Reviews for Hodhamidbar Resort & Spa Hotel

Review 1:Regular pool was closed

Review 2:The room The facilities The Spa The proximity to the shore of the Dead Sea (Right on the shore) The food The cleanliness The calm atmosphere

Review 3:Got a parking ticket while parking at the mall in Ein Bokek. Be careful of that.

Review 4:Excellent location, right on the shore of The Dead Sea. Delicious breakfast buffet. Awesome scenery. Relaxing like no place else on earth. Rejuvenating spa experiences.

Review 5:A lot of the other guests looked so miserable. I fail to understand how anybody staying at this resort could not be happy to be there.

Review 6:The location right on the shoreline was perfect. The staff were all excellent and friendly. The food was terrific.

Review 7:The swimming pool was always busy with children playing and not that large to accommodate everyone comfortably. Very busy poolside so couldn't always find chairs. Many people smoking. Smoking should not be allowed by a pool.

Review 8:Perfect location on the Dead Sea. The standard room was a good size. Most importantly, the bed was comfortable and it was very quiet. The breakfast and dinners were amazing. So much choice. You couldn't help but find something you liked, even the picky eater would find food they liked! At night, they had fun entertainment and overall, the vibe was great. They were generous with room and beach towels. They had a boardwalk that ran from the hotel along the beach to other hotels which was very pleasant to walk along in the evening. I would highly recommend it.

Review 9:No balcony in rooms. Baths are outdated. There was a water running non stop from the yellow emergency tap on the beach, and I was told that is is not the hotels job to repare it. Unfortunately my room had a side view, so not much to share.

Review 10:Great position, friendly and helpful stuff

Review 11:Very expencive restaurant (45$ meal/pearson) with almost no alternatives. Cleaning personell takes towels from the floor and put them back to shelves =( No fresh fruits.

Review 12:Cool spa prcedures. Very clean and nice beach area.

Review 13:The food (dinner + breakfast) wasn't so great - very surprising.

Review 14:The location is amazing! Right on the beach. Our 2-year-old son looovvedd the toddler pool. The spa was very nice - there is a sulfur pool, a Dead Sea water pool, a Jacuzzi and sauna. We had a few spa treatments, which were excellent and not too pricey (they also had a few discounts going on while we were there). They also gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for our anniversary, which was a nice touch.

Review 15:They charged us 88 dollars extra for my daughters to have a single bed. The two beds they brought up were filthy and looked they would be in crack house

Review 16:The people were nice. The breakfast was good and the dinner while over priced was good

Review 17:not enough parking so change is needed to feed the parking meter across the street 25 shekels daily!

Review 18:easy access to the beach. dead sea water pool inside the hotel.

Review 19:.. this hotel give the right impression of the Dead Sea. The private beach is fantastic.. Service with towels - food - spa everything is just "value for money"

Review 20:The staff were not helpful and the food was terrible .

Review 21:Very convenient location to the sea but spa not so nice or clean. The staff were very rude except for one person who actually helped a lot.

Review 22:No parking, no late check out on shabbat...yet no cappuccino on shabbat either....view of the garbage bins from our room, very slow and small lifts and stupidly small towels. Dinner was very expensive and very 'stam' (ordinary) and they don't accept american express.

Review 23:Decent facilities, easy to get to the water.

Review 24:it's in the desert but there are no water bottles in the rooms and in the mini bar There is not enough parking for guests we had to pay an outside parking lot a very slow internet connection

Review 25:,The hotel is on the beach front good breakfast

Review 26:This wasn't a bad experience, but we definitely felt like we were the youngest people there.

Review 27:Right on the Dead Sea, made it so easy for us to enjoy the water. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice.

Review 28:Very chaotic at the SPA. People queue to get a chair to put their staff on it. The overall impression - railway station at peak hour. And the second thing is lifts. We were editing for ages to get into one.

Review 29:The reception staff was very helpful.

Review 30:Towels too thin and not cleaned well. Needs overall update. Lobby lacking charm. Finding parking was a big issue.

Review 31:Helpful staff. Location. Access to beach and overall facilities.

