Reviews for Villa Mata

Review 1:Tranquility. Charming. Simplicity. Authentic feel. Character. Amazing hospitality. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff and owner/manager (he can handle anything, even the most annoying guest, like me). What more could you wish for?

Review 2:Wifi connection wasn't the best.

Review 3:Lambros and his family could not be any friendlier. The villa had the best family feeling. Our room was lovely with a big balcony and view of the sea (wonderful sunsets) and so cheap. Best value for money. Very convenient and close to both the port and Yialos beach, with easy access to the bus to other parts of the island. Area was peaceful, but not too quiet and we could easily get to Chora when we wanted. Small outdoor kitchen area, but adequate for breakfast. Food on the island is cheap and delicious anyway so we didn't bother cooking. Thank you very much for the stay, we will definitely be back as soon as we can :)

Review 4:If I really had to point out some cons, completely offset by pros, our bedroom was a bit small (they asked us if it was fine when we checked in, and I am sure they'd have found another place in case we were not satisfied) and our window was right in front of a table used by other guests to have dinner/drinks etc, so from time to time it was a bit noisy.

Review 5:Staff very nice and helpful: came to pick us up at the port and gave us a lot of extremely tips about the island (beaches, restaurants, bars, etc.) Perfect location and very comfortable room with AC/wifi and cleaned everyday. We would definitely go back to Villa Mata!

Review 6:I enjoyed my stay last year and decided to book my stay at Villa Mata once again and was not disappointed. Great pension, supet-friendly owners, quiet location. 20m from the beach and within a short walking distance from shops, taverns and beach bars.

Review 7:Super property, excellent location and staff that made you feel like a member of the family. Don't give it a second thought wonderful place to stay

Review 8:When we arrived to Ios, Lambros met us at the port and he told us that he switched our rooms to another hotel for his aunt because he said he had very noisy guests in his Villa Mata. we went to this other hotel and it was horrible. No hot water, small and dirty rooms. So we asked to be transferred back to our original reservation in Villa Mata. And surprisingly there was no noisy guests. The villa is pretty charming. The double room is really small. the bathroom is tiny as well.

Review 9:Location, cute villa.

Review 10:Lambros and his family are absolute legends. Genuinely happy to have a chat whenever you run into them. The location is a fifteen minute walk from Chora, "the Village", where the party scene is at, and a two minute walk from the port and some restaurants and a supermarket. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 11:Everything was fantastic - sea & beach, port, Carrefour & a lot of tavernas nearby...thanks to Lambros & his mummy for their hospitability & friendly atmosphere. It's going without saying we'll recommend our friends to stay at this little but very warm soulful Your Home on Ios as we called it!))

Review 12:The room was in a quiet area, yet very central. The welcome we received on arrival and concern for our comfort during our short stay. Had we been staying longer than just one night we would have made use of the kitchen located on the balcony.

Review 13:Leaving

Review 14:Villa mata is awesome! Lambros the owner picked us up at the dock and vas very helpfull with everything. Villa mata is approximately 45 seconds from the beach and 10-15 minutes from the village. Definitely reccomend it and we will return.

Review 15:The location is excellent, Lambros and his family who run the place couldn't do enough to make me feel welcome and the property makes you feel like your on a Greek island

Review 16:Villa Mata is the perfect place for a carefree and relaxing stay at the lovely island of Ios. Everything you need is within a few minutes walk away. Port, bus stop to Chora, the main town, and various beaches around the island. Mini markets, supermarket, bakery, beach bars, tourist stores, cafes and restaurants all close by. Most importantly the beach is merely a few metres away. Warm, welcoming owners greet you and are there to tend to your every needs and offer any information you require. Lambros is the go to guy for anything and is very friendly and helpful. My room was spacious with a descent-sized bathroom, and a balcony and was cleaned daily with fresh linen. TV, safe, refrigerator and kitchenette, with utensils provided, which was useful. The lovely sitting area with fragrant flowers all around was absolutely perfect for my morning coffee and quiet evenings. I ended up staying longer and didn't want to leave. Highly recommended. I will definitely be visiting again.

Review 17:The location was great. Right across from the beach and close walking distance to everything including the bus which will take you anywhere you want to go on the island. Lambros was a fantastic host. He was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. There is also a great little outdoor kitchen at the property for cooking up your own meals.

Review 18:The room was really small and the toilet seemed quite old. Also at the first floor the last room does have really poor wifi signal.

Review 19:The big balcony, the garden and the location that was close to the beach and the port. The staff (Mr Labros) was friendly and helpful.

Review 20:The wi-fi was ok unless you sat near the entrance then it was perfect. Flushing of the toilets was ok not great Location was very close to the port but if you wanted to go the village then you had walk some stairs.

Review 21:My friend and I chose Villa Mata for our three day trip in Ios and it was a perfect visit. The room was very clean and spacious. The owner Lambros was the nicest host I've ever had, was very helpful and even met us at the port to welcome us. I highly recommend Villa Mata to everyone who stays on Ios!

Review 22:It was perfect ! The Villa Matta is near of the port, the beach and the supermarket. La Villa Matta is really charming and clean ! We had a warm welcome. It was really awesome ! We hope we will come back next year !

Review 23:Lambros is the man, he was super friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful with amazing location, definitely worth the price. Overall staying at Villa Mata on Ios was an amazing experience. Thank you!

