Reviews for Malia Mare Hotel
Review 1:We are a couple traveling around Crete for 2 weeks. What we liked the most in Maliamare is the stuff. They treat you as a friend not as a costumer. That may be because they own the hotel. We enjoyed our conversations with Kostas and Maria. Actually we found them very helpful because they provided us with information about the area no travel guide would include. We also found the hotel to be clean, which is very important to us. The pool area was nice. Not a big Olympic size swimming pool, but a pool to relax and enjoy yourself. We have been to hotels that offered more things for breakfast than a restaurant offers for lunch. Maliamare is not such a place but breakfast was nice and most important it was what was advertised and what we expected it to be. The hotel is in the center of the village close enough to all the venues, but far enough from the noisy places. The bottom line is that we felt very nice been in Maliamare and it is a hotel we would recommend to friends that travel to the area.
Review 2:All the rest. The room was very poor, from the not cooling air-conditioner that throws only air to a clogged sink in the bathroom. Maybe we just received a terrible room.
Review 3:The location.
Review 4:Staff & rooms were excellent (thank you for making our holiday a pleasure). The pool was a requirement for our children & they loved it so much. Also, because the hotel is located in a centre of Malia then it has a lot of good restaurants near by (in old town), just ask stuff for recommendations in which restaurant to go with your family. I'm definitely recommending it for families when planning their holidays.
Review 5:The wifi was not working properly. Therefore i could not check my reservation. I asked to the reception if breakfast was included and they said no. So i skipped the breakfast that I had paid for. Location is also poor
Review 6:when arrived rooms were double booked and having spoken to a few others they had the same issue, so caution
Review 7:Nice location just off the strip so good balance of serenity and action
Review 8:1. Most of the guests are groups of around 18-19 year olds who party ALL night. There is no staff to tell them to stop so they have absolutely no limits, screaming, running around, banging on beds and doors. 2. There are no elevators so you need to carry the baggage up the stairs. 3. Air conditioning was poor.
Review 9:The pool was really nice. The bartender at the pool (Leah) was lovely and the cocktails were great! The staff was usually nice.
Review 10:Malia can be noisy, but this certainly isn't the fault of the hotel. Also, there was no TV in our bedroom. I didn't care, but others might.
Review 11:My wife and I are Canadian, in our mid forties, and stayed here for three nights during the month of August. Malia is mostly full of younger British teenagers who are looking to party, but also has beautiful beaches and ruins that are worth visiting. The location and price of the hotel were good - near to the old town (good for dining), but still just fifteen minutes from the beach. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and polite, and went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. There is also a nice pool and dining bar, which are shut down later in the night so as not to disturb guests and prevent them from sleeping. The family running the hotel are wonderful, and they kept our bags stored free of cost before we departed on our final day, and even allowed us to check out later than the official time. If you want good value and good service, then I recommend choosing this particular hotel to make your stay in Malia.
Review 12:Got to be a bit careful with the noise, security guard doesn't particularly like it but he's a nice enough bloke if you get on the right side of him.
Review 13:Great friendly staff, lovely pool and pool bar, not in the centre of the strip but on the side strip leading down to it so was pretty quiet at night. Hotel was clean, cleaners came every day to clean the room. Definitely one of the best hotels in Malia and if i did go back there i would probably got to this hotel again
Review 14:The breakfast could have been better but we really enjoy the traditional geek yoghurt as well as the fact that we had it in the garden (once again marvellous).
Review 15:Johanna, working at the desk, gave us all the best adresses around the city and closeby. Everyone was very friendly. The rooms are very clean, AC was working perfectly as well as everything else and the garden is wondeful. We didn't get the chance to dip in the pool but it seemed very nice. A big thanks to Yannis, working at night, always available to help you at any time of the night. Also the decoration shop next door is owned by the family (you get a special discount) and has the nicest things! (We fell for some china).
Review 16:Breakfast could be better, far from the beach (~10 min walk), Wi-Fi wasn't at the pool - only at the lobby and in front of the hotel.
Review 17:Great location - about 200 meters from clubs and nightlife - it's pretty close and you aren't disturbed by noise and drunk people when you want to sleep. Nice and big pool, friendly staff. I totally recommend this hotel (especially for young people).
Review 18:Beds rock hard, coffee at breakfast make your own instant.
Review 19:It was close to the edge of an area best described as hell on earth.
Review 20:Breakfast is poor Furnuture is old, our refrigerator was flooding
Review 21:Nice swimming pool
Review 22:Parking is in a poorly signposted area opposite. We had trouble locating it late at night.
