Reviews for Little National Hotel
Review 1:The location is excellent, if you want to explore the interesting governmental area, where both old and new parliaments are situated - by feet. Most of restaurants are however on the other side of the lake, where downtown is.
Review 2:The bed, the location, wi fi... All good.
Review 3:A little far from the center of Canberra.
Review 4:Fantastic staff, great rooms although some say they are to small. $15 breakfast was really good vale for money.
Review 5:Property best targeted to the under 55 age group. Only able to access the very comfy bed from one side - this becomes a little more tricky for the over 70's. No soft chair in room, so no place to sit and read. Library at end of floor a good alterative, but the air con. was not working during our stay, on very hot days.
Review 6:Nothing. Park on the street at weekends and avoid the parking fee.
Review 7:Location close to Lake Burley Griffen, Parliament House and Manuka restaurants. Great rooms and public areas: everything we needed. Bike hire from the hotel front door. Small but lovely rooms for the price.
Review 8:The outer rooms look to have a good view out but we were on the inside looking at a screen to hide the car park, which ruined the feature effect of the floor to ceiling glazing a bit.
Review 9:Quirky bed set up but well thought out rooms where everything is just right. Weekend parking was free as well.
Review 10:No direct access from car park to rooms or reception despite being in the same building; car park not secure. Bedding installation only suitable for people under 6 ft.
Review 11:The bed lies scross the room but there is no room to move around the end to get to the other side. This is dangerous in the middle of the night as the bed sits on a shelf.
Review 12:Location Staff responsive
Review 13:Other people's doors around our room are quite loud when they close, so it was a little disturbing in the morning when everyone was moving out.
Review 14:Such a modern and spectacular hotel! The room and lounge areas were fantastic. Bed was super comfortable. A perfect shower, all clean and well maintained. And free movies and wifi!!
Review 15:After seeing the room we couldn't drag ourselves to leave to attend the event we came for on that day. Lucky Summernats is a 4 day event.
Review 16:The bed was amazing, so comfy, so big. I shared the bed with my 13 year old son and wouldn't have known he was there. He said several times "dad I would love this as my room, I could live here". The tv above the bed was great so could relax and watch. The rain head shower was top notch.
Review 17:No happy hour on Saturday?
Review 18:staff, cleaning staff, young bartender on floor six was very helpful with my wifi. Champagne was deliciously cold on Thursday happy hour
Review 19:Climbing over the bed to get to the far side.
Review 20:The complete blackout blind on the window - very good for sleeping in. Also the choice of teas. The room all very clean and spick and span.
Review 21:Ate in Ostani both nights. Sunday was great. Monday was very disappointing. Took ages for food to come (over an hour), then it was over cooked. Clearly on the Monday having just the one restaurant open was not enough to meet demand.
Review 22:Part of the Realm precinct so you have the ability to use all of the facilities within it. Living in the area we have visited all 3 of the hotel now and they all offer excellent comfort whatever your budget.
Review 23:I was overcharged by about $50, I asked for copies of the invoices to be sent to my email address and never got them, strange amounts showing on my credit card :(
Review 24:Stunning modern design inside and out, friendly staff, great beds, beautifully fitted out, scrumptious!! wonderful bath products too
Review 25:Check in was a disaster. We arrived at approx. 5.30pm and room not ready, despite having received a text at 7.31am the same day to say that room will be ready at 2.00pm! We were told room would be ready in 10 minutes, but after half an hour we gave up waiting and went for dinner. Room was ready when we came back from dinner at about 7.30pm.Not advised that if we booked breakfast at reception the night before for Hotel Realm that it was $15 per person for the buffet. On our first morning there we asked where we could get breakfast and were advised to go to Hotel Realm which we did and the buffet breakfast was $29 per person. No mention was made of the $15 per person offer. It was only on our last night that we overheard reception offering buffet breakfast to a guest at Hotel Realm for $15 per person. On enquiry, we were then offered breakfast at the cheaper rate for our last morning. There is no lift from car park to the 5th & 6th Floors which is very inconvenient.Housekeeping staff are not doing their job properly. Floor not cleaned properly, bed not made properly, shower, toilet and basin not cleaned properly. Also, on our last day, we left the room at approx. 9.30am and left the make up room sign on. We returned at 4.00pm and room had not been made up. Cleaning staff were putting laundry away in the passage near our room when we returned and one of the cleaning staff mentioned that the reason the room had not been made up was because they were short of towels. They said they would have the room ready in 15 minutes, so we went to the lounge and returned, only to find that the floor, shower, toilet and basin had not been cleaned at all. Also hot water barely warm enough for a shower and not hot enough for a shave.Location of bed affixed to the window makes it very difficult to get in and out of the bed.
