Reviews for Hotel Ostria

Review 1:We booked 2 triple sharing rooms and there were not ready upon our arrival (which was after the permitted check in time).

Review 2:Good beach view, lots of eateries within walking distance

Review 3:Bathroom is small (small shower). Bit far from the centre of Kalamata.

Review 4:Good for the money, enough room for (free) parking and extensive breakfast. Easy approach by car.

Review 5:no laundry facility; no coffee making facility in room.

Review 6:location of hotel. overlooking beach/main nightlife area (although my room was non seaview); local bus passes front of hotel. late nightshift reception guy made me a cup of coffee when I came back after late night drinking at one of the local baraki.

Review 7:Decoration is depressing. The lobby is sinister. Rustic bathroom. Very poor breakfast. Being in a country which produces so much quantity of great oranges, how can you serve a gross industrial orange juice ? Very poor industrial Ham and cheese. why not work with the local producers ? Very noisy room during the night, over the beach and marina.

Review 8:Very nice people. Clean room. Beautiful view over the beach and sea.

Review 9:location is perfect: almost on the beach, active night life on the riviera, parking is very close (2 or 3 euro per 24 hours) though you can have luck to park safely your car near the hotel, very nice and helpful owners (additional big thanks to Mr.Demetri!!!). Also, the shopping in the center of the Kalamata is really very good! People are very very nice there!

Review 10:Staff and owners went out of their way to help us. We have stayed at the Ostria multiple times and have always enjoyed ourselves. The owners have maintained the property and updated over the years. Location is great. lots of beach, shopping, food, and a bus stop around the corner.

Review 11:A bit noisy at night with the main road down below, but closing the patio window and shutters solved the problem.

Review 12:Great location with beach across the street. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Review 13:Breakfast could be more rich, nice but pretty simple.Wi-fi on the 1st floor wasn't working as expected, ended up using 4g on my phone.

Review 14:Very nice location on nauarinou street in front of the beach, nice view, friendly staff and owner

Review 15:Bathroom are 70s/80s style small with just sink/shower/toilet. The rooms are big so if the walls aren't structural this should be fixed. A flair makeover from an interior designer could lift this hotel so much for not much investment. It has location and spaciousness going for it, now a little love could take it to the next level.

Review 16:For the money the hotel is fine. Overlooking the Kalamata beach, perfectly positioned for tavernas, nightlife and easy airport getaway. The owner Dimitri is charming and himself made a complementary double espresso with the free breakfast. The Ostria is like '000s of 80s hotels across the world - OK, but a little imagination could make it so much better. The white reception and breakfast area needs some Greek colour and spirit injected into it, the breakfast needs an artisan twist. The hotel has the basic structure - the rooms and balconies are big, just some flair needs injecting.

Review 17:The noise from the street at night

Review 18:The staff where excellent ESP Deana the cleaner who was delightful and helpful to the lovely man on reception who helped with my computer problems, the owner is fantastic and changed my room to a seafront room when I wasn't too happy about a back room

Review 19:Nice hotel and great location, right over the road from the beach and close to many restaurants. Good buffet breakfast choice and the owner takes the time to chat to guests and answer question on what to do and see. This review is for the two single rooms

Review 20:Nice hotel and great location, right over the road from the beach and close to many restaurants. Good buffet breakfast choice and the owner takes the time to chat to guests and answer question on what to do and see. This review is for the double room.

Review 21:Breakfast was very basic ... Some of the staff spoke very good english while other had bearly any english and i am talking about receptionests not cleaning staff

Review 22:Location ... Cross the street and you are at the beach Friendly owner

Review 23:Great location. Pleasant hotel . Dimitri and the staff very helpful . I forgot my mobile charger when I left and they sent it to me immediately with courier. Very kind.

Review 24:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 25:We had a wonderful stay at The Hotel Ostria, the views from our room were absolutely fabulous. Breakfast was varied and tasty and as much as you could eat, with the owner coming to each table to make sure that all was well, a nice personal touch. We will definitely be staying there again. Ian & Jan from England

Review 26:The beds. telling us that someone will come see us for a small issue, and it took over an hour, had to call twice.

Review 27:The location was excellent! Breakfast was ok, "the basics". Beds Were a bit uncomfortable. Sea view bedroom is a must! Wifi works wonderfully compared to other places.

Review 28:I miss more stuff at breakfast.

Review 29:Very nice and clean hotel . The beach was in front of it, only need to cross the Street. Staff very helpful and kind. Easy to find and park my car. Very well located.

Review 30:The location is absolutely fabulous as was the view from our room. The Greek/American owner greeted us at reception. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 31:Very poor breakfast, decoration of the rooms is old fashioned, bathroom is not equipped properly, very thin walls - neighbors are talking in your room

Review 32:Normal price, WiFi in the rooms

Review 33:Nothing bad

Review 34:The location of the hotel is fabulous. Right opposite a beach and close to tavernas lining the bay. It is a nice stroll fom the hotel to get into the old city. We loved staying in Kalamata and using the place as a base to explore that area of the Pelopponese.

