Reviews for St George Lycabettus

Review 1:we had a huge problem with noise coming from hotel activities but the hotel staff found a way to help us pass the problem with the best way ever.

Review 2:View to Parthenon is incomparable, very close to Kolonaki in just half minute walking and at the most popular streets 10 minutes walking most.

Review 3:Shower has small glass swinging door that doesn't block the water from the floor. water everywhere after you shower. smallish rooms with little room to move around, but comfortable and clean.

Review 4:Amazing views of Athens and Acropolis from room and rooftop bar. comfortable beds. staff was attentive to every request.

Review 5:The room was smelling cigarettes. When we got in the room at our check in, the window was open to get in fresh air. We stayed 3 days, and the smell was still strong.

Review 6:Staff was very good. The restaurant view was perfect!

Review 7:BEDROOM ON THE FLOOR BELOW RECEPTION FACING A WALL. BATHROOM WAS OLD WITH VIRTUALLY NO FACILITIES--NOT EVEN TISSUES. RESTAURANT HAD A MAGNIFICENT VIEW BUT WAS OVERPRICED AND FOOD MEDIOCRE.

Review 8:STAFF WAS EXCELLENT

Review 9:The room on our arrival was not really clean ( hairs and toothpaste in the bathroom) dust and hairs on the floor. Only the half of the building is renovated so many rooms are old, we had a view on a huge wall - which made us feel like in prison...not a 5 star.

Review 10:The location of the hotel is quite good and the view from the rooms is nice

Review 11:False advertising-- no spa. Booked this hotel after arriving from a long flight and looked forward to a massage at the spa-- turns out there is no spa, and they wanted to hire an outsourced third party massage therapist to perform the massage. Not cool. I refused.

Review 12:Nice size room upgrade.

Review 13:internet.... - drinks at the pool are quite limited - also breakfast, after several days, gets boring -

Review 14:the view is outstanding - service is very nice, but Marina in Customer Service, is awesome! She is completely dedicated to make you have the best possible experience

Review 15:The hotel is quite old, needs a bit of refurbishment. They have all the facilities of a 5 star hotel, but needs upgrading. Not what I expected. Rooms are noisy, you can hear from the room the house keeping staff, banging of doors and people on the corridor.

Review 16:I only didn't like one thing, when I was heading back to the airport instead of using a taxi that was right in front of the hotel dropping off someone, the doormen called another taxi that obviously cost me more (higher rate + the hotel call fee)

Review 17:The hotel is very near to the lovely Kolonaki area, but situated on top of a hill so walking back might be a little tiring. Breakfast is good and the lovely view of the Acropolis makes it even better. The property also has a beautiful rooftop pool which unfortunately I didn't have the time to use.

Review 18:Hotel management issued a wedding hall on the second flor so sleeping on the first floor was impossible.i'm talking about the big noise at three in the morning it is unthikable for a hotel with 5 star. breakfast not value for money it's very poor. we sstay 3 night and every morning is the same food.Becouse our plane was late we reported to the hotel they responded that if booking after seven afternoon automatically be canceled. we arrived before seven..

Review 19:position of hotel

Review 20:The hotel is located on a hill in which after a long day of walking is a bit difficult to climb. How ever the sport was good :-) and when we felt realy tired, the taxi from the center was cheap.

Review 21:The hotel crew was very kind and helpfull. The view from the room was amazing. The area was nice - very stylish and rich neighberhood.

Review 22:After a flight delay, I arrived at almost 2:30 am and the guy at reception could not have been less helpful if he tried.

Review 23:The views and pool. My room was nothing special at all, however, I saw inside some other rooms which looked beautiful. The pool/views, etc. are fabulous.

Review 24:The room was very small as was the balcony. The balcony was dirty and the decor of the hotel and room was 'tired and dated' The experience was disappointing in the extreme and did not represent value for long.

Review 25:The facilities provide were good but limited. The staff were pleasant and helpful.

Review 26:Place needs some TLC and is fairly expensive for what it is.

Review 27:Friendly staff and the art expo was a great idea to have in the hotel. Great Wifi as well.

Review 28:We thought that some aspects of the St George could be due for a bit of renovation.

Review 29:We very much appreciated our lovely upgraded room with its stunning view of the Acropolis and being able to enjoy our meals on the wonderful balcony was an absolute delight as was the rooftop swimming pool.

Review 30:The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The view from the room was fabulous and seeing the Acropolis lite up night from balcony. The food at the restaurant in the hotel very good, and the outdoor café was a short walk gave a different variety.

