Reviews for Parknasilla Resort & Spa
Review 1:We stayed for one night and found the friendliness of the staff to be exceptional .We ate in the bar and the food was superb. Relaxed all evening in a cosy bar and enjoyed a window table with fantastic views for our breakfast. Even thought weather conditions were bad we managed a walk around the designated walks afterwards visiting the beautiful spa facility . Wished we could have stayed longer.
Review 2:amazing grounds, rugged and wild yet so well maintained. Only disappointed that we didn't go for an upgrade as had a view of car park and buildings!
Review 3:There was a slight chill in the bar/ lounge on Saturday afternoon
Review 4:The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was amazing and we had a gorgeous four poster bed in our room! We emerged completely relaxed after our stay and will definitely return!
Review 5:the address given was inadequate. address was Sneem - the resort is not in the town of sneem. a few miles up the road ! but once there absolutely stunning.
Review 6:Our evening meal on the first night of our stay was disappointing. I ordered the pan-fried turbot and it was tasteless and tough. I ordered a cheese board for dessert and there such a heap of cheese served - I couldn't eat it. We dined in Sneem the following night.
Review 7:The leisure facilities were excellent, the walks very enjoyable. The staff were very helpful.
Review 8:Lots. The menus were not particularly varied, the general fit and finish of the hotel was tardy in places, the so called hot breakfast buffet was cold by the time you got to your table, the mattress was as comfortable as a sack of chains, the bath was far too small, lots of doors banging at various times, not enough choice on television channels.
Review 9:The staff were lovely apart from one who closed the door on us even though he was walking out the main door and saw us coming in. It was out first impression, thank God the rest of the staff made up for him.
Review 10:An ideal destination for those who want to relax and for those who want to spend time actively. Great location, beautiful views. Large clean room, lovely pool and great hot tub outside
Review 11:We had a beautiful room looking out over the sheltered cove. It was originally very well-decorated but needed maintenance as the walls had been badly scuffed in obvious places.
Review 12:Spectacular location, with tiny pristine coves and little islands linked by boardwalks and foot bridges.
Review 13:The spa area was covered in kids. And at the relaxation area u can just hear kids screaming. Not to spa to go for a escape at. Not the best food either.
Review 14:I expected to be given the room I paid for had a poor nights sleep because of generator coolers.I was very ill and there to recuperate having to move rooms the following day I ended up in bed for the afternoon because it drained me and wasted a full day. No apology from reception only if you asked we would have moved for you. Restaurant staff were very nice
Review 15:Scenery was incredible
Review 16:I felt that the service in the lounger/bar was not very good and also the service in the restaurant was not good either. Drinks in the bar were very expensive, too expensive actually & as the hotel is located in a unique location, there really is no option but to pay the asking price but this hotel is not cheap for food or drinkl bought outside any packages or deals.
Review 17:The comfort of the room. The deluxe room was very spacious and comfortable. The leisure centre & spa was very well laid out and the outdoor hottub was gorgeouse a real treat.
Review 18:location and setting. you dont have to leave this resort, everything on site. walks spa food very comfortable lounges and sitting rooms open fires music at night complete package short distnce to sneem and half hour drive to kennmare if need to get away for few hours
Review 19:Overcharged and hopefully a mistake
Review 20:.Plenty of leisurely walks in beautiful settings and surroundings. Very good SPA facilities with outdoor hot tubs.Excellent rooms for reading and relaxing
Review 21:So many children...everywhere, felt like it was hard to escape. This seems like a great place for families, but I do not recommend going if you're looking for a quiet romantic spot. At least don't go when schools are out! Ate dinner and breakfast in the dining room, slow but friendly service both times - decent but not great food.
Review 22:The staff were friendly, room was comfortable. The grounds are gorgeous, lots of walking trails and places to sit and have a coffee while looking at the ocean. Very cool location and the old part of the hotel is gorgeous.
