Reviews for Century Hotel Antwerpen Centrum
Review 1:Everything staff unfriendly and unhelpfull facility not up to the booking.com standards that we are use to when booking with them the room and dining room gives you the impression of a youth hostel and not a Hotel
Review 2:Nothing about this "Youth Hostel" was good.
Review 3:1. Room and Bathroom were very very small and compact. 2. I had asked for a Double Bed but was given two single beds. 3. Breakfast was very small with very limited options and almost nothing for vegetarians. 4. No Sandwich toaster, No Bread Toaster, No Fruits, No Eggs in the breakfast. 5. Even after paying for breakfast, there was always a confusion with the restaurant staff and every morning I had to first clarify about it.
Review 4:Thank God the room and bathroom were at least clean. The staff at reception were helpful and friendly. Location is excellent which is right opposite the Antwerp Central station.
Review 5:The price could be just a wee bit less, but otherwise everything else was great.
Review 6:The location is literally across the street from the exit of the train station. Very clean room, high quality bathroom, etc. Didn't have breakfast there as it was expensive, but I'm pretty sure it would've been good.
Review 7:A very few of the staff don't speak English very well (but the most of them do well).
Review 8:Best location and easy to find by a big sign panel. Baggage storage service was very helpful. There is a desk in the room so I can do some work there.
Review 9:The bath had no shower head so you had to hold the pipe to shower , no curtain so the water went everywhere and went out from the bathroom to the room floor It smelt of dump The room was very old There was no kettle Not enough towels and we had to use ours to dry the floor and lay one by the bathroom door to avoid walking on wet filthy carpet I would give it no stars
Review 10:The only good thing was the location if you want to stay near the jewellery shops and the zoo
Review 11:Terrible wifi. Staff says it's OK because it's OK in the lobby but in the room it was terrible. Also unfriendly staff.
Review 12:Only the fact that it's close to the central train station.
Review 13:The drainage of water is slow in the toilet/bathroom; noises can be heard from people talking /passing by my room
Review 14:Location facing the Antwerp central station and near the shopping area streets
Review 15:The set up of the room and there was no shower. The room had a bath with a hand held shower only. The double bedroom was two single beds together but one mattress was lower than the other and uncomfortable .
Review 16:The location was fantastic . Just outside the train station which was perfect .
Review 17:Smoke infested room & Hotel. Would never stay here again. I didn't check or specify before booking, but I think it's advertised as a non-smoking hotel. Otherwise all was good!
Review 18:Location
Review 19:- Room's cleanliness was very very poor. There was old toothpaste stuck on the bathroom sink. The switches were sticky. The room smelled of smoke. - No shower curtains caused floods in the bathroom when you take a shower. - Room's temperature was high, even though it was cold outside and the heating was off. With an open window still the room was pretty hot. - Mattresses were very soft, causing back pain. - This hotel comes close to 1 star, it is definitely not a 3 star hotel, so don't get fooled by that. - It was bearable for 1 night, I couldn't have stayed any longer.
Review 20:Check in a nightmare first room I was allocated was already occupied then second room key didn't work so back down 9 floors to sort it then when I arrived back in the hotel after an evening out the night porter without explanation told me my key wouldn't work and had to te set it again all this without an apology from anyone
Review 21:Central location but a pain to get to by car would be ideal if you visit by train
Review 22:The other room smelled horrendously. We had to sleep with all the windows open all night. We suspect it was from mildew or mold in the walls because it's impossible to take a shower without water going everywhere. We can't be sure but we do know that the smell left us with a very unpleasant experience. It's hard to give the hotel an accurate rating because we had two very different experiences.
Review 23:We reserved two rooms. Both were clean and tidy. One was at a fair price with a shower and it was quite comfortable. No complaints with that room.
Review 24:Rooms are quite basic and a bit dark, felt a little bit like a youth hostel for comfort in the room. However
Review 25:Room was very clean and the central location is fantastic. Bed was comfortable. Fee wifi was good.
Review 26:Had to pay up front. Ordered a triple room but was told that this is too big for just me and kindly downgraded my room for free. Charged me the same as the large room for a smaller one with no terrace or bath tub. .... How kind. Ordered a drink .. Was not allowed to put it on the room. Had no cash but they kindly offered to 'escort me to the cash machine' again. Very thoughtful Great location though to be fair. If you want to be 6 inches from the incredibly noisy 24 hours a day train station
Review 27:they deduct payment from my card immediatelly after reservation without taking into account how I want to pay suspisious rooter for wifi, always anounced like without security certificate
Review 28:Very basic, very small room which was so hot that I couldn't sleep. Room temperature was not possible to change. You could hear noise from the street and the corridor. Not worth of the money I paid. No flexibility for late check out without payment.
