Reviews for Botel Marina
Review 1:It was a little tricky to drive to as it was inside the harbor parking area and a little note about how to drive in would help, but then most places we stayed in on this trip were not easy to find on the first pass.
Review 2:The location near the bus station and the walking areas of town, and that it was on the water.
Review 3:The room is somewhat small and has tiny windows. The air-conditioning is not adequate.
Review 4:The botel is walking distance away from the bus station. The room is newly furnished and clean. The boat hotel atmosphere is awesome.
Review 5:We got little sleep the first night because of a public rave at the boat next door, but nothing to do with the accommodation.
Review 6:It's different and so good. The cabins are quite spacious . The reception staff were very helpful. The restaurant is also very good.
Review 7:Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on... I am 22 and it gave me back ache! Poor Wi-Fi in lower decks. Thin walls so got woken up both nights. Its convenient but by no means luxury. Breakfast is rubbish too.
Review 8:Very convenient place to stay in the middle of the city. Right near a bar with outdoor beanbag, Boonker.
Review 9:On the whole we were disappointed with the accommodation and the hotel generally. The room had a powerful smell of diesel, there was absolutely no view, the fans were noisy and on all the time and the beds were in a poor state of repair. On one night he bar was rented out for a private function so hotel guests had nowhere to relax in the evening.
Review 10:Great location right by the busy city centre. The restaurant and bar area were nice when it was possible to use them
Review 11:Being a boat, walls are thin therefore many sounds sip through. But the location makes up for this.
Review 12:The fact that is a boat is fantastic and unique. It's clean and confy.
Review 13:felt it was a little pricey -room 2 single beds pushed together - nothing extraordinary nothing flash
Review 14:Nice & close to the bus station 24hr reception...great breakfast...lovely old ferry re furbished - would go back
Review 15:It can be noisy with people walking through the hallways.
Review 16:Checkin and out was a breeze. The restaurant and bar were convenient. The breakfast had a variety of options and was good for an included breakfast. It's proximity to the bus station was amazing (a three minute walk).
Review 17:Parking it's not the easiest: need kunas to pay it: cards or euros are not accepted... but that's not the hotel's fault...
Review 18:spending the night of a boat it's always an amazing experience! The bar located on the main deck is gorgeous :)
Review 19:Can't check in at 1pm. That was a bit annoying
Review 20:Parking space in front of the door-if you leave before 7am and don't need a ticket to get out. 5 min walk to the center
Review 21:Not much!
Review 22:The girl on the front desk was lovely. She remembered me from my booking asking for a quieter room and that it was my partners birthday. The room air conditioned. Breakfast was a great surprise.
Review 23:The staff are really nice and they help us as much as they could. The botel is in an amazing localization, just in the comercial and cultural area. It is nice to sleep in one boat, you can not see the difference of be in a normal hotel. Very clean and the rooms are very confortable. Lots of different people, young and not that young. The breakfast is ok, not the best one but it wasnt too bad. I will hardly recommend this place to stay!!!
Review 24:Man on reception was lovely! I travelled with a kitten and after bookinga single bed in a dorm, he messaged to say I would be unable to let itout of its cage. I then asked whether he would have a single bedroomavailable. He gave me the last remaining double bedroom for the price ofa single and did not charge me the extra 7 euro fee for the cat.Absolutely quality service, I wish I knew his name so he could beacknowledged! Bed also very comfy. Very cool to stay on a boat and soclose to bus station! Literally 50m 2 minute walk.
Review 25:The wifi didn´t work properly in our room but in public areas. The parking situation was very confusing. Hence, there was a huge parking space directly in front of the hostel but noone could really tell us how the parking system works. However, on the second day we got 1 of like 5 parking spaces from the hostel which solved the confusion kind of.
Review 26:The hostel was a very great choice to stay at. The idea of turning a boat into a hostel is amazing. The staff was very helpful and obliging. The rooms were spotlessly clean. The room provided everything we needed including a great air conditioning. The included breakfast was ok.
Review 27:Shortly before midnight the electricity in our room broke down, as we were all tired and already dressed for bed we hoped for a quick return and went to sleep. Next morning the temperature was around 30 deg C and we were lying in our own sweat. A complaint at the reception ended in a 5% price reduction and the comment that we should have complained earlier. So if you stay there, take care.
