Reviews for Leonardo Hotel Ashkelon
Review 1:There seems to be some deferred maintenance - probably because a lot of foreign travelers do not come to Ashkelon as it is so close to the Gaza border.
Review 2:Staff was lovely- location was great.
Review 3:The host additional charge me for 1-year baby stay 10%. It was a pity. because almost property doesn't do it for so small kids.
Review 4:The balcony view, bathroom and breakfast
Review 5:Bathrooms slightly tatty but functional. Hypercritical but that is what I saw
Review 6:Staff very friendly and helpful. A credit to the hotel. Breakfast and food excellent.
Review 7:The first unpleasant surprise upon our arrival was that the price I booked through Booking.com did not include the 18% VAT, The second surprise was that there were no available room keys since the coding machine had a failure…it took the until the evening time to solve it… The bed was wide but a bit firm for our taste.
Review 8:I selected this hotel for the family weekend (4 rooms) since it is conveniently located near the sea shore, the boats marine, several restaurants, supermarkets, and bars. The hotel is new; with modern style décor, nothing fancy but nice and tidy. There is a good swimming pool, small spa, fitness club and children’s club. The room was clean and with bright colors. The sea view from the terrace in the 11th floor was great. The Wi-Fi was free and at good speed. Breakfast was with a large variety, and the service was very good.
Review 9:The pool opened too late-only at 10am. Also it was VERY NOISYat the pool with very loud music playing most of the time.
Review 10:The quiet & comfort of our room.
Review 11:Although I upgraded the room, it did not include the extra facilities and services upon check-in. Sea view partially blocked by buildings..
Review 12:Great location, good venue for vacation with children
Review 13:There was no real balcony in our room So we could not sit out. It was Friday night so there was no entertainment.
Review 14:They put fruit, water and snacks as a welcome gesture. Very nice! The view from the elevator and the room is magnificent
Review 15:First hotel I've ever stayed in with no tissues in the room. There was also no hairdryer. Both items were quickly brought to the room when I asked for them, however.
Review 16:Very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely toiletries. Very comfortable bed. Great air conditioning. Clean floor, because there was no carpet! Delicious breakfast.
Review 17:The hotel is understaffed which means queues at reception and in the dining room. The food was terrific and we got everything we asked for.
Review 18:The manager was extremely efficient and helpful. After an initial problem she could not do enough for us. The rooms were great and the pool and surrounding terraces comfortable and pleasant.
Review 19:Reception gave me a room even though I was early arrival and gave me a late check out so I could sunbathe an hour longer. Thank you reception people!!!! Salmon Sandwich was outstanding. Cudos to the sheff!
Review 20:this was our fifth stay in the hotel since Jan 13. Breakfast is especially good and all in all a great hotel to stay in.In the summer the swimming pool and seats are really good.Recommened to all our friends
Review 21:Have stayed at the hotel now 4 times and coming back next week for another stay.Good facilities, excellant Israeli breakfast. In the summer great pool and facilities .My grandchildren used the childrens pool last summer and really enjoyed.Right by really lovely wide, long beach. Great hotel excellant value, would highly recommend it.
Review 22:The design of the flatscreen TV, although very modern and attractive lead to poor sound quality in the room. Worse yet, because of the modern housing of the TV, the sound actually projects back into the housing and makes the TV next door sound very loud in your room. It was fine as long as your neighbor is not watching TV late in the night.
Review 23:Very new, clean and presentable hotel. The attention to detail in the rooms was very impressive and what you would expect from a much more expensive hotel. Great food and attentive staff.
Review 24:we paid top dollar but found ourselves in noisy badly kept hotel felt i was in a company paid outing. electric outlet out of wall kettle not stopping automatically other things i forgot already. i am a world traveller so i know value for money. the staff are nice but not enough to cope with such a crowed. a pity
Review 25:Nice size pool and surrounding area, but water cloudy, chemicals not seen to properly and a lot of dirt on bottom of pool, needs vacuuming.
Review 26:Nice hotel. Near beach. Pleasant staff.
Review 27:Only the occasional sirens and sounds of rockets falling!
Review 28:The staff was exceptionally friendly, the friday evening dinner was outstanding, and facilities for young children were great. Very good value for money
Review 29:Arrival to find a cockroach and crumbs of food over the carpets by the elevator, housekeeping in the room was poor, very dirty window, dirty counterpane on the bed, large black hair in the bathroom - to be fair, having asked to speak to the manager - who was trying her best, she moved our room and ensured that the standards were improved during our stay. Not a good impression especially for a new hotel. The pool was lovely but the opening hours totally ridiculous. Closed at 6pm with security guards and barriers put up. We were asked to leave! The absolutely most astonishing aspect was the cost of internet access. Had we connected our 6 items (2 laptops, 2 smartphones, 2 tablets) for the time we were there (2 days) it would have cost more than the final bill. Insane for an International hotel that calls itself 4 star - even though it is new and has obvious teething problems. However it is part of the Leonardo group so actually not much of an excuse that it's new. Standards should be in place from day one. The evening buffet which starts at 6.30 was almost inedible - it had all been sitting there for SOME time by 8 when we arrived. Appalling. They can't do anything about their location - a closer examination of the beach showed scum, litter, 'items' in the water - ghastly. Best to run back and try to catch the pool while it's still open! The town itself was a rather strange mixture of luxury hi-rise hotels or apartments nestling cheek by jowl with derelict building sites that were part occupied by a kind of 3rd world population, obviously desperately impoverished, living without electricity or water. A real eye-opener. Back to the hotel - if it sorts itself out and brings some real discipline in with its staff and also trains them to SMILE and not look so sullen, it will help a great deal. And for goodness sake, drag yourself into the 21st century Leonardo's and offer free wi-fi like most other hotels - especially of your...
Review 30:The breakfasts were very good in contrast with the evening buffet - see the other side! The location was lovely from a distance though the town was more like a rubbish tip. The swimming pool was delightful but again, there's a but.
Review 31:I wish they had more facilities like warm pool and so
Review 32:Location, room are nice, price is reasonable
Review 33:Smelly...
Review 34:Nice view and room.
Review 35:Pool is only open 9-17h so I could not use it

