Reviews for Central Hotel
Review 1:The rooftop bar could have more choices of food (snacks, snacks), and the room where I stayed could be a little more spacious - however, nothing that diminished the hotel or had influenced my choice. By the way, the value for money was excellent.
Review 2:Excellent location, just minutes walk from both the Old Town (with all tourist attractions just a few meters from each other), as the comercial center, with two subway stations very close to the hotel. Extremely solicitous and friendly Staff. Plentiful and varied breakfast buffet, served in a large and beautiful space (by the way, as our flight was very early, when we left the reception staff kindly delivered us the breakfast packed in two bags). Clean rooms, impeccable service. The hotel has a terrace where you can have a drink with a beautiful view of the city, including the Acropolis at the highest point.
Review 3:I paid all the amount while booking with my bank card. However, during check out we had to wait because the receptionist asked us to pay for the room (for the second time!) Luckily I had a booking confirmation document and a message from my bank that the payment was sent to the hotel. Happily we solved the inconvenience and reached the airport in time :)
Review 4:Good room with a balcony. Really excellent breakfast opened till 10:30 am with fresh and tasty food. Very central hotel - close to everything - Acropolis, Syntagma, Flea Market! Highly recommend for travellers who want to save their time.
Review 5:Room was very warm (in January!) and we couldn't get it to a normal temperature.
Review 6:Location is great, very close to the ancient sites, as well as within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and bars. Nice breakfast.
Review 7:The room is not large enough although one of the wall is decorated with glass.
Review 8:Great location, between the Acropolis and the temple of Zeus; satisfying breakfast; clean room with adequate facilities; friendly staff. Great experience and recommend.
Review 9:Excellent location. Very pleasant for a three stars hotel. Very good breakfast. The room was nice and quiet. I regret I could not enjoy the roof terrace and jacuzzi due to the cold weather
Review 10:There was music playing very loudly at night and in the mornings from the sound system in the hallway which was annoying and could be heard in my room. The jacuzzi area was also closed with a sign saying it's only open in the spring/summer which would have been nice to know beforehand. BBC was also the only English-language channel on the television.
Review 11:Location was excellent, was able to walk everywhere! Only used the metro to get to and from the airport which was a convenient 5 minute walk. The view from my room and from the rooftop bar of the Acropolis was spectacular. And breakfast was great - especially enjoyed the Greek sweets.
Review 12:Crappy neighborhood, way overpriced for the room (no amenities, cramped space), rude front desk, broken room safe
Review 13:Crappy neighborhood but close to Acropolis.
Review 14:Found the beds super uncomfortable! They have plastic water proof sheets on them which I found odd! I had to ask to have them removed!
Review 15:The location of the hotel is amazing! Super central to all the best areas in Athens.
Review 16:The bathroom/toilet has no real door - only a half glass, which is a bit confusing - every noise is heard in the room, and sometimes could be not so romantic :)
Review 17:The location is perfect, no one can ask for a better view at the Acropolis, and being in the centre of Plaka for a very good price! They had a bar with the best terrace and view. It's very convenient also because the hotel has a free car parking.
Review 18:Tiny room, overlooking a church and a school or kindergarden. The noise as from 8 o'clock until late in the evening also on a Saturday is a deal breaker.
Review 19:Location, roof terrace with fantastic view over Acropolis. Breakfast ok.
Review 20:The carpet in front of the rooms on our floor looked a bit dirty. Could be replaced or refreshed.
Review 21:We booked the room where there was no option to put additional bed but when the staff saw that we had children they upgraded us to the bigger room free of charge. Helpful staff, hotel close to Syntagma Square and the Plaka.
Review 22:Is not that i didn't like, but the size of the bathrooms were very tight.
Review 23:First of all, the friendly staff was incredible. All of them were very helpful in answering tourist like questions. The location of the hotel is perfect. The rooftop bar with terrace overlooking the Acropolis is just amazing.
Review 24:The Cancellation policy is two days before booking not the usual day and therefore as my flight was delayed, I did have to pay for one night where I did not stay at the hotel.
Review 25:The location of the hotel, although down a side street, is very easy to get to the bars and restaurants of Plaka and Syntagma. The bar on the roof of hotel has great views over Plaka and the Acropolis.
Review 26:Roof top hot tub is not listed as seasonal, giving the impression it is all year round when it is not. Room had an odour of drains.
