Reviews for Peartree Lodge Waterside
Review 1:The breakfast facilities are provided in the pub next door. The food was adequate however it appears the dishwasher needed attention as all the. Mugs and crocks provided were "crusty". You can tell a lot by the state iof the toilets in a place and the general impression was that the pub needed a deep clean. Accommodation good! Breakfast Disappointing!
Review 2:The room was clean and comfortable
Review 3:I didn't like the fact that when they changed the bedding it didn't look clean and they didn't change the towl over
Review 4:The staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 5:there was nothing to dislike
Review 6:Clean, very comfortable, lovely bath and plenty of hot water, staff very friendly and only 5 mins drive to the centre of Milton Keynes
Review 7:Pillows, restaurant next door was not great
Review 8:Good hotel, located by the Canal with excellent views from the room, very clean and the staff were friendly.
Review 9:The room was freezing (which completely ruined the stay), the bar was under staffed . (i felt sorry for them).
Review 10:The Location next to a marina , best television in any hotel we have stayed in.
Review 11:Location, asked for a view of canal, booked late and was very pleased that both rooms had a great view. Food in restaurant next door was excellent value for money, all you could eat buffet and good choice for vegetarians.
Review 12:Didn't realise it was quite a way out of town but we were only there for one night so that wasn't too much of a problem.
Review 13:Room had lots of space, was good value for money.
Review 14:Bedroom was situated directly above the main entrance and noisy people arriving back after night out, kept us awake until 4 am !!
Review 15:The layout of the bedroom and the bathroom
Review 16:The room was perfect...bright and comfortable decor. Elegant and pristine. The staff were friendly and so helpful...printed us map where we wanted to go when we asked directions. The proximity to the restaurant was so good and the food excellent. Walks around the area were lovely. It was perfect in every way.
Review 17:The restaurant next door was poor we had to go elsewhere to eat.
Review 18:Good location overlooking the marina within easy reach of the town centre and plenty of parking
Review 19:Internet speed not great and being told not to "stream"
Review 20:Good Value , clean and looks like it has been updated. Pub next door serving good value food.
Review 21:Very warm rooms, needed to turn radiators off.
Review 22:Comfy basic hotel, well maintained. Not fancy but very clean ad value for money. Lovely view over marina.
Review 23:Nothing in particular stands out as being bad.
Review 24:Great view from room over marina. Lovely warm room on a very cold day. Proximity of hotel to both Bletchley Park and the centre of Milton Keynes.
Review 25:Nothing really, would have liked a power socket at the side of the bed for phone charger
Review 26:Nice clean Room, quality Tv, Nice bed and nice staff much better then travelodge at the same price level
Review 27:For business users the lighting in the room is too dim over the worktop. You have to read either from the bed or in the bathroom!? would be solved by providing a small desk light
Review 28:Location by canal is fantastic! Nice comfortable cozy room
Review 29:I payd with cash cause a problem with credit card so i had to pay another 50£ deposit in case of something was broken, but the next day a woman from the staff camed into our room and acused us of smoking in the room so they can keep the deposit like they were doing us a favour... If there was smoke in the room the alarm would have turn on but it didn t so they ve kept our money
Review 30:Very nice location, very good food at the bar
Review 31:Very clean room , good facilities for an overnight stay , Very helpful & friendly staff . Good value and choice of breakfast , We will use again , good location if going to a concert at Stables theatre . Thanks for a great stay . S&D Gloucester UK .
Review 32:The radiator was on full blast and couldn't be turned down.
Review 33:Very helpful friendly staff. Good clean room with comfortable bed and modern appliances. Nice view of the marina.
Review 34:Shame the hotel doesn't have it's own bar/restaurant. Getting food/drinks was a bit of a pain. You have to find table in restaurant, then go through to bar and order food and drinks carry drinks back to table then wait for food to be served. Bar was very noisy as used by general public, would have been nice to have a bar in the hotel for a quiet drink.
Review 35:Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lovely sleep. Good shower, nice to have option of bath.
Review 36:Breakfast not included in rate and bed, linen covers can atleast be changed once in 2 days. i stayed for a working week and noticed that covers were not changed.
Review 37:Hotel was alright and service was ok
Review 38:Hotel was fine. The adjacent Crown Carvery next door - separate business from the hotel - was dire. Not sure how safe we'd feel walking in the area around Netherfield where there are shops. The area the other side of the canal is better.
Review 39:Location on the canal side overlooking the Milton Keynes marina. Plenty of parking. Good Chef & Brewer pub within 15 minutes walk and also the Plough one mile along the towpath. Nice to be able to watch the canal boats motoring along.
Review 40:being woken up at 4.40 am by loud noises from room close to our room 112 luckily managed to go back to sleep.
