Reviews for Abbey Court Hotel, Lodges & Trinity Leisure Spa

Review 1:Nothing major bad with this hotel. Rooms quite old fashioned but this was OK. Quite expensive considering breakfast was not included in the price. We chose not to get the breakfast there as to be honest was a bit of a rip off. went to the local tesco down the road instead.

Review 2:Food was lovely in the hotel. We enjoyed the burgers and the steak. Loved the facilities in this hotel. Myself and my boyfriend spent a lot of our time down in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Definatley the best part of our stay.

Review 3:Booked for our wedding night. Got standard room .. No complimentary anything despite the note on our booking for a nice room

Review 4:Good food, nice leisure complex

Review 5:Rooms, food & amenities were top of the range. John o g the barman on duty both nights was lovely & catered to all our needs-provided us with great info on the local spots

Review 6:We arrived at 9.30pm and they had finished serving food and would only serve cold sandwiches and soup. The radiator on the corridor was broken and the corridor and room were freezing cold.

Review 7:Nice leisure center

Review 8:Reception staff, supervisory staff, and room cleaning ALL genuinely friendly, helpful and informative. Services, especially bedroom mattress quality, equal led, even exceeded, top 4 star London Heathrow standard we last year enjoyed in 2014. Well done.

Review 9:I booked in because i heard they have a nice swimming pool me and my boyfriend checj in they did not tell us we could only use the pool till 12 noon the next day as we arrived late we went for a meal which i spent 100e on the pillows were really flat and the room was very very basic nothing special that was fine the next moring we had our swimming gear ready only to be told we could not use the pool iv never ever heard the like of it iv stayef in lits of spa hotels and have bern aloud the manager paudie was unhelpful and told me it was policy in every hotel the whole thing was a joke i was very upset to have ment a lot of money to sleep on flat pillows and no swim which i had came for

Review 10:Smell of smoke coming under door from corridor. Was told by leisure centre staff that kids couldn't have floats - "they are only allowed for one hour per week on a Wednesday and Saturday!" So much for letting kids have fun! Kids were looking forward to the games room, it was a disgrace, not much in it and what was there was broken.

Review 11:Food in the bar was fantastic, well done to chef! Barman very nice and attentive.

Review 12:The Staff were great at Abbey Court Hotel, from accommodating a disability by putting us nearer the lift, to the friendly bar & reception staff. Good, powerful showers. Partner particularly enjoyed the local White Gypsy Ruby Ale gratefully recommended by the bar staff.

Review 13:The bed was very uncomfortable it dipped in the middle so we both woke up stiff

Review 14:Our Room was lovely very clean. The staff were fantasic and extremely friendly.

Review 15:Really warm at night although probably inflenced by the unseasonably warm weather. Dinner in the bar good quality but the breakfast was disappointing. The games room for older kids was unloved with a broken pool table and not much else.

Review 16:The leisure centre was great. Pool a great size. Also liked the decor of the hotel. The hotel is ideally located for exploring the surrounding countryside including Lough Derg.

Review 17:The beds were dipped in the middle & both of us had sore backs the following morning. Took away from all other aspects of the hotel which were quite positive.

Review 18:The staff were very professional & friendly. The location was was excellent.

Review 19:think the standard in the bedrooms were poor. the walls were dirty and in great need of a cleaning and painting.

Review 20:We had food in the bar which was lovely and the bar staff were good fun and well able to do their job.

Review 21:Doors banging late at night & also early in the morning ? Maintenance people started banging at 06.30 on one morning !! Cleaning staff couldn't get you out of the room as early as they'd have liked !! .

Review 22:Very clean and brilliant facilities ! Bar area was very good and food was really well cooked and presented .

Review 23:Noise from the heat/cold exchange plant for the swimming pool which sounded like a low hovering helicopter throughout the night.

Review 24:Hotel rooms very big, quality of food and service in the restaurant. Plenty of parking on site and Nenagh only a 5 minute walk away.

Review 25:when i booked this hotel i viewed the pictures of the rooms and all the rooms shown were spacious and nicely furnished yet the room we were given was basically a box with barely enough room for a very small double bed, it really was a horrible room, small dark with no decor whatsoever even two of the pillows had plastic covers

Review 26:leaving!

Review 27:Nothing much. Decor a little dated.