Review 23:The rooms were a little dated. There was no wifi in the bedroom and no mini-bar!
Review 24:The grounds were beautiful and setting magical. The staff were fantastic. Friendly and helpful. Always smiling.
Review 25:The bed was disappointing - the mattress sagged in the middle and was uncomfortable.
Review 26:Stunning location. Superb walks around the property. Outstanding spa centre. Historical property in good condition. Easy car parking.
Review 27:Only downside was very poor broadband signal- at least on our part of the hotel - East Wing.
Review 28:Excellent location and services. Staff helpful and very pleasant. View from restaurant spectacular.
Review 29:You could detect little reasons why the hotel is not 5 stars, mainly repair issues such a slightly worn carpets and blackened caulking at one end of the bath. The staff could have been a little more helpful with planning local activities. They agreed to look into things for us, but the communication was mediocre.
Review 30:I love the resort feel of this hotel - like you could stay there the whole time and not travel anywhere. The pool and spa facilities were gorgeous and warm (although caution that the pool is closed to children after 5:30 p.m.), and the bay views are spectacular. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 31:Our room was not up to 4 star standard. The 1990's décor did not match the price charged. It was located between two firedoors that banged all night . I asked staff for cycle route suggestions (as advised in the guest book) and received a vacant response. The Kenmare Sneem road is extremely dangerous to cycle on.
Review 32:Location is great. Lots to do and see around the area.
Review 33:I feel courtesy bus should be available to go to Sneem. Decor in corridor to rooms needs attention.
Review 34:The walks around the property were lovely, the setting is beautiful very peaceful
Review 35:Holiday chalets let out in high season brought teams of children into the hotel - including two who were sat at the small bar with parents......leaving a mess of broken potato crisps behind them. (This was directly the parents at fault - but indirectly the hotel should now allow this if they wish to maintain the high standard that they charge for). A quiet drink in the bar before dinner was not possible. A short stay to experience Parknasilla did not impress because of this.
Review 36:Grounds. The dinner in the restaurant was excellent.
Review 37:We were extremely disappointed at the number of noisy, out of control children who dominated the downstairs bar and lounge area and also were to be found in the residents lounge even though they might well have been residents. The noise was dreadful and there was nowhere to sit at all for our evening pre dinner drinks. We were forced to buy a bottle of wine and drink it in the bedroom. The children should not have been allowed in a bar area in a hotel of this calibre. Ruined our stay for the 2 nights.
Review 38:Good location and excellent food. Comfortable room.
Review 39:could do with more investment, bedrooms need renovation, also bathing huts destroyed in the storm need to be rebuilt
Review 40:Unique costal location, has to be seen to be believed
Review 41:Nothing
Review 42:Had 6 year old grandaughter with us and she loved the fairy trail and her bed! She especially loved the pancake maker at breakfast. Very relaxing even with an energetic little girl.
Review 43:Arrived at 15.50 and room not ready, was asked to return to reception within 10 min. when we returned receptionist didn,t recognise us.
Review 44:Beautiful landscape around the hotel. Leisure centre was excellent. Bed was extremely comfortable.
Review 45:The rooms are starting to look a bit tired and could do with updating.
Review 46:Loved the available walking trails all around the hotel. Dinner in the restaurant was superb!
Review 47:Couldn't find a switch to turn off a small light in corner of room, left one window open for fresh air when went for dinner, room filled with thousands of flies on our return! Bed not the most comfortable. Finish in bathroom not up to scratch compared to rest of building, but all in all a lovely place.
Review 48:Fantastic, scenic location, beautiful building, very helpful staff.
Review 49:there our onsite apartments which are used by families . who come down to the hotel lounge in the evenings , the children some very young , seem to be allowed to run around the lounge and surrounding area ,on-supervised by both staff and parents until late at night
Review 50:the staff and the location where excellent, however the view from our room was restricted due to overgrown trees .
