Reviews for Corrib Wave Guesthouse

Review 1:It was rather remote for my taste. Since I didn't have a car, I would have preferred to stay somewhere within an easy walk of shops, pubs and bus stop. It was a 10€ ride from Oughterhard after dinner at night. BUT, the staff was very generous with a ride to the bus stop during the daytime!

Review 2:Great breakfast, beautiful view, really helpful staff.

Review 3:Rooms are rather dated but we expected that and for the price we didn't expect top luxury. No evening meals on site.

Review 4:Had a great view of the lake. Maria and Michael very helpful. Good breakfast. Very laid back and easy-going.

Review 5:Very hard to find, walls were very thin and we were placed next to a baby, shower was tiny, water was from a "natural source" and came out of the tap yellow.

Review 6:Gorgeous view, good breakfast, good WiFi connection.

Review 7:We felt our hosts were polite but... reserved, and not as friendly as other Irish B&B owners we had met. In a remote location, so a little hard to find the B&B in the dark, and a car would be required. Decor is dated, the shower room was very small with a very noisy fan.

Review 8:Marie kindly waited up for our late arrival (11.00pm) and had another group arriving even later than us. The B&B is in a peaceful location. Our room was on the ground floor (as requested) with a distant view of the lake, the mountains, and the grazing sheep. The house is very quaint with an interesting clutter of antiques and family mementos, the decor dated but clean, rather like a trip to grandmother's house. Our room was comfortable. The tap water is not drinkable, but drinking water is provided in the main hall. Breakfast was good, with decent coffee, and parking is available.

Review 9:noise from upstairs. Few screws in the floor boards ?

Review 10:Relaxing and comfortable with lake side views. We were offered a lift in to town as we were on a motorbike and wanted a couple of pints of the black stuff.

Review 11:Friendly helpful owners. Michael's sheepdog demo. Perfect spot to explore the magnificent Connemara. Close to the village, and a fisherman's paradise.

Review 12:It's somehow dark inside the house and there were too many small decoration that reduce the beauty of the whole house. I myself prefer: less is more.

Review 13:Top location with beautiful corrib lake view.

Review 14:The location is beautiful. The people who run the guest house were so friendly. The food is delicious. The experience was better than our expectations.

Review 15:Close by to amenities and a fabulous place to go and relax and get away from it all. Cant beat the serenity of de location and more friendly owners u could not meet.

Review 16:The shower was awkward to use so we made do with a strip wash.

Review 17:Beautiful location, comfortable ground floor room and perfect peace. This was a last minute booking and it was a delightful stop. Anyone interested in fishing would be extremely happy.

Review 18:The Corrib Wave House is brilliant! It is located directly at the lake you can rent a boat with motor and explore the lake a bit or just a bit of paddling action after a long drive. We got tea just after arrival and the breakfast is good as well! All good as always and I'll come back!

Review 19:I felt it was a bit far off the road, I have to say the sinage was good. Also road was narrow. There was no tea or coffee facilities in the room. A person who would have a mobility, I felt the bath was too high and the shower over the bath wasn't great. I felt the bathroom could do with being updated and bedroom modernised.

Review 20:I liked the peaceful athomsphere and the hospitatily which we recieved, very good breakfast. The scenery was beautiful surrounding the Guesthouse. It was very relaxing and good value for what was on offer.

Review 21:Breakfast was good, but not as good as other places we stayed. Place was a bit old, but the views made up for it!

Review 22:Great location, beautiful views. Super friendly hosts.

Review 23:Rooms smelled badly, linen was dirty, all was dusty and outdated, plastic flowers everywhere, non drinkable water. We don't understand why this hotel was rated so highly.

Review 26:Ease of access to Knock Airport. Location. Rural yet quick access to shops, pubs, health facilities and places of interest. Parking. Breakfasts excellent and consistent. Friendly staff.

Review 27:Terrible shower, water trickled out. Could not drink water from tap, had to go down and get a pitcher of water. About a 10 minute drive from restaurant, although I think you can request dinner there.

Review 67:The owners were friendly and very helpful.

Review 68:nowt

Review 69:beautiful location right on the lake, nice comfortable bed, lovely breakfast, Nice owners

Review 70:Beautiful grounds and one of the lovely places in Ireland.

Review 71:The whole house smelled like a mechanic's garage and mold. Woke up with a nasty asthma attack because of whatever was in the air. Found countless moths in the room and in the towels. Never a good sign when you grab a new towel and a moth flies out. The towels were ratty and old, and the flooring was very uneven most likely from water damage. All of the furniture was dated, and the carpets were very worn. The living room was hazy from the peat fire and it was hard to breath in the room so we could not make use of it. Although the description says each room has a phone ours was stated as "for emergencies only, must use phone at front desk for calls out." Also was confused that they provided 2 drinking glasses in the bathroom, but also a had a sign saying don't drink the water. Why provide glasses if you can't drink anything? I was very disappointed in the room especially the awful smells.

Review 72:The location is absolutely beautiful and the hosts were friendly enough.

Review 73:The Hosts Maria & Michael were very courteous and the gouse is maintained very well. The location is excellent. Wonderful place to spend your vaccations !

Review 74:This was an amazing place to stay the view from the rooms across the lake to the mountains was fabulous with the sunset over the mountains. Owners very friendly and to see the sheep in the meadow each day was great.Definitely worth going to.

Review 75:No negatives, Although, I should have recorded Michael's wit and the house recipe book.

Review 76:Our hosts were warm and friendly and made a great effort to make our visit comfortable and easy. The food was wonderful and they quietly attended to all of our large or small requests. I'm sure the other regular visitors would like me to be quiet so they can save this gem for themselves.

Review 77:Rooms were a little cold on the first night, but other than that we couldn't fault it during our stay.

Review 78:We stayed at Corrib Wave during a local sporting event (Rás Connemara). We were made feel very welcome, and treated with great hospitality. Beds were comfortable, and breakfast was spot on, we even had access to a garage to store our bikes in during our stay. The view across the lake was spectacular!