Review 32:The breakfast on Saturday wasn't perfect. Limited parking in the hotel. We had to park outside - about 30 meters from hotel. It costs 25 NIS/day this way. Twin beds only (according to the receptionist).

Review 33:Great location - near the sea. Nice staff. Good breakfast. We will visit again.

Review 34:I like to eat hot oatmeal porridge for breakfast daily but some days it wasn't served.

Review 35:the bedroom, beach and spa were very good. the free computer terminals and free international calls were the best!

Review 36:The three elevators are tiny and old, takes forever to move up and down; the food is surprisingly un-tasty, and the selection is poor. It is advisable to get lunches or dinners in the Lot hotel few minutes away.

Review 37:Amazing location, rooms are facing the sea, theys are large, very comforatble and very beautiful, nice pool, beautiful beach, you can get the best massage in a wonderful spa

Review 38:Arrangements between booking.com and hotel were not good-terms were not honored and booking.com did not help. Food was inconsistent. We had some terrific dishes, but also were served leftovers a few times. Staff friendliness was also inconsistent.

Review 39:Location was wonderful. Spa pools and Dead Sea access were very good.

Review 40:The hotel (the pools, elevators, lobbies, shop--every public space/corner) was very full, overwhelmingly with Russian-speakers with whom I (as a non-Russian and non-Hebrew speaker) could not communicate. Facilities (spa, pools) were crowded but adequate, though all had seen better days. Could use an update.

Review 41:The location flanking the Dead Sea was lovely. Facial was nice, and the breakfast was ample. Free phones and internet were great.

Review 42:It was a missunderstand around my booking, I had to pay extra for a dinner they said was included. They refused take any blame for the mixup, thats very bad costumer service!

Review 43:I liked the bed! Close to the beach.

Review 44:Full of russians, more like a place where my parents would stay, not for young people Old facilities and the spa feels like an old people soup pot Breakfast was served in plastic plates!!! No idea why is a 4 star hotel Pay extra and stay at Isrotel

Review 45:Proximity to the beach

Review 46:1) hotel situated directly at the beach 2) indoor dead sea pool, sulphur pool & jacuzzi & other facilities are clean & well maintained 3) breakfast spread is good 4) room & towels are clean 5) the staff are polite & front office staff are polite & efficient 6) free WiFi/Internet 7) free international calls 8) hotel looks new & clean 9) quieter room & can't hear noise @ the corridors 10) fruits were served after we checked in. What a pleasant gesture

Review 47:Food, no fruits for breakfast! Poor variety of food, every day the same. No iron in the room, broken plumbing, TV, refrigerator-for everything had to call to be fixed.

Review 48:Staff tried their best to pleased Especially barman, waiter, cleaning girl.

Review 49:the dead sea water swimming pool is full of people, approx. more than 50~70 people in a small pool (about 200 square feet), and more than a dozen people squeezed in a small sauna room not bigger than 50 square feet... Just imagined that picture and the cleaning and safety issues raised by the over capacity. the room is poor in soundproof as well.

Review 50:the room is quite big and breakfast is simple but good, staff is friendly as well.

Review 51:no parking onsite, night staff rude, staff entered the room at 00:00 uninvited, loud music 01:00 on beach needed to call security, noisy guests all hours of night and early morning, building site work started at 07:00, maintenance drilling next door 08:15, management unhelpful and rude, all in all a disaster, we will not recommend, not worth the money.

Review 52:not much breakfast was nice though chaotic no instructions what where how.

Review 53:TV, bad reception muddled channels.I think there should be a מדריך in the Gym. Bed too soft.

Review 54:Beautiful surroundings, excellent Spa. Marvellous gym, new equipment..Lovely spacious room, lovely view, excellent bathroom and everything in good working condition.

Review 55:The meals, except Saturday breakfast were of excellent quality with a wide range of dishes to choose from. The beds were very comfortable with lots of room, and the air conditioner kept the room at an ambient temperature. The spa opens at 7.30 and is very well staffed with plenty room for the guests.

Review 56:Rooms were a bit older, dated (but clean)

Review 57:Direct acces to Dead Sea; variety of indoor pools/spas; Russian massage therapists were great; friendly helpful staff; great Sea view from our room; safe in closet; daily breakfast buffet had enough options that we didn't mind the same buffet for 5 days.

