Reviews for Holiday Zigos

Review 1:No glass to drink out of! At least plastic! Please. It would also be nice to have a hairdryer.

Review 2:I was brought cake and cold water on arrival. Safe, enclosed parking across the street. Basic, but outdoor terrace, if weather was better. Excellent location to get ferries.

Review 3:Google map is wrong and sent me around the corner, beware. Not the place's fault though

Review 4:The woman who checked me in at 6 am after stepping off an all night ferry. Told me to relax, go to bed. Then fed me a nice breakfast. 300 meters from ferry port from Italy.

Review 5:Nothing to dislike.

Review 6:When I booked, I asked if there would be a problem if our ferry from Italy was delayed, as check-in closed at 23.00. I got a reply saying ' No problem, we will be waiting for you', and that's what happened. We drove off the ferry at 00.30, 1.5 hours late! and had difficulty finding the apartments because our sat-nav did not recognise Greece. I called the apartments and the son came on his scooter to lead us there, and this was after 01.00 in morning. On getting to our room he even fetched us two large Ouzos 'To help us sleep' :-) which worked a treat. In the morning we were given a more than adequate breakfast before heading on our travels again. Igoumenitsa is really just a ferry port town, but should I ever pass this way again I will certainly re-book at 'Holiday Zigos'

Review 7:We had no bad experience but perhaps this is not a place to book to go on holiday really as its in an industrial area, unless you just need a good value clean friendly base from which to be elsewhere.

Review 8:Proximity to port for late night ferry arrival. Staff very helpful, stayed up for us.

Review 9:I enjoyed my stay at a lovely hotel run by a special family: they put every effort to help and assist me in all respects. Giorgios and his family are special people devoted to their family run business, very helpful and extremely nice. The rooms are spotless, the breakfast plentiful and delicious, and I also received a gift from my host: a jar of olives from their own farm, plus the welcome beer :). I will definitely come back if I have a chance. P.S. Very impressed also with their love for animals and the way they trained the lovely Hera (the family's dog)

Review 10:Unfortunately, the mattress was more firm than we like and the bathroom was extremely small with an uncomfortable shower. Although the location near the ferry is convenient, the location relative to the town is not. It's good 15-20 minute walk to a more interesting part of town.

Review 11:The two great things about the property was its convenient location very near the port for ferries coming from Italy, which is great if your ferry arrives late at night. It's literally visible from the exit of the ferry terminal. The second great thing is the Zigos husband and wife. They clearly enjoy having people stay at their property. Mr. Zigos gave us a lift to a nearby beach and explained how to return and later gave us a lift to the bus station. He also gave us a gift of a jar of olives from his family farm. We also enjoyed playing with their cats and dog. Near the hotel is a very nice restaurant with a beautiful garden patio and delicious, abundantly portioned food.

Review 12:The owner was amazing and so helpful. He met us b/c we were lost then dropped us off across the street @ the port w/all our luggage. Breakfast was delicious! There was a fabulous restaurant less than 5 minutes away. We loved it so much we went there 2 nights in a row.

Review 13:Nothing, we were genuinely happy customers.

Review 14:My sister and I were travelling back to Europe and George Zigos greeted us speaking good English. Very attentive. My sister was worried about her expensive car, however there was a small fenced off road parking area and we were assured the car would be safe (and it was) as they could close gate at night and open early. His parent sleep on site. Very easy with the dog, plenty of safe walking area on back roads. Great food nearby.

Review 15:Our ship arrived two hours late. The Zigos was close by, but the owner had called us to say that we just had to ring the door bell. He welcomed us and took us to our room, which was spacious and clean. He brought us mineral water and a plate of delicious watermelon.

Review 16:No bad points.

Review 17:This place is amazing, you actually feel like you are staying in someone's home, very warm welcome and they can't do enough for you. Excellent home cooked breakfast on the back porch looking at the mountains. Rooms are very homely with everything you need. If you get a chance eat at the little place up the road past the church, home style Greek cooking at it's best. Across the road from the international port approx 1km from domestic port (approx 2.50 euros can ride). Loved our 1 night stay here.

Review 18:Helpful and attentive Staff, various breakfest served directly to the room on time. Located very close to the Ferry Terminal and autoroute exit. Specious room, equiped everything we need.

