Reviews for Hermes
Review 1:Hard mattress, no shampoo in bathroom..
Review 2:Very good hotel with small private parking. Simple but nice rooms, with all basic facilities you need to have a nice stay in IOS. Excellent location, just 5 minutes walk from the village.Fantastic view, all rooms with seaview and poolview.Good breakfast, not included in price.Nice staff. We had the room till 3 p.m on departure day without extra cost, our boat departure was at 5 p.m.Free transfer from port and back to port with hotel's minibus.
Review 3:We booked a quadruple room (one would assume this meant four single beds or two double beds) at this hotel, however upon arrival were shown to a six single bed dorm room which had a strong toilet smell and looked a lot like a hostel. There was an open drain under the fridge which is where we assume the smell was coming from and cleaning supplies with a bucket of dirty water directly outside our bedroom door for the first day.We complained to the hotel owner's mother (as the owner was out for the day) and after trekking up and down the very long path to reception from our room multiple times and spending a number of hours waiting for the owner of the hotel to arrive we were told the hotel was full and we could only stay at their hostel for the evening (hostel was nicer than this hotel, it was also in a better location and the best we could receive was half of our money back for the cost of the hotel room for the first night). Some staff made us feel very unwelcome and we were made to feel like we were in the wrong for asking why the room and facilities were not what was advertised. Matresses on the beds were also so worn through that they were almost on the floor. You fell into them when you sat down.We were moved back to the hotel the next morning and had no hot water in the room, and electricity to the bedroom did not work. This could not be fixed until the owner got back well after dark.We have been staying in hostels our whole trip and booked this hotel based on the photos and reviews on Bookings.com as our 'luxury' treat hotel at the end of our trip. In the long run we would have been better off staying in a hostel for comfort and friendliness.50 euros was also deducted from our account a few days before our arrival to 'check our credit card worked'. Then when we checked in the full two nights were deducted from the card as well. When we queried why 50 euros had been deducted we were told this would be refunded ASAP.
Review 4:Pool and bar area was nice and had wifi unlike our room.
Review 5:NOTHING!
Review 6:This hotel is amazing. Incredible view with an insane pool, great location short walk to the main town, friendly staff that are extremely helpful and picked us up and dropped us off to the port. Our room had a gorgeous ocean and pool view, we slept with our balcony doors wide open letting the ocean breeze in. Free wifi.
Review 7:Internet didn't work in room but outside and pool area was good
Review 8:Fantastic stay! Super friendly staff! Very clean and comfortable. Incredible view! Beautiful pool area great little bar! In the middle of the town and beach perfect stay!!
Review 9:I wish we had more towels, instead of the two given to each person per day. Also, rooms could have been cleaned a little better.
Review 10:Location was excellent, right between the beach and the town. Staff was very nice and welcoming. Would go back for sure. Perfect for a group of friends.
Review 11:ants and cockroaches on the floor and we had no food in our room. The smell of sewage in my room on the first day made me gag a lot so they finally got a plumber in. Smell improved but still not okay
Review 12:Pool and view
Review 13:I had an amazing stay at Hermes however the staff were absolutely disgraceful. Being an Australian myself I expected the staff to be very friendly and helpful as this what all Australians are like where I have been travelling. I spoke with one girl who said she had been coming back to work at Hermes for 4 summers in a row, however she was by far the rudest staff member there and acted as if she could not be bothered to look after the guests, it seemed like an effort for her to help. Every time any of my friends went up to the bar to order they would very obviously ignor you until you had try and get their attention. I thought it might of been a one off, however after staying there for 5 days it was clearly just their attitude. I have been to many hostels and hotels over my months in Europe and no matter how hungover or tired a staff member is they always seemed to be happy to help. All the Australian staff were an embarrassment to say the least. The owners of Hermes were extreamly helpful however I was very taken back by how rude the Australian staff were to myself and all my friends the entire length of our stay.
Review 14:The location was beautiful, but you had to walk 10 minutes either way to get into town or to the beach. I loved the location because of this and there was a bus stop right out the front!
Review 15:Upon arriving at Hermes "party hostel??" we were under the impression that we were in fact able to party there. This impression was established by the tshirts that branded the slogan "when nights turn into mornings" this was a flat out lie. We were forced out of the hostel by 11pm and prior to this time had to be unecessarily quiet. For the price of 50 euros a night this is not the sort of treatment I would expect. The family that lived adjacent to the hostel who in fact owned this supposed "party hostel" were extremely abusive. One particular occasion was at the reasonable hour of 11am we were out on our balcony chatting and having a few beers when a very aggressive old lady came down giving it the biggen. Unacceptable and outright gronkish. I most certainly will not be staying at Hermes again nor will I recommend it to anyone.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:unless your 19 and want thumping pool side music don't bother in high season.