Review 28:Staff were superb, service top notch, breakfast very nice. Rooms and decor dated but clean and comfortable. Very pleasant.

Review 29:Breakfast! Where to begin the breakfast room was busy tables weren't been cleaered quickly enough and we got sent to the bar which we had no issue with. Until the serving staff forgot we were there and we had to walk around looking to get our tea and toast. Might not be the best idea to have guests seated in one room and to expect them to walk to the bar to get the fry? It caused a lot of confusion suggest maybe a little table service if possible. I think I overheard a mention of a breakfast menu but I never saw one. It was such a shame that breakfast was a shambles because overall up to that our stay had been a very pleasant one.

Review 30:The hotel itself is a nice location 5 min walk from town. The reception and bar were welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good had 2 evening meals in bar. There was lively music on Saturday night lovely atmosphere in the bar

Review 31:food in the restaurant leaves a little to be desired

Review 32:have stayed here now on quite a few occasions and have always found the hotel good value nice room great facilities and always look forward to coming back

Review 33:wasn't much to dislike, but the bar prices were exceptionally high and the use of cheap sausages at breakfast let them done

Review 34:Staff were very helpful and friendly , food was of a reasonable standard ( except breakfast sausages ) room was very big & roomy with free wifi & safe

Review 35:Felt the room decor could do with updating. Was very clean but shabby torn furniture, scratches on table, battered lampshades and TV very poor. What a pity as the rooms were very spacious and could have been fab.

Review 36:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 37:The bathroom fan hadn't been cleaned in a very long time and was very noisy and covered with brown dust, and there was a cobweb hanging from the ceiling in the shower as well. Furnishings are very dated and worn as well.

Review 38:Very pleasant and helpful staff

Review 39:I didn't find the food standard very good. I didn't find the dining area very appealing, maybe leave that area for people with kids and use the breakfast area for more relaxed dining. It would be a bonus if they let people have dogs in the lodges, I have having to leave my dogs behind.

Review 40:I particularly liked that I could open windows rather than relying on AC. It was also quiet near my room and the leisure facilities were good.

Review 41:I went just for the kids club but really it's just a baby sitting service even though when I rang I was told their would be movie etc. Also it doesn't operate at weekend which I wasn't told about when I rang as I did mention the trip was only for the kids activities so a bit disappointing But it is a nice Hotel

Review 42:I selected this hotel based on its location, near to where I was working. I didn't get to use all the leisure facilities, but the hotel has a grand feel to it with the large staircase and old furniture which I like. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 43:Breakfast was basic no variety of milks or fruits anaemic toast!

Review 44:The location suited us fine, the bedroom was very clean & comfortable, staff very polite and helpful.

Review 45:I didn't like the small bath and lack of toiletries. My partner found the bed very uncomfortable. There was a bad smell of mature in the whole hotel and the bar smelt of urine or something equally off putting. The breakfast was mediocre and the girl who served us was miserable. The whole day our tummies were upset following the breakfast. We were told that we weren't allowed in the pool or jacuzzi without hats that cost 4€!!! The hotel was expensive.

Review 46:The room was fine, bathroom was clean. The bed was nice and big and comfortable for me. Free wifi.

Review 47:See above comments about the cuisine

Review 48:I have stayed several times here. Everything bar the food is excellent. Breakfast is unappetising, unless you select poached eggs. The fried breakfast is not good. Tea is never boiling hot. Good selection of fruit salad and cereals. Had a 'Thai curry'ehich in reality was a grizzled chicken fillet with a pot of curry sauce, not Thai, that tasted like it came from a packet or tin. Bread is never totally fresh

Review 49:The furniture in is very dated. No view whatsover from room, exterior of property needs repair in some parts. Bed was very small.

Review 50:Staff were very friendly & helpful

Review 51:Great hotel , friendly staff and very family friendly , special word for Austin the young bar man , every thing done with a smile and a great manner . Well done , restored my faith in the Irish barman .

Review 52:Had a really relaxing break in this hotel. Most mpressed by the cleanliness of the hotel and the generous sized room. Staff are amazing - happy, cheerful, helpful. Hotel within walking distance of shops. Hidden gem in rural Ireland.