Review 35:The room was spacious and comfortable. The towels were nice and fluffy and there were lots of toiletries and a hair dryer. Good help yourself breakfast with plenty of choice Right opposite the beach with great views Excellent value for money

Review 36:Room number 314 The room was outdated and had only the very basic furnishings, looked like it was in desperate need of a update, the inside of the wardrobe had black around the bottom, presumably from damp. The bathroom was passable except that there was only a shower curtain and the water overspilled all over the bathroom floor. The toilet roll holder came apart from its wall fixing. We did not venture onto the balcony as it was covered in red dust and had a table which had gone rusty. There was limited information about the hotel, what little there was was glued down and there was no information about the area. The room was freezing cold but we were able to use the air conditioning unit for heat. The bar was very limited for drinks. The breakfast room was also extremely cold, even the staff wore some form of warm attire. Breakfast was very limited, there was no hot food available and very little selection of anything else. We have stayed in other hotels in the area at around the say price and never been disappointed. We would not return and would advise anyone to avoid staying her

Review 37:The reception staff were friendly and heplful. The reception area was passable The bed was comfy

Review 38:Quite far away from the bus station. Partially noisy location due to the main route on the beach front.

Review 39:The hotel was clean and the breakfast included to the price.

Review 40:Could do soms restyling of the lounge. Gives you the wrong impression.

Review 41:Located at the city Beach. Lot's of bars and cheap restaurants. Lots of local tourists. Price is good for what you get.

Review 42:I didn't like, by far, the quality of the Wi-Fi, it was only useful in the lobby and the stairs.

Review 43:I liked a lot the view and the attention from the staff. Also it was clean always and it has a nice location in front of the sea. The breakfast was just OK.

Review 44:Virtually no wi-fi in the rooms. evening front desk staff appeared to be disinterested. One room could not get the airconditioning to work.

Review 45:location was central and opposite the beach. We were able to leave our luggage downstairs for the morning after we checked out.

Review 46:Wifi was extremely difficult to connect to, during the whole stay. That is the only (minor) problem in this hotel.

Review 47:Very friendly and helpful staff. Big, spotless rooms. Perfect location on the sea front, lots of nearby accommodations, quiet place.

Review 48:The sea opposite the hotel is the best in Kalamata. The rooms are a good size with high ceilings and good storage space . The refridgerator is a real fridge suppied for the express purpose of the client Not a mini bar?...bravo. The staff are helpful and are bilingual English-Greek.

Review 49:Hard beds. Unreliable wifi.

Review 50:Excellent location with beach across the street. Walking distance to the city center. Nice staff and owner.

Review 51:small shower

Review 52:clean rooms, good views

Review 53:Shower is small and the water is all over around.

Review 54:Location-value for money

Review 55:It was clean and right accross the beach

Review 56:Location and the kind staff. Clean !

Review 57:Very helpful!

Review 58:Very good location, very good for one night

Review 59:Not enough light in the bathroom. No working safe.

Review 60:Location was awesome.

Review 61:Street noise at night.

Review 62:Large sign outside of hotel. Easy to find. Great location across from free beach.

Review 63:Thin walls, showering caused some water to spill over

Review 64:Staff, owners and location

Review 65:the facilities, the staff & the room

Review 66:The view of the port

Review 67:Very poor breakfast

Review 68:Location

Review 69:Great location - just across the road from Kalamata beach. Value for money.

Review 70:Breakfast

Review 71:Cleanliness, location

Review 72:all attractions situated in other city part.

Review 73:close to beach, smiley personnel, powerful ac.

Review 74:Showers not hot enough

Review 75:Spacious rooms

Review 76:Staff were very approachable and helpful made our stay even more enjoyable

Review 77:Clean. Across the street from beach. Very very nice owners. Great value.

Review 78:Everything was fine

Review 79:Close to the beach

Review 80:minimal décor and breakfast

Review 81:good location

Review 82:Friendly informative staff and management. Clean and comfortable room. Good plentiful breakfast.

Review 83:The owner/manager

Review 84:Excellent buffet breakfast.

Review 85:Fantastic location, very close to the Mediterranean and near beach. Beautiful views Bright and clean rooms and very friendly staff.

Review 86:Affordable, clean, and right on the strand.

Review 87:its value for money. quite happy with our stay

Review 88:Limited parking space, but you can find in the nearby streets.

Review 89:Very helpful staff and good location to local amenities.

Review 90:On our first stay the wifi didn't work in our room, but on the second stay it was fine. If this is important to you check it out when you get to your room, and if it doesn't work ask for a room with better reception. On our second stay the floor tiles were old and chipped, but I understand that the owner is in the process of doing up the rooms. The furnishings are a little spartan (perhaps some pictures, rugs and bedspreads would help?) However these are really only minor things and ultimately we really enjoyed our stay and would return again (as we did)

Review 91:The hotel was in a great location facing the beach but close enough to walk into town. Staff were great and extremely helpful, including assisting us with bus reservations to Athens and recommendations for restaurants. We thought this place was really good value so we stayed there twice.