Review 27:Friendly helpful staff, great location and perfect view from the roof top terrace.
Review 28:No real bad experience other than the bed and pillow could have been more comfortable.
Review 29:The location was splendid, the staff friendly and helpful especially when the strike forced us to cancel a trip.
Review 30:elevator of small size. for residents of limited abilities or with kids it mght be an issue
Review 31:everything was much above of my expectations. very comfortable, warm, clean, spacious and nicely decorated rooms. quality service. fresh breakfast. great location.
Review 32:Everything. My house has a closet bigger than the room. The staff was rude...they couldn't even figure out how to charge my credit card & the manager insulted me at checkin. You'd be MUCH better off staying at The Stanley. The Central Hotel is one of the worst in Athens. Only a silly tourist would stay there.
Review 33:This is a 1* hotel masquerading as more. There really is nothing to like here, except for the view from the rooftop bar, where I waited 45 minutes for them to get off their lazy butts to take my order.
Review 34:The beds were hard and low. Woke up with backaches the first night. Bathrooms are amazingly small. even NYC hotels have larger bathrooms. Shower room is literally 2.5ft x 3.5 ft, therefore its very tight if you a larger person. Bathroom space of my room was approximately 3.5 ft wide and 8 ft long ( shower space included) Each time I needed to use the toilet, I would hit my head on the wall trying to get seated because it is so tight. Sorry for being explicit but I wanted to give a good idea of how small the bathroom is. Rooms with balconies are considerably smaller also. Bathroom glass door do not go to the floor therefore, there is a gap of about 4 inches which deprives privacy.
Review 35:The location was very good. Close to most everywhere I wanted to visit. The staff at the hotel was very accommodating. I had a less than nice room the first night, the upgraded me the next morning. Because the beds were very uncomfortable and hard, I had asked if they could make it more comfortable and housekeeping put two padded mattress pads over the mattress that made it more comfortable. They were very nice about everything and did it without any animosity.
Review 36:The reception staff was too serios as receptionist dealing thier job in perfect but without fun
Review 37:Clean hotel.the breakfast is best in the world with friendly staff
Review 38:Missed tea-making equipment! Room had interior courtyard window and was a little on the dark side, but not a problem. Otherwise we disliked nothing!
Review 39:Wonderful staff; decor is modern, clean, light and well-maintained; breakfast excellent; location superb - great local shops and so close to the historical destinations - all easily walkable; Sunday flea market; rooftop viewing of floodlit Acropolis etc and great value for money.
Review 40:Balcony is very close to the next room's balcony...
Review 41:We stayed at room 302, it's has an amazing panoramic view of fira, caldera and the sunset. Breakfast was good but the breakfast room was a bit dark.
Review 42:very small elavator. airconditioning system set to heating mode , did not cool the room .
Review 43:close to all touristic areas , nice , attentive personel , good breakfast
Review 44:The roof top bar has a amazing view of the acropolis and the Staff on the bar are absolutely wonderful. Such a great location for everything from sightseeing to just going out for dinner. My wife and i would definitely stay here again .
Review 45:Single occupancy room was a little small, but still clean and comfortable. Bathroom on the small side. Minor things, I would still recommend.
Review 46:Great location, minutes walk from the metro which will take you anywhere in Athens. Right in the centre of town, short distance from main attractions in Greece. Views are amazing, rooms are clean, shower is powerful (always a requirement!). Breakfast is great. I would recommend and would definitely stay again.
Review 47:Needs soundproofing of rooms
Review 48:Brilliant location, lovely rooftop terrace with an amazing view of the Acropolis, lovely room. Really clean and the breakfast was nice
Review 49:The hotel had turned the Aircon/Heating to Heating for the winter and the room was too warm, We had to open the window but the Aircon/Heating ducts outside were noisy. A small point in an otherwise excellent stay.
Review 50:Good location and excellent for a 3 star hotel. Breakfasts were very good as was the roof top bar/lounge.
Review 51:Nearby school ; Noise if you want to sleep in the morning , elevator is slow and small :( otherwise i like the place
Review 52:Location , nearby resturants & mini market , room is neat and clean ?? the roof lounge is very Nice
Review 53:Mould in the bathroom under all the tile glue and in the grout. It made the bathroom smell. Bed was a bit too firm for my liking.
Review 54:Location enabled us to walk to the majority of major city attractions. Facilities were fine, as were the staff. Breakfast was delicious.