Review 58:(temporary) construction work next door

Review 59:Positive and helpful attitude of staff, proximity to the Dead Sea, huge range of food available for breakfast and dinner and spa facilities.

Review 60:Not enough parking. Had to park in municipal lot across the road which charged.

Review 61:Good location on the Dead Sea with a well maintained beach. Room was clean comfortable and quiet.

Review 62:Cleaning ladies demanded money to do their jobs (not very clean rooms), a knife that I bought was took by them, not value but still..., I remained jammed in the elevator with my family for more than 20 minutes and manager told me that he already apologized to someone else, is not his fault and before leaving, they tried to charge me extra 300 euro for food that was paid in the beginning.

Review 63:Location was extremely nice, quiet, sunny, hot

Review 64:They charged me with approximatively 1000 $ even though the price I got from you was 700$. They told me that I have to add VAT. This is a steel! The showers are far away from the shore.

Review 65:Dead See is magnificent and the Hotel is on the shore

Review 66:If you want "two beds", expect them to be pushed together like its one bed. The staff was pushy. The hotel (or maybe just the beach?) is under construction so there was very limited parking, and there is construction on the beach ... For as pricey as it was the quality was just not there.

Review 67:It's close to the biggest part of a "town" thats at the Dead Sea, the breakfast and dinner while really expensive were good.

Review 68:Don't come with children. Hidden charges are excessive.

Review 69:Beach.

Review 70:Hotel is old-fashioned.

Review 71:Good location in front of the dead sea.

Review 72:Very good staff

Review 73:food, old hotel, too much expensive for what is it..........

Review 74:No parking at all , very frustrating. Not enough beds in pool

Review 75:Staff was nice and gentle. Clean hotel

Review 76:It was all the ridiculous expensive

Review 77:The magnificent Dead Sea

Review 78:Nothing

Review 79:Everything

Review 80:spa and pool are closed by 06:30 p.m. in the summer time and restaurant also closed at 09:00 p.m.

Review 81:The location "in front" of the dead sea

Review 82:The room, though small, was nice, clean, modern and comfortable. The food was excellent!

Review 83:Food Poor A/C Poor wireless Room 3 star

Review 84:Pool area beach area

Review 85:Food was not great. Room was postage stamp size.

Review 86:Staff was helpful. Facitliies were quite good, including access to the Sea.

Review 87:Old hotel, most guests also over 70

Review 88:Clean and room maintance

Review 89:Food and the beach,

Review 90:Free drinking (filtered) water that this hotel makes for its guests to stay hydrated, sulfar pool

Review 91:Good location, great beach and the sea. Friendly staff, everything was great!!! Special dinner on Friday evening-tasty:)!!!

Review 92:Dinner wasn't very tasty.

Review 93:Good location. Nice beach.

Review 94:Very tired looking hotel. Breakfast was terrible. Entertainment was for over 70. Fruit plate rediculous

Review 95:Staff lovely. Beach great

Review 96:The breakfast was just ok.

Review 97:Fabulous facilities! Great staff!

Review 98:The staff are quite rude and unhelpful.

Review 99:Bed unconfortable, the spa facilities were old and crowded, breakfast quite bad

Review 100:construction works near by

Review 101:great spa center

Review 102:Poor breakfast, very basic rooms, not really comfortable

Review 103:Excellent location

Review 104:Great hotel with outstanding breakfast.

Review 105:The service

Review 106:The Dead Sea

Review 107:Location

Review 108:Private beach, SPA, food, peaceful and quiet as we all had a very good sleep!

Review 109:Old and ineffective Airconditioning.Rooms and Bathroom old and rundown.

Review 110:Breakfast was Good. Proximity to the Dead Sea, private beach.

Review 111:evening meal was a buffet and was not inspirational. bit like a canteen

Review 112:location and ambience

Review 113:Mirit was extremely helpful. She responded to our distress with kindness and efficiency. Toda!

Review 114:Check-in time after 15.00 o'clock & checkout until 11.00. So if its written its next to the Dead Sea & the pictures are excellent, but reality is so different, there are construction works on the beach, so it all looks really trashy.