Review 37:the staff was very accommodating. hotel was clean and nice. across the street from the beach
Review 38:The workers were all very helpful. The view of the ocean was amazing.Great location.
Review 39:Bathroom could have been a little cleaner and it was a little antiquated.

Review 54:Wow what a beautiful hotel, loved my stay had an amazing time
Review 55:Empty hotel but still got bad view, no hot water, coffee and juice weren't working. It could have been nicer.
Review 56:The atmosphere is so calm and give you the feeling of resting and breathing
Review 57:Wi-fi was not included in price of room - this is a big negative!
Review 58:Excellent breakfast, cleanliness, right across from the beach. Huge pool.
Review 59:It was impossible to extend the stay by phone and it took ages to get a reply so I checked out and into the neighboring hotel.
Review 60:Location to beach is good and the pool is very nice
Review 61:The room was next to the elevator and overlooked the street which was very noisy on Friday night. Even though the hotel had been informed as well as the room and breakfast being paid for as a treat for my daughter and son-in-law the day after they got married, there was no acknowledgement by the hotel management - no even a greeting card. Further at breakfast time, the couple were denied access to the dining-room until a receptionist verified that the meal had been paid for in advance.
Review 62:The room was clean and comfortable.
Review 63:It can be tricky to get a taxi from the hotel, even if requested a day in advance. Although the receptionist phoned the taxi company several times, I waited for 15-20 minutes.
Review 64:The hotel is very conveniently located, very close to the shore and close to some restaurants and small shops. Rooms are quite with a beautiful view. I did not eat, no comments on food. Cleanliness gets 8 out of 10. I would recommend this hotel as a value for money in the over-priced Israel.
Review 65:No room or hotel information pack as other hotels do, there was a leonardo folder, no content. Wifi should be a given these days...

Review 72:Very noisy location
Review 73:New, crispy clean, nice design, helpful staff, close to the beach and restaurants
Review 74:This is Ashkelon's newest and best hotel!
