Reviews for Butler Arms Hotel
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Stepping back in time. Beautiful location and views. Staff couldn't do enough to help. Food delicious. It was perfect for what we wanted, but it's not an all mod cons modern hotel- I guess that's why I loved it.
Review 3:Expensive considering such limited facilities...More like a 3 star than 4 star... No comfortable serviced lobby area or Lounge with the exception of the residence lounge which never seemed to be staffed
Review 4:Location
Review 5:Beautiful room with stunning view. Spacious, luxurious and spotlessly clean. Lovely staff. Extremely helpful and obliging. Very friendly and highly professional.
Review 6:Beautiful hotel in perfect spot in Waterville. Across street from beach, restaurant and pub in hotel was excellent, staff superb, 1/2 mile form golf course and fishing.
Review 7:No bad experience
Review 8:We stayed here for two nights , a seamless booking in , this hotel is run by two sisters , everything you need is provided , we had room 306 sea view , gorgeous , comfortable , the owners are lovely we felt we were coming home , the hotel is comfortable and has an old world charm , warm , inviting beautiful we can't wait to return , we loved it here , I'm writing this from a hotel in valentia which I have frequented for many years , but my heart is in the Butler Arms , we are returning soon xx
Review 9:No complIants , 20 People from 6 to 78
Review 10:The old world charm, staff great and a key to your room .plenty of life in the bars and quite spots if you need one.
Review 11:Great hotel, but the breakfast buffet was limited. We could get things, eg honey, but it always involved a slow process with the kitchen. Clearly, a hotel of this league should have figured this out.
Review 12:Great location. Beautiful view.
Review 13:Hard bed
Review 14:Waterville is a beautiful village beside the sea surrounded by stunning mountains. Butlers Arm is a lovely old fashioned property well maintained and family run business. .
Review 15:Regular rooms are cozy but with nice sea views.
Review 16:Great location and very friendly and responsive staff. We were upgraded to third floor executive suite on the second night which had terrific views, space and comfort.
Review 17:Lovely position on the sea front, but sad to see the village so quiet during a busy holiday season. Would make sense to reduce the number of eating areas in hotel with the guest occupancy they seemed to have - one bar man and one waitress trying to man all three!
Review 18:Staff very pleasant who tried hard to maintain standards. .
Review 19:Old fashioned. Hard bed. Hair dryer not working which I discovered last thing at night with wet hair. Lovely location but could do with a revamp as it would do amazing for weddings.
Review 20:I was disappointed that for the price, tea/coffee were not available in the room. I prefer a separate shower rather than having to climb into a bath. The bar- food area was small and very noisy although one has the option of dining in the conservatory which was lovely and also in the dining room- a more formal experience. The floor boards on the corridor creaked a lot outside the bedroom. The overall décor hadn't changed in years which is probably charming for some of the regular return visitors.
Review 21:The staff were very accommodating, pleasant and very friendly. The food was delicious. The views from the bedroom and dining room were fabulous. Plenty of sitting areas/lounges.
Review 22:Perfect location, beautiful hotel with great restaurant/pub. We had a wonderful stay in beautiful Waterville! Loved the history and character of the hotel!
Review 23:The only bad thing was that we couldn't stay longer.
Review 24:Loved that this hotel was right across from the beach, had a lively pub or sophisticated dining room to choose from (we ate in the pub). The property was pretty fantastic being a throwback to a more civilized era that encourages face to face interactions and friendly conversations. Loved it!
Review 25:Lack of sockets for appliances such as chargers etc
Review 26:Everybody was so helpful and efficient. The food was first rate. The rooms were clean and very comfortable.
Review 27:The two sisters running the place are high energy, cheerful and pleasant. Exterior parking lot looks a bit sketchy, however inside us great, pub food and restaurant very good and a charming place with a beautiful location.
Review 28:One minor niggle only and its more a personal like but I would have enjoyed grapefruit segments in juice or a fruit salad on the breakfast buffet.
Review 29:The male staff member who served us breakfast on the Sunday was super efficient and most professional (remarked on by all 4 of us). The young lady who managed reception was very welcoming and most pleasant too. We had a 5* dinner, which we were not expecting and 7 of our 8 dishes were fish cooked to an extremely high standard, which should really be shouted and boasted about. Bedrooms with the sea views were very comfortable and bathroom was roomy with adequate counter space for all lotions and potions. The power of the shower was yet another positive. Both owners were engaging and very likeable too. Thanks to all for making it so pleasant.
Review 30:The Butler's Arm's Hotel has old fashioned decor, would require updating, as I would not rate it a 4 * hotel. Food in bar only average.
Review 31:Nothing about the hotel but there was a charge of 1 Euro to go in to thelocal antique shop, so I didn't go in, even though I would probablyhave spent much more than that if I had gone in. Thought it was a bitIrish to charge to go in to a shop.
Review 32:We had a lovely room but the best thing about it was the view. Right inthe centre of town.
Review 33:Nothing !
Review 34:This a repeat of a family trip to the South West which we used to do most yrs with my parents, one of the aunts & uncles & one of the cousins - last time was 30 yrs ago & the Butler Arms was always the favourite - in the nicest of ways it felt like stepping back in time - amazing !
Review 35:Get rid of the carpet...musty smell on entering hotel. No tea/coffee facilities in room!!!!! Advised staff re scribble on window visible when window steamed up.
Review 36:Staff. Food. Location. Quiet.
Review 37:We loved the old word charm of this hotel. The food is of a high quality. It is family run so the service is excellent with great attention to the comfort of the guests. The Fisherman's Bar has a great atmosphere and is obviously the hub of the town. I visited this hotel as a child and I remember it as being excellent and it still maintains the same standard.
Review 38:No tea and coffee in the room until requested and then we had filter coffee given in a bowl. The fish was so good in their restaurant I went back the second night. First they run out of a fish dish so I had what I had the night before. The restaurant was fairly full and clearly not expected. I received smaller portions of the fish dish than the night before. It was still delicious though. I didn't like Waterville as it seemed soulless. Not the fault of the hotel but it's the main reason I wouldn't recommend to a friend.
Review 39:The view...I had a great view of the sea. The bathroom was large and well lit. The fish I had in the restaurant was fantastic.
Review 40:I liked the fact that on our arrival we were upgraded at no extra cost.We were put in a fantastic room with doors open to the garden. Must sayit was a lovely stay, will be back again.
Review 41:No one to help with luggage, could not find lift so had to carry my bags up two flights of stairs Slightly musty smell in room
Review 42:Pleasant staff, convenient location
Review 43:No Tea and coffee machine in the bedroom but when we expressed this with staff they delivered it to bedroom with pastries! Menu not very broad.
Review 44:Staff were unbelievable.I could only get a twin room when booking. However I requested a double bed if possible. When we arrived we were upgraded to an executive king bedroom at no extra charge. The staff at check in were so genuine and nice. View from window of sea and mountain were spectaclar. Had the best steak ever and bread and butter pud delic. Highly recommend.

Review 47:Crack in the mirror and peeling paint on the ceiling in the bathroom.
Review 48:Great location and views. Pleasant and friendly waiting staff at breakfast. Lady on reception very welcoming on arrival. Good food at breakfast and the Fishermans bar.
Review 49:Food over-priced, and very dissatisfied with 'McDonald' Fry's for dinner. Went out for dinner on second evening!! For a four star hotel. I was dissaponted. However, I might give it another try at a later date!! Might! Marks out of ten, -6
