Reviews for Acropolis Select

Review 1:The only thing that I didn't like, was that I had to prepay for my stay by card. That I didn't find it very polite.

Review 2:Good location, clean and very friendly staff.

Review 3:We could hear almost everything happening outside the room. They could use some sound proof doors and windows.

Review 4:Excellent location, very nice and helpfull staff, excellent value for money.

Review 5:there is a no slipper. the beds are very uncomfortable.air conditioner doesn't work very well and the balcony is unusable.there is no photos from bathroom and it's really bad.

Review 6:just location

Review 7:Perfect location , comfort. This hotel is one of the best I experienced in Athens. Located 5 min walks from the Acropoli metro station and 2 min from Sogrou-fix. Very clean always perfectly. Bed was very comfortable, the overall furnishings functional and nice. Personnel very friendly

Review 8:The room was freshly painted, we had smell it for 3days and the balcony was looking at a busy road, so it was really noisy (because the Greek love to speed and use the horn all time).

Review 9:Breakfast was good enough for 3 mornings, nice staff, good location (close to the Metro and other public transports)

Review 10:Nothing bad to say. Some of the larger "Luxury Hotels" should come here for lessons.

Review 11:The location is good, the facility is very good, the rooms are nice and clean as a whistle, the comfort of the bed was acceptable. The breakfast was good with a great selection. The staff were, to a person, friendly and helpful. I was very impressed.

Review 12:Rooms facing the main road are a bit noisy, but can manage.

Review 13:The position is great and the room always clean. The staff has been very nice and informative, especially Rania and the male colleague working in the afternoon at Reception.

Review 14:No bad experience, but "nothing to write home about" regarding facilities and cleanliness. The view was to a street, quite as I had asked, with nothing to see. Do not plan to sit on the (small) balcony.

Review 15:Convenient Location: between the Acropolis and the FIX metro stations, 3-4' minutes from each. Walking distance to the Acropolis, Syntagma, Zapeion, Placa, bus lines to the sea, trolley lines. Very reasonably priced. Quite.

Review 16:Walls waaayyy too thin. Could hear tv next-door like it was in our own room.

Review 17:Very convenient location. 12 mins walk from the plaka. Tram and metro stops 2 mins walk away. Extremely helpful staff.

Review 18:Old deco, shabby bathroom, mattress and pillow not very comfy. No towels in bedroom, they did apologize but when arriving at 3am feeling tired and grubby stepping out of the shower and finding no towels the apologies were a bit late!!

Review 19:Breakfast was good

Review 20:The walls are rather thin n can hear next door. Can hear clearly Toilet bath next door. Very difficult to sleep at night when neighbours return back to room late when we were asleep n awaken by the neighbour's bath.

Review 21:Hotel Recep staff were very friendly n helpful. We're knowledgeable with good recommendations on sights n restaurants. Excellent location n easy access for airport via Metro n 5 min walk to Acropolis n Plaka n restaurants.

Review 22:Maybe the room was a little bit cold.

Review 23:The location is very good. The breakfast was rich and fresh over the expectation. The staff was very friendly. I reccomend this hotel for everyone. Better then a 3 star hotel!

Review 24:Walking the last block or so from the restaurant, shopping area at night was uncomfortable. The sidewalks and streets were torn up and ill lit. Be careful!

Review 25:The hotel is walking distance to the Acropolis, the museum, and the pedestrian/shopping streets. It's right on the edge of the trendy area, Our first room was tiny, on the fourth floor with a miniscule view of the Acropolis. Upon our request we were moved to a larger one, pleasant without the "view". Both had large balconies, very nice.

Review 26:The staff. Not friendly enough for someone like me that know nothing about public transportation so he advice me to go to airport by taxi. And the rate he told me is 10 € more than the driver said. I luckily paid directly to the driver

Review 27:Location. Closed to. Acropolis. Within walking limit

Review 28:The room was adequate but the beds were "rock" hard and woke every morning with a back ache.

Review 29:The staff were accommodating and very pleasant. The location was within walking distance of the Parthenon and the Acropolis.

Review 30:The staff was gracious, and went beyond their call of duty, particularly when we had a problem with needing airline boarding passes at the end of our trip (the desk clerk just got on the phone with the airline and had them sent directly to the hotel's printer).