Review 53:Breakfast way to expensive.hotel could do with a makeover.cleaning staff making noise early in morning.bar would benefit from live music.

Review 54:Very close to town centre.staff friendly.nice leisure centre.

Review 55:I would have liked to see more fresh fruit available for breakfast, didn't like tinned fruit served.

Review 56:The bed was really comfortable and even though there was a lot going on in the hotel, the noise level was minimal.

Review 57:When checking in we were informed that the breakfast finished at 9.30 which is very early. We discovered on the last morning that the correct time was actually 10.30 which would have suited us better,

Review 58:Our bedroom was the most spacious we had ever stayed in.Very comfortable beds and the cleaning service was excellent.

Review 59:The room was nice with plenty of space but the bed was quite narrow and short and was not comfortable for two people.

Review 60:The staff were all so friendly and professional . Though it was busy in the bar, service was prompt and the food was superb.

Review 61:Walked into the room and the first thing I saw was a make up stain onthe mirror. The plug socket by the bed was coming from the wall when Iwanted to unplug anything and the paint around it was peeling off. Greatsafety measures obviously been followed here!!! Black marks all over thewalls. Spider webs on the ceiling. Dirt and more peeling paint withadded chipped wood on the window ledge. Broken tile in the bathroom justfilled in. Rubbish and had to pay €109 for it and then expected to pay afurther €15 for breakfast. Rip off. There are places in Nenagh where youcan stay for €35 and get free breakfast. Even the Wi-Fi here is poor. This took me 3 attempts to write out.

Review 62:Leaving.

Review 63:Nenagh itself disappointing place.

Review 64:Clean and comfortable accommodation. Friendly and helpful reception staff and dining room staff. Useful location for a one-night stop travelling from Dublin to Dingle Peninsular.

Review 65:No tours to surrounding areas; One needs to have a car to get around, which is bad news.

Review 66:Lovely building, beautiful stunning gardens; lovely rooms . Fantastic hotel

Review 67:my first visit - could have done with a little explaining how breakfast worked...I just followed someone else to get the cooked breakfast

Review 68:Very comfortable and spacious room

Review 69:The rooms could use a little updating - new carpet (seemed really old) and TV's (nice when you need the children to just relax). A note about the pool it closes pretty early if you are wanting to swim with children.

Review 70:We very much enjoyed the swimming pool. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was nice and the staff very friendly.

Review 71:I must say breakfast was very poor, it was not cooked fresh except for the poached eggs other items could only have been cooked much earlier in the morning a disappointment after the high standard of a totally enjoyable dinner the previous evening.

Review 72:I was impressed by the most efficient, professional and very friendly receptionist. I have to compliment the wonderful leisure facilities one of the best I have used in any hotel. I must highlight one very important element of an excellent accommodation experience is the bathroom shower and the large fluffy bath sheet which deserves a 5 star plus at the Abbey Court.

Review 73:i can't find a fault with the hotel to be very honest

Review 74:the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly the breakfast had a super choice and over all the stay was excellent value for money our room was very large and spacious and also very quiet on night we stayed in hotel

Review 75:Didnt have a view and the breakfast wasnt worth the price tag

Review 76:Everything, Big Comfy Rooms, Beautiful Gardens, 5 Minutes walk from the Town. Fantastic Pool & Jacuzzi. Great changing rooms with Hairdryers

Review 77:Room was tired and stuffy Food was a letdown Toilets were a mess and smelled Bed was uncomfortable No drinking water in the room

Review 78:Friendly and helpful staff Leisure facilities Free Parking

Review 79:Both morning we had cold showers despite the boiler apparently being fixed, not pleasant, especially getting ready for a wedding. No essentials in the self catering lodge such as Washing up liquid.

Review 80:The staff were very helpful and friendly. We attended a family wedding and the food they served was good considering the volume of people. The Self Catering Lodges are spacious.

Review 81:Room very shabby looking. Was clean enough but very worn looking. TV had no remote so had to ring for one. Realised after our dinner that TV didn't actually work properly. Top half of TV screen was blue and the channels flickered and buzzed. Didn't want to go calling maintenance at 10pm to replace it so we just went to bed. We were away for our anniversary so it was a bit disappointing. Don't think we would be staying again.

Review 82:Hotel looks fabulous from the outside and inside the lobby. Very nice bar. Amazing food in restaurant and the breakfast was great.