Review 18:Great location between beach and town. Helpful staff. Transfer to ferry. Amazing views
Review 19:Best view in all of Ios. Perfectly located in between main town and Mylopotas beach. Walking distance to all clubs/restaurants/beach. Clean, spacious rooms with amazing ocean view from the private balcony. Best wifi we had while travelling. There is also a bus stop right out the front of the hotel that comes every 15 minutes. Niko the owner is so friendly and makes you feel at home straight away. Awesome pool parties every week. We will definitely be returning.
Review 20:We've been staying at Hermes since 1998 and have always enjoyed a nice relaxing stay usually before the island goes mad with partygoers for the high summer. Unfortunately Hermes has partnered up with a beach/pool party outfit and it now packed with youngsters (under 30s!) and invaded daily by others who are staying elsewhere - bye bye relaxing by the pool. Such a shame.
Review 21:Been staying here for years. Great location between village and beach, nice pool, simple rooms with great views. Friendly, family-run hotel.
Review 22:The clubbing music around the pool area which wasn't mention on their site information, thus not at all relaxing.
Review 23:Good location. Very clean and helpful staff
Review 24:If you are under the bar/eatery, it could be noisy in the mornings.
Review 25:Very welcoming even if early in the season. The rooms are basic but sufficient and the pool area a delight with wonderful views.
Review 26:The staff at Hermes were the most welcoming and funny people we had met while travelling. They recommended the best places to see in Ios- clubs, beaches, restaurants- and made our trip so memorable. My friend and I would recommend this hotel to anyone even in the off season- we had the best time :)
Review 27:When I checked out the bathroom shower and toilet I found a screwed up wet towel on the floor. I got the impression that the apartment hadn't been cleaned prior to my arrival. There are no facilities to prepare any food OR drink at Hermes. Seeing as breakfast is optional I think facilities should be made available. I asked to borrow a kettle to make a hot coffee to relax with after a busy day's travelling. At no stage was one offered following two requests. Thankfully, there was a large refrigerator in which to store chilled drinks. One of the receptionists was unsociable and inattentive on approach. Nick also ignored me on at least two occasions when I passed him by. I would like to see a little more friendliness at Hermes.
Review 28:Firstly, the pick up and return to the ferry port by Nick was very helpful, plus he carries your luggage at all times. The location is within easy walking distance of both Mylopotas beach and Chora centre. The view from the hotel is superb, especially from the swimming pool, which has a relaxing ambiance. My apartment was compact but comfortable. Towels and linen changed in my three day stay.
Review 29:Was a little cold at night as only had a sheet, could have done with a blanket and maybe one more pillow as it was very thin.
Review 30:Nick was great, he always had a smile on his face and was always willing to help. The location was pretty good, right on top of a dramatic cliff with a wonderful view, about a ten minute walk into town and about a ten or fifteen (steep) walk to the beach. Great value for money. The pool area is lovely and has fab views and good deals on drinks. All the staff were very friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here (perhaps not if you're looking for a romantic trip) when you visit Ios.
Review 31:Beds weren't the best but it is budget accommodation after all.
Review 32:Pool area is fantastic, cheap prices at pool bar cafe. Staff very helpful and accommodating. View is amazing and only a 5 minute walk from town centre.
Review 33:Bit of a hike back up the hill to the hotel, no double beds at the hotel at all - all single beds pushed together
Review 34:Half way between town and the beach, great staff behind the bar there and great vibe around the panoramic pool bar.
Review 35:We really enjoyed our stay at Hermes. We were picked up with a free shuttle from the port, didn't have to organise a thing! The hotel is in a perfect location only a 10 minute walk to the main town and another 10 minute walk to Far Out beach club! Was perfect for us!
Review 36:I didn't like the state of the rooms. For a hotel it's rooms looked much like upgraded hostel rooms. We were provided with fresh towels each day, however our sheets weren't changed.
Review 37:I liked the service me and my group of friends received. A great location as it was not too far from the main square and the main beach. The view from the hotel was amazing.
Review 38:The fact that you had to hold the shower head in order to have a shower.
Review 39:Loved the pool area and bar/cafe and it had an amazing view as well as a new puppy that made it feel like home
Review 40:Rooms do need updating slightly and require some light maintenance. The light on our balcony didn't work and there was no fitting for our shower head to go on the wall. Combined with the size of the shower cubicle it proved to be a a bit of a struggle to keep the water inside the shower and not all over the bathroom.
Review 41:The view was incredible! The hotel was located right on a cliff edge over the bay with an endless view of the sea. Nico the owner is a great asset to the hotel, he will drive you to the town and back whenever you want. He is always jovial and full of energy... Rooms are simple but they all have balconies - with most looking out to the sea. There's also a lovely chilled out pool bar serving cheap breakfast, snacks and drinks.