Review 31:The bed was firmer than I like but I think my sleeping problem was more jet lag than bed.

Review 32:The hotel is close to a number of restaurants and is an easy (a subjective adjective) walk to the Acropolis and several other historic sites. The breakfasts are very good--cereals, eggs, pancakes, muffins, toast fruit, yogurt, plus juices and coffee. I undoubtedly left off some items I don't eat. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

Review 33:Beds were hard. Restaurants allow smoking.

Review 34:Close to good restaurants/shopping/tourist sites & Metro. Staff was very helpful and they were able to get us good cab drivers. Hotel location was great. Most things were within walking distance.

Review 35:Hotel is situated in side street, but there was a big noise each morning. It is not the hotel's fault, but it was quite annoiyng.

Review 36:Great location. Walking distance to Acropol and Plaka. Clean, nice room. Standard breakfast.

Review 37:A good hotel For Fair Prices. I have stayed 7 times at the "Hera" hotel 100 meters away. The Acropolis select is 35% less expensive and Still is a good place to stay.

Review 38:Everyone on the staff was very helpful my wife broke her leg at the acropolis and everyone we dealt with went out of their way to make the time in Athens as pleasant as possible.

Review 39:Was just an overnight stay on the way back from Mykonos to Canada. I was happy to have a kettle in the room and coffee and tea. That was a great bonus as I arrived late and left early.

Review 40:N/a

Review 41:Staff was amazing and the hotel was super clean. In the morning the concierge gave us a lot of tips and recommendations about ferries, etc. We had an amazing stay.

Review 42:This hotel was a let down after staying at several other hotels on previous nights in other European cities (Venice, Rome). All we really needed was a comfortable bedroom to get a good night's sleep before an early trip to the airport, and this room seemed a bit "sleezy". For example the floor was a plastic linoleum which bounced as we walked. We didn't want to take our shoes off.

Review 43:The location was convenient...

Review 44:Price was a little more than we would usually pay, but you're paying for the location really so can't complain.

Review 45:Nice room, great location 5 min from metro and 10-15 min from the Acropolis, helpful staff, no problems really!

Review 46:The location was just perfect...minutes walk to Plaka where most of the sightseeing places are. The staff were very warm and welcoming and the breakfast was good. The rooms were good, although the showers could do with a little update but apart from that I had a great stay and i would definitely return to this hotel.

Review 47:Our only non-positive feedback is that the beds were a little uncomfortable.

Review 48:Perfect location just a few blocks away from the Acropolis, Plaka and plenty of great restaurants. The staff were incredibly friendly and we enjoyed having breakfast there each morning. This is also located on a quiet street which was appreciated :-)

Review 49:The beds are typical to Greece- hard and low. The tub is also tiny as it is a sitting bathtub- not a full length, so sorry but relaxing in the tub after a long day will not happen unless you need to sit while you hose yourself down with the powerful shower head. The neighborhood- while very close to the attractions, is still a bit shady. When first trying to find the hotel we were approached by a man who hopped off of his motorcycle, parked it in the middle of traffic and insisted on giving us directions (at that point I already knew where we had to go but he was very passive aggressive). The man insisted we follow him, kept checking to make sure we were behind him, and when he saw the hotel demanded a tip which I was happy to deny. This is apparently typical to the location so just beware.

Review 50:This was my third stay in Athens so I'm pretty familiar with how the streets work but Acropolis Select is still a bit difficult to find if you're walking from the Akropoli Metro station. However, the maze of streets is just the nature of the Athens, and Acropolis Select is actually VERY close to Akropoli station. Once you find the hotel, it'll be easy to remember the directions and it is about a 5-7 minute walk to the Akropoli Station on train line 2 (Ellininko/ Agios Dimitrios- Agios Antonios). The Plaka and Parthenon and food is very close- all less than 10 minutes away by foot. I only stayed for one night as I had an early ferry but it was pleasant and clean and we received a friendly greeting while also being able to check in early when our room was ready. The next morning, because of the close location, I was able to catch the first train and was in Piraeus in a very short time. Very convenient location if you want to be close to the Parthenon and acropolis attractions, and also a metro line. Very clean. Wifi was provided for free and was strong. Would return.

Review 51:I was assigned to a room with a double bed, which was small and crammed with no balcony. The tv was on the dresser and you had to look sideways to watch it. I would have preferred a room with a balcony.