Review 55:The bath room is not closed, the room is too small, you can hear everything from other rooms and corridor , no isolation
Review 56:Location is nice, the room was clean and bed was good
Review 57:There was one very slow small, 3 man lift for a 6 floored hotel. We were on 6th floor in a small cold damp room. The beds were v hard, (fine if your back is up to such firmness! Mine isn't) and the sheets were damp, as were all my clothes. There was no extractor fan in the en suite cubicle of a shower room, or a door that sealed, adding to the dampness of the room. Our room was situated on the 6th floor, just beneath the roof terrace, at 7.26am every morning the staff scraped the chairs around for about 15 to 20 mins presumably rearranging them for the day. No need for an alarm and no lie in! I was given another duvet so as not to freeze in bed but the dampness remained. The breakfasts were the same everyday, as a keen fruit eater I was very disappointed with the lack of fruit choice. Not a banana to be seen, despite asking. Very hard inedible plums and apples every day for a week.
Review 58:Locations is great. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 59:They said that they would not wash towels unless requested. I believe this to be a good idea. The staff seem to have another opinion, however, and replaced them everyday, even unused ones.
Review 60:Beautifully designed building. Great and safe location. Breakfast was great and best coffee I had in five weeks in Greece.
Review 61:Unfortunatelly there were many things we did not like about this hotel and what makes bad value for money: - Hotel is proud of their terrace and jacuzzi, but jacuzzi is very small, not heated and most praboboly will not be working during your stay, of if it would work - you would have to look into hotel walls which needed repaiting already few years ago; - standard room windows were to the wall, forget acropolis view! - Hotel is proud of their bar with view to acropolis, but should not be, as it has limited menu, and it was the only place ever which could not make such popular coctail as long-island tea!! - extremely difficult to access, on saturday it took 30 min just to go the main streets from center; - hotel shower was full of black stains;
Review 62:Location is quite OK - in the very center of the city. Very friendly staff;
Review 63:The bed(s) were uncomfortable with a plastic sheet under the bottom sheet, but the pillows were good!
Review 64:This property has a great location for seeing the major sights in central Athens. The staff was really nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was impressive and the rooftop bar with a view of the Acropolis was fab!
Review 65:The lift is slow and only for 2 people. I forgot my jacket in the room and experince a poor service , and called the hotel twice on the 2nd day, they replied late on the third day.
Review 66:clean and location
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:I liked the room(perfect size, comfortable beds, nice bathroom),staff were really nice and helpful, breakfast was good and the terrace was amazing.I will definitely go back.
Review 69:Had been there before so asked for a room on a higher floor (on booking.com) as a little noisy down low but didn't get this. A kettle in the room would be great to make a cuppa.
Review 70:Lovely staff who are very helpful. Great location in Plaka, walking distance to flea market & wonderful restaurants.Best roof top bar where we relaxed with friends & enjoyed views to the Acropolis at sunset. Delicious breakfast each day & made available a smaller one when friends had to check out at 5.30am.
Review 71:The rooms were very small. Stained carpet in hallways made this average hotel look tacky. One 3 person lift for a 6 floor hotel not convenient.
Review 72:The location was very good. The breakfasts were varied choose and enjoyable.
Review 73:The location is very close to the Plaka, main sights of Athens and the metro. We received a complimentary bottle of wine upon our arrival and our room was modern and clean. The view of the Acropolis from our room and the roof top bar was absolutely breathtaking. The breakfast was delicious and included fresh fruit and pastries.
Review 74:No lift and air-conditioning.
Review 75:Great location and nice penthouse room. But if have heavy luggage, not recommemded as it is located on the 5th floor and no lift.
Review 76:Room and bathroom reasonably small but wonderful view of the Acropolis.
Review 77:Staff pleasant , friendly and efficient.Room very clean. Lots of places to go to eat locally , and short walk to the Acropolis and other sights.Easy commute from the airport.Fabulous view of the Acropolis from the great roof top bar.
Review 78:The room was very small. The bed was uncomfortable and the air conditioner was super loud. We said we would be there for our honeymoon but we didn't get treated anything special.
Review 79:The service at the breakfast buffet was excellent! The two ladies that worked there were very attentive.
Review 80:The hot-tub that was promissed at reservation was cold eventually. (Too cold to get in).
Review 81:The room was perfect. The balcony on the 7th floor was so great.