Review 42:The stairs from the room to the reception.
Review 43:The view, the swimming pool, the location close to the village.
Review 44:Room had a bad smell
Review 45:Good location
Review 46:nothing
Review 47:very nice personel, niko very nice guy! free wifi perfect! perfect view! best hotel on Ios
Review 48:Great people that work there! Awsome pool bar area! Great location
Review 49:Nothing!
Review 50:Nick and the staff! The Pool area, food and drink! Shuttle service to and from port.
Review 51:Too noisy No soap in the shower
Review 52:Nice pool Views are wonderful overlooking the bay
Review 53:Wifi not in room
Review 54:View and location
Review 55:Atmosphere
Review 56:Great people and the location is perfect
Review 57:Everything is amazing, best view and pool on the island.
Review 58:Loved it all and will definitely stay there again
Review 59:Nice Location, Walking distance from Chora
Review 60:Right in the middle of the town and the beach
Review 61:Loved everything about Hermes. Pool is amazing. The staff are great. Highly recommended
Review 62:The staff, the view, the pool, the location. Everything about this place is amazing! Very enjoyable place to stay in Ios
Review 63:Hermes has a great location with an amazing pool looking out over the sea. Nickos was a legend and really friendly.
Review 64:Our favourite place in the Greek Islands! Great location between the beach and town, walking distance to the clubs, fully stocked and cheap bar, tasty and cheap food. Niko the owner treated us like we have been best of friends for years. We will definitely be back to Ios and we will definitely be staying at Hermes again.
Review 65:Just make sure to ask if can't get any hot water in your shower as there is a mains switch that needs to be adjusted by the hotel staff.
Review 66:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Nick, the owner was very hospitable and would do anything to make you feel comfortable. Very good value for money, we got a room overlooking the sea. The location is perfect - in between the shops and the beach. Because it was low season the pool wasn't functioning so I can't comment on that. I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat!!
Review 67:Walking to the hotel from the port with luggage would have been a challenge.
Review 68:The hotel is up a hill and away from the port, but the owner picked us up. Basic room but clean.
Review 69:No safe, even though this was in the description. Shower not too great. Pool and bar were closed.
Review 70:The view is incredible. Good walking distance to the main town and mypolotas beach. Great hospitality. Nick went out of his way to find us at the beach on our last day to let us know our ferry had been cancelled. He drove us down to the port so we could make the earlier one on time.
Review 71:There was no one in reception about 99% of the time. Wifi didn't work in rooms. Needed to use wifi outside locked reception doors & be eaten alive by the only Mosquitos in Greece!
Review 72:The relaxed island. The location between town & Mylopotos Beach...walking distance
Review 73:After 10pm you have to be really quit.Otherwise the staff is coming and tells you to be quit. Which is for a bigger group of people a little bit difficult.
Review 74:the Location was great!Poolarea is really nice.
Review 75:friendly and helpful staff, location is awesome: close to town and beach while overlooking ocean with a pool and bar. Pick up and drop off free from port. Atmosphere was great. Facilities great. Well Recommended
Review 76:- The cleaning off the rooms could be better- Hotel doesn`t accept Mastercard/visa
Review 77:Fantastic view form the room and poolarea. Only 10 minutes walk to thevillage. Good poolarea with nice sunbeds and a good snackbar. Freetransfer from and to the port
Review 78:It is NOT a hotel as stated in booking.com, but just rooms to let. Very expensive (we paid 80€/per night for 5 nights without breakfast for something that worths max. 30€ per night.) Small dirty rooms with single uncomfortable beds, spiders on each corner of the room, squished mosquitos on the walls, the cleaner was changing the towels and was taking out the garbage and nothing more. The receptionist told us that there will be always warm water from 7 am to 12 pm. During my 5day staying, there was no warm water in the morning at 10-11 am when i was usually woken up and needed to take a shower. Not to mention the water availability issues. Very noisy environment late at night and especially early in the morning when furniture were dragged in daily basis. The pool was crowded and there was a sewerage smell lingering around the pool area. One of my worst staying experiences, in such a beautiful island like Ios.
Review 79:The view of the Aegean Sea.
Review 80:Great hotel staff and the location is one of the best on the island, they also have the best coffee on the island ;-)
Review 81:Everything! Amazing pool, lovely rooms, friendliest staff, it was all great!
Review 82:Beds were too short for my 6'4" husband!
Review 83:Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet location, easy walk to beach!
Review 84:Amazing seaside view Super reasonably priced Lovely and helpful owner
Review 85:The view from the swimming pool is amazing.
Review 86:Great location between chora and mylopotas. Amazing view of the sea. Very kind and friendly hosts.
Review 87:Staff was friendly and the view was amazing, better than Santorini, that balcony was incredible!
Review 88:Nickoooo!