Review 51:The first evening having arrived a little late for dinner the starter course and desert were well overcooked. Also we felt a little ill at ease due to the brisk but unfriendly attitude of a lady in charge. However having registered our dissatisfaction with her, things rapidly improved and by day 2 everything was as it should be.
Review 52:The fabulous grounds and the help yourself buffet breakfast
Review 53:Rooms are a bit overpriced for what they are , the wifi was really slow - the golf course needs a lot of work to make it enjoyable
Review 54:Staff were excellent , food was fantastic and a great setting . The trails around the hotel were very interesting too
Review 55:TV on way into the spa conveys the wrong feeling and there are signs of wear and tear in the spa. Shower hooks in mens are loose, light in toilet at poolside not working, shampoo bottles missing in showers and most seriously a loose plank near the jacuzzi which reveals a screw.
Review 56:Bar food took a long time to arrive and was over cooked when eventually came. Charged for towels in Leisure Centre which we thought was quite petty. Very small changing area in Leisure Centre.
Review 57:Thought the scenery was fantastic.
Review 58:Cooked Breakfast was disappointing. Main part of Hotel needs a lot of refurbishment.
Review 59:Beautiful location...newly decorated rooms are fab. First ever additional gluten free buffet at breakfast I've ever seen.
Review 60:Staff need to control children in the dining room, especially after 8pm. Bedrooms looking tired and dated.
Review 61:Excellent food presented well. Good wine list. Fantastic views.
Review 62:The room was very disappointing, we requested a room on an upper floor and received a room on the ground floor. Looking out on a road and ugly wall / ditch. The room looked to have been recently refurbished but to not a very high standard. The wall paper had bubbles in it there was a section of the room finished in poor quality wood flooring. The Bathroom was clean but requires modernisation. There were constantly hoovers or mop buckets let in the hallway. There was also a lot of noise from the room above us.
Review 63:Location and grounds were beautiful and the staff were friendly
Review 64:The stated early check out of 10am which put us under pressure. We did however decide to ignore it and checked out at the more normal 12 which was'nt a problem
Review 65:Lodges,swimming pool and walks
Review 66:alot of spa areas closed or not working, not good enough when you are led to believe all the areas are functioning. The spa needs some re-decoration
Review 67:the room The view The area
Review 68:Nothing. Even the weather couldn't spoil our stay though it tried!!
Review 69:I really was amazed at this hotel. I had high expectations but when I booked it at short notice after 4 nights in nearby b&bs I felt the whole package was so much better value. We had a beautiful room overlooking the sea. It was huge with a lovely sea/cove view. We used the swimming pool ( big enough for lengths) and spa. The outdoor jacuzzi was just perfect after 18 holes in their challaging but well maintained golf course. The views everywhere were spectacular. The only downside of the experience was that we really needed another few days. I will be back.
Review 70:I brought my parents to Sneem for a one night break, during a return visit home for me. Had heard of the hotel by reputation; we weren't disappointed! A grand hotel, but not at all pretentious. There were lots of children there the night we stayed, but as it was during the holidays, this was to be expected. They certainly seemed to be having a ball! The staff (and views!) truly make the hotel what it is. We were met on arrival by a porter whose father had also worked in the hotel, a real rarity in any hotel nowadays. He recommended things to see and do in the area, his advice was spot on! All the staff were just so welcoming and down to earth. Beautiful area, lovely walks in the gardens, great food. Will hopefully be back!
Review 71:my only criticism and i hate to make one , was that the bar menu was a little pricey.
Review 72:The hotel was beautiful. they preserved its history so well. Staff were lovely and the dinner was divine. my husband is a vegetarian and gets weary of the one veggie option.! He had a whole vegetarian menu with eight items to choose from.! The grounds are lovely and the walks fabulous with breathtaking views.
Review 73:Bathroom in the room could do with an update and the wifi could be stronger but they're small details! Mostly an amazing place!
