Reviews for Udai Kothi
Review 1:Breakfast room is a bit hectic. Owner is expanding to provide more space.
Review 2:Great location, plenty of places to eat nearby, quiet at night, 20 min walk to palace. Nice heritage rooms. Good pool. Friendly staff.
Review 3:staff totally unreliable. Two months before to go at Hotel Uday Kothi I asked a car to go to Nagda and Ekklingji, and ( the day after), to Kumbalgarh Fort, Ranakpur and Ghanerao ( where we had the hotel reserved). Mr. Nikhil, by the mail of the hotel, asked me Rupees 6.500 for every tour. I agreed only for the second tour ( the most important), thinking the price for the first tour was too expensive. The day we arrived at the hotel they said it was not posible the second tour, and asked Rupees 5.000 for the first tour ( to Nagda and Ekklingji). I asked at a travel agency in Udaipur, and they asked me Rupees 1.800 for the first tour and Rupees 3.800 for the second tour. So Mr. Nikhil is totally unrealible and very hexose
Review 4:very good hotel in very good position
Review 5:-staff not courteous and helpful enough. - wifi almost inaccessible from the room. - problem of warm water in the morning during checkout (5am). Took half an hour to activate warm water which was not even enough to take a shower. - no bathroom slippers. - bathroom amenities were of poor quality considering the room tariff. - rugs placed in the room were extremely dirty - got them removed. - linen was stained - got it changed - We reached the hotel 2 hours before the check in time and were told that that room was not ready so we requested the staff to let us have breakfast that day (since it was part of our package) instead of the last day (since we had to check out at 5 am) to which the receptionist refused. After some persuasion however he spoke to the restaurant manager and let us have breakfast. After an hour and a half we were called from the restaurant and were told that the room was ready. However on reaching the room we found out that cleaning was still taking place. - 2 dogs persistently in the premises, sometimes barking and just loitering around disturbing people who are not very pet-friendly.
Review 6:The location was close to the all the attractions The room size was quite nice and isolated from the outside noise Food was good and decently priced.
Review 7:We ate lunch in the restaurant and didn't think it was very good. Breakfast was fine.
Review 8:loved, the roof terrace, magnificent views and very pretty at night. Rooms comfortable and very clean.
Review 9:Wifi can be tad slow, today's day and age we need to be connected for pleasure and business
Review 10:Just a very beautiful property, specially Madam Bubneshweri and the Royal Bassett with an attitude " Laddo " who made us very welcome
Review 11:Roof toop resturant service was pretty average. Didn't get the impression that staff are working with passion ..more like going with flow type of attitude and one could see it
Review 12:rooms were nice, front desk staff were helpful. the facility is a good one and well managed
Review 13:Not really worth the amount of money we paid for it. There was only concrete buildings seen from he terrace and not the lake. Don't believe they were actually charging other patrons for a lake view room when the only thing they could see was concrete. I spoke to three other people who we're staying there and they were prety pissed. We had a garden view room at a third of the price of the lake view room and that was good. Do not get the lake view room, it is a rip off.
Review 14:Great breakfast, good location and ease of walking access to places of interest. CLEAN and we'll maintained hotel. Garden view room is the best worth for money.
Review 15:The service is very very bad and has a long way to go. The staff is clearly not trained to work in hospitality services, which is a shame for such a beautiful property. Don't be fooled by the "view" they sell: only tiny windows covered by curtains, don't waste your money on this. Even a "lake view" is a view with 90% building and 10% lake. The frames (portraits) in the bedroom - too creepy.