Review 26:Convenient location. Bathroom a good size. New hotel with great electronic features for lighting, room access, etc
Review 27:That I didn't stay longer. Nespresso pods & T2 tea in the room was fabulous. Coffee machine in the Library was great also. Bikes for hire out the front was great to pop into Manuka for a bite to eat or a coffee. The bed was honestly the best best I've ever slept in. Great location. The room was small but perfect. Great use of the space and lovely bathroom.
Review 28:What a fabulous hotel.
Review 29:Hotel lobby and the car park are separated have to carry the luggage from the car-park to the hotel.
Review 30:Great location! great bed! Even the room was a little squeezed, it was still a very comfortable stay.
Review 31:Those used to a firm mattress might find LN's a little soft. Air con. controls are complicated.
Review 32:Stylish decor, library and lounge areas with great views, en suite features, good/ free room wifi.
Review 33:The management of rooms turn over. We arrived at 5.30pm and couldn't get into our rooms past 7pm. On another day it took past 5pm to get our rooms cleaned.
Review 34:The interior was very nice.
Review 35:Restaurants were closed for renovations and no room service, you had to cross the road to their other hotel to go to a restaurant and they didn't have a table available till 9pm. Room had been cleaned well and there was hair throughout my bed. Down the side of the bed had never been cleaned and was disgusting.
Review 36:The beds were really comfortable. Staff were nice.
Review 37:This is a new hotel that has been designed very well. Rooms are small but contain everything you need. Rooms look out to a serene asian style garden. Driving distance to all key sights and restaurants.Secure carparking.
Review 38:1.We found some dust in the bathroom. 2.The shower room is not convenient for girl. 3.Sound isolation can be better
Review 39:1.Library is pretty and convenient 2.Coffee is good. 3. Room and view is good
Review 40:No restaurant in the hotel
Review 41:Excellent hotel! The beds are incredibly comfortable and I loved sleeping by a huge window. Everything in the hotel very new and clean and a lot of high quality details like nice toiletries, espresso machine in the room etc.
Review 42:Great little boutique hotel close to parliament house and the galleries. Terrific front of house staff who were friendly and helpful. Small room but beautifully appointed - the stylish and comfortable library and lounges were a bonus. Super value for money.
Review 43:Found the positioning of the bed very awkward to get in and out of. It was comfy when in, and great size but found you need to be an athlete to access.
Review 44:Clean,quiet,great bathroom products, had all we needed. Parking great. Loved the veiw, the lounge and library and the general ambience.
Review 45:Parking wasn't included in the price of the room. Was surprised to have to pay for parking in a hotel as a guest
Review 46:The uber soft robes, Nespresso machine, T2 tea bags and free movies! Loved the library and lounge area too..and the location!
Review 47:The only thing I would have liked is a Fairfax newspaper, not all News Ltd papers
Review 48:Comfortable bed, picture window, free movies, helpful staff, quietness, convenience, good price
Review 49:The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly and the AC control for the room wasn't functioning properly. It will also be great for the hotel to look at having it's own bistro or cafe
Review 50:It was in a quiet location which was great. I also liked my room it was slightly big which is good. And the bed was quite comfortable
Review 51:Good location, comfortable room (huge comfy bed- pillows a little bulky but that's personal choice), very helpful staff (thanks Leon) and a hotel that was recommended to us and that we would gladly recommend on to family and friends. Handy to local shops, but peaceful & quiet. The Little National News was great addition to room- very informative with great articles- thank you. Lounge and library lovely also. Our only negative was that we would've liked to have tried one of the eateries connected to the hotel group but due to the time of year visited (Christmas/ New Year) it was closed but maybe that will be a good reason to come back again!!