Review 29:Clean room which was ready before actual check in time (15 00) Good location if you arrive by train, not in the center but in a walking distance.
Review 30:- Receptionist very discorteous (the girl only, because the other guy was really hepful) when checkin in, and when trying to pay for the accommodation, - Continental breakfast, bread was stale, coudn't even bite it, and the coffe extremely strong (it makes you go to the lou instantaneously)
Review 31:Only the location
Review 32:The staff where lovely and the place was beautiful, it's a stone throw from the station which made everything really simple, the bar was lovely and reasonably proved room was lovely and comfortable, we got engaged here so will be coming back
Review 33:I booked the largest room for 4 nights at a total cost of over €400. When i arrived at the hotel they told me that the room i ordered is not available and gave me a basic room instead which cost around half the price. when i asked for a refund the blond haired woman at the desk did not want to hear about it and even went on a racist rant against all "my people". I am currently trying to get my money back and i am considering going to the police to press charges of racism.
Review 34:the location was good
Review 35:inability to check us in before the prescribed time of 2 pm.Most hotels during our long trip in Rome-Florence-Zermatt-Interlaken-Lucern-Paris and in Amsterdam had never had any problems in letting us in at least an hour before mentioned time.
Review 36:location--5 mins after gewting down from our Train from Amsterdam for a day's halt to meet our Son working in Antwerpen,
Review 37:This is middle eastern spot of Antwerp, surrounded by weird jewelry shops and street traders. We didn't feel secure enough to walk there at night. Staff was not friendly (I'd say rather rude, never replied to "Good evening" or "Good morning"). On arrival you'll have to pay city tax in cash, it can be also changed from your card but amount would be higher. Rooms are dirty (pills on the floor, hair in sink, sticky table surface and switchers). For some reasons we stayed in a room with 4 beds even we paid for double. One of chairs in our room was broken. One electrical socket per room is strange. I felt really bad in this room and preferred to pay extra not to stay there.
Review 38:If you're traveling in Belgium by train this is a perfect location.
Review 39:This is the kind of hotel that school trips book for big groups of teenagers. I am not sure who was louder: the teenagers or the housekeeping staff coming to clean the rooms at 8:30 in the morning...(checkout is at noon). This is a no frills hotel offering the bare minimum and would be better rated as a 2 star.
Review 40:The budget price considering we booked so last minute. Many parking garages in the area for those who arrive by car.
Review 41:The curtains in the rented room let way too much light get in the room. Bad sleep in the morning. The breakfast is not that great, now I avoid it in this hotel.
Review 42:Near the central station, clean and relatively quiet it makes a good hotel to stay a week here. The beds are nice too. WiFi is good enough but could be faster.
Review 43:I don't know who's the crazy guy that defined this hotel "3 star superior". It's not enough to have a lcd TV in each room to be a 3 star. Rooms are so small that you can turn around the bed, dark because bathroom in the wrong position (in such a small room to waste naturally enlighted space to have a window in the bath is stupid). Room service is very poor, non because of their fault, but because of management orders: they turn to 0 the room heating every morning while cleaning the room, so that you come back at night after work and you find a cold room. There is no floor mat in bath, if you try to use a towel not to slip, they punish you the day after by leaving a towel less!
Review 44:Location close to Rail Station is great for business travel. Reception service is good.
Review 45:In general it is not good value for money. Beds are too soft, pillows as well which does not give you a good night sleep.
Review 46:Location is great. Main train station is in front of the entrance and you can easily get anywhere in the city from there and old historic center is a short walk away. Room provides enough storage space (large wardrobe) and it enough space to move around.
Review 47:Staff not polite and helpful, smell off diarrea coming from toilet, bed sheets not changed in the whole stay, uncomfortable bed and I came home with several bites that came from bedbugs that are red and very itchy
Review 48:Location, 24 hour check in.
Review 49:No one on reception when arrived and went and asked at the bar. Got rude reception and told to go wait. Also found a toenail (not ours) in the bed ewww
Review 50:Excellent shower. Great location but quiet. Comfy beds.