Review 16:Location is great, the garden inside the property is stunning and everything is made of marble in the suite rooms. The design and decoration of the hotel is beautiful. You can walk to the center of Udaipur and many stores around the property
Review 17:I like rooms and interior , calm and cozy atmosphere
Review 18:Cleanliness and management is good but there should b more like jacuzzi not working for three days and pool is in the terrace so there should b heated pool . These basic facilities were lacking . There should b optional lunch or break fast as complimentary, b coz on holiday with small children it is very tough to b on time at10 in morning
Review 19:The service and management is horrible, infactvthe two owners of this private property are both mental patients and threatens guests to leave without refund
Review 20:This is the worst property we ever stayed at we had to leave in the middle of the night asbthe management was insane and threatened us to leave since we had complainednof the shocking service.would recommend booking to take some action horrible property , managament owners are probably two lunatics on drugs would not revommend anyone to stay here , scary and terrible to say the least
Review 21:Service and Staff Management were very poor. Late and Not so warm behavior by the Reception staffs.
Review 22:Rooms, Garden Area, Rooftop Dining area were very neat, clean and superbly maintained.
Review 23:Breakfast menu was repetitive, needs to be looked into. The front office staff need to be more swift and responsive.
Review 24:An excellently maintained property and a cheerful staff. Keep up the good show.
Review 25:1.Staff doesn’t pay attention while I was standing there for check-in.. He totally ignored me.. 2.TV connection was expired which is actually can be recharged in 15 min.. They took whole day for it 3.on first day water was not at all hot even after multiple complaints it did not get resolved 4.limited parking space available 5.Room given to me was not having any good view it is on back side of the hotel 6.Road going to Hotel is so tiny that at a time only one car can pass 7.I didn't like the food there
Review 26:1.Location is near pichola lake 2.Room is very pleasant
Review 27:No outlook. The milk glass windows could not be opened...
Review 28:Had booked a deluxe room, but none was available. Got upgraded to asuite, which was very spacious and beautiful.
Review 29:Hotel room was still under construction, all amenities where working and in place just needed to be finished off. Also builders making a slight bit of noise. But we didn't spend much time in the room so all ok!
Review 30:Great location, friendly staff, beautiful building.
Review 31:Front desk staff need more training in attending guests and helping with the check in process. There was 3 of them at the desk and none were particularly responsive. Need to attend one guest at a time.
Review 32:Breakfast and room view facing the lake were great. Dining staff was very helpful. The property is well maintained with an amazing photo collection of princes and royal families from the owners personal collection. The location near the lake in the narrow streets of old city are perfect. Do visit Ambrai restaurant for dining by the lake.
Review 33:The Wifi didn't work on the top level where our room was, so we have to go down to the garden or lobby to use wifi.
Review 34:Everything was perfect. The hotel is tastefully furnished and decorated in the "old world" style. The staff were friendly, and helpful with everything. The location was quiet, with no traffic noise, and we could walk everywhere from the hotel.
Review 35:@ Checking in, were offered hopeless rooms in new underdeveloped facility. After little arguments, were offered rooms in older better facility.
Review 36:excellent decor, very tastefully done.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:One of the best hotels we have stayed in( including Taj Group) made particularly welcome by the owner who has made this hotel into a Palace, thank you for a perfect stay
Review 39:WiFi was very unreliable
Review 40:Loved rooftop restaurant. Beautiful rooms and marble bathrooms. Amazing architecture.Easy to walk to sights. We used hotel boat for 45min excursion on Lake which was great. This was our favourite hotel in India
Review 41:Staff at reception desk need to be more active.
Review 42:The owner,s concern for our comfort and her hospitality remarkable. The dedication of the staff for serving the guests good.
Review 43:None
Review 44:A very sweet and touchy owner.once she came to know about my birthday overhearing my 3 yr grandson wishing me happy birthday, she surprised us by arranging birthday cake with flowers. We were touched.
Review 45:The reception by the staff when I reached the hotel was quite hostile in terms of their approach They could not provide transportation for dropping ne to the station which I had to arrange for myself On the first day of lunch it took about 45 to 1 hr to serve the lunch after placing the order No lift facility. Had to climb 3 floors with my 5 year old kid For the price I paid not worth it.