Review 23:Clean rooms. Air conditioning works when set to snow mode.
Review 24:no free wi-fi
Review 25:pool, quite environment
Review 26:My bed was very uncomfortable
Review 27:Loved the location of the hotel.
Review 28:the shower not the best small room
Review 29:the stuff let us stay at the hotel after the check out time, nice stuff
Review 30:I can only recommend the hotel; friendly staff, tasty breakfast and good location.
Review 31:Nothing really
Review 32:Location,staff,pool bar,rooms
Review 33:the food in morning not so good
Review 34:Quite noisy at night Breakfast selection was very poor
Review 35:Location, close to all the bars & clubs Cleanliness Nice pool area
Review 36:The wifi could be a bit better
Review 37:Great place to stay in Malia, very nice and helpful people. The hotel and the garden are very clean and well kept.
Review 38:bit of a walk to the beach..but not extreme.
Review 39:Location, staff, pool, affordability.
Review 40:After sunrise in the morning sunshine in the room because there is nothing but a thin curtain. No WIFI, TV in the room (but I know this before).
Review 41:Nice hotel, great and clean pool, big rooms, good beds. The hotel is very central located, friendly staff.
Review 42:A nice clean comfortable hotel. Helpful owners and great pool area. I will be back! October was a great time to visit as it was very quiet and perfect weather.
Review 43:I stayed at the Malia Mare hotel for three nights and enjoyed a comfortable stay. It has a pretty good location - just two minutes from the main road thro' the village and the bus stops, five minutes to the local tourist bars and restaurants and ten minutes to the sea.
Review 44:We are a not so young couple traveling around Crete on our vacation. This a small nice family run hotel located inside the village of Malia. We liked that the hotel is very close to all the venues in the village. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They make you fell that youare part of the family. They provided us information about the places tovisit in the village as well as the places to avoid. That was veryhelpful for us because we did not know much about Malia. The hotel wasexactly what we expected it to be. Not a luxury hotel, but nice cleanrooms. In general we enjoyed our stay at Malia Mare and we wouldrecommend it to other couples that would like to visit Malia.
Review 45:Good location, good value for money, great staff very helpful and friendly went out of their way to help us. We will stay their again if we arrived at Malia.
Review 46:The staff was nice enough, but not very helpful. The facilities were old, bathroom door did not have a lock, so it would be open. The room was next to the street and since it is close to bars and pubs you can hear the loud music until 4 am every night.
Review 47:Town was charming and had a beach nearby
Review 48:Nothing really..
Review 49:Staying at the malia mare was amazing!! we had the best time! We are a big family of 8 people and haven't had a vacation like this in a long time. The Malia Mare was most defiantly the best choice we had... The staff was great, very helpful with everything we needed or any questions we had, really made us feel like home!! The rooms were perfect, the pool was beautiful!! Maria and Costas are the best!! Always directed us to the best beaches, the best local restaurant and really made our trip what it was, I can't thank them enough... I extremely recommend it!!
Review 50:Absolute rip off with bad hygiene, negligent staff and surrounded by a disgusting neighbourhood with drunk people, half naked women, sleazy bars. The beach (far from nice) is about 15 minutes away by walk. Do not choose this place unless you are looking for a totally vulgar environment, a hotel which should be classified as a hostel and no value for the location compared to the rest of Crete.
Review 51:a/c is weak, when we complained we immediatly got another room.
Review 52:fantastic hotel, super friendly staff.excellent gorgous pool. it's not a wild party spot like other places around malia , which is excellent, very chilled ambiance. overall fantastic value.
Review 53:My thoughts on this hotel is, good as a family run hotel, it haseverything that one wants, good services, accomadation very good, swimming pool, snack and bar area very very good, the staff I found mosthelpful, the owners where like family, very helpful, I will stay at thishotel again and recommend it to people I know that are going to Malia,
Review 54:The thing I liked the most is that it is a small family run hotel with very friendly stuff located near all the interesting places at the village of Malia. They make you feel like you are friends with them for ever, and I like that very much. Our room looked at the hotel garden an though it is a small garden it is very well maintained and it makes you fell very relaxed. I also liked the pool area, the service and mostly the fact that the pool is designed not for Olympic class swimmers but for people who would like to relax and have some fun with the water. I would recommend the hotel for all couples who are looking for a friendly, family oriented hotel.
Review 55:not much choice of food in breakfast, small rooms.
Review 56:great atmosphere, great location, very nice pool
Review 57:Great receptionist manos and Maria recommended on some nice places to travel and eat and were very wellcoming
Review 58:A good treatment . good location and at mosphere