Review 51:2nd time we have staayed in this hotel and are room this time was great and much bigger . we had a family room on floor two compared to previous floor 6 . great hotel for quick stops bars was quiet but good for a chill and quiet drink
Review 52:The room doesn't have basic things like hair drier, fridge, airco. It was also very smoky inside, felt like someone has been continuously smoking before we checked in. Walls are so thin that you can hear everything, especially at night, I was sleeping and someone came back and was talking in the hallway, I have heard every single word they said. I will definitely not stay there ever again.
Review 53:The location is perfect. The hotel is right infron of the central station and next to the main shopping street. The room was new.
Review 54:Bed bugs we have come back very badly bitten. Desk staff very unwilling to sort keys out when doors not working, even when locked out I was told I don't know how long staff back to sort out?? No kettle and had to pay on arrival, I know why now.
Review 55:Location was great.
Review 56:The Hotel was dirty , the room was tiny with no Tea or Coffee making facilities. The beds are uncomfortable .
Review 57:Location is good for people wanting a quick stop over near a very good train station
Review 58:Just accross the street when coming out of the Antwerp Central station. Very convenient when hotels are full in Brussels, given the good train connection with Brussels (reached in about 35mn)
Review 59:when we enterd the room one of the four beds had a broken leg, when telling to the reception about this they told us that is was good when we entered the room so it was our fault and we had to live with it. after some discussions, we decided to put the matras on the floor and sleep there, we didn`t want it to spoil our one night stay...
Review 60:Location was good, price also
Review 61:The noise from the corridors was staggering - a 2m wide concrete/tile/carpet tile corridor echoed every sound on the entire floor and the room doors had poor sound insulation qualities. Bathroom was very small, as were the 2 lifts.
Review 62:Located next to main train station with regular tram and bus services nearby, room was basic but clean and a reasonable price, comfortable mattress. I traveled on bus from Brussels airport - could see hotel 1 block away as soon as I stepped off bus. Wifi speed was fine for me, a few English speaking TV/news channels available. Train station also had shops/cafes available, less than 3 minute walk from door to train platform. Several bars and restaurants nearby too. Vending machine in lobby.
Review 63:The hotel lobby could be very crowded sometimes, the breakfast is a bit expensive
Review 64:The location is perfect, and the price too. The rooms are clean and nice, the beds are comfortable. The rooms are a bit small but its not a problem.
Review 65:Worse reception ever. Not welcoming at all, very unfriendly woman. Do not expect any service.
Review 66:To sleep and have a shower is ok. But we will not come back.
Review 67:Little noisy coz of the neighbourhood of the train station, little more comfort in the room would be welcome (refridgerator f.e.)
Review 68:Location is close to the shopping streets and multicultural part of Antwerp
Review 69:Do not expect any luxury whatsoever -not even a hairdryer- and also quite noisy (neighbours and street).
Review 70:Ideally located right next to train station, clean and good matress and shower. Friendly staff.
Review 71:no bad experience. Hotel is urban, next to station. A lot of night people in cities.
Review 72:Night Hotel manager is very helpful. Don't judge this hotel by it's cover (external looks). Beds are comfortable, hotel is quiet and bathrooms are clean and modern. A great place to rest for tomorrow's travels!
Review 73:- asked for a room on the other side of the hotel (away from the train station) - asked for a room with excellent WiFi (since I needed to work) Neither request was fulfilled, nor any apologies extended Moreover, breakfast was waaaay to expensive : it is better to cross the street and visit the Panos shop in front of the hotel.
Review 74:excellent location close to the train station
Review 75:The room is quite old and sticky, not as nice as the pictures showing on the internet. The shower water is very strong, which is really good. But, there's no glass or curtain on the tub, so every time someone took a shower, the whole bathroom was flooded badly, and we needed to use all the towels in the room to prevent the water going in the bedroom. We checked in for three people, the house keeping staff only gave us towels and stuff for two the next day, which made things even worse. ( I called the front desk, there was a super nice guy there that night, but he was all by himself and couldn't leave. Also he was not familiar with the house keeping supply. so…)
Review 76:The location is amazing, right across the street of the central station, super easy for people travel by train. And Antwerp central station is famous for safety because of the diamond business. The hotel lobby is nice. Wifi is good, water is strong.
Review 77:I had never put so much water out of the bathroom in one shower ! And it was impossible to avoid that !
Review 78:Very quick check in. Location. A bit far from the center but close to the station, restaurants and bar.
Review 79:A bit noisy in the early morning in our room because of some ventilator from the building.
Review 80:Good range of tv channels. Comfy bed. Across the road from train station and within walkable distance from the centre.