Review 46:The room was spacious.Food was good
Review 47:Staff during dinner time seemed overwhelmed by the full house and were not able to handle the orders correctly. Wifi did not function during our stay.
Review 48:Liked the ambience
Review 49:Access is frightening. Though I guess nothing can be done under the current situation, some traffic management - one-way streets would help.
Review 50:Homely and comfortable. Location is such that you copuld walk to almost all places of interest.
Review 51:Wi-Fi did not work The lift was undergoing repairs and created inconvenience on the second day of our stay Food (lunch and dinner) is expensive relative to other hotels in the area
Review 52:Excellent location Very clean and well maintained Tastefully decorated looby and rooms, give you a very royal and special feel Polite and helpful staff Sumptuous breakfast Value for money stay
Review 53:The hotel is building extra rooms in the garden. Construction work is going on. Drilling the whole day. We needed an extra bed for our son. This bed was such poor quality that my son had to sleep on the floor! Lake view room means a small window and trough the buildings you can see some small part of the lake. Not worth the extra money for that. I would have chosen another hotel would I have informed about these things before booking.
Review 54:The pool was great, restaurant very nice and free wifi.
Review 55:The hotel is a construction site. It is impossible to relax or rest as there is hammering, drilling, etc, going on all day every day.
Review 56:The hotel has a lot of potential and could be nice if it wasn't a construction site.
Review 57:The rooms were really spacious and felt very at home here. Was ten minutes walk from the old town and right next to the lake. Lovely rooftop pool and the breakfast was great. Would recommend.
Review 58:Our room was incredible! Large, marble with antique furnishings and lovely little touches like bowls of flowers. Even had a four poster bed which was so beautiful and very comfortable. The pool area was a real highlight too.
Review 59:Great location, lovely staff, amazing cleanliness and attention to detail, absolutely beautiful hotel with history, beauty and interesting features. Second stay here and will always come back :)
Review 60:-very weak wifi, didn't work for two nights. -check out at 10 am.
Review 61:-excellent atmosphere and decoration. -very nice breakfast. -beautiful and comfortable rooms.
Review 62:The hotel is under construction. A lot of noise. Very unpleasant and rude manager who claimed to be the owner of the hotel. Poor rooms. poor breakfast. Stay Away!!!
Review 63:We did not realize that our rooms were up 3 flights of stairs, which proved arduous fro our elderly parents. Hot water is turned off between 9-10pm, when you are most in need of a shower. Close proximity to mosque and early morning call to prayer. Free Wi-Fi connection not good in rooms
Review 64:The staff at Udai Kothi were very obliging and the suites were extremely spacious. We had booked three rooms for our family and were upgraded to an additional lake-facing suite on arrival. Do not miss the candlelit dinners on the stunning rooftop, although the view was somewhat marred by the construction of the hotel’s extensions. The food is excellent, particularly the tandoor and vegetable dishes, and very reasonable. Great location. Spacious suites.
Review 65:personal attention, very good, It is well located, they have good service and you get a rickshaw to go to visit the monuments. It is the best you can find in the city.
Review 66:Biggest let down is breakfast quality. Menu is repetitive without imagination. Quality of raw materials used is substandard. Cost is exorbitant for the quality If hotel looks and implement suggestions endorsed in the book at reception, stay can become more memorable.
Review 67:Suit of hotel is dream like with exclusive private pool just 6 feet from bed and similar zakuzi at terrace. Ambience is out of the world. Staff is polite hospitable and efficient.
Review 68:The only drawback which I found was that lift is not up to mark.
Review 69:Ambience of room is excellent. Staff is very courteous. Rooftop dinner is a wonderful experience.
Review 70:Reaching the place may be a dampner. Chances are you may get stuck in the bylanes
Review 71:Overall experience was very good. Courteous staff and very accommodative management
Review 72:Food is little overpriced And the wifi is very pathetic.
Review 73:It lies in the best location with close proximity with lake pichola.. Everything is approachable. Staff is very friendly. Best part is the roof top swimming pool with the view of lake adding to is the good and finger licking food.. Not to forget an amazing boat ride arranged by uday kothi..