Review 24:Mata is a friendly place with friendly people who are allways willing to help with anything you may need when relaxing by the sea at Ios. Lambros was taking care of us when negotiating car rental, when choosing best destinations and beaches for excursions and when choosing the right pills for sea sickness when leaving the island. ThNks Lambros, thanks Mata, it was great!

Review 25:nothing

Review 26:Location

Review 27:Very nice atmosphere. Position was absolutely brilliant. The owner Lambros was very kind.

Review 28:Clean. Friendly. Helpful. Quiet.

Review 29:Super Staff, our Host made us feel very welcome at Villa Mata, and gave us directions to clubs, food places etc.

Review 30:At times it tend to be noisy by teenagers going out late or returning early morning.

Review 31:Very good location near the port and Lambros is very helpful.

Review 32:The family run business is lovely, our host Lambros was amazing and very friendly as well as helpful.

Review 33:It is right beside the beach! 1 minute walk to supermarket and restaurants. So safe to walk back to after a night out

Review 34:The owner is really nice! we made a mistake our reservation, but they didn't ask to pay! so kind! we really appriciate it!

Review 35:Great Stuff! Clean Rooms, amazing location! Definitely recommended Villa Mata, for all travallers!!!!

Review 36:My wife and I choose Villa Mata cause of the previous reviews, and did NOT regret it!! Just of the beach, in a nice, clean, beautifully decorated surrounding. The room was spacious and clean and had everything we wanted. The BBQ and the kitchen in the garden were a nice touch. Highly recommend the place for everyone who value their vacations!!!

Review 37:The family who owns and runs Villa Mata is amazing! Very very friendly and always happy to assist and provide info. The rooms are very clean, spacious and well decorated. Thank u guys.

Review 38:Nothing, but wished we stayed longer, was only 2 nights.

Review 39:Everything was great! After we booked Lambros, the owner sent us a friendly email asking article details and arranged to meet us at the ferry. From there it was a short walk to villa, which is about a 2 min walk from the beach and in a beautiful setting with lots of vines and flowers. He and his sister was also very helpful with places to see, such as Maganari beach. You all must go there if you go to Ios. Every morning we would be greeted by him and or his sister and made to feel so welcome and at home. The room was large and has a nice view of the mountains and sea. I would definitely recommend to stay here. :)

Review 40:I would definitely stay here again, but there were just some tiny thingsthat could improve. The wifi was very hit and miss, but the manager wastrying to sort that out. Also the shower curtain was futile and ourbathroom was usually a puddle of water. Overall though, a great place.

Review 41:We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Mata. This family-run place is superfriendly and welcoming. The rooms all have private balconies, but thereare also communal spaces which make it easy to meet other travellers. The garden setting is gorgeous and really peaceful. Many people hit upIos to party, but we had a very relaxing time staying at Villa Mata. Thelittle outdoor kitchen is handy for cooking up some food. Also the staffwere really helpful when we were planning our onward leg.

Review 42:Owner is very helpful, friendly and welcoming. 2mins from beach at pier. Short 5 mins walk to pier where there are shops and plenty places to eat. pleasant 15min uphill walk to main chora (town) basic, great value

Review 43:It was amazing. A beautiful hotel full of fairy lights and flowers, every room with a cute little balcony with table and chairs. Lambros theowner was a highlight of our holiday! He was so helpful, a total legend- letting us check out 2 hours late because of a nosebleed, allowing usto change rooms, advising us on the best restaurants, clubs, routes, etcetc. The walk to the village/nightlife is a 5 minute $1.60 bus journey,or a 10/15 minute walk up steps the are right by Villa Mata. Met loadsof other amazing people in the hotel, were able to cook our own dinnerwhen we didn't feel like eating out because of the little outdoorkitchen, wasn't a problem if you were up at all hours! 1 minute awayfrom Yialos beach. Perfect.

Review 44:Position is exceptional, proximity to Yialos beach and the port. Staff are cheerful and eager to please. As a solo traveler it was a wonderful place to meet people given the mix of holiday goers staying there. Outdoor facilities were a great place to congregate and share travel experiences with others.

Review 45:Excellent location, pretty cheap, a very clean place with friendly andprofessional staff! What else do we need? I highly recommend this place.I followed the reviews on the internet and booked a room for 10 nights.I enjoyed every minute at Villla Mata and if I come back to Ios, it willbe only this place where I will stay. In addition to the above, Lambros(the guy who runs the hotel) is so nice and helpful! I forgot my adapterin Athens and Lambros brought me a new one immediately. In addition, hewas always available for answering my questions on where to go and whatto do. What is more important is that his suggestions were clear andaccurate, so I visited and did things like a local (honestly, "LonelyPlanet" was not so helpful). Finally, the location is excellent -literally one minute from one beach, two minutes from the port and 10--15 minutes from other two beaches. Overall, awesome!!!

Review 46:Great place! Amazing value for what I paid. The room was very clean and comfortable, the location was great- close to the beach, many good restaurants, the port, and town. The outdoor kitchen was a great bonus and there was also a BBQ for guests to use.

Review 47:Great Staff Good size room

Review 48:Lambros and family where very helpfull The rooms were spacious and very clean. Ideally located , enjoyed it will return in a couple of months
