the same evey day

Review 91:All was great! Room are very nice and clean. Staff are very nice Pool isgreat! Feels like a boutique hotel

Review 92:The only negative I can say is that I wish there was a non smoking area for eating or no smoking at the eating area this would be most welcome

Review 93:There are no real negatives all the staff were amazing they could not do enough and made our stay very special, we did not want to come home everywhere was extremely clean the cleaning angels work so hard as did everyone in the hotel . I wish I could name them all but everyone was super. Alex at the beach bar is a really asset but honestly everyone was wonderful thank you

Review 94:We stayed here for 9 nights in august 13 as a last stop on ourislandhopping aroung Greece. It was what we needed. To relax in a luxuryhotel before going home to the real life. During our trip we did notalways stay in 5 star hotel so this was really nice. I would not call ita 5 star hotel though but perhaps 4 + /4,5 if there is somethinglike this. The hotel consists of two different parts. The fist one buildin 1992 but renovated in 2007 (I think) is older where the reception is.If I read the reviews right the rooms are not so nice. We stayed in thenew part (build it 20087) with a superior room with a view over the seaand we loved it. The room (superior room with a view over the sea) wasbig and nice and overlooking both the sea and the pool. Room 372 . Itshared the balcony with two other rooms but our room was at the end sowe had a big nice balcony of our own. The bathroom is really nice andthe waterpressure is really strong!!! The room has a safe (for free) andthat is nice. The beds are really comfortable. We are 2 adults with twochildren (7 and 10) and we fit into a room with a double bed and a sofa. The room 372 is a bit bigger than the regular rooms. The only negativething I can say about the room is the toilettpaper. It is so bad. I knowthat I sound like a spoiled american =). But it is so weak and breakstoo easy. I went to the spa and had a pedicure for 35 euro – for an hourand it was nice and the girl made a very good job on my feets. OnWednesdays there is winetasting in the pool bar and you get some smallcheese and vegetables to go with it. That was nice! On Thursdays thereis a greek cooking lesson at noon. The chef – Konstantinos shows how tomake a fishdish and how to do the “greek” bruschetta. That is reallynice. And if you have children there is a picknick in the childrensclub. And there is a lot of food like pizza, frenchfries, toasts, chips, melon etc.

Review 95:Incredibly it is supposed to be a 5 star-hotel. Indeed not worth a 4 star! As a matter of fact: - The beds are narrow and hard; - The minimum hygiene is not guaranteed; - The breakfast food is of extremely poor quality (for example, chemical orange juice, disgusting ham and sausages, mouldy bread, etc.). Moreover, the staff is arrogant and you must pay for internet (in what is told to be a 5 star-hotel). In conclusion, everything is common and vulgar at Albatros and you should avoid what is just a fake of luxuary hotel.

Review 96:Hersonissos is not a nice town. Too much partypeople and that is not good for us. But if you want party it is good.

Review 98:one day at a standard room was too much: smell was bad, old design, no remotes (air con or tv). elevator to the standard room section of the hotel was very old and narrow. doors with old keys " 'safe' " as well (so did'nt use it). double bed was actually two single beds put together.

Review 99:nice food, over whole good staff, nice pool, and very good sun bathing recliners. The Superior Rooms was the best: new design, clean, fresh and tidy, just like one would like it to be. there's also Spa, mini supermarket, bar, etc.

Review 100:Having to pay for spa facilities jacuzzi , steam room and even power plate in the gym. Opening hours for the gym was 10-8pm and being a 24hr hotel I would like to use the gym earlier than 10am. Also the resort was not the ideal venue however this dose not spoil the fantastic hotel with exceptionally helpful and friendly staff and excellent restaurant

Review 101:This was our first visit to Crete and the Albatros Spa &Resort Hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and very attentive. The facilities and location are excellent however we were disappointed that Spa jacuzzi , steam room and e en the power plate were at extra costs which we thought were part of the hotel faculties and therefore included in the price. Our room was a superior room which was excellent. The hotel restaurant and food met our high expectations and the food was excellent. The location was next to the beach and a 5min walk into town/harbour with night life on your door step. However the resort would probably suit those wanting a lively resort.

Review 102:They have two builidings, the reception building is old. The wifi is notso functional and cost 3 euro/day.

Review 103:The staff are so helpful, I am grateful for them. The breakfast isalso good.

Review 104:Wonderful staff, great service, comfortable rooms, great entertainment and loved the elevator music! Upgrade it's worth it. We had 5 wonderful nights here.

Review 105:the old building

Review 106:the location

Review 107:this is not a 5 star hotel. service on the reception is not good. the food is bad.

Review 108:Wireless network a bit sketchy and should probably be free instead of 3euros per day.

Review 109:Good service, even after the checkout!

Review 110:Doctor cost 80€ which is a little bit overprized for general consultation

Review 111:Nice personnal and room

Review 112:Non diverse breakfast, there weren't vanity set and hair conditioner in the room

Review 113:Location, spa, very friendly staff, superior room

Review 114:nothing

Review 115:great hotel on the beach. perfect staff. fast service. second visit, and would certainly go again!

Review 116:Excellent hotel. Good food and facilities, very clean and friendly staff, good location , easy acess to beach and shops. Would recommend ..

Review 117:Clean, friendly people, comfort,

Review 118:Very kind staff and owners, very helpfull

Review 119:the old part of the hotel us realy bad

Review 120:Small bathrooms at the rooms and lack of self beach with reserved sunbeds.

Review 121:Good location, friendly staff, clean and very nice.

Review 122:Great location, great stuff, great food.Just GREAT.....

Review 123:Really nice sea view room in new part