Review 52:The bed was very soft. Anyone with back issues should avoid the hotel or at least enquire about the mattress types
Review 53:Very clean rooms and friendly staff . We booked and arrived within 30mins and got a great deal
Review 54:Had to go to a "French Bistro" over the road in order to get an expensive but quite ordinary buffet breakfast. Service there was very slow to deliver cups of coffee.
Review 55:Not a lot
Review 56:I was not allowed to check in early despite being told that the hotel was very quiet whilst I was staying there. The pillows are very soft, I would like the option of a hard pillow.
Review 57:Love the rooms, the bed, the added extras (T2 tea, cookie, the bathroom supplies). Love the view and love the communal areas.
Review 58:Was tricky to find the address and there is insufficient detail about the parking arrangements and restrictions. Parking is not free onsite and street parking is metered.
Review 59:The beds, decor, features, peacefulness were exceptional. Location perfect for us.
Review 60:I hated the big pillows. I hated the fact that the quilt was too hot and there was no alternative. I liked the clean modern feel, but the hates defeated the likes , and I booked for two nights but only stayed one.
Review 61:Only one side access to bed so not good if the person on far side has to get up during night.
Review 62:Quiet and convenient location with several attractions walking distance.
Review 63:No in house facilities had to return food to the kitchen @ the Realm room too small and closed in - this made me feel very anxious I couldn't wait for morning to come
Review 64:Friendly staff
Review 65:The smallness of the room and the frosted glass walls of the bathroom meant that I didn't feel like I had enough privacy in the bathroom.
Review 66:Great beds and nicely designed space. Very nice modern hotel and the free coffee was good stuff. Really nice communal areas
Review 67:bed very good but a little soft for my back. Staff helped me , as best they could with this problem.
Review 68:close to art gallery, high court , bus route and other attractions. close to Kingston shops with excellent choices for eating out. BY close I mean 11 minutes walk.
Review 69:Difficulty getting out of bed in middle of night Charging for parking during the week when there is plenty of street parking
Review 70:Great Bed Really quiet location Ideal for one person
Review 71:Many of the leisure facilities were located across the street at another Realm property, of which we were not informed ahead of time; overall the hotel can feel rather empty when facilities were not introduced. Direction to room following direction on wall may was the most direct route. Bike hire facility is a great idea. I was however discouraged by the price.
Review 72:The building is new, clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly. While the room may be a bit small compared to a conventional hotel room with lounge seats/TV arrangement, there is a large library for relaxation outside of your room.
Review 73:Room very tiny, no restaurant, no incentive to dine in sister restaurant across the road. No pool, again across the road access, no instruction about to get there etc.
Review 74:Loved the free movies and comfortable bed. Shower, bathroom were very nice. The view was also nice, it was nice romantic getaway.
Review 75:No food on site. Having to pay $12 for parking. We arrived very late so difficult to find alternatives.
Review 76:Comfy small room for a quick stop over in Canberra. Excellent value at the discounted rate ($119).
Review 77:Bed way too soft and pillows too large...I ended up with a sore back and neck. Also, the comforter/quilt was way too hot.I was either too hot with,or too cold without it.Not a good sleep.
Review 78:Nice sparkly new hotel.
Review 79:Access to realm hotel across the road makes this a fantastic stay. Many facilities and friendly staff there. At little national itself, I've never had such a quiet, comfortable sleep in a hotel. Great view. Serene feeling. Impressive design. Smelt lovely. Library beautiful. Well priced.