Review 52:The location was ideal to the Acropolis and the red bus, so that was perfect.

Review 53:First I thought it was me, but no, the bed was really, really uncomfortable! No electricity plugs near the bed nor in the bathroom. The breakfast buffet was really mediocre.

Review 54:Professional and polite Reception Staff. Great location. Walking distance to the city historical center and very close to the subway station and other means of transportation to connect with the airport.

Review 55:Breakfast could be improved with more variety and perhaps some fresh fruit.

Review 56:Location was excellent, very close to the main attractions. Room was of good size and bathroom spacious.

Review 57:The air conditioner is right in front of the bed, so be ready to get cold.

Review 58:The stuff is friendly and ready to answer any questions anytime. The location is excellent, so it takes just a small walk to reach Acropolis.

Review 59:the hotel was too busy, due to high season and our room was in front of the stairs and the elevator, so there was a lot of noise from guests.

Review 60:the staff was very helpful. When we complained about the neighbours making noise, they acted immediately upon.

Review 61:They forgot to submit slipper to us.

Review 62:Their staff specially Mis Matina had very friendly behaviour. They replied to our all question patiently and like a tour guide. Hotel have excellent location. Breakfast quality was ok. The bed was tidy and every day room service make clean the room.

Review 63:Air conditioning system slow and noisy. Bathroom too small Towels smelled of detergent. Not enough towels. Towels and linnen old and should be replaced.

Review 64:Location Good WiFi signal in room Friendly staff

Review 65:Refusal from night staff to provide teabags for a cuppa when we returned to our room.

Review 66:Air Con very efficient, front of house staff very helpful with directions etc

Review 67:Bathroom needs update, a bit worn. And rooms have no soundproof - can hear all street noise and when neighbours take shower.

Review 68:Can walk to all major tourist attractions and restaurants. Hotel is clean and offers good breakfast with eggs in different ways, fruits, breads, yoghurt, pies. Wifi is good, ac works and tv has interenational channels. Safe box in the room.

Review 69:The room was very warm (the AC only works if you're in the room, which means it's going to be very hot by the time you're back from touring the city. Room was decently clean, the bathroom was small and could have gotten some maintenance.

Review 70:Location, location, location. Walking distance from the acropolis, 2 minutes from the subway.

Review 71:To be constructive, I think with the fresh fruit and vegetables that Greece has to offer, breakfast could be easily upgraded without major expense. Would have been nice to have the fresh peaches in season and not the ones from the tin from example, or fresh watermelon...just small things.

Review 72:The hotel personnel are just super, very friendly and they go an extra mile to help you. Location is super to visit the historic parts of Athens as there is the museum just up the road and the Acropolis just 10 min on foot. You don't need to use any public transport if you like to walk a little. I would stay at this hotel over again if I visit Athens, no doubts.

Review 73:We got in quite late (23:00) and were very hungry and disappointed that the room service was not operating for a snack.

Review 74:We got a great price last minute and had a comfortable nights stay upon our return from the islands.

Review 75:Wifi was available but can't connect the most of the times :(

Review 76:The ubication and the staff. The man on the reception at nights, whose name is Costas, was very kind, proactive and helpful :)

Review 77:rich, fresh, tasty breakfast; friendly, helpful staff; very clean; neat bathroom, nice room decor; 5 minutes walk Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, Arch of Hadrian

Review 78:We asked the receptionist to call us a cab to the airport and we were charged a flat rate from the hotel to the airport which was almost double the going rate. We felt cheated by the hotel staff.

Review 79:There was just one power outlet available in the entire room. One for each side of the bed could have been of use. We arrived at the hotel with all our batteries depleted.

Review 80:Very clean room and bathroom. For us, the beds and pillows felt very comfortable. The WIFI was strong in this room. The location is just perfect, close to the main city's tourist attractions, be that of history, shopping, or going out. It is literally 5 minute walk to Acropolis. Very safe and quiet neighborhood. Worth paying the money for the location of the hotel, but not for its facilities.

Review 81:very minor stuff - no blowdryer in washroom. Wifi was weak at times.

Review 82:great location. Lots of restaurants, shops, tourist attractions. Acropolis and Museum ten min. walk. We were a bit worried (ok A LOT worried) about heading to Athens in the midst of the crisis, but it was all good.

