Reviews for YHA Milton Keynes
Review 1:Very tatty and dated room. The windows were covered in mould. The shared bathroom was basic, dated and smelly! We didn't shower because of it! Breakfast was greasy, so we should have had the continental buffet which looked much better. You can get much more for your money in a Premier Inn and a cheaper price too which we will do next time!
Review 2:Nice lady who welcomed us. Not a bad location. Easy parking.
Review 3:Staff let in a man wanted by police for assault. The man was threatening to rob and stab everyone. It was very disturbing and one of the worst nights of my life. Had to call the police 3 times. No staff in the building and no cctv. Didn't get any sleep as didn't feel safe. Terrible place to stay.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:The fact that any strange people can come with you in room and steale or make you feel like your in danger.
Review 6:The fact that you can cook for your own and speare some money
Review 7:No wifi, poor security. Two girls in my room were very harassed and upset as a man recently released from prison caused a disturbance and was verbally abusive and threatening to two young girls. Police were phoned twice and the man was still not refused his stay. The girls were scared to stay any longer, and had to lock the door in the night as this man had threatened to break in to the room. Obviously this was a serious matter, however as far as I understand, the staff were less than supportive.
Review 8:Not bad for £19.50
Review 9:The washing facilities are not sufficient. We booked an on-suite room, but were phoned and pressured to accept a bigger room only to find that it had no washing facilities. All the men had to share two loos.
Review 10:The YHA house wine is quite good
Review 11:Winter duvet and lack of ventilation in a smelly, hot men's dormitory made this a long, uncomfortable night. The hostel is tired, dark, and the lights didn't work at all in the men's bathroom.
Review 12:Gotta love the YHA for making it into the 21st century.
Review 13:This isn't a backpackers. If there were true travellers there, Ididn't see them. What I did see were homeless people who hadcollected enough cash to put themselves up for a night or two. I sharedan 8 bed female only dorm with some girl who was completely off her headon something. Spent most of the night talking and singing to hel festand climbing between the top and bottom bunk of her space (so, ineffect, using someone else's bed as well as her own). Eventually Icouldn't stand it any longer and took my duvet and slept in thelounge floor for 3 hours. When I came back to the room at 5:30am it waslight enough for me to then see the half litre can of Stella thatshe'd drunk and was now just as everyone else was starting to wakeup, finally comatosed. I could t get out of there fast enough. Neveragain. Had I been sticking around, I don't think one shower betweenat least a dozen women isn't enough.
Review 14:It's a very low price for a stay in Milton Keynes. There is a lackof accommodation in this town (I think it's deliberately done tokeep competition out) and to consequently it's an expensive town tostay in, despite being a fairly rubbish place to visit.
Review 15:Pillow is a little bit soft. Facilities in toilets really need improving!
Review 16:Bed is comfortable. The bus stop is very close so it's easy to comute to the city centre and railway station.
Review 17:I didn't enjoy accidentally overhearing the staff laugh about one of the guests. I expect people who are in the hotel line of business to be more professional and respectful. Also, YHA Milton Keynes should really think about getting wifi - which would make the hostel even more attractive for both short and long term stays.
Review 18:Excellent location with both grocery store, city centre and public transport within walking distance. Good cleanliness in both lounge, self-catering kitchen and bathroom.
Review 19:The pillows are very soft (flat) to sleep on and the bathroom water takes long before getting warm.
Review 20:The location is excellent and the staff (the receptionist) was very friendly.
Review 21:If you something very simple, then this is a good option. Simply somewhere warm and safe to lay your head. It does what it says on the label. I would use it again.
Review 22:Usual hassles with other guests making noise in the room with mobiles & turning the light on to read whilst others are trying to sleep, though to be fair, this isn't a problem unique to the YHA.
Review 23:A unique building, with good communal areas, with a comfortable lounge.
Review 24:The smelly congested dorm, with poor ventilation. 10 adults in a tiny room, I just wonder if there is any licensing authority for some of these so-called B&B
Review 25:The lady staff. She is too good and calm even when faced with dissatisfied and angry customers
Review 26:I booked myself in a Dorm. With ten beds, some people snoring like an old Tractor, and smelling, I couldn't sleep, and they would not let me open the windows even for a minute. My nose got blocked throughout the night. One of the two toilets was blocked for three days I was there. It appears they are not checked/cleaned daily. Someone should have noticed and taken action. Cobwebs in the bathroom also proves they are not cleaned regularly.