Review 80:too much door slamming in the night. may have been from a linen store room accessed by staff ??? no free parking was disappointing
Review 81:rooms fitted with modern interior
Review 82:Elevator stopped working kinda messed up our schedule
Review 83:Best bed ever! Free movies, beautiful views, bar, lounge, library and parking on the premise, exciting things to play around with. Definitely going back just to sleep on that bed
Review 84:Only positive feedback from us
Review 85:Friendly and helpful staff, clean, new hotel, free movies, free Foxtel, clever design, the library, the bar, easy parking, close to everything, being able to charge meals at the Realm precinct restaurants to the hotel room, free newspapers, very reasonable prices given the quality of the hotel.
Review 86:No food at all at the hotel was a nuisance, but I assume that will be fixed shortly.
Review 87:The room, location was excellent. It is clearly a very new hotel. Luxurious bed.
Review 88:Check the bill carefully. The computer thought I had breakfast at the (not yet present) restaurant.
Review 89:Super friendly empolyees, very new and great design.
Review 90:Size of room is fairly small, like a studio apartment but for a short stay for a young couple it was perfect
Review 91:The most comfortable bed I have ever slept on! Very new, contemporary decor.
Review 92:Housekeeping could pay a bit more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning the rooms.
Review 93:The efficiency of the check-in, the modern room facilities and the amazing king size bed.
Review 94:Layout of room means access to only one side of the bed.
Review 95:Lovely room which was all new, big picture window, comfy bed, large shower. Easy parking and bar/food just across the road. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Review 96:A little small but fine for overnight stays, air conditioning set to 19-21 degrees so a little cold
Review 97:Free movies, modern and clean, close to parliament house, bed very comfortable
Review 98:This is a small criticism BUT the bar had no tonic water , no lime or lemon!!! a very small selection of drinks. Dan the barman did he best to compensate and he is to be commended to delivering snacks and a complimentary Perrier.
Review 99:The room was thoughtfully designed with excellent use of space. The bed as the feature of the room was incredibly comfortable. Room appointments were state of the art. Free coffee, tea and chai - Thank you!!!
Review 100:The bed set up, a little difficult for window person to go to the toilet during the night however
Review 101:value go money Plenty of parking Quite central Comfortable
Review 102:Absolutely NO Complaints!
Review 103:The Hotel room was cosy yet styly, with all the mod cons you could ask for! Located only a short 10 min stroll to Manuka Village's good eats, bars and shopping mall. Close to many of Canberra's attractions whilst a nearby bus stop gives easy access to CBD. More boutique than some of the pretenders I have stayed in - I was most pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend!
Review 104:No access to fresh air — windows are deadlocked, not a slit could be open. You'll have to breath in the harmful air-con supply. Expensive internal parking (but you can park for free not far away). No meal options, no breakfast.
Review 105:Wonderful staff, were able to resolve corporate payment problems easily. Modern, clean and a good set of amenities. Electronic controls (various lighting and curtains). Wall-size window directly behind the bed — enjoy the view or close with curtains. Convenient bathroom, large shower section. Free overnight parking can be found a short walk from the property.
Review 106:Only thing I wasnt biggest fan of is having to scan card to get to yr level in the lift..and if you wanted to meet someone to go down and get them but very minor inconvinience and pretty standard these days...and everything else was above perfect anyway
Review 107:The bed lived up to reviews-comfiest bed I have ever slept in! And electronic blackout curtain and welcomed with a relaxing sleepy herbal tea with tea set and the decor and surroundings feel so peaceful...I love the inside courtyard views down the corridors...everything was practical but also nice to look at and use. Amazing showerheadnice soaps...love the library space..I wish every hotel had that! And the burger/pizza/bar across the road I a one minute walk and had great food! One of the best places ive stayed!
Review 108:Great location - I felt very safe walking around the streets nearby. The rooms were well equipped, very comfortable, and I had a wonderful view of the area.
Review 109:The funky clean rooms, the comfy bed, the wall to wall window and the total black out blinds........and of course.........................the many movies to choose from for those who aren't quite ready to shut their eyes. Quiet location and easy access to Parliament House and central points.