Review 19:My visit was a short one, only overnight to get the ferry in the morning, which was only a few minutes walk away. I was met with a friendly welcome, a coffee and home made spinach pie.

Review 20:Nothing--it was a ideal place.

Review 21:When I arrived by ferry, it was night, raining and I was a little disoriented. I couldn't find the place and finally stopped at a gas station for help. He called the hotel and they came and collected me, showing the way to the hotel, getting my car dpsafely in secure parking and then carrying my bag to my room. I was leaving before 6 the next morning and told them I wouldn't be at breakfast and at 5:30 the owner brought me hot tea and fruit to my room, with a vase of fresh flowers!

Review 22:I have nothing to dislike

Review 23:Family run hotel offering very pleasant helpful service. Super breakfast served in the room in time for a very early departure. Hotel Zygos is located in the perfect spot for ferry connections.

Review 24:This is a great option if you are using the Brindisi to Igmoumenistra ferry. Perfect host, fantastic breakfast, right at the dock, very clean and quiet. Look no further. This is one of those unexpected jewels.

Review 25:We arrived by boat from Venice at ca. 10pm. Holiday Zigos was (just) visible from the exit of the ferry terminal and a very short walk. We had a good sized clean room on the first floor, and were given a decent breakfast in the morning.

Review 26:Very friendly people. Willing to do everything to make your stay comfortable. They even pick you up from the ferry when they know your time of arrival.

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:We only stayed one night as we were in Igoumenitsa to take the ferry early in the morning. We were given a very warm welcome by George the owner who offered us figs and watermelon from his village. The hotel is really clean and ideal to take the ferry as the port is literally across the road.

Review 29:our room was extremely clean the owners are a lovely couple: we arrived late and the lady was waiting for us awake; the morning after she prepared us a yummy breakfast with homemade local food and her husband kindly drove us to the old port, 2 km away from their hotel. I would definitely recommend!

Review 30:This is perfect place for sleep before you take your ferry trip from Igoumenitsa. Right opposite of the port terminal and next to the agencies and food places. We couldn't find better. Parking in front, simple clean room, air conditioning was quiet, fridge, Wi-Fi. Staff available and friendly.

Review 31:We were more than pleased with our stay at Zigos. We arrived very late, but the owner gladly stayed up waiting for us with a plate is fresh fruits. His wife was a very lovely woman who made us a real Greek breakfast the morning after. Amazing!

Review 32:Bathrooms are a little outdated but clean and Christos and Yianna's hospitality more than make up for it

Review 33:Christos and Yianna went out of their way to help us out, keep us comfortable and make sure our visit was memorable and we were only there overnight, in transit to Corfu. For us, that spoke volumes!! And Yianna's diples are simply mouth watering. If you like dogs, you will also love good natured Era but if you don't, don't fear because she is trained to stay at a safe distance unless invited!! All in all, a great example of that famous Greek hospitality!

Review 34:All of it great staff and room

Review 72:This is a good Hotel when you are getting the Ferry in the early morning

Review 73:Very friendly staff!

Review 74:A new clean and spacy appartment near the town of Igoumenitsa in reasonable price

Review 75:The owner picked us up from the port and dropped us off in the morning. It was excellent service. Upon our arrival we were offered beverages free of charge abd the next morning we were brought breakfast in our room. The room was spotless and very large and the location is excellent.

Review 76:The couple that owns this hotel is the sweetest. They're really great, super friendly people that do everything for their customers! The woman helped us with everything we asked for, gave us free breakfast when we arrived way too early and the husband drove us around! We've had an extremely nice stay. If you need an hotel in Igoumenitsa, really, you have to stay here!!

Review 77:Fridge but no kettle or tea or coffee making facilities. Several kms from the corfu and igoumenitsa ferry berthing although 50m from commercial end of very long quay. We feel, given this was our 10th greek accommodation in 5 weeks, that it is overpriced

Review 78:Basic room, very clean. Good host with very good english who collected us at the ferry and took us back the following morning.

Review 79:Cannot think of any faults.

Review 80:Location close to ferry ideal for early departure; friendly staff - even a welcome tray of tea & cake on arrival; spotlessly clean & comfortable; excellent value for money. So good I want to keep it as my secret place to stay! Don't change anything.