Review 83:Pity they don't run kids club on Sunday especially as it was a long weekend, also no music in bar on Sun night which on a long weekend was very disappointing. The music on the sat night was very out dated, could've been better.

Review 84:The hotel food was really good and the staff were very nice and helpful.

Review 85:I think the choice of dinner menu I like simple food

Review 86:I loved the room. I loved the location its. The kids really enjoyed the leisure center. Will definitely go back soon.

Review 87:Wasn't to keen on the food - fish cakes felt frozen food for a starter & the desert felt like it wasn't in the refrigerator.

Review 88:Staff were so nice & welcoming

Review 89:I was at a dinner function and as a vegetarian I was not impressed. There was no vegetarian option on the menu so I approached a senior member of staff who said he'd consult the chef about it, no problem. Then when the waiters/waitresses came around to take the order, I told her I was the vegetarian and the response was that there's a chilli curry (of some sort). I asked if it was very spicy to which the response was no, not really (I prefer mild curries). The meal that came out was in fact very spicy and as a result I couldn't eat it. It was curry with nachos and a guacamole. I had no choice in the matter so from that perspective I was disappointed. I would have loved a vegetarian risotto or a lasagne or something along those lines. I imagine though that in general for the restaurant, there is a vegetarian option.

Review 90:The facilities were smashing-lovely pool, gym, sauna etc. The staff were professional and courteous. The breakfast was fine

Review 91:Not so much a bad experience but the evening meals were a disappointment, your suppliers of meat and fish must give your chef a headache and he has our sympathy

Review 92:overall the abbey court hotel is excellent and all the staff were pleasant and always helpful thank you for always making us welcome

Review 93:Had breakfast and found the server behind the carvery very rude and not very helpful and found the food was flung on the plates with little or no care.Over other customers complain as well.

Review 94:Fresh clean comfortable rooms.Welcome smile from reception on check in and when leaving.Friendly barstaff and good service.

Review 95:Having to leave!

Review 96:Our entire stay from start to finish was a pleasure. Excellent staff. Grest food. Cant fault the place. Would stay there again without doubt.

Review 97:The swimming pool didn't open until 9.00am Sunday morning .

Review 98:The room was quiet and located on the second floor above the leisure center stairs . The breakfast was good and had plenty choice.

Review 99:Bar food only ok & received a dirty glass on numerous occasions.staff not very friendly.room booked not the same as one given on arrival

Review 100:The breakfast was lovely & good value for money

Review 101:Room service finishes at 930pm. Common areas need refurbishment.

Review 102:Room was nicely decorated quite modern and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and food in bar was lovely and reasonably priced

Review 103:Ordered a main course from the A La Carte menu and, although the Lamb Shank was cooked to perfection, the bed of couscous coupled with the presentation of the dish was completely unappatising..

Review 104:The Hotel staff were excellent in that they were friendly, informative and helpful at all times. Whilst I would be happy to stay at The Abbey Court again, I would have to think twice about having dinner in the hotel.

Review 105:Being woken by a party group at 4.30 am . They seem to wait about in the corridor for 20 minutes until they found their rooms . Then we got about 20 minutes of quietness followed by heavy snoring from one of the nearby rooms for the rest of the night however we do not blame the hotel for that .

Review 106:The evening meal was excellent and the staff were very helpfull. There is a nice swimming pool at the Abbey Court hotel.

Review 107:Wifi not consistent bed too soft. Tv needed retuning.rooms a little shabby need an update

Review 108:The staff were very helpful particularly in the bar. Michael very attentive when serving us and got us seating when bar was crowded Good value for money

Review 109:Couldn't get internet connection most of the time but not a big deal for us.

Review 110:Just about everything. We spent New Years Eve here and had a lovely time. Despite the busy time of year and a wedding going on, the staff were excellent. They have really captured what customer service means. We arrived a little early but the rooms were ready so we could check in. I had requested interconnecting rooms if possible, this was provided. My son ordered a meal and then didn't like it - we went to order something else but they insisted changing it was not a problem. The leisure centre was great too - super size jacuzzi, so no waiting for people to get out in order to get a turn. Efficient and tasty breakfast. Overall would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break away.