Review 41:lovely location next to canal only 3 miles from family
Review 42:The pub next door had noisy karaoke late into Saturday night and our bed sagged in the middle. Breakfast (at the pub next door) was unimpressive for the price and some crockery and cutlery was dirty.
Review 43:Convenient location. The room was generally OK with a good shower in the bathroom.
Review 44:They had no lift Check out 10:00 far to early Restaurant wasn't nice dirty looking I didn't eat there Location if you drive its okay But location is a bit away from the center of Milton Keynes
Review 45:The room was nice clean compact and bed was very comfortable
Review 46:The restaurant/pub ran out of elements of food, on both evening meal carvery and breakfast, and had to wait for deliveries - not such a well run facility.
Review 47:Staff were great.
Review 48:The only complaint is that of the pub next door- we couldn't eat there on the Friday night but this was not a fault of the hotel. We ordered pizza from Dominos which was delivered to our room door in under 30' minutes however there is an amazing array of restaurants within a mile and a half from the hotel. Shame the pub spoilt the overall first night as would have been lovely to have sat and have a lovely meal and a few drinks before walking the few steps back to our room.
Review 49:Comfy beds- good in room facilities especially tea/coffee making and free toiletries .Couldnt fault the room cleanliness or its location overlooking the Marina
Review 50:The pub next door where breakfast was taken did not have enough staff and therefore tables were left with dirty dishes on and they struggled to keep the hot buffet items replenished. Also there was a massive problem in the evening with too few staff on the bar and restaurant.
Review 51:I asked for a room with a waterside view and that was provided. The receptionist was able to help us to find another place to eat close by and book us a table. The food there was really good.
Review 52:Evening dining in adjacent pub not very good, they were out of two of the three meats on the carvery by 8pm, the rest of the menu was very limited, and was not all available.
Review 53:Lovely location on the canal bank, plenty of parking, and the rooms were good value - breakfast was good.
Review 54:We did find the staff at the restaurant next door , apart from one male member were not very friendly and the decor at the restaurant needs updating .
Review 55:The staff very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the bed very comfy. The shower was very good
Review 56:The view from the room, of the Milton Keynes barge marina came at no extra cost. Right next to the canal walks so you can get away from the hubbub of the main road just by crossing the bridge
Review 57:Don't pay through lodge for breakfast, it's cheaper to pay in the restaurant. Breakfast was rubbish, no staff, no clean tables, ran out of food & dishes, Food was very poor.
Review 58:We were in room 105 which overlooked moorings of the barges, it was a beautiful view, room was spotless. Bed very comfy staff was very friendly & plenty of parking
Review 59:Nothing to do with the hotel, but the pub next door could be far better. Carvery food was dry and they tried to overcharge us for breakfast.
Review 60:The hotel is in an ideal location beside the canal. There are lovely walks beside the canal and it is not too far to walk to Milton Keynes. Our room overlooked the marina, it was perfect.
Review 61:Quiet and peaceful room facing onto waterside. Very comfortable and clean bedroom; everything worked well in bathroom. Breakfast in next door pub worked well.
Review 62:There was someone's poo left in the loo! Even though they said they would let the restaurant know about the dietary requirements. They didn't and I ended up paying more for something (than if I'd just walked up) for a breakfast that could only eat 1/3 of!!
Review 63:The night staff on reception were fantastic and she couldn't have been mor ewelcoming.
Review 64:If you are looking for a warm, cosy hotel with some character, then it is not. We found it easiely with google navigation, However if you count on the road signs you may take the wrong turn so beware.
Review 65:The location was planned just as a stop between locations during our journey. The hotel is modeled after american road motel and as such it served it purpose. The room looked over the nearby canal view and the breakfast wasa good english style buffet breakfast. Room was clean and well sized.
Review 66:Decent size rooms, lovely views over the canal. Comfy bed. This was fine for the purpose of our trip to see a concert. The pub next door is a bit old fashioned though and average food x
Review 67:Wonderful views of the canal from my room which was comfortable and clean. Forgot my toothbrush charger and the hotel very kindly returned this to me in the post.
Review 68:No mini fridge in room, would have been handy. Double glazing just about adequate, but slightly noisy from bar area.
Review 69:Good sized room. Excellent cost effective food next door.
Review 70:Not very impressed with the Crown Carvery next door. Took ages to get served but for the money the food was ok.
Review 71:Room was clean and beds very comfortable.
Review 72:The room was very clean & comfortable. We've gotten lost on our way to the hotel & the battery to our navigation system died; Anja, the receptionist at the time, helped us navigate to the hotel. Great staff!
Review 73:Poorly made bed with a rucked up sheet. The pub needs to invest in some brooms and ashtrays, rubbish attracts more rubbish, a bit of effort wouldn't go amiss here.
Review 74:Scenic location right on the marina, depending on room allocation. A pub and carvery restaurant attached, food was okay and reasonably priced, breakfast was fine and they have a 5 star hygiene rating. The pub was one of those rare kind in that it was open and had people in it.