Review 115:The hotel room was clean & cozy, breakfast with varied choice.

Review 116:It is way better than the low rating, more like 8-8.2 compared to other hotels I booked on bookings.com. The location, pool, size of the room all good. A bit old and also expensive. But that's the norm in Israel.

Review 117:The parking lot is rather small for the size of the hotel.

Review 118:Hod Hamidbar is a lovely resort hotel with direct Dead Sea beach access and beautiful facilities. Upon check-in, we were upgraded to a suite, which was well-appointed and spotless. The breakfast buffet had extensive offerings and was delicious. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return the next time we are in Israel.

Review 119:Within in the worst three Hotels I have ever stayed in. Abysmal service, dirty facilities and a giant construction site as "private beach". My wife and I made the mistake of spending our annual vacation in this hotel. The room itself is dirty, stinke and is everything but I expect from a 400USD night.. Service starting from checkin to restaurant and service staff was abysmal. The "beautiful private beach" as advertised with pictures turned out to be a giant construction site with trash and filth lying around anywhere. The "Sauna" is intended to merely be able to state on the webside that the hotel has a Sauna and not for the enjoyment of their guests. I cannot and will not recommend this hotel to anyone. I have stayed in worse hotels, but concerning the price/value I would rate this hotel as the worst I have ever stayed in. I have complaint and no replys after 14days. At the moment I am considering involvier my lawyer.

Review 120:BEWARE THE BEACH FRONTS ARE CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT!!! When we arrived we were told the beach was closed, the government were doing a refurbishing project to beach fronts - I enquired as to why we were not contacted and told this would be happening, as we could have changed our travel dates. We came to this hotel specifically for its access to the beach/Dead Sea. I was told they were only informed about it 24hrs ago - I said I had trouble believing that a multi million dollar govennment project would let hotels know in 24hrs their beaches would be closed. As far as I'm concerned the hotel had a responsibility to contact us and let us know so we had the option of moving our dates or cancelling all together. Why else would we be schlepping all the way down to the Dead Sea other than to use the beach??

Review 121:Unable to walk to the Dead Sea Having to park across the street & pay Check in was rather difficult

Review 122:breakfast was wonderful massage - great value clean room courteous staff

Review 123:I Think this The Best hotel you can stay In dead sea for The privé value it Was a great enjoyable stay The shabath diner is nowhere to Compare it was a pleasant experience This hotel is a Place i want to come back To

Review 124:The food could have been better. It was a little high in price. The dining room staff were not always helpful and many did not speak English so they didn't respond to what I asked for.

Review 125:The staff are friendly & helpful. The rooms are clean. The free internet was great. It is on the beach so that is very convenient.

Review 126:The staff was non responsive to customer concerns.. They at times wererude ( reception staff) and did not make me feel the customer/guestis important to them. The fitness center has extremely limited hours. Its small size and restricted hours make it difficult for the guest tomake use of it.

Review 127:This resort is physically beeautiful and its convenience to the Dead Seamake it very desirable.

Review 128:we had a very relaxing stay at the hod Hotel, dead seal.this hotel is right on the beach, with the great salty dead sea there to relax you, great beach and facilities,,if you do not want sand ,try the hotel spa, same salt sea pool, float with jacuzzi and sauna, and many other expert treatments available by specialists, The hotel itself, rooms excellent, not big but smart ,clean,tv, kettle and fridge ,air con,The meals were superb in quality and quantity, and buffet style,Staff were smart and helpful in all areas. All in all ,very satisfied and will return

Review 129:i lost my mobile Galaxy 3 and no efforts was made by the staff. In particular that it was stolen mid night where the workers are the first people to arrive and they could find it but thy stole it instead. the additional bed is so bad and not comfortable

Review 130:There is no actual working lifeguard at the pool and often times both adults and kids jump into the pool in any area including where people are swimming...there is no thought to put up one swimming lane and use the rest of the pool for people who like to just jump into the pool or stand around in the water and talk. the pool is large enough to accomodate both. For the money per night in a room there should be some consideration for those people who enjoy swimming!

Review 131:The sea and sea water pools available at the hotel, plus the gym.