Review 27:Staff. The receptionist I met had one of the best smiles ever experienced in England where people generally look unhappy and don't smile.
Review 28:(Only due to my preferences) but I personally did not find the dormitory experience enjoyable / comfortable. The proximity of people and movements at various times led to a restless night.
Review 29:Excellent value for money, especially for the area. Friendly staff on reception. Card payments accepted. Well stocked amenities i.e. glasses / plates in Kitchen area
Review 30:car park a nightmare when i leave at 6am....especially if its rammed and you have only 1 inch space to get past vehicles...this has happened to me twice now.
Review 31:facilities good
Review 32:Walked into the place no locks at all hours (key pad doesn't work), no lockers in room, broken ladies shower room, no wifi despite being advertised, broken light in dorm, 4 plug sockets between 8 beds.
Review 33:Only 2 power points to charge 10 people's stuff.
Review 34:Location is closish to station, cheap for taxis to get to. Beds were clean, and people were all very nice. Common room was very comfy and homley. Tesco is just over the bridge and small walk.
Review 35:Overcrowded rooms. Too many beds/people per room.
Review 36:Staff member Graeme was extremely helpful whenever I had a query. Really made the experience for me.
Review 37:Was hard to find as street signs are misleading. Check in time starts at 5pm, that is a little late. Just two toilets and 1 shower for the females. Very few sockets. No soap in self catering kitchen.
Review 38:Nice little cottage with garden, bike shed and with self catering possibility. Supermarket near. Comfortable mattress.
Review 39:Felt the premises needed just a lick of paint. To smarten them up. That said it's only cosmetic.
Review 40:Location Is peaceful and quiet. A very well kept and attractive walled garden. With good sitting areas. Comfortable lounge area.
Review 41:no catering, not even tea/coffee, make sure to take your own food/drink and towels
Review 42:comfy beds, good location, cheap price. stayed over the f1 weekend
Review 43:Gravel on car park was a bit noisy when a group left at 5.30am! Unlikely to be a common problem though!
Review 44:Friendly staff, nice common room, great value dinner, felt very rural, lots of car parking
Review 45:Only really stayed for the time I needed to sleep but all was clean, quiet, as sHould be I could easily imagine hanging out there. Had a car so can't comment on connection with public transport.
Review 46:The room temperature seems low and the standard of the cleanliness to be increased.
Review 47:I like the fact that it is affordable hotel and cheap.
Review 48:No eggs available for full English breakfast
Review 49:waiting till 17 hours to opening, and location hidden well with low indicators to arriving.

Review 94:the noise, bit basic, lack of wifi.
Review 95:location, convenience and cost
Review 96:A lot of people in the room and all of them went to sleep in different time, someone at early at noon, someone at middle of night making a lot of noise.
Review 97:Good location and price.
Review 98:The unisex shower was the only letdown of the stay, water wasnt running properly was just a drizzle so couldnt shower properly
Review 99:We went for a general stroll around the area and its beautiful scenary, the garden is lovely and everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Review 100:I did not like the room/beds; 10 beds in the same room and apparently it wasn't well aired that day because it smelled like feet when I first entered. I especially did not like the smell at the shower door. It was nice inside, toilets were clear, but for some reason only at the door to the shower, there was a weird smell that I felt was urine. If that was any kind of air freshener, you should change it. I was not given a key to my room because they "ran out of keys". The next day, apparently, the staff-person forgot all about me.
Review 101:I like the familial atmosphere, especially that Milton Keynes turned out to be a very 'lonely' modern city. It was nice to have a lounge and to sit on a table for breakfast.
Review 102:Eating tables weren't the cleanest. A shower curtain in the private showing cubical would have been helpful, so to have a dry area to get dressed.
Review 103:Very affordable in comparison to other accommodation in that area. Helpful staff.
Review 104:No wifi. No facilities for doing laundry. Unless you have private transport difficult to get around the area. Not enough showers for when the hostel is busy.
Review 105:the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nice clean hostel and comfortable enough.
Review 106:Décor was a bit dated and car parking was a bit tricky but no major problems.
Review 107:The location was excellent. We used the hostel during the British Grand Prix and the drive in was easy and pretty quick. Of an evening, we went into MK for dinner and the drive was only a couple of minutes so was perfect. Nice and quiet around the hostel. Great lounge area with lots of flexibility to store and cook your own food. Will stay here again.
Review 108:Showers and washrooms not modern, limited in number and not clean. Not on a par with other yha we have stayed in this year.
Review 109:Staff friendly, helpful. Good vfm