Review 74:Attentive staff, beautiful surroundings and walks on the hotel grounds. The weather was also gorgeous which added to the whole wekeend! Lovely relaxing environment! Great thermal suite!
Review 75:Dinner in restaurant could be better. Would consider dining elsewhere next time I visit.
Review 76:Location is paradise. Bedroom spacious & well presented and maintained. Spa & Leisure facility excellent
Review 77:The Spa stated over 16's only, however on 2 occasions during our stay there were young children in the spa area that were noisy and ruined the experience. When meantioned to staff nothing was done to remove them.
Review 78:The grounds and views are stunning, truly beautiful and a great place to walk around and take in some amazing scenery
Review 79:Hotel feels dated and old fashioned. Would have been lovely 20 years ago. Food was average.
Review 80:Great location - beautiful views over the coast. Log fire in the bar was lovely.
Review 81:Everything about this resort is great from the staff to the food to the porter and all the local folk in Sneem which is the most beautiful part of Kerry
Review 82:Everything about Parknasilla is top class, from the staff to the food. It's location is truly magical and it takes you away from the stresses of everyday life. The Spa with its views across the lakes is breathtaking. Highlight of our stay was most definitely breakfast, quality and selection of food were 5 star
Review 83:Bar/Restaurant is very poorly set out. Many diners struggled to get comfortable, often changing tables a number of times. Could also have been warmer
Review 84:Rooms could do with some updating Bathroom very small
Review 85:Outdoor hot tub Breakfast was superb Lovely walks A nice golf course albeit a bit soggy underfoot but well worth €15
Review 86:Upon arriving at our Lodge there was dog poo right on our door step which was not very nice to see. Also over the course of our stay there was an Alsatian dog wandering around the grounds without a lead or a mussel. Was very surprised that it was permitted for him to stay in the lodges.
Review 87:We had a fantastic mini break and have been 3 times before. We will certainly be back.
Review 88:Next time we will definitely ask for room with a view !!
Review 89:Parknasilla Resort was excellent quiet and peaceful we had an amazing one night stay too bad we could not spend longer next time we definitely will keep up the good work everyone !!
Review 90:I thought the place was very shabby in parts. Railing down to leisure area , unstable and unkept. Walkway and trail to pier, unsightly in parts and ground dangerous. Staff uniforms untidy, particularly the dining room front of house lady!! Waistcoats and Blouses too small and untidy. The most disappointing was our room!!! very very old fashioned 339. No dressing gowns in our room! no Iron!
Review 91:I love the old charm that Parknasilla holds. Lots of lovely Staff and a great international balance!! Food ...Excellent!
Review 92:Saying goodbye to such an outstanding resort
Review 93:We had an amazing suite with a view over the hotel grounds and the water, breathtaking. Lovely comfortable bed, very friendly staff, took advantage of the spa that was a delight. The restaurant and lounge staff were outstanding, you felt so well looked after. Incredible breathtaking scenery to be enjoyed. We stayed an extra night and could have stayed oh so much longer. Special mention to the Porter who carried two incredibly heavy suitcases for us with a genuine happy demeanour
Review 94:Having to leave!
Review 95:Everything about this remarkable location makes you want to extend your stay. The staff are ALL excellent and one is made to feel special by them all. Thanks so much for such a lovely treat of a stay. We'll be back!
Review 96:The room 203 was a disaster. Lighting very poor couldent read in bed. No safe in room. The hairdryer was in the drawer. The bathroom was disgusting the floor was so uneven and the floor boards so noisy overhead as well it was impossible to sleep. the carpet dirty and needs replacing. Electric plugs were round pins (health and safety issue). No robes in room for a spa hotel this surely is standard issue. No extra pillows or blankets in room. The food and drinks were very overpriced.
Review 97:The scenery and surrounding countryside. The staff were very friendly and efficient . Breakfast was excellent and the dining room has some spectacular views and a very nice feel to it. The leisure center was very relaxing , clean and enjoyable.
Review 98:Nothing!