Review 111:The dado rail around the walls in the bathroom were dusty. The changing room in the pool area was very cold for a young child to shower & dress, so we dressed & bathed in our room.

Review 112:I called down to reception as the room felt very cold. Upon arrival the air temp was between-1 & 4 degrees. The manager came directly up to our lovely big room, agreed the radiator was not very hot even though it was on setting 5. Within 5-10 mins he arrived back with a plug in heater. Very accommodating!!

Review 113:from the moment we arrived til the minute we left we loved it. left some important personal belongings and the front office staff were amazing in helping me. highly recommend this hotel

Review 114:I was originally given the worst rooms in the hotel(think they were 305 and 307 ) - and had to ask for a change . Not sure why i was given them

Review 115:Location, food and ambiance

Review 116:Trouser press and iron in the room were not working. The replacement iron leaked water.

Review 117:The staff were very helpful and the food was excellent. This is an hotel that I will use again when the Limerick area.

Review 118:The dinner was not to my liking bland roast potatoes pork chops were not tasty and were smothered in a sickly sauce my partner found the poached eggs cold they were fine for me

Review 119:Courteous staff very helpful room very clean and comfortable needed extra pillows from reception I use this hotel on a regular basis and have always enjoyed my stay

Review 120:Everything was just right, The staff made me feel very welcome, the Room and the view was amazing, the Evening meal, th Duck was just cooked right, the breakfast was cooked to perfection. Well done to all.

Review 121:I really liked this hotel and would like to go back, wld recommend!! Our visit was very brief and we were at a function in another facility so didn't really get full benefit out of room/hotel amenities!!

Review 122:Foyer used as reception for weddings, seriously unwelcoming, very noisy and busy for other guests....but its likely the main business!

Review 123:Spacious tidy room. Free use of gym & spa area. Friendly & helpful staff.

Review 124:Rooms weren't very well soundproofed. could hear the doors in the corridors banging all night and Canadian group singing outside our room at 2:30am on Thursday night/Friday morning was a pain.

Review 125:John in the bar was fanatic for our entire stay. Always Smiling and joking and was a pleasure to be dealing with for the duration of our stay. Leisure centre was lovely esp the spa pool area. Bar food was very nice. Room was large and plenty of storage.

Review 126:See note over head

Review 127:Just wanted to advise the hotel that I stayed in room 108 on Saturday night . The floor joining from the bathroom floor to the bedroom floor had a timber carpet gripper exposed with steel tacks exposed , I failed to mention this on check out as the receptionist was busy , however , for future guests or even children in that room , I urgently advise you to have this looked at. ,

Review 128:The cooked breakfast is not that appetising. No entertainment/music No atmosphere in the bar due to no entertainment or music - would be nice at at week ends. Rooms a bit shabby - need refurbishment. Tried to access leisure centre from my room at 9.10 and the door was locked. Had to go down to reception to be told they would be open in a minute - an apology would have been a more appropriate response

Review 129:Most of the staff are very helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable. The housekeeping staff are very efficient and unobtrusive. The pool is very inviting and liked the spa pool facility

Review 130:Bathrooms tiles could do with updating. Hot breakfast on the skimpy side, small plates to make it look big. Only 1 rasher 1 sausage they could have had 2 of these 2 pieces of pudding some mushrooms, beans which were lovely some fried baby potatoes which were heavy for breakfast hash browns would have been much better. Continental breakfast was lovely..

Review 131:Location Cosy feel to hotel Staff very welcoming very clean Plenty of parking Loved the medieval feel to the hotel

Review 132:Games room was unclean. Could have more pillows on the bed.

Review 133:Spacious hotel. Nice interior theme. Lovely bar staff and food. Pool was fabulous. Lovely car park!

Review 134:Staff were excellent, Pool and leisure facilities were top notch. Room was clean, perhaps slightly dated, Overall extremely happy and would recommend it!

Review 135:No net curtain up to the window which meant you had to draw the curtains to change.

Review 136:The room was great and the Spa and pool brilliant. Food was excellent

Review 137:Rooms a little shabby. In need of refurbishment Spa was out of action during my stay

Review 138:The staff were very helpful and polite. There was a a lot of choice for breakfast and was good value for money. The bedrooms are airy with exceptionally clean bed linen housekeeping staff were unobtrusive
