Reviews for Mansion Margaritis

Review 1:Excellent pension in Makrinitsa. Stefan and Vicky are very friendly and made our stay outstanding. The room, the view, breakfast - everything was perfect. A bit hard to find down a small path from the main street.

Review 2:The welcome by Vicky and Stephan was like being welcomed by old friends. The breakfast, all cooked by Vicky were the best breakfasts ever. Vicky insisted we take what was left for a picnic lunch, which we did. Stephan explained the area and suggested a day's drive through the Pelions. Overall, a memorable stay.

Review 3:If you are brave enough to visit Makrinitsa (rather challenging rout from Volos) you'll be priced by fantastic stay at Mansion Margeritis. Stefan and his wife are the best hosts I've ever met :-) The small town is awesome and you can enjoy (particularly at night) marvelous view on Volos at the see surrounded by mountains from your typical Greek old fashioned room. Unforgettable!.

Review 4:Nothing !! We have only good words about our stay

Review 5:Stephan and Vicky are the best hosts ever. They always have a nice word for their guests and welcome them with excellent homemade tsipouros. The house is well furnished with an amazing view on Volos and the see. The breakfast are very generous and tasty

Review 6:There are a few points really need addressed to make this a great stay. The signage is in Greek only, so virtually impossible for non Greeks to find, in general finding the Margaritas is an ordeal. The room whilst cost is not set up for summer guests. No fan, no Air con, no mosquito nets so a very poor sleep. Whilst a really liked the couple and their attention to their guests, I find it difficult to recommend Margaritas, certainly for the summer months

Review 7:The highlight has to be the hosts, Vicky and Stefan, who genuinely offer a warm welcome to their guests. A tsiprirou together as I arrived with friendly conversation is exactly how it should be. Not to forget Vickys breakfast, you won't be disappointed, just incredibly full afterwards.

Review 8:There were some cons, although they in no way outweigh the pros: -noscreens on the windows, so keeping out bugs was a little bit of achallenge. With no a/c, we needed the windows open for ventilation-We would have preferred a slightly larger room, and it had norefrigerator, altho our hosts gladly stored our cold food for us. -Wehad been offered a beautiful larger room, with a large bed and adownstairs jacuzzi tub. However, I would have found it claustrophobicand cold that the bed was between (very impressive) rock walls and itwould have been difficult for me to use the bathroom at night

Review 9:Pros: -Stefan and Vici are wonderful hosts, even tho Stefan'sEnglish is very limited -Vici serves a great breakfast with localspecialties -We had a magical evening outside on the veranda with theother guests (a honey-mooning Thessaloniki couple and an Israeli couple)as Stefan, a former professional musician, played the guitar and weclapped or sang along. We also drank Stefan's wonderful homemaderetsina. -We slept wonderfully, even though the window to our room wasopen and right over the veranda. -We read other reviews carefully, so weknew to watch carefully when our gps showed we were close-by. We used aparking lot on the left side of the road (assuming you are coming fromVolos) that had a sign for Margarita [only in Greek?] in front of it.And, although it was an uneven, small grassy hilly area, we managed tofit in, because we were the only car. We later found out we could haveparked in the very next cement lot to the right of the road, whichbelongs to another hotel or restaurant. If in doubt, drive a littlefurther to the town public parking. There is plenty of parking there, and it isn't really much further to walk to the Mansion. Also, thatway you can walk downhill with your luggage. (We were only staying onenight, so we put what we needed in a backpack, making hauling easier).I'm not sure if your car can remain in the town lot overnight, but,if not, Stefan and Vici can advise you what to do. No matter what, Stayhere! You won't regret it.

Review 10:Nothing, it's perfect.

Review 11:We stayed here for a couple days and it was a great experience. The place is run by a great couple who were very welcoming and hospitable. Vicky makes the best Greek breakfast. The hotel is an old building with real fireplaces that add to the ambience, but it has all the utilities of a modern building. Be warned that the place is a little hard to find as you have to climb some stairs to find it (like everything else in Makrinitsa), it would help if you printed its name in greek.

Review 12:Wifi wasn't always working but that didn't bother us much.

Review 13:The location is amazing and the view is breathtaking. We were there for a winter vacation and it was freezing cold but our room was warm and there was always hot water for a shower. The staff is friendly and their breakfast is super tasty.

Review 14:Perfect location with astonishing views, cosy greek home atmosphere, amazing hospitality of the hosts and surprising breakfast including traditional greek meals cooked by the hostess. Thank you Stefanos and Vicky for your most cordial hospitality! Our Christmas holidays in Makrinitsa were unforgetable!

Review 15:Steep stairs

Review 16:The owners are fantastic and friendly. The view was perfect and the room was cozy. The handmade breakfast was delicious. I will definitely go back again

Review 17:Mansion Margaritis is indeed a rare gem. Everything was absolutely wonderful, the location astonishing, the room was gorgeous and extremely comfortable and the views spectacular, definitely worth the climb. Perfect and kind hosts, Stefan and Vicky have welcomed and treated us more like family rather than strangers. The home made breakfast was as delicious as it was impressive. I heartily recommend this location to even the most pretentious travelers. We will definitely come back!

Review 18:Makrinitsa is only a pedestrian village. It was really hard to find it and there was no indication in English of the Hotel on the road. Access to the house it is only by foot climbing small path. Do not take heavy luggages. Access to the Parking was a bit complicated too due to a high step

Review 19:The owners are really kind and hospitable. The HUGE breakfast of Vicky was something that left us without words. Everything home made, fresh, delicious. Rooms was a flat with fireplaces, living room and jacuzzi in a very traditional house.