Review 28:This old ship is nicely refurbished and has small but modern furnished rooms. The bathroom is small but well functioning. The bar on the top level of the ship is very nice open to the harbour but closes at 11 pm. Within 5 min you are on the Corso, the main shopping street in Rijeka. A nice harbour restaurant is just on the other quay. Hadn't the electricity broken down it would have been a nice stay. Anyway we recommend it.
Review 29:Walls are very thin and any sounds echo along the metal staircases and corridors. Not great if you're a light sleeper.
Review 30:Great location - only 5 mins to the town centre. Friendly staff. The hotel had gone to great lengths to keep a nautical feel throughout the hotel while also making it comfortable. Nice bar to finish the night.
Review 31:Great location in the centre of town. Excited to stay somewhere a bit unusual. The rooms were great little cabins. Good showers. Helpful staff. Decent buffet breakfast. Nice bar at the top of the boat. Definitely recommend it.
Review 32:Location, quirkiness of the boat, nice bar.
Review 33:Fiind un vapor, spatiile comune sint inghesuite, poate fi dificil sa transporti valiza pe culoarele sau scara ingusta. Being a boat, hallways and stairways are narrow and steep. Carrying your luggage can be a bit difficult. Zona este putin zgomotoasa. Uneori au loc concerte pe puntea de sus si muzica se aude in camere, dar la un volum scazut. Area a bit noisy. Sometimes they host concerts on the upper deck and you can hear the music from your cabin (but the volume is low). Restaurantul nu are terasa, deci nici zona de fumatori. Dar puntea superioara, unde e barul, este in aer liber si se poate fuma. The restaurant has no outside open air section, so it is no smoking. Smoking is allowed on the bar deck, above the restaurant.
Review 34:Amplasarea - fix in centru. Ineditul cazarii - pe un fost feribot, transformat. Apa la dus are o presiune excelenta. Wifi bun. Camerele spatioase, hublourile se deschid la nivelul de sus (nu stiu daca si la cel de jos), dulapuri suficiente, mic dejun destul de bogat. Location - right in the centre of the town. The novelty of the hotel - in fact a real boat, former ferry. The shower is perfect - high water pressure. Good wifi connection. Large rooms, enough closet space, good breakfast. At reception level cabins, the windows can be opened to get fresh air. I do not know if this is the case for the lower deck cabins which are closer to the waterline. Parcare cu plata linga vas (este parcarea portului). Parking just near the botel (public paid parking).
Review 35:The walls are very thin - but you're on a boat! One of the girls at reception was amazing, the rest of the staff lack much personality which makes them a little unapproachable. Totally doesn't make a difference to your stay though - amazing place.
Review 36:Location, facilities and breakfast. Such a unique idea.
Review 37:nope~
Review 38:The location is very near the center, bus station and local market. There has ball on the Botel's bar every night. And with nice breakfast :)
Review 39:The entrance to the car park is before the Botel and this caused us to drive around the block a couple of times. The double bed is hard by the cabin wall whi h makes getting in tricky.
Review 40:Location was excellent, and the boat was interesting. There was a dance competition on the drinks deck which was fun.
Review 41:We stayed at Quadruple room and the only really negative thing is the glass which is on the top of the bathroom doors. Whoever goes at night in the bathroom, the strong light is shinning directly on the double bed. Towels were not the cleanest thing in the apartment.
Review 42:Amazing place, really worth to see it! Great location! Good breakfast.
Review 43:Noisy at night. No telephone for client's use. (Had to walk to Post Office)
Review 44:Very friendly and helpful staff. Ideally positioned in Rijeke. Room attractively appointed and very clean.
Review 45:Air conditioner doesn't quite handle the heat in the room making the stay a bit unpleasant.
Review 46:Different, funky premises Good breakfast Reasonable price Very good location
Review 47:No windows for breeze and air-con a little loud. Probably a lot noisier in busy season with bar and people in corridor (stayed in May). No fridge. Nitpicking really - loved it!