Review 74:The toilet in our room did not flush properly, and there was no hot water in the shower. Our room was listed as a "lake view" suite, but most of the view was of other buildings and rooftops with drying laundry.
Review 75:Staff were very friendly. Location was fine, but we found that other hotels with just as much charm were closer to the lake and had better views.
Review 76:As it was online booking, I got a room without bed (low materess) ac worked only first night, oldest tv with a moody remote which works if it has mood to work, if you are in relaxing mood, forget it and wake up early to get hot water as there is no geyser. WiFi never worked in room.
Review 77:The tarrace
Review 78:Wifi connection could be improved and towels could be upgraded...
Review 79:Very beautiful place to stay, good location and frankfull staff. most of the city spots are quite nearby. Very good restaurants on the hotel's roof and right in front of the hotel. Very beautiful garden inside the hotel (hotel's court).
Review 80:Preposterous and largely overpriced. Everything is for the eyes, in order to create a nice impression and produce nice pictures. For the rest, you'll be disappointed. They don't deliver what they advetise for. Their numerous staff -in stained and saggy clothed- was simply clueless ou brainless. Gloomy water in the swimming pool, wet and smelly towels, dull food though expensive, breakfast not ready at 7 am. We booked suites with a view to the garden and were given rooms with no windows to the outside. We had to negociate to get other rooms, smaller, (and struggled to have them at their real price) and still had to move the day after, but the rooms were not even ready on time. The hotel, noisy and busy, was under massive reconstruction, but they charged us the normal fare for this place we initially booked to relax peacefully.
Review 81:The approach towards Hotel is extremely narrow. Only one car can pass through the lane. Once you are in the Hotel, you cannot go out in your car.
Review 82:The property is centrally located in the City. Therefore, approaching any desired destination is very easy.
Review 83:minor details not event worth to mention view (temporarily) tarnished by buildings under construction
Review 84:ideal location, character and elegance of the hotel and its garden + swimming pool, highly professional service, outstanding boat-diner on the lake (high price but justified)
Review 85:Sometimes the hot water didn't work but it was so hot outside that it didn't really bother us
Review 86:The reception staff were extremely helpful and professional, the staff in general are fantastic and the grounds are kept meticulously. It's the perfect place to relax for a few days and get away from all the noise and chaos
Review 87:The mattress is very high. So getting down from bed specially for older people is slightly difficult. There is a scarcity of breakfast items. Not much choice for Indian tourists .
Review 88:Cleanliness. Behavior of people and the ambiance of the campus. Bathrooms are very good.
Review 89:Breakfast was good but the personnel was not organized. Service was very slow and food missing from the buffet
Review 90:Perfect location, in the centre of the town but quiet and far from noise and crowd. We were upgraded to a suite room because of construction works going on in the building on the left side of the hotel. Rooms were spacious, nice and perfectly clean. Very nice Restaurant on the Roof top.
Review 91:The hotel was excellent. Great staff, comfortable room, swimming pool that you can do laps and a good location. Would stay again.
Review 92:The facilities and staff
Review 93:They arranged for a Wash n Change room, which was good and that too in the early morning check-in without any hassle. The staff was courteous and ready to help.
Review 94:The bed kept making the squeaking noise. The Wifi was very slow and was sometimes pointless to use. Due to low occupancy the breakfast was not laid out on a couple of days and hence there were limited options available.
Review 95:The staff is extremely helpful. The rooms are very big and give a very traditional royal Rajasthani feeling.
Review 96:The room that we had booked, we found it stinking. It was a small room with a lot of dumped furniture! The pics on Booking.com is a stretched view. That room was disappointingly small. The food was pathetic and not matching to what it should be! We wanted to explain our toddler's food requirement to the chef while dining at their restaurant, the waiter said he will not come to us. The waiter himself was busy talking over the phone for around 10min when we decided to leave for Lalit hotel where the chef delivered as per our expectations. There is absolutely no one who can assist you with the sightseeing queries. Hotel's staff is highly untrained!! They never greeted the guests while crossing them.