Review 31:We stayed twice in one week. Our first room was nice (414) and much cheaper than our second room (314) that needed renovation and was much more expensive!!!??

Review 32:Location was stunning! Service and overall impression of the hotel not least the view. Room number 414 during our first stay in one week was nice (not nr 314 during our second stay).

Review 33:We were travelling with 2 boys 12 & 9, well behaved. The staff was very good to them, but other guests were older or professionals and I found they didn't appreciate having kids around. Not a super kid friendly place

Review 34:Staff was very nice, location fantastic.

Review 35:nothing.

Review 36:Convenient,excellent facilities, friendly staff, clean, spacious room, fantastic views, would highly recommend and we would definitely stay here again.

Review 37:Excellent location in a lovely, safe, clean and vibrant part of Athens. Plenty of bars and restaurants of varying prices. Staff were friendly, professional and knowledgable. Pool on the roof has a great view over Athens and the acropolis. Great for a couple of nights in Athens.

Review 38:We booked a family suite for 3 adults, the room was quite unimpressive and dated. Didn't really want to spend much time in the room. The pool and bar area were ok. Definitely not 5 star accommodation.

Review 39:The lobby was nice. Good location.

Review 40:I booked my room in the second best category of the hotel. (Acropolis boutique) the room was fine but the doors paint was falling apart revealing the previous colour of the door , the balcony door was very dirty with very old stickers annoying us when we wanted to just see the view, the lampadaires were dirty made of plastic, there was only one set of little bottles for the shower even if the room was booked for two guests. They asked me to pay the total amount of money for the room and the breakfast when I checked in without giving me an official receipt.

Review 41:Beautiful location, excellent view that you can't find anywhere else.

Review 42:The reception advised that I had not booked two rooms as travelling with my niece although the booking clearly states 2 rooms for 1 night. Even when I pointed this out the reception disagreed saying that I had booked one room for two people. A little bit embarrassing when I am travelling with a younger female colleague. They did however agree to give us two adjoining rooms at the equivalent price.

Review 43:The hotel is in a quiet area of Athens within 20 mins walk of main area. The view of Athens from the bar is stunning especially in the early evening.

Review 44:The rooms without a view which cost the same as ones with a view are much smaller.. You never know where they will put you. Other things that need improvement are the room service, the a/c unit and the pool area/bar which btw is a great plus when it gets really warm.

Review 45:I had the pleasure of staying here twice and I must say, if you get a room with a view it is simply outstanding. Big room, great balcony with an incredible view. This hotel is definitely worth the money and has a very luxurious feek to it. The location also renders this a must for any tourist.

Review 46:The room was facing the noisy street and it smelled like there has been smoked. The walls are rather thin and it was noisy from other rooms (child crying).

Review 47:The location and the views from the rooftop. Very nice drinks on the poolside.

Review 48:The standard of the room was really not 5-star: power went out, air-con was noisy, furniture worn-out/broken, furthermore the view from our room was right into a wall although that we had ordered and payed for a room view a view

Review 49:Really nice pool and bar at the roof of the hotel, nice location

Review 50:Doors in standard rooms are not closing properly, they dont have seals. So voices from the hallway are permanently present and to hear.

Review 51:Top View, nice bar

Review 52:The rooms and the public areas are quite small; the hotel has not been renovated for quite a while.

Review 53:The staff is extremely friendly. The rooftop restaurant with magnificient view is the main feature of the hotel.

Review 54:No bad experiences but the hotel has a few quirks. Met our needs and we left happy.

Review 55:Amazing view of the Acropolis from our balcony, great pool, food at the restaurant was a little on the pricey side but was delicious and again, that view is to die for. Worth the walk up Lycabettus Hill - good views across the city and a nice spot to have brekkie (after 10am).

Review 56:Air conditioning noise level not even near 5star hotel expectation. Day we were checking out, 3 times they entered the room to clean prior to 12pm! Amenities only for 1 person. Hard to find a place to sit at the pool as there are only 8 sezlongs.

Review 57:The hotel is really old and the room I stayed in was much smaller then I expected from the picture on the internet.

Review 58:The service was really great and every department was so helpful.

Review 59:very steep to get up to the hotel,if you are walking... my room was small and needed a facelift

Review 60:the view from my balcony was great the hotel is located above a very pleasant neghibourhood

Review 61:Nothing much but we thought breakfast was expensive

Review 62:The sky bar is fantastic as well as the pool place. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a hill and offers a great view. Our room was clean and had a nice balcony.