Review 99:Was very impressed with the 2 bedroom lodge. Decent sized bedrooms with on-suites, downstairs toilet and nice size open plan living area everything you could need is provided. Very comfortable home away from home.
Review 100:There was no place for us to park our car at the lodge, we had to go out of our way to find some place to leave the car as the spaces were always full. They do need to make a few more parking spaces. Apart from that it was lovely.
Review 101:We stayed in one of the Lodges which was absolutely spotless. The beds were so comfortable and the area was so peaceful.
Review 102:Pool little small and busy
Review 103:Staff v nice General atmosphere quiet casual but yet has good 5 star standards all round Dinner excellent Thermal suites good Nice walks by the water and tho woods
Review 104:Felt the place was tired. And not up to 4 star level at present. Spa was very tired and needed cleaning. Equipment not working and floor area very dirty. Sort these and would bring up standards
Review 105:Staff very friendly. Brilliant area.
Review 106:Having the bathroom 'open plan' with the bedroom- lack of privacy unsupervised children in the bar after 9pm
Review 107:The spa, the pool comfortable beds Friendly staff the extensive grounds the lovely terrace being near the sea The art works
Review 108:Unable to lock rooms from inside ,, they said it was a faulty lock! Expensive seafood dinner was very very overlooked ,, monkfish like rubber and scallops like marbles
Review 109:Location Interconnecting big rooms Helpful staff
Review 110:I loved the views, suberb pool and spa and the (adult)kids loved jumping into the sea from the private pier, it's a very beautiful and special place.
Review 111:Breakfast was very poor in quality particularly the irish breakfast. Dinner was bad poor relative value.
Review 112:Location and setting beautiful tranquil and great walks very relaxing. Also the lady playing piano was excellent and just to sit and listen.
Review 113:Absence of lift. We were in the furthermost room in the hotel and had to bring our belongings up several flights of stairs. The porter did help but it was very inconvenient. We think we should have been warned that there would not be a lift.
Review 114:beautiful location Very well trained staff Absence of television in public areas Excellent food
Review 115:Bar area looking tired and not enough seating. We often found it full in the evenings when we fancied stopping for a drink before bed
Review 116:Location, views, pool and spa, walks
Review 117:The price and the fact that we did not spend enough time in parknasilla - we were attending a wedding at a nearby hotel, one night was not enough. ( mind you at the price we would not have been able to afford a second!)
Review 118:The location and the super quiet room.
Review 119:I wasn't very happy with the food I thought it should have been much better .my salmon was burnt one evening.
Review 120:I loved the area.the walks, the spa was fantastic
Review 121:I felt that management were inflexible on the issue of a lost privilege card discount of 50 euro. Given that we spent 1400 in the hotel on this visit, it astounded us Computers were blamed. Also there was a 6 euro handling charge for posting on a phone charger to an Irish address. All in all it appears a bit mean spirited. Lovely hotel, but after staying there 6 times in three years, beginning to reassess whether we wish to give our custom again.
Review 122:The setting and sea views are amazing. Food is great. Bar and dining and portering staff pleasant and professional.
Review 123:The spa area was a little tired and the sauna was not working.
Review 124:The open fires, the welcoming staff, the food
Review 125:nothing
Review 126:I loved the whole experience and would return again to this beautiful facility.
Review 127:bedside lamps too poor to read by!! Usual most hotels but getting increasingly annoying!
Review 128:excellent spa facilities. genuinely friendly staff
Review 129:The location, weather & facilities. The easy atmosphere.
Review 130:Hotel can do with a more modern touch e.g. decor
Review 131:Bathroom in room a bit dated, needs upgrading
Review 132:The setting is stunning, with fantastic walks on the grounds
Review 133:Wholemeal pancakes were very small and a bit greasy.
Review 134:Beautiful walks and we'll maintained grounds. Spa was lovely and clean.
Review 135:The Location at the water with the mountains was gorgeous.