Review 97:The hotel was kind enough to upgrade us to a suite.
Review 98:As I was the only guest in whole hotel and I was there for 3 days. I told them that I am not getting hot water. I complained them each day but they are not able to solve the problem. While making payment and told them this issue but the receptionist person told me that his owner said not to provide the hot water as we have only one guest in whole hotel.
Review 99:Toilet is in poor condition, the hotel is surrounded with buildings and construction sound all day . from the photos in the site it shows as if its located at the banks of lake pichola actually its surrounded with buildings, lake can be seen from some parts of the hotel.if getting ur car reaching to this place is a problem asvery small lanes have to be tackeled.
Review 100:Overall decor
Review 101:Everything!!! The hotel is located in such a congested area, the placeis hardly accessible by car. The facilities are namesake. Most of themare either in bad shape or not working Staff is neither trained norbothered to help customers I was traveling with my 70+ parents and sincelift was not working they had to climb the stairs We complained butnobody was bothered Swimming pool has so many broken tiles it'sdangerous Jacuzzi was not working Restaurant was charging five starrates but had no air conditioning The list goes on and on Worstexperience of my bookings through booking.com I requested for acancellation but the booking was no refundable so neither hotel norbooking.com helped
Review 102:Nothing to like!!!!
Review 103:For the reference of the hotel a minor inconvenience was the wifi password system whereby the password needed to be changed fairly frequently. a minor annoyance/feedback.
Review 104:on arrival we elarnt staff had upgraded us for our romantic stay owing to the fact that it was low season. an extremely kind gesture for which we were very thankful. Arif at the desk was very accommodating and was also able to check us into our room early as we had arrived on the morning train from Agra which, again, was most kind. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the pool exquisite. A memorabe stay and would highly recommend!
Review 105:Nothing.
Review 106:Udai kothi looks like staying at Palace & it's a lifetime experience. Nicely made all areas like reception, garden, every floor having seating arrangements with old king or related photographs, roof top swimming pool & restaurant plus we got complimentary cake as requested that coming for my 1st anniversary. Food is good.
Review 107:The staff was very friendly and helped us. We wanted to shoot some pictures in presidential palace. They happily allowed us. The place is well maintained and has excellent bathrooms in suite rooms. The president suite is a perfect place to stay for a Romantic get away and honeymoon. It has a swimming pool of its own and terrace garden with sitting. It also has a terrace dinning area. The swimming pool in the campus is very well maintained.
Review 108:The wifi was not working during our entire stay (4 days): the front staff did not care and was rude when we complained about it, saying it was the telecom provider that was to blame for it. In addition, the breakfast was not poor. Lastly, the restaurant was overpriced given the quality of the food (and compared to other restaurants in the area).
Review 109:The hotel is nice, well located (within walking distance from all restaurants & palace/lake), room is spacious and comfortable, and the swimming pool is nice on the rooftop.
Review 110:Reception staff weren't overly helpful when WiFi wouldn't consistently work. Breakfast could have more variety. More comfortable bed or linen.
Review 111:Stayed in a beautiful 4 poster bed. Nice classic style to the large Suite we stayed in with an excellent bathroom. Friendly waiting staff and a beautiful curry for lunch. Rooftop pool and dining area small but beautiful with nice views. Really short walk across bridge to where most of attractions are.
Review 112:Wi-Fi needs improvement, breakfast room needs A/C, pool deck needs more shade.
Review 113:Great staff, beautiful pool and grounds, spacious rooms, excellent value for $$.
Review 114:There is nothing not to like. The hotel is perfect!