Review 63:Lovely rooftop pool with view. Dinner with views of Acropolis lovely. Left behind something and staff turned it in. I was able to collect it later. Honest.

Review 64:I had left my phone charger at the hotel & the staff was lovely, it was sent to me in the mail, so I could have it prior to leaving Greece. It was much appreciated!

Review 65:The opening hours of the pool area need to be brought forward to around 7am. We, like many guests, want to swim for exercise first thing in the morning.

Review 66:The facilities are excellent and the position and view could not be better. We particularly enjoyed a few hours by the pool.

Review 67:for the five star hotel lack of bath robes and slippers came as a surprise. Bathroom facilities are not convenient - no place to hang clothes and towels. Loud ventilation/cooling in the one of the two rooms. I expected more spacious rooms, hallways and elevator.

Review 68:Nice staff, clean

Review 69:Every time we entered our room 507 there was a bad odour which was not nice we think it's connected to the aircond and plumbing ?? Other than that we love staying here.

Review 70:The staff are very motivated to help from the front desk to the pool to the car park. Kim & Marina at the guest services desk are really delightful and 100% committed to providing top service.

Review 71:My daughter and I absolutely loved the swimming pool and pool bar, brilliant for a cool down and cocktail after a hot day sightseeing. Reception staff were very helpful too.

Review 72:Just there's not much space around the pool so even when 8 people there, it's crowded.

Review 73:Nice (but small) pool, great wifi connection, very good breakfast with an amazing view over Athens, very confortable bed

Review 74:Personnel at check-out was very slow and not so motivated... Rest of staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 75:Nice pool area with happy hour 7 - 9 pm, nice views to Acropolis from room balcony, pool area and restaurants. Very nice location and very good breakfast buffet and food quality in restaurant. We had a freshly renovated, nice and specious "standard room".

Review 76:One needs to stay in the presidential suite to get the feel of 5* hotel. Executive rooms are in need up an upgrade - including new beddings! The communal areas also felt a bit outdated.

Review 77:Location is great and the roof top bar has some amazing views of the city. Would come back for a drink there again.

Review 78:Bed could have been more comfortable.

Review 79:The location is great and the views are perfect. Staff were very helpful and caring. The rooftop bar and pool are wonderful. Very nice neighborhood too.

Review 80:Nothing, all fantastic

Review 81:What a great location and lovely pool area, the staff were wonderful. First I stayed two nights with my husband and one week later one night on my own. The staff made me so welcome, especially the girl at the swimming pool. I loved the little area and would most definitely tell people to visit this hotel.

Review 82:Run down furniture, the lakes of water in the bathroom after the shower, no place for the water to go down.

Review 83:The wonderful view from the breakfast place, just wonderful !

Review 84:The hotel is a bit pricey for what it is, there is no breakfast included and the hotel food is very very expensive.

Review 85:Location is great. Walking distance to all tourist sites but far away from touristy nwighborhoods to wnjoy evening dinners and drinks with the locals. The area is really nice with great shops.

Review 86:After 3 weeks of travelling in Greece we were came to expect the usual lack of customer service and friendliness from hotel staff. However, we were very happy with the extremely helpful, polite and professional front desk/check-in staff. Best service we received in Greece!

Review 87:I honestly would say this hotel is in the best neighborhood in Athens. On a hill in a safe and charming neighborhood, an easy 15-20 minute walk to most sites, or even more easily to the nearby Metro station. We had a spacious room with a large and modern bathroom and a balcony with a panoramic view of the Acropolis. The entire staff was warm, friendly, and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and will definitely stay here when we return to Athens.

Review 88:The dinner in the restaurant was an endless experience. Over 3 1/2hours long. Completely ignored by staff. It didn't seem like theywere understaffed--no one gave any type off explanation. We had asurreal experience of being completely ignored! We had to ask for menus, ask for someone to get drinks, nobody ever approached us to see if wewanted more drinks or to order dinner or to see if everything was ok.The food was actually quite good, no one was unfriendly but with thisstrange "non service" issue in the restaurant, there is no wayany one in our 7 person group would ever return to the hotel.

Review 89:Many of the staff were friendly. The hotel was fine. Our rooms were notwhat we expected or booked( prob a booking .com error-not hotel),but theoriginal rooms were very shabby, smelled like smoke on lowest floor whenwe had booked and paid for one regular room and one high level suitewith view of Acropolis. The manager was wonderful with figuring out asolution: one room (but it was Spectacular) instead of 2. One king bed,and third person on sofa. Fantastic balcony/porch with glorious viewof Acropolis on the side. It was just strange because in the fantasticroom there was not mini bar, refrig, water or water glass or ice bucket,no room service menu....I Am not complaining because the manager wasvery kind about figuring this out. However we paid our original price ofwhat we would have paid for 1suite and one room (so 2 bedroom bathroom)so I think it was financially ok for the hotel....

