Reviews for Connemara Lake Hotel
Review 1:There isnt really anything but if there was one way they could improve it would be if they upgraded their carpet on the stairs. There is a lot of wear and tear. It wouldnt put me off staying again but would make a huge difference.
Review 2:Second time staying in this Hotel. Staff were very friendly. Food was really good. Lovely big fire in bar.
Review 3:The corridors (the first impression before getting to the room) were shabby. Carpets could do with a cleaning. After a cozy bright and clean impression downstairs in reception it was disappointing to traverse the corridors. The room itself was a little bare and needs a "Francis Brennan" sparkle.
Review 4:Location. Friendly staff.
Review 5:The carpet on the stairs leading to the bedrooms was extremely dirty. The ensuite was freezing but was nicely decorated but could have done with a shelf for your wash bag
Review 6:Very friendly staff - Breakfast was lovely & a good selection
Review 7:Cleanliness excellent - everywhere. Bathroom brand new, spacious, faultless, great shower. We sat near a wood fire in a beautifully decorated Christmas winter wonderland, with a view of the street outside, having a truly superb fish chowder soup. The interior layout and décor of the public areas are pleasing and relaxing. Service was friendly and welcoming. Warm apple tart with ice cream and coffee were really good and breakfast was up there with the best for choice and quality of food. We met local people in the hotel who were friendly. Hotel right on the main street of the town, ideally located for walking, touring and gateway to the beauty of Connemara.
Review 8:Apart from its excellent location the hotel was welcoming, the food excellent and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Perfect centre for a touring and/or fishing holiday. This will be my choice next time.
Review 9:The family room that we stayed in was rather basic in comparison to some of the other rooms and didnt have a window blind in the bathroom (!)
Review 10:Friendly staff, comfortable room, nice pub downstairs and in a nice town
Review 11:Nothing really, it was a pleasant experience. The only thing I would say is that tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been great, along with a hairdryer!
Review 12:Lovely staff, comfortable bed, nice breakfast
Review 13:Parking - A café around the corner has parking €5/day (and steak & a pint for €15!!) Family run? Give the young man who checked us in a shot of espresso. No bedside lamp for 2nd bed. 2 beds = 2 readers. Mattress - mine was fine but fellow guest was bruised from hers. Window - very high up so less agile would have trouble closing. Generator noise - would have preferred a loud nightclub bassbeat as it would have stopped about 3am. No bathroom hooks - had to use the floor. Fed all this back to staff on check-out and was duly noted. Told that renovation "in progress". Management needs to road test all their rooms to discover the glitches.
Review 14:Excellent location in the centre of Oughterard. Lovely breakfast staff. Excellent service! Many thanks for the very early tea. Breakfast was lovely - loads of cold plates, fruit, cereal, juices, yoghurt etc. Eggs benedict (I know!!) were great. Full marks. Had a very good macchiato from the bar (again from the early-morning tea procurer).
Review 15:No tea/coffee facilities in the room. No hairdryer in room (instructions in book to get one from reception) but no phone in room to call reception
Review 16:The bed was really comfortable and the room was decorated very nicely. The breakfast was great.
Review 17:Firstly, the room had no TV even though the connections were evident on the wall. This is fairly basic. I was not advised that this was the case. Secondly, the bedrooms are spread over a number of floors with very narrow corridors. As a first time visitor to the hotel I did not know its layout. I found myself somewhat lost.It would have been helpful and courteous if a staff member brought me to my room having checked in. Thirdly, the carpets on the corridors are badly stained and worn. This gives a bad impression of standards in the Hotel. An impression that is not justified.
Review 18:Apart from the comments on my dislikes the hotel was comfortable and the catering staff were very friendly.
Review 19:The bedroom wasn't comfortable there are not bedsides tables. The bathroom hadn't a heating. No parking It's far away to the lake walking .
Review 20:the meals
Review 21:I was disappointed that there was no tv in the room that we were booked into and also there was no tea or coffee in the room. There were no lifts up to the rooms
Review 22:The staff were very helpful. The food was very good.
Review 23:the bed was not very comfortable ,the one thing that struck me straight off was the stained carpet on the stairs and landings. i would not have carpet like that in my home so i really dont want to see stained carpet in the hotel im staying in,just not right, sorry.