Review 82:Bathroom was mouldy and gave whole room a musty smell. Beds were very hard.
Review 83:The roof top bar is great, although expensive. Location is excellent for easy access to train, Plaka, Acropolis, etc. The window opened to a court yard for fresh air.
Review 84:Only one lift...rooms a little small. Location makes up for it. Be good to have tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Review 85:Location is excellent and reasonably close to Metro. Lovely roof top bar.
Review 86:Super friendly and clean hotel. We were given a room with separate beds. Since our toddler sleeps with us and in the middle we contacted at 11 pm the reception and after 5 mins a lovely lady came up to help us fix the crack between the two beds. Very helpfull and lovely hotel with great breakfast.
Review 87:There were many mosquitoes in our room, and the room size was very small compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Europe. For 2 people with suitcases; it was a very tight space.
Review 88:Centrally Located, Great rooftop bar, Generally helpful staff and reception. Great view of the Acropolis from our room! Very safe to be in Athens now; if you are concerned due to the current political climate, don't be. There is nothing to fear. Athens is a great city!
Review 89:Very inadequate elevator, ridiculously small for the amount of traffic in it. The buildings around (and all over the city) covered with bad graffiti.
Review 90:The rooftop garden bar; the view of the Acropolis from our window; the excellent and varied breakfasts.
Review 91:Loved this hotel! They were so friendly and provided excellent service! The rooftop was spectacular and definitely worth the hotel. We would stay here again for sure!
Review 92:If you are coming by car, be prepared for driving on narrow, pedestrianised streets.
Review 93:"Central" is well named: in the Plaka and very close to Syntagma; the rooftop bar has a jacuzzi and a stunning view of the Acropolis - magical after dark. Good sized room with fridge and aircon and very big bathroom with bath. Extensive, well presented breakfast. Helpful staff. Free underground parking - booking essential.
Review 94:The small lift which can only fit 3 in it.
Review 95:The hotel was located within a easy walk between Syntagma square and the Plaka. The breakfast was good and the highlight was sitting up in the rooftop bar at night with the Acropolis all lit up, it was magical.
Review 96:Bed was hard....normal for Europe
Review 97:We checked in at 8am after a 530am flight from santorini. They kindly arranged airport transfer and allowed us to have breakfast and check in early. They gave us a city map and directions. It was impressive!
Review 98:Nothing!
Review 99:Thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Athens. Great location of hotel in Plaka area. Helpful staff. Lovely views of Acropolis from roof terrace. Great breakfast.
Review 100:The location, view from the rooftop, rooftop restaurant, cleanliness of the room, the staff was very courteous and helpful. Everything was perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything more.
Review 101:Very small room. A hard bed. Quite expensive, but you pay for the view I guess. A tiny and very slow lift.
Review 102:Fanstastic view of the acropolis. Nice modern hotel, seemed recently refurbished and up to date. In a great location in Plaka, quite fun. Nice roof bar.
Review 103:Room was a bit small, just one elevator (capacity for 2 person without luggage) and breakfast ended a bit early (10h20am food started to be removed from the buffet and 10h40am the lights were turned off to tell you to leave)
Review 104:Friendly staff, excellent location, great terrace view of the Acropolis and new room.
Review 105:The lift is indeed a bit small and very slow.
Review 106:The is a lovely hotel with an absolutely stunning view from the roof terrace. I liked the closeness to the tourism sights. I also thought the staff at the hotel were very welcoming. I would like to visit again.
Review 107:The hot tub on the roof terrace was cold, not a big problem really!!
Review 108:Lovely clean modern hotel. Perfect after a long days sight seeing. In a great location for the metro and lots of eating out facilities near by. Very friendly helpful staff. Fantasticview of the acropolis from our room.
Review 109:Wifi was slow. Service on terrace bar was not that good - slow and not personal. Elevator so tiny and slow; not great for my elderly mother.
Review 110:Staff were super friendly. Helped when I had some questions about where I can buy certain things I needed. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 111:But need to walk through a small road/alley to get to the hotel. So was quite abit of struggle with our huge luggages
Review 112:Location is somewhat near the central area. Accessible to Acropolis via walking.