Review 48:Close to transport and town. Spotlessly clean and well presented. Porthole window for daylight. Nice restaurant and great breakfast. Better than expected
Review 49:1. The room was not cleaned after the previous night's stay, beds were not made up and towels were not changed. 2. On the booking.com website for the hotel, at the hotel entrance door and at the reception desk is stated that there is a 24 hour reception service, 7 days a week. The evening before departure, in addition, we confirmed with the lady at the reception that the reception would be attended at 5 a.m. the morning of departure, when we would have to leave to catch onward transport. We were very upset to find nobody in attendance at reception that morning at 5 a.m. for us to check out with. We looked for the staff member but could not find him/her. We luckily found the door open so that we could leave, (after ringing the front door night bell a few times to draw attention - to no avail). This was very disappointing.
Review 50:Only down side of this hotel is the noise; you can hear everything your neighbour is saying/doing and anyone coming home at 4am from the bar will wake you up.
Review 51:Great hotel, clean, nice rooms and great staff
Review 52:No. Never
Review 53:Good place to stay. Clean, Good location, value for money, and the restuarant in 2rd floor is very good and cheap and nice staff (dont looking for another place for dinner). Love it.
Review 54:We had no chair in our room, but I'm pretty sure we could have got one if we only asked.
Review 55:Good location, artful interior adaptation, clean, nicely arranged and spacious room, comfortable beds with fresh linen, good internet connectivity, helpful staff, tasty breakfast (buffet table).
Review 56:Paper thin walls, sounds like the people in the hallway are in your room. And watch out for the towel hook and the bathroom door, I still have a knot on my head.
Review 57:Nice big shower with good water pressure.
Review 58:Fun place to stay. The rooms are small but comfortable with room to put away clothes and a desk. Bathroom was small but fine. Breakfast was good. All the staff were super nice and spoke good English. I liked the bar on the top of the ship. Deserted almost in December. Almost right across the street was a nice grill restaurant. Short walk to stairs to castle. Main shopping street is across the street and up one block with shops, restaurants and bars. The bus station is a 5 minute walk. Good value. I would stay here when I return. We did not drive but it looked like lots of parking around the area.
Review 59:The noise proof is not good so earplug is essential if you choose to stay here. We see some little bugs in the room. The smell of aromatic is way too strong. One of the staff is a bit cold but the rest are kind.
Review 60:The location is good, you may walk to the city center of Rijeka. The botel is also a quite special stay to us.
Review 61:There are certain problems with parking next to the boat on weekend evenings. Actually, the hotel reserves some places for its guests, but nobody has informed me about that (and it is not mentioned in hotel description), so I had to park 700 m from the hotel.
Review 62:It is quite interesting to live on a boat with such a long history. My room was nicely furnished, clean and warm. There was plenty of electric sockets, so I could charge all my gadgets. Breakfast was ok for its price. I have got a 10% discount in boat restaurant for a lunch. Hotel staff is helpful and friendly. Excellent location - next to the old town, night clubs, shops and restaurants.
Review 63:Not all the staff were equally helpful - they ranged from surly but efficient to knowledgeable and helpful to friendly but not very willing to find out information for you. There were only two electricity outlets in the dorm and not near the beds, so no charging of your tablet while you read in the evening, unless you carry an extension cord.
Review 64:The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings of the room were new, so everything looked fresh. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm with its own bathroom, which was handy. The lockers were very spacious, more like one-person wardrobes, complete with coat hangers. Also, there's an on-board bar (good) and a restaurant that does excellent seafood dishes for very low prices. Tried it once and then couldn't really bring myself to eat elsewhere for the three evenings of my stay. The breakfast buffet is nothing out of the ordinary, but not bad. The location is excellent, with a bus stop right in front of the boat, and the main bus station and the centre within a very short walking distance.
Review 65:Ok only if want to party as it seems to attract very noisy people. And there is minimum soundproofing. I had to move cabins in order to try to sleep.
Review 66:Location
Review 67:Rooms are a bit small and basic. The one I was in wasn't really clean with some hairs, though others in our group didn't have that problem.
Review 68:Great location in the harbour of Rijeka, right next to the city center. Easy check-in, early check-in wasn't a problem. Good size bathroom with a decent shower. Breakfast was okay. Nice bar on the top deck.