Review 24:the coziness of the bar and friendly staff
Review 25:Tea/Coffee/Kettle in the bedroom would have been great.
Review 26:Friendly staff, excellent fish pie and great location for touring Connemara. Very reasonably priced.
Review 27:Room was drab, corridors and room cold, Decor dull. Manager came out on street and shouted "Did you pay"???? totally unprofessionable
Review 28:Breakfast
Review 29:No tea and coffee facilities, no hairdryer (didn't say there would be to be fair, but why - seems easy!) The room was frozen and took ages to warm up and the room was through 6 doors and winding corridors which were impossibly cold too. Girl who checked us in didn't seem to have taken the course in smiling or welcoming, but was efficient at least.
Review 30:Great location, nice bed, reasonable breakfast, wifi worked
Review 31:I love this hotel - it's excellent location is enhanced by the warmth of the welcome, the cosy atmosphere, the kindness of the staff and the truly amazing food!
Review 32:I liked the freindleness of the staff and the earth of the hotel and the lovely comfortable beds and very clean rooms and the lovely warm bar and excellent food will definatly be back and would highly recommend it to any body who is going to Connemara to drop it in and enjoy a nice warm welcome and a few nights in a lovely hotel.
Review 33:Has recently been renovated and so had no wifi or television in room but staff member said that these would organised soon in the future.
Review 34:Decor, nice modern furnishings, excellent heating system, clean, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 35:All minor things but may help make the place even better 1)No tv in the rooms. I think if I was travelling by myself or on business I'd like to have a tv rather then going to bar. 2) No hairdryer in room, had to get one from reception which was a bit of a pain 3) No tea/coffee facilities in room
Review 36:1)The most comfortable bed I have slept on in a long time 2) Excellent breakfast 3) Well decorated & clean rooms 4) Lovely shower gels etc ( something I normally wouldn't think twice about but the hotel had some really nice stuff ;) )
Review 37:well we made allowances for anything, because the Hotel was not finished, but we will be back. Thank you, Monica O' Brien.
Review 38:All the Staff were so helpful so helpful. There was myself my husband my Mother sister and her Husband.. We had the perfect time. Even without the bar and Restaurant. The breakfast was brill.
Review 39:I discovered that there was no television or tea-making facilities in the room. That was a bit disappointing. Also, the bar and restaurant were not open in the evenings, and I found this to be a bit of an inconvenience. I wasn't made aware of this when booking the hotel for my holiday. There were no computers for internet access in the lounge area, although there was wi-fi provided.
Review 40:I found the room bright, clean and tidy. It seemed to be a peaceful and quiet hotel. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was quite good.
Review 41:Ideal location to see the sights of Connemara. Hotel was awesome and the staff very friendly. They even took the time to advise different routes to take (being the most scenic) on day trips. We spent two night's but would definitely stay longer at this hotel of we had the time. Lovely building being restored to its former glory. Breakfast was excellent with the staff catering to our needs without a fuss and especially with a 1.5 and 3 year old.
Review 42:No television or hairdryer in room. Lock on room not working properly. No comfortable chair to relax in in bedroom or down stairs.
Review 43:Bed comfortable. Food good. Overall quite clean.Staff friendly. I realise that ye are only opened a week but think that at least the credit card machine should have been installed.
Review 44:The new owners had only opened a week and so there were just a couple of very slight teething problems which were swiftly rectified. A TV/Hairdryer in the rooms would be an advantage.
Review 45:The location. Lots of bars & restaurants in walking distance, but away from the hussle & bussle of Galway town centre. The surrounding areas are beautiful. The staff were wonderful, very polite & helpful and the breakfast was second to none.
Review 46:no tea in room, no tv in room, the furniture in room dos not go with hotel and needs to be replaced, bar and dinning needs to be opened, what i did not like about the parking in front of the hotel was that any car off the street could park there the parking bay should be reserved for hotel guests only,
Review 47:staff are very nece and good, breakfast is very good, rooms a very good size, liked car parking at front of hotel but needs to be reserved for hotel guests,
Review 48:lovely, cosy place