Review 20:The warm welcome of Vici and Stephen that lasted till the last day. Best breakfasts ever. Excellent bay views and relaxation. Very nice village to explore.

Review 21:We were only in transit and we find this place totally accidentally. Great place to stay longer. Stefan a great host and Vicky's breakfast awsome. For sure we will come back to stay longer. Wonderful place, awsome hosts. Also the view is amazing.

Review 22:Wonderful location!! Great homemade breakfast..everyday something newly baked and fresh. Wonderful couple who runs it!! Entertaining..Vicky and Stephan are super hosts!!

Review 23:difficult for the children, as they don't have space to play and also a little bit dangerous as there are a lot of stairs. also difficult to bring luggage from the parking as the Mansion is available only by stairs.

Review 24:beautiful location, with breathtaking view over Volos and the sea, very nice staff, the best breakfast in Greece prepared by Vicky. The Mansion is a museum house, very nice.

Review 25:The warm welcome by Stephanos was memorable. His hotel is at a great location with a fantastic view and the furniture is very authentic.

Review 26:Nothing, all was perfect

Review 40:Luck of air condition

Review 41:Nothing

Review 42:Everything

Review 43:View Breakfast Quitness Friendly people Makrinitsa to see

Review 44:Great location in the village. Warm welcome and help during the stay. A wonderful breakfast of fresh and local produce!

Review 45:The owners Stefanos and Viki are wonderful friendly people who made us feel very welcome. They love their bed and breakfast home and you can see the special care in all they do.Vicki collects antiques which she has throughout. Viki speaks some English. The place is situated on the hill with wonderful views over Volos. We did miss the signs and had to be directed to the parking which is on the road as you work your way up the hill to the main parking square. They helped us with our bags up from the road. They treated us to a drink on our arrival on the terrace. The homemade breakfast was amazing. We look forward to having an opportunity to return. A beautiful place.

Review 46:The only negative was the very small shower cubicle, which is due to the small size of the bathroom.

Review 47:Makrinitsa is famous throughout Greece as a virtually car-free mountain village. You'll be walking to the central square and restaurants, not driving. Archontiko Margarita is a period (listed) building, which is also the owners' home. This is a real experience of the country, not at all like fancy big hotels! Access is by foot only, 200 metres from the car park up steep paths and steps. Stefan offers to carry your suitcase, but he prefers one bag if possible! Viki cooks a fabulous Greek breakfast with pastry goods (filo type) made with eggs, cheese, meats, as well as yoghurt, fruit, pastries and cakes, and she packs up the remains for a picnic. Viki has quite good English, and it was nice to talk to her. It was harder with Stefan, who has little English but what he lacks in vocabulary he makes up in enthusiasm. We recommend the route through Portáriá village, not the direct route from Volos that our GPS chose, which is extremely narrow and hard to follow. The hotel car park can be found by forking left in Makrinitsa (200 metres before the public parking area), then drive 300 metres looking for the sign on top of the wall on the right that says ΑΡΧΟΝΤΙΚΌ ΜΑΡΓΑΡΊΤΗ and, in English, Parking.

Review 48:Its a bit difficult the parking, but in the main square there are more and its very close.

Review 49:Great place to stay. Stefano the owner is very hospitality and helpfull. The rooms are very clean, comfortable with fireplace and views to the city. They have the best breakfast I ever had homemade and tasty. They are really helpfull and friendly.

Review 50:Too hard to find Access from the car parking area was poor.anyone with a minor disability, bad knees, ankles etc NOT RECOMMENDED with poor access/steps. No signage to indicate parking area Room very very small No Refrig.no English at all. Owner speaks absolutely NO English.

Review 51:The view

Review 52:You have to walk a small distanse by foot uphill, but it sure is worth it. Leave the suitcase at home;)

Review 53:Beautiful unique place, with a fireplace in all rooms, which are tastefully and individually furnished and decorated. The owners are warm and super friendly, it feels as if you are staying with your family. They serve homemade breakfast indoor by the fireplace or outside in the sun with a magnificent view of Volos city. Birdtwitter, blossom smelle and just a small stone and grassgrowing path leading up to this property makes you really feel that you are in the countryside. A small pathway leads up to the platia og Makrinitsa and there is a private parking place just below the property.

Review 54:There was a bad smell coming from the bath because of the lack of warm from the broken heaters. But the staff solved the problem in one day.

Review 55:The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was homemade (perfect). The decoration was beautiful and the we loved the traditional scenery.

Review 56:The hospitality was incredible...it was like your home away from home.So peaceful, clean, stunning view...an amazing retreat away from urbanlife. The owners could not do enough for you....would definitely goback and soon.

Review 57:Nothing!

Review 58:Everything! Viki and Stefanos were very friendly and helped my wife a lot in refreshing her memory of the Greek language. Again thanks for that! Our room in this really excellent renovated old building was so beautiful with a great view over Volos and the sea. We liked it and will keep people and house deep in our mind. The Mansion Margaritis and its owners are jewels!

Review 59:Hotel is a true gem in the Greek tourist industry. A unique place where it is located, hospitable owners Stephen and Vicki, great views and the environment, the historical significance of the village Makrinitsa ... all hotel and holiday it seems for every referral. Makrinicia is without a doubt the most beautiful village of Pelion Stefan and Vicki hosts some of today can hardly