Review 115:The hotel owner was at the front door to welcome us. All of the hotel staff were well trained and helpful. We were upgraded to a suite free of charge. All facilities were very good and the view was amazing! I would return to this hotel over and over again. To top it off, the hotel is a bargain
Review 116:During my stay ,there was no wifi at all, Some technical problem couldn't get rid of .Free Wifi is a must for modern world ,though.
Review 117:Basically everything is all right, but not particularly fond of certain service. However, the service attendants were excellent.
Review 118:Buffet breakfast, quality of food ... We ordered Kheer (Rice Pudding) the just boiled the rice with milk... If you stay there eat out ...
Review 119:King Bed very comfy
Review 120:Wi-Fi never worked despite promises of it working "very soon"
Review 121:- Price is very reasonable. - View from restaurant and suite is superb. - We got a free upgrade to the suite, sweet!
Review 122:Food was ok, but nothing special. Staff managed to bring us the wrong things several times, after not taking time to listen to us. Wifi didn't work they said for a couple of days.
Review 123:Clean and pleasant rooms, kids loved the bathtub, the pool, the restaurant. I loved the apple crumble pie.
Review 124:Great service, location, friendly helpful English speaking staff. The hotel is beautifully appointed. Rooftop pool is beautiful and the food in the restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced. Couldn't ask for more.
Review 125:Our stay there was too short.
Review 126:Everything! . The personal touches. The fact that the owner greeted us the next morning after our arrival. The private, sunset boat ride on the lake. The attentive staff, the garlands, and our beautiful marble decorated suite with los of flowers in the bathroom!!!!
Review 127:The hotel is expanding, which means that bits and pieces are under construction and an eye sore. However, we were not disturbed at all by any work that might have taken place.
Review 128:Udai Kothi is conveniently located from all that you could possibly want to see in Udaipur which, include both the big hotels like the Taj and Leela but also smaller boutique restaurants like Ambrai. The hotel is cozy, the rooms nicely designed and the service is excellent. As a female traveler I felt especially safe. A perfect balance between a boutique hotel and home stay. Hands down the best part is the hotel rooftop. It houses an amazing restaurant, beautifully lit up every night, serving great food and the best cocktails I've had in Udaipur and possibly rivaling any I've had anywhere.
Review 129:The drive to the hotel via the narrowest of "galis" can be fairly daunting to the uninitiated.
Review 130:Beautiful rooms done up Royally.. Nice rooftop pool although not heated!! Very helpful staff. Vintage photographs everywhere with captions can be quite addictive to read.
Review 131:Lack of wifi for duration of stay and no real idea that anyone was doing anything to fix We had booked onward train tickets via the hotel but we're on a knife's edge as to whether we would get them in time as "the man" was always coming with them in an hour each time we asked over two days. Eventually all was well but they had assumed us tickets would be awaits g us on arrival.m
Review 132:Lovely ambience, Spacious attractively furnished rooms. Nice pool and roof top restaurant.
Review 133:The Internet and wifi never operated at all!!! The hotel without Internet facilities can not justify the rate asked. The management claim during my four days staying that the problem is going to be resolve. Nothing happen . Ask for compensation on the rate price, never came back. If you get a room bellow the third floor restaurant be ready to wake up every morning at 06:30 am. Because of the noise and never be able to sleep before 10:00 pm.
Review 134:The weather was cool to cold at night and the room was difficult to heat with the space heater. The roof top dining was too cold after sunset.
Review 135:Beautiful suite, great breakfast and dining room. Really liked the garden and and the garden view - we preferred to go to the lake and didn't miss the lake view.
Review 136:The city MAIN PART is at a walking distance if we use the small shortcut walkway roads but due to the typical construction of small roads it is very difficult to use the vehicle. This information shall be provided with a map while chek in
Review 137:LOCATION.
Review 138:Getting to the hotel at busy times down the very narrow street was interesting but once there it was like an oasis.
Review 139:All the staff were polite and friendly. The hotel decor was beautiful. The views over the lake from the dining terrace were spectacular. We chatted with the owner who told us the history of the hotel.