Review 110:Best hotel we've ever stayed in across the globe. My partner and I travel extensively for work and happened to be in Canberra for a friends bday dinner. The best thing about this property is they are not trying to be something they are not. Small boutique
Review 111:Climbing over partner to get out of bed. But since the bed was so large we slept across the bed instead of lengthways. This partly solved the situation although not altogether convenient for older guests.
Review 112:Liked the library area as a place to read or work.
Review 113:The bed may be inconvenient for couples, and there's no on-site dining or breakfast options, but this wasn't a problem for me.
Review 114:Beautiful clean rooms, great shower, complimentary TV and Wifi, and the hotel was in the perfect location for my trip. Staff was extremely helpful and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Review 115:The gaps under the doors should be less. The doors to rooms close with great force and noise. The rug on Level 5 tripped me up; or - more specifically - my suitcase.
Review 116:The library, the free movies and the shower heads.
Review 117:Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in. Maybe not so good for couples unless you want to crawl over your partner to get out of bed. However, for me, it was perfect!
Review 118:The room was 15C on arrival and toilet was blocked. But they quickly upgraded me to another room.
Review 119:Very soft bed. Very modern. Comfortable. Free WiFi and movies!
Review 120:I booked this hotel prior to my wedding due to the proximity to the reception venue. The staff were so helpful and accommodating in every possible way, and the bed was so comfortable which allowed me some much needed rest after the wedding!
Review 121:We stayed there mainly because of the good price. It was actually quite far from where we usually stay but we had a car so it didn't really matter. The area is quiet with no shops or facilities that we could see. The design of the room meant one person had to climb over the other person to get in or out of bed. Not very practical.
Review 122:It's brand new and beautiful, with all the latest mod cons, like very effective black out blinds, a modern bathroom with cool shower etc
Review 123:It was raining during my stay and there was a tapping of raindrops on the window (or something) which was very loud during the night.
Review 124:Rooms are small but not cramped. What they lack in space they make up in amenities. Good layout, great for business trips.
Review 125:Wine should be provided as part of the mini bar!
Review 126:The bed is like a big, magical cloud, the dressing gowns provided make you feel even closer to heaven. The rooms are on the small side but very comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Looking forward to the restaurant opening downstairs, as that should give the hotel a bit more atmosphere.
Review 127:the bed is hard to access if you are a couple, fine for one person. An explanation of techno buttons in a hotel directory would be good (we inadvertently signalled no servicing of room needed, without knowing)
Review 128:location and new. library area. parking problematic at times. only free parting at night. a bus nearly reversed into my car as I entered off National Circuit as it appeared to enter the forecourt and not be able to drive thru.
Review 129:I found the bed and pillows very uncomfortable so I didn't sleep well. They are extremely soft, and I personally like a firm bed/pillow. I wouldn't stay here again only for that reason, otherwise the place is great.
Review 130:It's a really nice place, very well set up for solo business travellers (which wasn't us though, so we were a little cramped in our room, but not problematic). The common area was very thoughtfully set-up and we hung out there a bit. Very clean and the staff were very welcoming.
Review 131:Check in staff, friendly enough and helpful (or so I thought), check out gentleman not at all. I was on a budget and asked to pay up front on check in, which the staff told me had happened-not a holding fee, but actually make payment. When it came time to leave it was 'held' and payment had not been made, and I was requested to pay again, for which I didn't have the funds and I couldn't access the funds 'held'. Staff member was rude and not at all helpful, I was made feel very embarrassed and payment (via my mother remotely) was made extremely difficult. The experience with this staff member will not have me or anyone I know back at this motel.
Review 132:good location and comfortable bed
Review 133:Compact room with everything you need. If you need some space, head to the guest library to spread out - we were the only ones in there the majority of the time.
Review 134:The hotel is brand new and has a beautiful design. The rooms are not big, but perfectly laid out. The very comfortable King bed in front of the window must be difficult to make for the domestic staff. There is a big library for guests to use as office space. Parking in the garage under the hotel.
Review 135:The rooms are a bit small and claustrophobic, but I found I got used to it.
Review 136:The bed was amazingly comfortable and there were lots of small things like the personalised greeting on the tv, free movies and bathrobes that made an enjoyable stay.