Review 90:Small and noisy room, window facing a wall, wifi slow or not operating, sold as king bed room had twin beds, TV screen smaller than tablet.... Not at all a 5 stars despite the price range. Much better places to be found closeby.

Review 91:Location

Review 92:We were aware of this hotel being a bit of a hike from the city center so we were prepared for the 10 min walk or 5 euro cab ride to Syntagma. The walk up is very steep but doable. As long as people are informed about this, then they will enjoy their stay.

Review 93:The hotel staff were so accommodating and attentive. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with great views of Lycabettus. We got an excellent price for this hotel and felt it was worth it.

Review 94:It's up a very steep hill (not unusual in Athens). Thank goodness for the taxis.

Review 95:The most comfortable bed I've slept in for years! Facilities and staff were excellent, and the view from the dining room is utterly magnificent

Review 96:Not really a 5-star hotel compared on a european standard, rooms need refurbishment if claimed to be a 5-star hotel.

Review 97:Staff friendliness, view from terrace, quality of bar/restaurant @terrace, location of the hotel

Review 98:Walls were very thin, could hear everything next door. Very strange divider walls in the rooms led to paper thin, and not very private feeling.

Review 99:Location was great!

Review 100:Very bad Wi-Fi connection, slow with frequent shutdown, difficult to work.

Review 101:- Excellent situation, swimming-pool on the roof with view on the city (incl. Acropolis), good breakfast in terrace, room was large and calm with balcony.

Review 102:The charge for Breakfast was a bit expensive. Bathroom setup was a bit odd.

Review 103:The Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. A short walk to metro with many shops and places to eat along the way.

Review 104:Had a nasty fall in the pool area. Staff and tourists were attentive but the tourists were the most efficient. There was a nurse and an MT, both tourists who provided first aid. There is a rubber mat up the steps and none at the bottom. I stepped in a poddle was water although wearing rubber shoes, and had a nasty fall. The hotel offered to take me to a hospital, but I didnt have travelers insurance and decided to wait and see if the pain got better, not sure in Greece but in US hospitals are expensive and wanted to be sure it was necessary before I made the hotel incur in the expense. The next day I felt good but had to leave the long waited opera night after the first intermission with my lower back killing me. The next day I checked out early and the exit was also another dissapoinment. At check out I noticed that not even a day was deducted from the bill for my accident. Also, the van driver who seems to be the one who the hotel calls to pick up and drop guests, a man in his 50s or 60s with white hair and a dark blue minivan, refused to include me in the ride to the airport of a group of 5 ladies that had hired him and were going at the same time. This could have saved me 40 euros (around 50 dollars) as my group was leaving later and I would need to take a taxi by myself. There was plenty of room and he refused because he would have too much luggage and it was illegal. Yet this was the same guy who picked up myself and 8 friends from the port with all our tons of lugagge and took us to the hotel seating on each other's laps!!Talk about double standard! When he was to make a profit, he managed to accomodate 8, but 6 was too many when he had his fare secured. Finally, the cleaning ladies never threw out the garbage until the last day, but when you called for anything, maintenance and housekeeping would come up fast and efficiently.Front desk, pool bar, concierge and guest relations were all helpful and friendly. The hotel is overall good.

Review 105:My room view and hotel accomodations, most of the personnel friendliness and efficciency, the pool bar, the restaurant upstairs and its view.

Review 106:Hotel showing it's age. Dated. Showering facilities unacceptable. Air con. very noisy. Staff friendly enough but stand offish, some what reserved.

Review 107:Great location. Was originally a beautiful hotel, and modern for it's time for sure

Review 108:The check out. No smile, no greetings, did not ask how was our stay. The noisy cleaners at 8:00 am each mornings. We had our room at the third floor. We could hear the noise of the street/rooms next door.

Review 109:The view at the swimming pool and also the restaurant. The food is very good but a bit expensive. Waiters a bit not well organized but they were nice.

Review 110:Free WiFi was horrible! It took hours for me to check in with our flighthome. Safe on room, nice idea, however it wasn't bolted in. Neededto launder clothes from prior leg of our trip. The font desk said nolaundry available in city. Hotel has service but would not be returnedin time for our departure from our 2 night stay. Rick Steve's bookhad 2 and there are many more.