Review 81:The staff were extremely helpful, even driving us to and from our car when it broke down. They kept in touch with our garage and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. The breakfast was a feast, served in our own room!

Review 82:Mattress was old ,lumpy, could not sleep. Noisy by trucks

Review 83:The lady that runs the place gave us excellent advice, stored car, restaurant suggestion . Even sent her husband to help us find the hotel!

Review 84:Great value for money, spacious full apartments- balconies, kitchens, bathrooms, for the price of a budget hotel. Also easy walking distance from the port which is nice if you just got off a 28 hour ferry ride. The father-son team are so kind and helpful, they made us feel very welcome.

Review 85:Welcomed as we arrived with luggage carried in. Given cups of tea and biscuits. Warm comfortable room. Woken early as requested to catch ferry to Venice. Wifi worked perfectly. All in all good value and would use again if passing through Igoumenitsa, especially if catching the ferry. Terminal is only a 100 metres away from the hotel.

Review 86:Spotlessly clean, very friendly and less than 2 minutes from the ferry port (we had a very early departure so this was ideal). Great value - we will stay here whenever catching the ferry from Igoumenitsa.

Review 87:everything was excellent. very friendly welcome- tea and apple pie when we arrived. well positioned for exploring mainland greece and for ferry port. would highly recommend

Review 88:We slept quite well, but the beds could be upgraded a bit so as to have a more comfortable base of wooden slats.

Review 89:Excellent welcome, with a delicious cake and a bottle of water. The service is very well organized. A primary location, close to the international section of the ferry port. Very good value for money.

Review 90:The owner (Jana) was very friendly. We arrived at 2:30 a.m. from the ferry terminal and Jana welcomed us with orange juice, water, and oranges and helped us to settle in our apartment. The apartment was cleaned, had kitchen, dining table, sofa, private bathroom and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. We’ll definitely stay again.

Review 91:The apartment was not modern, one light bulb had blown and the noise linking the light in the bathroom to the ventilator.

Review 92:The breakfast, the homemade doughnuts covered in honey tasted wonderful and even better when brought to the room. The service was excellent.

Review 93:Extractor in bathroom very noisy. French doors to balcony didn't close properly so had to jam them with stool as was very windy night. BUT couldn't complain at the price.

Review 94:Owner couldn't do enough. Welcomed us with tea and cake. Had suite with kitchen/diner and two balconies. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was superb. Opposite ferry port to Italy where we were travelling to the next day. 10 minute walk to grill room which owner recommended.

Review 95:The owners were so so friendly and attentive to our needs. Super well located to the ferry port clean and excellent value for money, with a lovely breakfast provided even for a very early morning departure.

Review 96:The owners were very polite. They allowed us to check in very early in the morning. The even came to us at the evening to ask if we need a breakfast for next morning. There is free parking and wi-fi.

Review 97:Not about the hotel, but Igoumenitsa is not the city you want to visit. It´s more a transit city (ferry connections to lot of Greek Islands).

Review 98:The hosts were super nice! Greek people in general are great. The location was also really good. (few meters from the port) For the value of the money is more than fair!

Review 99:Located just behind the port of Igoumenitsa, Holiday Zigos is a convenient stop if you're arriving or leaving Greece by ferry to or from Italy or to the islands of Corfu or Paxi. The rooms are clean, confortable, offer A/C, wifi, a good shower. Also a base to visit the Epirus region.

Review 100:Very friendly welcome with fresh fruit platter and a nice cool drink. Much appreciated after our long journey. Lovely spacious apartment with separate kitchen and 2 balconies. Excellent location close to ferry port. Ideal for onward travel or longer stay.

Review 101:We loved it here. It was so clean and the owners were lovely. There are no frills at all, but we did not need any. Just a simple but perfect, spotlessly clean place where we really managed to feel at home. SUper convenient for the international ferries which leave from almost right opposite.

Review 102:* wifi-internet was not working (i guess it could get fixed if I reported it) * Unfortunately, Igoumenitsa doesn't have anything to offer apart from the port

Review 103:* very friendly and helpful staff * received a bowl of fruits upon arrival