Review 69:Good location. Spacious accommodation. Restaurant food of a high quality and very reasonably priced. Close enough to bus station to be able to walk to it. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 70:No negatives.
Review 71:Location, location, location. Yes right in the heart of Rijeka, and yet away from the noise of traffic. When it rained we spent some time in the 80 year old saloon enjoying view over city and Harbour.
Review 72:Only complaint is there was smoking in the bar, although it is an interior space and boat rules prohibit smoking in alll public areas.
Review 73:Double room was large. Wifi excellent throughout. Breakfast very good. Location great. We experience none of the noise issues that others mentioned. Perhaps the room can affect noise. We were forward lower port side, level D.
Review 74:Location was brilliant - right in old town. The staff were lovely - extremely helpful, provided recommendations for delicious reasonably priced restaurants nearby. Rooms - the concept of the botel is brilliant and the rooms are lovely. Don't feel any movement even though you're on the sea. A very substantial breakfast buffet was provided. One of the best hotels we stayed in, it was a highlight of our trip in across Croatia .
Review 75:The staff couldn't give us an advice which beach to choose.
Review 76:The botel is really unique in terms of its decor. The sundeck is comfortable. We liked the view from our window. The location is perfect, close to the city center and the bus stop.
Review 77:Inevitably perhaps, because it is a converted ship, the cabin walls are thinner and less insulating to sound than conventional hotel room walls. So you do hear people who come back to the boat during the night.
Review 78:Super location. This converted ship (once the yacht of a Dutch princess and then a car ferry is docked a two minute walk from the centre of town. The conversion was very well done. Everything is very new and smart.
Review 79:The main annoyance is they state that they have a KIDS CLUB. This is very misleading, what they have is a plastic castle, unsupervised, at one end of the bar, this is NOT by any definition, a Kids Club. Part of the reason for making our booking was they listed this as a 'Facility', a club that would occupy our son for an hour or so a day. Second problem, noise. Not totally the fault of the owners, but as it's a Hostel on the edges of the town the folk it attracts seem likely to be more boisterous. We experienced a lot of noise in the corridors, which have no carpeting or soft furnishings to absorb sound, a staircase to the upper deck cut through the corner of our room and was insufficiently dampened and insulated, and a nearby nightclub was very, very loud until 4am on Saturday night. A little more structurally could have been done to prevent these problems, but if you're on a Stag or Hen party....you'll probably be the one making the noise so don't worry!! Finally, the WIFI was very intermittent in our cabin, 3 minutes at a go was the most we got out of it...probably the Croatian version of Virgin Media.
Review 80:On the face of it, it's hard to complain about the Botel, it's very good value for money, very well maintained and excellently located for the centre of Rijeka. The name is a little misleading as they class themselves as a HOSTEL not a HOTEL and they are certainly better than 95% of the hostels around. The upstairs bar is very well presented and would not be out of place in a 4star hotel, its comfortable, well stocked and with good views.
Review 81:The mandatory air flow into the room, that comes from the ceiling, can not be adjusted by the tourist to a lower or higher level. It is adusted by the hotel staff, based on their criteria. Half of the room was below sea level; only the two round windows were above sea level.
Review 82:Staff is friendly - gives you a map of the city and any info you might be interested. Room and bathroom very clean and big enough considering the location on a boat. Bedlinen very soft. Air conditioning was very good and the botel is recently renovated. Good restaurant. Good breakfast.
Review 83:rooms are not really clean. you won't touch the floor with your feet even. (keep on shoes). breakfast is very basic and not well supported by staff. they advertise sauna - but there is none.
Review 84:at the very center of the city - in the middle of the harbour. And very moderate cost. This are the two big plus of this hotel. All the other things like staff friendliness, breakfast, cleansliness, room facilities etc. are so so. But location and cost outvalue the minuses.
Review 85:Staff was a little bit untalkative, they didn't inform us about wi-fi or breakfast etc but everything needed to be asked first. It was kind of hot in our room.
Review 86:It was a new thing for us to stay in a boat. It was very clean and location is really good! Easy to find!
Review 87:The staff weren't overly welcoming and rarely smiled. This was a shame as if they were more friendly and helpful it would have been an amazing place to stay!