Review 81:Too much noise because of the train station, the taxis and people in the streets. Insulation of the windows is really bad. I could not sleep properly for 3 nights! Breakfast was very very simple and no available place on the table for breakfast, I had to wait.
Review 82:The location close to the center
Review 83:Not allowed to drive to the door to drop off luggage. Recommendd to park in a nearby (expensive) carpark first.
Review 84:Location with respect to city and zoo is actually very good but spoiled by taxi-only road for people arriving with own car.
Review 85:Had problem with lost mobile - desk clerk v.helpful. Forgot Continental plug - again, desk staff provided one on loan immediately. Very pleasant staff
Review 86:The location is very good. we had a three person room and it was well suited for us because it was quite big. I believe it was for 4 people but with three it was even more pleasure to stay in the room! We also forgot something in the room and it was told as soon as we arrived at the servicedesk. We picked it up directly and we checked out, and left with a smile.
Review 87:The shower was a little small and inconveniënt because of that. Otherwise it was clean.
Review 88:The location was very good...in the middle of the center and the railwaystation nearby! Breakfast was good and more than enough!
Review 89:Despite it being located just in front of the train station, it was quiet at night. The room was pretty clean and spacious - great value for money. We even had a nice view from the windows. The hotel greatly exceeded our expectations.
Review 90:the only thing is that it is little hot in the roon so you need go keep the window open so it cools down.
Review 91:perfect hotel in good location. just neer the train station. ood bad, very fast wifi.
Review 92:The room we were in was far too small for two of us. I think originally it was for 1 person. So it was also too warm. We were on the side directly opposite the train station so at night this was quite noisy.
Review 93:Hotel was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was good for the town centre and old town and the train station.
Review 94:the room is a bit too warm
Review 95:The staff is very helpful and nice, excellent location in front of the station and 15 min walking to the center. perfect for a short stay
Review 96:room is rather small. you can only open the window upper part, so it was pretty hot and no fresh air. everybody was warning us about the location that it is not good, but we did not have any remarks nor problems. had some mosquitos bothering us during the night. breakfast is 9.50 pp, which is rather high I'd say, but it is ok.
Review 97:the room itself is clean indeed. the reception is nice, too. the bathroom is clean , has free toiletries, clean nice towels. room cleaning was nice as well. wifi has a good signal. opposite of Central station (close to city center)
Review 98:This is literally across the street from Central Station Antwerp, so it was nice to take the train from brussels airport, arrive in Antwerp and find the hotel across the street. The hotel is no frills but clean and nice size rooms. We only used this as temporary housing as we rented a flat in the old town of antwerp, but this was a good and practical start. From the hotel one can either walk or take public transportation to all parts of Antwerp. There is a nice zoo around the corner from the hotel. Great if you are using antwerp as a base and taking trains to brugge, ghent, brussels, etc.
Review 99:The receptionist of a nighttime was a horrible man! He wouldn't let me in my room because he said I wasn't staying in that room (because my friend had previously asked for a key to our room he wouldn't let me in it although I was the lead booker. When I tried to show him my ID and my booking details he refused to look at them) I am a 24 year old woman and he kicked me out on to the streets of Antwerp alone! Good job I had a cousin staying in another hotel. I paid for a room for 4 nights and could only stay in it 2 nights- I would have complained but couldn't be bothered by he time we were checking out I just wanted to be home. I would never stay in this hotel again and the receptionist should be sacked! Anything could of happened to me on those streets
Review 100:The hotel was cheap and you get what you pay for. It was in a good location
Review 101:Beds were a bit hard. Room was basic. No safe in the room.
Review 102:Stayed in Antwerpen to be close enough to Boom, Belgium to go to the Tomorrowland festival. It was just a place for us to sleep and it did just that for us. It was a 2 minute walk to the Antwerpen bus station and a short walk to the shopping strip. Would recommend it if you aren't looking for anything fancy and just a place to sleep.
Review 103:the young girl at the reception is extremely annoying racist , I've never been treated in such a bad way in my life just because my passport says I'm Arab
Review 104:Location, clean big room
Review 105:It was too noisy, some guests were very inconsiderate and was playing basketball on the corridor and nobody from the staff seems to say anything. Mentioned it to one of the staffs and just shrugged. Breakfast was very basic, I have to ask the reception for my deposit for the following morning and was better off to have breakfast outside. There was a foul smell as you enter the steps go go up the first floor. We have to use the steps as it was quicker than waiting for the elevator which was too old.
Review 106:Location, only few minutes walk from central station.