Review 113:When we arrived, we confirmed with the concierge that we would have a view of the Parthenon (which we paid extra for). He said that no, we had a view of the city with a balcony and that our room would be much more comfortable than the one with the Acropolis view. My husband and I were only in Athens for about 18 hours and really wanted to be able to have the view of the Parthenon because it was really the only reason we decided to make a stop there. Turns our, the room on the city side may have been more comfortable because our A/C did not work and it was HOT HOT HOT. Some friends who stayed there also had a non-functioning A/C and had to change rooms in the middle of the night for a cooler one!
Review 114:This hotel really is just around the corner and down the hill from the Acropolis and Parthenon. The view from the room and the rooftop bar was really great.
Review 115:The lifts are tiny And can only fit 3 people - most of the time we didnt use the lifts bevause it was so busy it was difficult to use the lift. Our shower head also was broken however when reported they fixed it straight away
Review 116:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great its a short distance to monastiraki markets and syntagma and odos ermou which is a great shopping presinct. The breakfast at the hotel is fantasticccc !!! The top floor has a lovley restaurant/bar which overlooks the acropolis - its a beautiful view. There is also a jacuzzi which is great.
Review 117:Great place in central Athens, a perfect spot is ' the sky bar'. We liked everything about the hotel. The staff was really great cuz I have problems with gluten and they gave me special breakfast without. The staff was really helpful. All our best regards.
Review 118:Slow WI-Fi and small elevator for max 3 people (sometimes we have to wait several minutes)
Review 119:Nice location close to the Acropolis with a nice terrace where you can have a drink with the Acropolis view
Review 120:The double room was quite small and plain but when we stayed in the triple room on the return trip it was very comfortable
Review 121:Loved the fact it had a terrace / bar where you could enjoy the view of the Acropolis. Staff were very friendly also
Review 122:The only real problem was the lift which was the slowest we have ever experienced and only fitted 3 people. Not helped it seems by people pushing the button on other floors and then giving up waiting so we kept stopping at empty lobbies.
Review 123:We had a room on the 5th floor with a great view of the Acropolis. Great walking location for the Plaka.
Review 124:The wifi is very Limited. Rooms and The lift is very Small. Lift is not enough For The hotel and it is very slow.
Review 125:The staff is friendly and helpfull. and The view of The rooftop is Perfect. location is good For The travellers.
Review 126:The wifi is spotty, which can be frustrating if you really need it, and the elevator is very, very small and wasn't working when I was there.
Review 127:It's in a great location - takes a bit of effort to roll your luggage to and from the subway, and it's easier early in the morning than in the afternoon - and close to everything a first-time visitor wants to see in Athens. The rooms are clean, the view from the bar is unparalleled and there's nothing very complicated about this hotel.
Review 128:we stayed two days and the breakfast were pretty much the same. Not many choices. The room is small, not enough space for 2 opened luggage.
Review 129:location, friendly and helpful staff. great view from the bar on the top of the hotel.
Review 130:This place is amazing. The staff could not be more helpful. The views from the bar are as breathtaking as the photos and the cocktails are great! The location is perfect, right in the heart of Plaka - close to great shopping, restaurants, the sights! Some of the rooms are smaller than others, but nicely set out (functional) and let's be honest, you're not going to Athens to sit in your room all day. The included breakfast is amazing! Highly recommend this place!
Review 131:Wifi was very poor. Room was very small and bed was average comfort wise plus the sheet didn't fully cover it.
Review 132:The highlight for us was the spectacular view of the Acropolis from the rooftop. Evening drinks watching the sun go down as the Acropolis lit up after some time at the sun loungers and jacuzzi was just perfect.
Review 133:Excellent location. Walking distance from train station even with luggage. Very friendly staff. Awesome views of The Acropolis from roof top bar. Breakfast was complete with lots to offer. Room was extremely clean.
Review 134:The first room we were given was too small to fit our suitcases.
Review 135:The second room was big enough and we had a great view of the Acropolis from the window.
Review 136:Wifi wasn't good. Brekky was average. Little lift for entire hotel only fits two people, waited 9 minutes for the lift
Review 137:Location was fabulous however our balcony was literally touching the one across the road. The staff were generally good, they smiled but didn't go out of their way to help. Was nice and clean
Review 138:I wanted to say something nice about you and the bar and it was only on facebook that one could. I don't do facebook so make it possible to comment without social media.
Review 139:wonderful staff! great rooftop bar!
Review 140:I thought a deluxe room would be larger, and there would be more power points around the room to charge phones and other things (only two)
Review 141:Clean. Good wifi. Great location. Great staff. Nice breakfast.