Review 88:The location, the cleanliness, the rooms, the breakfast was good also.
Review 89:No tv. Diesel or cleaning solution-like smell from the bathroom in some of the rooms. We stayed here twice. Second time they had two rooms available and we chose the second on account of this. We'd stay here again.
Review 90:Kids loved the idea of a boat-hotel. The room is minimal, like a really good, clean hostel. There's a bar upstairs with latin dancing at least on Saturday night. Rijeka is pretty dead at night except for the harbor area bar/restaurants so you could do far worse for location.
Review 91:Absolutely nothing
Review 92:Location, unique hotel, comfortable and the staff were so helpful and friendly. A very well run hotel in the best position possible. Friendly and a stay we won't forget
Review 93:very, very poor breakfast (not enough for guests, fruit was not fresh any more) no parking
Review 94:beds rooms reception: they advices a very good restaurantt
Review 95:A great experience, close to pedestrian shopping area. Stayed in room with one double, and two single beds with bathroom, clean white linen and towels, good value for money, breakfast was included
Review 96:Botel Marina is in a perfect location for arriving/departing Rijeka by bus, also close to the main shopping area and good restaurants. We would very happily stay there again.
Review 97:- Staff could be a little more friendly and motivated.
Review 98:- The Botel Marina is located at the port right in the city center of Rijeka. 2min by foot into the center. - Our doubleroom was extremely clean, modern and very well equipped for a hostel. - The bathroom was also clean and the shower was great. - If requested your room will be cleaned. - Breakfast was delicious and included in the price. - A Botel is the best place ever! There was a sun deck and a bar where you could have drinks directly on the boat.
Review 99:Not all facilities open yet, but will be even better when has a sauna.
Review 100:Great location (near the bus station), friendly staff. Bar good for an evening also. Quirky place with unique rooms.
Review 101:wifi couldnt connect to all of our devices probably because too many people are using it the same time.
Review 102:Great location, nice sea view on the deck and bar.
Review 103:Room had minimal amenities (eg no cups).
Review 104:Central location Unique accomodation concept which is a refreshing change. Comfortable room with excellent shower. Excellent value for money.
Review 105:The cab company used to book a 20 minute cab to the airport cost 450 kuna (£50) whereas the going rate was about 250 kuna... There's probably some sort of an agreement there so book cabs yourself.
Review 106:Wifi was a big bonus Showers were very clean Let us check in early Free breakfast included
Review 107:Only towels are provided and liquid handsoap. No shampoo or bar soap, not a problem for us, but be prepare to bring your own.
Review 108:Good clean place at a great value. We used it as a stop over from driving, perfect for that.
Review 109:Our triple room was quite small, but remember - this is a boat! The breakfast also was very simple. Generally speaking, Botel Marina is cool for a short stay.
Review 110:The location is excellent, close to the centre, and the quay looks nice, with a long promenade and cosy restaurants and cafes. Hotel design is rather attractive, and having a coffee in the bar on the upper desk was wonderful!
Review 111:Just could not join wifi
Review 112:New bathroom, nice bed
Review 113:It was cold in the room.
Review 114:Everything ok
Review 115:Breakfast, quite room
Review 116:Hard to find parking
Review 117:The staff is very kind and helpful.
Review 118:Parking wasn't for free, or least with some discount.
Review 119:Excellent experience.
Review 120:Location, parking
Review 121:it was too loud,
Review 122:the location in the middle of the harbour is great!
Review 123:friendly staff & funky surroundings
Review 124:Location perfect Restaurant for dinner was very good. Drinks in the lovely bar were reasonably priced and lovely setting.
Review 125:Access was confusing due to road workings
Review 126:It's different. Nice modern clean facilities.
Review 127:What really impressed me is the cleanliness of the ship. 2 minutes walking distance from the bus station.
Review 128:Great location, good breakfast. Good price. If I go back to Rijeka, I will go to the same hotel.
Review 129:Bad pillows rooms can be hot and noisy
Review 130:Great fun, good location, comfy bed, great staff.
Review 131:My private room floor was a bit dirty.
Review 132:Great breakfast, the dorms were organised. Location was excellent.