Review 92:No visitors? We were travelling in a group of 17, staying all over Kalamata so we were meeting in the evenings in each others hotel rooms to get ready. The Ostria hotel was the only one we were not allowed do this in.

Review 93:The hotel was directly on the beach and right in the center if the prom. The rooms were big and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The view from our balcony was amazing!!

Review 94:The breakfast was mainly limited to cold products (that do not requirethe use of oven, bakery etc). However, there was the pleasant surpriseof boiled eggs, that added to the minimal variety. The WiFi signal washardly ever to be found in the rooms but one could use it in the commonareas. The internal soundproofing was a bit of an issue, as one couldhear every single noise from the corridors.

Review 95:Clean, comfortable yet simple room, with excellent wide view at theMessinian Gulf and Taygetos mountain. The balcony door was soundproofenough, so as to prevent disturbance from the external traffic noise-which was limited anyway due to the low season. The staff at itsmajority was willing to help us, either by providing us with an extrablanket or by calling taxis. I would recommend the hotel to anyone whodoes not pay much attention to luxury, but enjoys the close proximity tothe sea, the beach and the nearby taverns and coffee places.

Review 96:Staff didn't understand much English and we're not particularly tourist friendly. Although on the last day there was an excellent staff member who spoke good English and accommodated me with a changing room and found out about buses to the airport which i would never have been able to ask the previous staff members. In fact he saved the day.

Review 97:δραματικη εμπειρια η μονοημερη διαμονη σε αυτο το ξενοδοχειο/Booking.com should investigate truthness of what its stated for eachhotel.!!!! Installation/facilities of very bad quality Breakfastshould be eaten by hands!!!!(no forks offered) And the best!!!!Whenchecking out a team of customers(lined up!!!) were waiting for thereceptionist who was out for shopping!!!!!DRAMATIC Experience!!!

Review 98:Nothing- Breakfast could have a better selection. A safe in the room would be nice.

Review 99:Excellent location, very clean, relatively quiet-don't forget is on a very busy seaside road, Very helpfull reception. Nice view form both the frond and side rooms.

Review 100:Rooms, although quite big, are poorly decorated, seem empty, and look like the furniture has been there since the 70's. clean was arguable at most. Breakfast quite poor

Review 101:Location is fine.

Review 102:Rooms are a bit impersonal.

Review 103:Very friendly and helpful staff, spacious and clean rooms. I had a nice view from my balcony : the sea is just a few meters away.

Review 104:Very poor breakfast even for Greek standards- we decided to skip itafter first night; lack of decent restaurants/tavernas nearby

Review 105:Reasonably priced; clean and comfortable room with nice balconyfacing the sea

Review 106:The receptionist took me to 3 different rooms. They all stank of cigarette smoke. I am not a smoker. The lift was ancient and when it stopped at the floors there were no lights whatsoever. It seemed that the lights were controlled by the reception desk. I don't know what would happen if there was a fire. I have stayed in some basic rooms in my life but these were beyond belief. Stone floors with holes in them and pipes sticking out . No rugs. A fridge that didn't work. It felt like a very basic hostel. I also felt totally unsafe as no one else was about. The corridors were pitch black and the lock on the door didn't work properly. It felt like Bates hotel in the Hitchcock film Psycho. I had to leave immediately and went down the road to the Hicost which you said was booked up on your site. I booked a loverly room there with double bed, television, rugs on the floor all the things you would expect from a hotel for only an extra 10 euros in cost from the Osteria. I just hope that my credit card has not been debited.

Review 107:Nothing. re the inside of the hotel. The balcony had a good view of the sea and it was obvious the receiptionist was trying his best but he had very little to work with.

Review 108:I did'nt see any staff at breakfast. The counters ran out of food and juice very quickly, and were not topped up.

Review 109:I was in Kalamata for just one night. The hotel was fine for my needs with clean room and bathroom, with places to eat nearby.

Review 110:rooms little worn out....and lack of plug sockets....found only one in my room after taing out television socket!

Review 111:location....free wifi....most staff pleasant! rare in greece!

Review 112:Spacious, well-appointed rooms with sea view. Extremely helpful staff. Value for money. Would stay again.

Review 113:The breakfast was poor but the hotel is still ok to stay for a very short period.

Review 114:The location and the view

Review 115:The bathroom with poor ventilation.

Review 116:The sea view is awesome!

Review 117:Very friendly staff great location

Review 118:Look rather old.

Review 119:Good location. Good value for money.

Review 120:The breakfast

Review 121:The location, the ratio value/cost

Review 122:location friendly staff

Review 123:Value for money