Review 107:Lack of airconditioning - needed to open the windows, which then let in all the drunken noise at 4am.
Review 108:Location to Central Station - right on the doorstep
Review 109:Dinner at 10pm was not bearable: chicken meat was nearly raw, after we waited 45min. Terrible service at the bar. Loud noise at Central Station the whole night; no car park directly available; had to carry the luggage through the city (and back the other morning). If your requirements are for example to eat after 9:30pm (maybe because you arrive late due to traffic): avoid the bar! Go to one of the restaurants near the hotel (there are plenty of them).
Review 110:Large room; very clean bathroom.
Review 111:Just opposite the station without being noisy. Quite basic, the breakfast was rather uninspiring and the reception was unmanned for ten minutes when we left. However given the low price, it still represents good value for money for a hotel in the centre of a major European city. Would therefore be happy to stay there again.
Review 112:My room had no airo and was kind of hot. Alot of noise from the street down below because I had to sleep with the window open.
Review 113:Staff is very nice and helpfull. My room (including toilet and shower in the bathroom) was clean. Location is excellent (next to Antwerp Central Train Station).
Review 114:When our room windows faced the railway, it was too noisy. When we changed the room, everything was fine. No fridge
Review 115:Central location near the railway station. Friendly staff always ready to help
Review 116:we checked in the hotel at 14.30. when we arrived, our room was not prepared the lady was cleaning the room, after a while we were able to settle in our room almost at 15.00. Of course this kind of inconvenience may happen but the lady in the reception dest was really indifferent when i said we are waiting for 20 minutes at the door for the to be prepared. Moreover, the bed was not a twin bed, two seperate beds loosened up we were about to fall.
Review 117:Shower cubicle is extremely small. No hairdryer in bathroom. Breakfast is a bit expensive for a 3-star hotel.
Review 118:Right across the street from Antwerpen Centraal. Clean and quiet room. Good wifi.
Review 119:It was very dirty. Looked like the last time somebody cleaned that room, is a very long time ago. We didn't feel well at all.
Review 120:Located great. Other than that horrible
Review 121:No hair dryer. Even though smoking in rooms was prohibited, many guests smoked and merely threw their cigarette butts out the window. Parking was a problem and expensive. Hotel was not handicap or elderly friendly.
Review 122:Extremely friendly staff
Review 123:There was no wifi in the rooms itself, I had to stand in the corridor. The rooms were small with less decoration.
Review 124:Great location, the bathroom was very new and clean, receptionists were very helpful.
Review 125:Several room door locks need attention as you need to slam the door to activate latch, as a result considerable noise is generated whenever you try and close the door. Not ideal for early a.m. or late night periods!
Review 126:Excellent central location for use of public transport. Comfortable and quiet room, apart from door slamming!. Good standard breakfast buffet available as an extra.
Review 127:windows a bit dodgy with kids big drop so beware. also our room never locked from the inside so beware or small children walking out. road outside is a bit noisy but we had our window open as it was 30c ! . wifi didnt work in our room we had to stand in the hallway for a signal . walls were didnt but we only slept there ok for a quick city break
Review 128:We booked a family room, it was four single beds but you can push together and they were comfy. staff are friendly and the cleaners and breakfast waiter . all in all comfy beds and facing central station
Review 129:Rooms were not very clean room had no A/C. I presume normally not an issue when cold but during summer it is torture. Because of the location it was exceptionally noisy during the evening.
Review 130:Easy location - very close to central station, easy to find.
Review 131:WiFi was very intermittent, no hairdryer or tea/coffee making facilities in the room, no air con available - room was extremely warm. Toiletries provided were very basic in a sachet and barely enough for one shower.
Review 132:Location was very central
Review 133:It is extremely close to the train station, literally opposite it! (without realising you're next to a train station which is a plus). We only stayed one night, without breakfast, the room was decent sized and super clean. The location is excellent, one straight road to the shopping centre and historic centre. Staff are very friendly.
Review 134:Hit high summer in Antwerp, 36c outside and no air-con in the room!! Small windows in my single room so no real fresh air, but only used the room to sleep in. Room smelt musty.
Review 135:Very close to the station and metro, clean and free wifi. Good shower with plenty of hot water! Good value hotel.
Review 136:I was on the 7th floor and my room didn't reach the wifi. The staff showed no care in that I needed wifi as part of my trip. They said I should sit in the lobby. Plus when I was leaving I needed help with my bags cause it was just me and they said they couldn't as they were busy!!
Review 137:That it was very close to the station