Review 75:Can't think of anything negative!
Review 76:This hotel is in an excellent location, close to the centre of Milton Keynes. Our room had a lovely view of the marina. Very accommodating room with an extremely comfortable bed. Looking forward to our next visit!
Review 77:I spent 8 days in the Peartree Hotel and I was sad to leave. The staff were so friendly, smiley and helpful and the setting on the canal and Marina was amazing. There was always something happening, the boats were coming and going and the swans were so pretty 'swanning' around! Having the Inn with a connecting door meant there was always a great meal available at a reasonable price! I really recommend this Hotel!
Review 78:There were grubby marks over the back of the chair, mirrors, doors and burns/stains in the carpet. Bathroom and sheets were clean - you get what you pay for.
Review 79:This hotel is ideal for a no frills, cheap(ish) one night stay.
Review 80:A bit difficult to find( but it is Milton Keynes after all)
Review 81:excellent value for money and nice waterside rooms Adjacent resturant OK and efficient but a bit basic
Review 82:They have a direct line to a taxi service which they should RECONSIDER. On the day of our return, we needed to get to Bletchley station but we were driven to the wrong one as we didn't know there were two e.g. MK Central and Bletchley. When we got to MK Central and we realised that was the wrong one, the driver called his dispatch to fill them in and the guy at the dispatch started swearing and he was on speakerphone and implying that it was our fault for not being more specific. I believe any caby would have asked which one if they were any good at what they did. Then the taxi driver drove us to Bletchley station but he drove like a maniac as he wanted to catch another fair. At one point we were really afraid as the speed was ludicrous. We paid for the entire ride so double the amount pretty much even though it was his fault but I wasn't going to argue as I was just happy it was over.
Review 83:The staff was great, the room was nice and clean and the food was nice and cheap, well compared to London anyway.
Review 84:It's not that central but it is easy to get around by foot.
Review 85:Nice hotel with view of canal from our room. Staff were really friendly. About 40 mins to the Milton Keynes bowl.
Review 86:Breakfast was very average and had noisy work going on next door at 9am ( why not wait until 10am checkout time?... I don't get it)
Review 87:Cleanliness, location and good value
Review 88:Breakfast was overcooked - all fried eggs were hard (not runny), bacon chewy and scrabbled egg rubbery - probably hanging around too long - not a fast enough turnover.
Review 89:Good Parking Rooms clean with usual facilities - tea/coffee, hairdryer etc Handy have a pub next door doing cheap meals Good location - next to canalside Staff friendly
Review 90:All good.
Review 91:We were grandparents travelling with our 2 granddaughters. We had a connecting room. The girls loved it and enjoyed looking at the boats from the bedroom window.
Review 92:view from room window was of the bin store not nice at all , staff at breakfast where grumpy moreso the chef who was borderline rude
Review 93:the hotel was lovely staff in actual hotel very friendly n helpful room was great, clean ,well stocked tea tray, will recommend and will stay again
Review 94:Extremely noisy all through the night as walls were very thin. Everything was very basic - including the door lock which didn't make us feel very secure of a night time.
Review 95:Clean facilities, good parking & friendly staff.
Review 96:Food - bit limited with only the carvery option. Having said that, I used it - Fish, not meat - and it was well cooked, tasty. Not wanting Chips, I had Mashed potatoes. Good but bit dry due to being exposed under the hot lamp a bit too much. Veg, I inadvertently took Leeks, thinking it was Cabbage (finely chopped). Had to leave them, don't like Leeks...!! The puddings are fantastic!!! Value of food good overall.
Review 97:The Room, The Reception staff. rice of Real Ale in the pub.
Review 98:Furniture / fittings a little outdated and the fact that we only had 1 key and had to give them in so we didn't lose them but it was no real bother - just would have been nicer to have come and gone as much as we'd like
Review 99:The canal boats being outside the window
Review 100:I couldn't get the radiator to work. Bin area outside but was last min booking and it wasn't noisy or anything.
Review 101:Was good location for walk to milton keynes bowl for concert, pub next door.
Review 102:Comfortable room, very clean. Helpful staff, maps and details of gig at National Bowl we were attending were printed out ready for all guests in reception. Had a decent comfortable night sleep.
Review 103:The price of the room seemed heavily over priced for the size and location. Our room was right at the front and we were woken by people smoking directly infront of our window.
Review 104:Staff were wonderful and very helpful. Bed was extremely comfy.
Review 105:The choice at breakfast was poor, especially if you like healthy food. The cooked breakfast was both greasy and salty. On arrival I asked the receptionist to pass on a message to my two colleagues to say I would be a little late meeting them in reception. She had evidently spoken to them as they waited for me, but failed to pass on my message. This seem careless.