Review 111:Surprise amazing dinner and fabulous breakfast! Very clean. Pretty, modern, calm decor of room. Beautiful & safe neighborhood.

Review 112:bed far too hard; said there was a shuttle bus to Syntagma suare but there wasn't and this was important to us because walking was a problem with a broken ankle.

Review 113:swimming while viewing the Acropolis;charming and helpful staff

Review 114:Modern design with attractive style. Very comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Its small/medium size gave it a friendly atmosphere. Great location on the hill - super views. In a "good area".

Review 115:The hotel is 3* or poor 4*, it loses its quality. The furniture in the room and in the bathroom should be replaced. We have 2 beds instead of requested 1 big bed. Nobody informed us in advance that the pool and the gym are under reconstruction and we won't be able to use it, there was no information on the site about it or over the phone when I called to confirm my booking. The cleaning starts at 8 am, it’s quite annoying as the cleaning ladies are shouting and make a noise. Very thin walls, it seems you are in the same room with your neighbors. No use of big mirror in the center of the room, better to have big TV instead. The minibar prices are very high (the only thing that shows that hotel has 5*).

Review 116:The view from the room is quite good, you can see both Acropolis and Likavitos if you have right room. Not far from the center. Mattresses are comfortable. Good place if you stay there for two-three days and if you are outside most of the time.

Review 117:POOL WAS CLOSED - only booked this hotel for the pool. Walls were paper-thin. Let's just say, turning on the light switches was not the only noises we endured from the romantic couple in the next room. Smoking room - dirty net curtains, burn marks, and triggered my asthma all weekend. The staff didn't have the full booking - on arrival they were trying to charge for two rooms, not one, and very rude about it. When I showed them the booking confirmation for one room, I didn't even get an apology!

Review 118:Breakfast was ok. The selection was standard buffet, and the scrambled eggs were great. The power shower was good. The location is good if you are prepared for walking up the hill, and the view from breakfast room is great.

Review 119:-rather poor wifi on higher floors -if breakfast not included in the room price, i would say 22 euro is expensive

Review 120:- location, location, location -helpfull staff -restaurant level view is to die for

Review 121:Had a small balcony but when the sun was out the balcony was in the shade.could make a difference the time of year.

Review 122:Great Views & Location, restaurant food Great and staff were very helpfull.

Review 123:the room needs to be just a little bigger

Review 124:Very kind, multilingual, you can have everything there. They offer us a free bottle of champagne for the honey moon

Review 125:A bit pricey considering the pool and spa was closed and the gym was minimalist. We had booked this hotel to use the pool but it was being worked on. Sauna/Spa was unavail as well. We had stayed at a nicer hotel closer to the middle of the tourist section earlier in our stay, it was more worth the cost. Breakfast was decent, but again, a bit pricey considering like hotels had complementary breakfasts.

Review 126:Comfortable and clean rooms, nice deck with a view of the hill and a portion of downtown Athens.

Review 127:breakfast was poor. Tv was small and old. Bed was not very comfortable

Review 128:View from toom, the staff's professionalism, modern feel. Room 507 has one of the best views

Review 129:We booked the hotel on a Free Cancellation basis expecting to pay the hotel bill on departure. As I'd secured 2 rooms on my credit card I was unhappy to find that the hotel had taken full payment for all rooms on the day prior to arrival.

Review 130:Comfortable hotel in a good location to all the attractions. Staff in the hotel were generally friendly.

Review 131:The spa facilities are fully booked weeks in advance. If you're only staying for a few days you won't get to use any of it. The gym is also very tiny and basic.

Review 132:The restaurant has amazing views of the city at any time of day. Be sure to book a table as soon as you check into the hotel though.

Review 133:room was too hot and not able to regulate tempurate...view to the back was very unexciting. internet login a hassle...

Review 134:bkfast room had great views overlooking athens to the acropolis. upscale area was nice.

Review 135:TV screen too small. Room first allocated was half of a partitioned larger room. Air conditioning not available.

Review 136:Excellent service, staff very helpful with one exception.

Review 137:A bit noisy - the room next door to us arrived late one night at 4am and proceeded to have loud and noisy 'fun' for an hour. It was so loud due to poor sound proofing.

Review 138:The staff. The position and the ease of everything. Breakfast also good options.

Review 139:Noise stuff No spa and swiming pool as we aspected Very expensive cost of breakfast Cleaners started to knock from very early in the morning, 3-4 times per day. Not worted as a 5 star hotel

Review 140:I liked just the position, close to central town

The Fine Print