Review 83:The bathroom needed a few touches.

Review 84:The room was small but clean. The wifi was working well. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was quite rich.

Review 85:Bed was hard as rock, air conditioning had a plastic bottle outside that needed regular emptying as their wasn't a drain. Wifi was good when it worked, but was slow or not available during peak times.

Review 86:Great location, nice big room

Review 87:None

Review 88:Convenient location, close to Plaka and Acropolis. Much nicer area just South of Plaka rather than the more shady-feeling areas to the north of Plaka.

Review 89:Room too tiny, facilities too meager, for the price charged. Air-conditioning turns off during absence from room, so room is quite hot when occupant returns.

Review 90:Staff extremely well-mannered, smiling, helpful. Breakfast though basic but very affordable.

Review 91:The rooms were smaller than they appeared in the pictures online. We booked this room at a considerable discount. If we had payed full price we would have been disappointed. The room was fine, clean, etc. but, I'd say, a little overpriced.

Review 92:The location was good and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Review 93:We had been to the top floor and unfortunately the air conditioner took several hours to get the room cooled. This time the weather was very hot.

Review 94:The behaviour of your front desk people , they were very professional and excellent people to talk

Review 95:Other guests who made a little too much noise, but it was not a huge problem.

Review 96:A fantastic place to stay if you are visiting Athens. Location practical. Easy access to rest of city. Staff very helpful and friendly

Review 97:The elevator was stuck once with one of my friends and the response was slow and irresponsible. The wifi is so bad

Review 98:The reception is very welcoming. Very helpful staff. The hotel is clean and close to a lot of sightseeing as The Acropolis. Breakfast is good and services are really good.

Review 99:There was nothing in particular we didn't like. Maybe the balcony could have been cleaner aa it had an open drain hole which could attract insects. Double beds would have been more comfortable than putting two single beds together. Coffee and tea sachets should have been unlimited instead of a strict only two a day policy.

Review 100:The staff was just amazing. Very helpful, friendly and always smiling... The housekeeping was also fabulous. Cleaned very well. The reception staff was absolutely delightful. The location of the hotel is very good... A stone's throw away to Plaka and Acropolis. The metro station was also lesser than a minute away. Very good hotel and would definitely stay here again if back in Athens.

Review 101:Some rooms can be quite noisy. Eg our room was beside the janitors closet and was very loud when they were taking out equipment.

Review 102:Very helpful and friendly staff from front if house to the cleaning staff. All very nice and welcoming.

Review 103:The airconditon In our room is totally broken it was too hot and its drop water insid the room over our stuff and when we call the reception they didn't change the room and they send to fix it will we r in the room and after its still not working ,they write on booking.Com that they have a shuttle bus to the air port and when we ask for it the told us no we don't have we will call u a taxi with about 35 euro

Review 104:Friendly stuff

Review 105:My room needed a renewal as well as a better and deeper cleaning.

Review 106:Location really a few steps from Acropolis, museum and Plaka quarter. Reception staff so friendly and professional.

Review 107:It can be a bit noisy in the evening. Sound proof can be improved. I can hear tv from the next door easily. Breakfast is disappointing. Not many choices and we found some food not fresh.

Review 108:Very good location, walking distance to acropolis and its museum. Surrounded by restaurant and cafes. Friendly staff. Good facility.

Review 109:Lift is old and small which can only fill up to 4 people only. Electric plug is not easy to use for traveler with their converter.

Review 110:Location is good where the Acropolis is just 5 mins nearby. Free fresh fruits provided is a big surprise for us!

Review 111:location couldn't be better, very close to central metro stations and main touristic attractions, very very clean and friendly/helpful staff. definitely would book this hotel again next time in Athens!

Review 112:Nothing.

Review 113:Though not in main Plaka, it is fairly close to it and the sights. The room and bathroom were bigger than I expected. The staff is friendly and helpful for questions and suggestions.

Review 114:Bathroom very small with bathtub, not for big size people for sure

Review 115:Acropolis and city attractions are walking distance away! Safe and convenient place!

Review 116:Breakfast was poor and was not included in our room rate so we paid extra. I would say don't bother.

Review 117:The large rooms and bathrooms. Tea and coffee facility in the room. The huge terrace. Friendly helpful staff. Air con. Only minutes walk to the Plaka, Acropolis Museum etc. We weren't expecting much but were pleasantly surprised.