Review 106:The location was convenient for my work, and the room looking out on the Milton Keynes marina was pleasant. The Old Swan pub and restaurant is within 10 minutes walk over the canal and through the heart of the beautiful old village of Woughton-on-the Green.
Review 107:Small point. Beautiful view of basin would have been even better if the windows were sorted. Might have been 'misting' due to failure of glazing unit or just cleaning required.
Review 108:Peaceful location overlooking boats in canal basin. Excellent room with a comfy bed and strong shower. Décor easy on the eye. Sound proofing/attenuation good. Smelled good. Helpful receptionist. Efficient paperwork and payment systems. A decent breakfast. Well lit car park. Would go again.
Review 109:Nothing springs to mind!
Review 110:Cute location alongside a fairly busy canal with infrequent movements along it. Also 'wildlife' in and alongside canal good
Review 111:Nothing negative, although maybe the windows are in need of updating?
Review 112:Location was excellent, lovely view of the barges from our room, went for a walk. Bed was so comfy and for the price having a bath was a bonus
Review 113:the pub food next door is not great breakfast all the food is over cooked, the carvery is not as bad but had to wait for over ten minutes for more veg to be cooked, but I must add that this is NOT part of the Hotel just part of the group.
Review 114:Great hotel, Fantastic staff always cheerful and with a smiley face.
Review 115:Nothing really.
Review 116:Very clean, comfortable hotel. Newly renovated facilities meant that this place was more cost-effective. Pub next door is a bit like a weatherspoon, but otherwise quiet.
Review 117:Restaurant could be better. Breakfast a farce. Had to ask for mugs for the coffee. Had to ask for bread as none left in basket for toast. Waited ages for fried egg. Got fed up waiting so didn't bother. Problem looked like short of staff.
Review 118:Hotel right by a canal.
Review 119:Breakfast is dismal, the hotel charge £7.49 for it but you can get it direct from the pub next door for £3.49, so it's a bit of a rip off on the hotels side, the pub next door isn't great, it's tired and scruffy the breakfast was always dried out where they leave the food under heat lamps, I never bothered with the fried eggs as they were boiled rubbery looking things because of the heat lamps. You can get a carvers in the evening from the pub, it's a good price at £5.49 but if you go late in the day the veg and stuffing has dried out and turned to concrete, you would think the staff would have more pride in their product but they are young people full of piercings and tattoos, so they don't give a monkeys. The clientele of the pub looked a bit 'pikey'as well so I didn't hang around there much.
Review 120:Staff were very helpful, hotel has a good position and backs onto the marina, so a very nice aspect.
Review 121:The evening menu was ok if you like roasts , however if you wanted to spend more and get a quality meal this option isn't available. Also coffee at breakfast both mornings was lukewarm.
Review 122:A Premier Inn type quality hotel, which means, good and value for money. overlooked the canal boat marina which was cute. breakfast next door - part of same chain- was value for money.
Review 123:The plates and cutley at breakfast were very dirty and most customers end up complaining to have them cleaned again
Review 124:Value for money hotel close to the event we went to Its very beautiful at night with the tinted lights
Review 125:Price issues over the breakfast - but the breakfast was enjoyable none the less.
Review 126:Being near the canal. Good night sleep, good shower, clean and well maintained.
Review 127:we were placed over the dustbin area, smelly and noisy.the restaurant/ pub was grubby and smelt. The iron board in the room was pathetic. But the room it's self was not too bad and the staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 128:Broken fan and warm room even with windows open and early delivery van made far too much noise at 6.00am. Not the best thing after a long 6 hour drive.
Review 129:Room was very warm wen had windows open put fan on and it was broken shower wasn't cleanist but overal staff very friendly lovely location would come again bed was amazing.
Review 130:Every one is always so helpful and nothing is too much bother. We don't drink tea or decaff coffee but its never a problem for any member of staff to swop for us . Any questions you have are always answered with a friendly smile. As we left the receptionist said " see you again soon " as we go and stay every 3 months when we have a function in the Restaurant next door. She remembered us from last time ! Staff are great and love having a room overlooking marina as we are ex narrowboaters
Review 131:The coffee in the restaurant was not good in my opinion and cereal and fruit juice not obviously available.
Review 132:I loved the position of the hotel and the view over the canal basin. The fact that the bed was very comfortable and I slept well even on the first night which is unusual when I stay in hotels.
Review 133:The bed was very hard and both I and my husband found it uncomfortable, to the point where we were waking up with aching joints.
Review 134:Fantastic view overlooking the marina. Lovely quiet room - there was lots of noise on the other side of the hotel during the day, but we could not hear any of it once we were in our room
Review 135:none
Review 136:Friendly and warm reception staff manned 24/7. Good location for our visit to the area very comfortable bed and great shower and bathroom facilities