Review 118:In the pictures the room looks much more beautiful than in reality. We ask for double bed, but we received twin bad. The internet in the room was very very poor.

Review 119:The location, and the cleanliness in the room.

Review 120:The hotel's hot water didn't work while we were there but when we asked they gave us free breakfast to make up for it.

Review 121:This was a great hotel in a the right neighborhood. Close to everything you would want in Athens as well as being safe, clean, and not too loud.

Review 122:What I did not like is that I booked the following accommodation: 1. One room for Two Adult Persons; 2. One room for Three Adults and a Baby Cot. I was given a small two bedded room - they included a bunkbed for an adult person and the cot with the result that I could not open the wardrobe or if i moved the cot, I could not open the fridge and the door of the balcony. We were all crammed in one room that should be just used for two persons. Not even one normal bed could be added - there was no space for that. I immediately told the reception that the room was too small and asked to have a family room at an extra cost. In the evening when we returned to the hotel, I was informed that we were to change to two interconnecting rooms so I packed all my belongings. To my surprise, the next day on returning to the hotel, I found out that 1. they did not change the room into two adjoining rooms but they simply moved us to a similar room on the 1st floor and without even telling us anything, they removed all personal items from the twin room and moved them to the other adjoining room. This is very serious and this could have had very serious consequences. I am a frequent travelers and I always book my accommodation via Booking.com. This is the first time that I have lodged a complaint.

Review 123:Nothing

Review 124:Although at first arrival, the location seems to be in a bit of a rundown street, venturing out, you relaize that it is just a 5 minutre walk away from the bustling old city centre! So, going to the attractions and having a bit of a rest in between (if you like) is extremely convenient. Rania, who welcomes you with a hearty smile is amazing. It was wonderful to see how she took care of each and every guest and was eager to help out with any request you may have.

Review 125:I asked for a double bed and they gave me two singles. Hard mattress. Bathtub useless since they don't provide the drain socket and water falls all over the ground when you use the shower. The view I got from the balcony was a joke, just ugly buildings.

Review 126:Very large room with balcony and also very large bathroom. Amazingly close to Acropolis and short walk from two metro stations. Good breakfast and nice staff. Recommend for everyone looking for location, prize and fair comfort and service.

Review 127:we were told that no hot warter when we arrived at night because of the waterpipe problem, so we have to bath in the next morning.

Review 128:good location, cleaning room. big balcony~

Review 129:The hotel is kind of old. Bathroom is very small. The bed is not comfy especially the pillows are really not good.

Review 130:Location is quite good, easy to reach everywhere by metro. Nice balcony also and there are some nice restaurants nearby and open til quite late.

Review 131:very small bathroom just for one person if not less. Room with view to rush street, so loud all the time. For 3 nights they clean room only once. Having toilet restriction it was strange. They have to make sure at least trash bin is cleaned daily.

Review 132:close metro station and Acropolis. Rooms were good

Review 133:Bed was uncomfortable and traffic noise a bit of a problem but I would stay there again.

Review 134:It was within walking distance of many major sites. Staff very helpful.

Review 135:friendly and helpful staff, good location, comfortable room (no problems with noise) and they served a good breakfast. all of which meant that our 1st visit to Athens was very enjoyable. (2adults, 1child)

Review 136:Double bed was just two single beds put together and not real comfortable.

Review 137:We stayed here one night. The location is handy and the rooms were good and clean. We had adjoining rooms which was a bonus. There was a mix-up with Bookings.com and the breakfast. Our booking had breakfast included while the hotel informed us we had to pay. In the end they gave it to us anyway.

Review 138:We found some hair in the bathtub and on the floor, which we really didn't like. The bed (twin room) was too hard for me. My girlfriend said it was ok for her.

Review 139:The location itself is worth the money, near Acropolis, 2 minute walk to tens and tens of bars, restaurants, terraces. There is a shortcut that leads to the center, among souvenir shops, extremely crowed and equally pleasant. The hotel is located on a very quiet street, facing a typical greek building of flats (which we loved). FREE PARKING on the street with a little bit of luck and patience, right near the hotel. The kettle and free tea, in the room, was a very nice touch. We really enjoyed a hot cup of tea in the evening, after a long day's walk. Great breakfast!! Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel
