Reviews for Mayfair Hotel
Review 1:We asked for a room with a view and had a room with an original parapet which blocked the view. However the room otherwise was so big and well appointed that when offered an alternative we chose to stay.
Review 2:Attention to detail with quality decor - attentive and helpful staff. Quietness of the room. The rooftop bar was classically hip.
Review 3:As per telephone feedback already provided to duty manager I found staff unprofessional. In room dining staff unable to provided accurate information about room service items, concierge provided inaccurate information about restaurants, house cleaning took the room key. I had to go and source my own teaspoons when I requested ice cream that was being stored in the hotel kitchen. The storage of ice cream occurred because huge serves arrived when I was expecting individual serves! The onus was on me as the guest to solve my own problems which were created as a result of poor advice or the actions of hotel staff.
Review 4:The room was well appointed and accommodated our family well. It was the perfect location to take our children to the local park for new years fireworks.
Review 5:Liked everything about hotel. Need more space to park car when unpacking or packing on street
Review 6:Everything was how I would expect for a recently opened hotel in the city. Great position.
Review 7:Everything about this property was of a high standard. Very tastefully decorated and the bathroom accessories were the most generous we have experienced. Bedding extremely comfortable and every care taken with all additional amenities.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Small hotel feel with very friendly staff! The hotel was beautifully decorated and rooms were of a good size , well appointed AND sound proofed to busy Hindley street. Breakfast was excellent and staff very informative about what extras were available. Snack menu at Mayflower bar was well priced and delicious . Nothing was too much trouble for all staff we encountered!
Review 10:The rooftop bar was always closed when I tried to go (admittedly it was quite late)
Review 11:The room was not small and pokey and Very comfortable. Great modern bathroom.
Review 12:Roof bar was closed due to no customers on the one night we decided to check it out! (2 night stay).
Review 13:Location, friendly staff, toiletries and room comfort.
Review 14:The quality of the hotel, the friendliness of the staff, nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend The Mayfair, this is my second time and of all the hotels in Adelaide, I personally feel this is the best Adelaide has to offer
Review 15:The ceiling height throughout the hotel is too low; no balconies; no windows in main restaurant; no pool; and badly designed gym with no windows.
Review 16:The staff were friendly and courteous.
Review 17:The quality and selection of th breakfast buffet was quite disappointing. Was one of the things I was really looking forward to, and the selection and quality let you down.
Review 18:Super comfy bed, nice and modern facilities and nice dark room
Review 19:A beautiful hotel that pays attention to the smallest of details. Total luxury, it was a pleasure staying here. Beds are very comfy, they have done a good job eliminating most of the city noise with double-glazed windows, bathrooms are stunning with quality products, and the location is ideal!
Review 20:Room size a little small. No window view. Breakfast very ordinary for the price we paid.
Review 21:Excellent location. Interior quite new. Overall quite comfortable. Reasonably priced.
Review 22:It was a little expensive. Non-Australian accent in lifts making recorded announcements - very irritating and unnecessary.
Review 23:Great location right next to Rundle Mall, opposite a tram & bus stops, near the railway station. Very comfortable beds and pillows Friendly and helpful staff who were not overbearing. Fresh, clean and modern
Review 24:Not applicable!!!!!!!!
Review 25:Excellent reception &restaurant staff. The mattress in our room was the most comfortable we have ever slept on (wish we had looked for a brand name but forgot!) everything about the hotel is perfect. The car parking at Wilson is ideal & transport by tram to the entertainment centre (free) was perfect! The style and ambience of the restaurant was not over the top & felt "friendly". What a change to the old insurance building we remember from 40 odd years ago! Will recommend this hotel to everyone!
Review 26:Wow!! What a great hotel. From the staff who were always friendly and welcoming to the comfortable beds this hotel was an absolute joy to come back to everyday. The roof top bar was also a great way to unwind.
Review 27:Nothing.
Review 28:Absolutely amazing property - great location, extremely welcome staff (infallible service, actually), brilliant décor... I could go on and on.
Review 29:Left my phone charger behind and was told I would receive a phone call on Monday 7th. It is the 8th and I haven't yet heard back. I rang a few hours after I left on the 6th.
Review 30:Very helpful and friendly staff. Room is very comfortable.
Review 31:Didn't like having to pay and leave. ...would off liked to stay longer. ...
Review 32:Staff were always nice and helpful. .room clean and organized. .location was very convenient. ..
Review 33:The staff were amazing, very friendly and wonderfully accommodating. Cannot recommend the Mayfair enough!! Don't even consider the Hilton if there are rooms at Mayfair.
Review 34:A quiet and elegant boutique hotel even though it is located in the heart of the city. The double glazed windows and the soft, deep mattress are exactly what tired travellers want.
Review 35:No valet parking and parking in the Wilson's public carpark through the hotel was a terrible experience. Our parking ticket issued by the hotel was not working. Wilson's car park customer service took a long time to answer our call, were incredibly unhelpful and hung up on us!
Review 36:Everything about this hotel was great! New decor, high quality bathroom amenities, friendly staff, excellent location, immaculately clean and one of the best buffet breakfasts we have been to!
Review 37:The first night at the hotel, my husband had a boutique beer from the fridge in the room. It was very nice and the next night when we arrived back at the hotel, he was looking forward to the same beer. It had not been replaced - nor was it replaced for the duration of our stay! Another evening, we arrived back at the hotel after concluding a business meeting, looking forward to having a quiet drink in the bar. It didn't happen. The two bar staff were extremely tardy. Despite the place only having half a dozen people there, after 15 minutes we walked out, feeling we were invisible. Not good. We parked the car in the Wilson car park, close to the hotel. On arrival, we were told that our hotel parking ticket was valid only for 72hrs and we would need another ticket after that. When we asked for the second ticket, we were told that it wasn't necessary. The next day, my husband went to the car park to retrieve the car. This ended in him being severely stressed, after being told he would have to pay a huge sum of money for parking. We had already paid for the parking at the hotel on checkout! Obviously, Wilson Parking and the hotel are not on the same page? Lift your game, Mayfair. I will not be recommending this hotel.
Review 38:In the city centre. Modern upmarket decor. Comfortable bed. Choice of pillows. Clean. Excellent toiletries in the bathroom. Would not recommend.
Review 39:The fit out in this hotel is exemplary , with great attention given to detail and no expense spared. The staff are obviously highly trained which makes for a fabulous experience. My friends who have stayed here have all had the same excellent experience.
Review 40:The room was awkward in shape, the passage between the bathroom and the wardrobe very poorly designed. Breakfast was very poor for 5 star hotel, restricted choice and quality was very poor. We chose to go elsewhere for breakfast.
Review 41:Mostly everything with a few exceptions. Staff were without exception excellent, restaurant food excellent, bar and tapas very good.
Review 42:Stains on the carpet, for a relatively new hotel it was a shame that the carpet was stained.
Review 43:Pure luxury. The location was amazing. The staff were so helpful.
Review 44:Nothing to 'not like' about this hotel.
Review 45:Beautiful luxurious hotel. Great central location in the CBD by Rundell Mall. Comfy beds and the room so quiet. Great food at Cafe 55. Friendly staff especially Brenton the concierge who was so helpful and greeted us like old friends.
Review 46:We were disappointed to discover that the roof top bar had been closed since we made the booking as it was a key attraction for us.
Review 47:A beautifully renovated hotel. The room was lovely and a good size. We also enjoyed a very tasty breakfast.
Review 48:Nothing amiss - great stay
Review 49:Great staff - excellent staff at front desk; ketaki and her colleague and fantastic concierge who helped us with our tours. Great location - bang opposite the main rundle mall street Would strongly recommend it.
Review 50:Parking and drop off was difficult. Side drop off and no on site parking not ndicated on reservation confirmation.
Review 51:Location and the hotel is nicely appointed.
Review 52:Dining experience average. Cafe 55 on hotel premises offered a good breakfast option at a more reasonable price.
Review 53:Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Concierge guys. Housekeeping was of a very high standard. Very convenient for Rundall St shopping and the tram service.
Review 54:None!
Review 55:This hotel had every thing you want from a city hotel. Excellent position, knowledgable staff, clean and one of the best beds and an excellent shower, great bar and a good coffee shop.
Review 56:Great location and close to very good public transport. Attractions within walking distance. Excellent Hotel service with very comfortable facilities.
Review 57:Absolutely wonderful attention from staff. One of the best Conscierge I've experienced - friendly, helpful. Room lovely & fantastic toiletries provided.
Review 58:We were staying in Adelaide for a Triathlon and were told we could not have our equipment (namely our bikes) in the room with us and would have to be kept in storage - just wondering what they are going to say to people who stay there when the Tour Down under is on?
Review 59:I liked the decor, very comfortable bed, clean bathroom with nice products and a good hair dryer. Staff were friendly and efficient. This is my favourite hotel in Adelaide!
Review 60:The staff were exceptionally friendly, our room was spacious with a view of the Mall and very clean, bed was very comfortable heaps of pillows. Close to everything, walk across the street to a wonderful shopping precinct.
Review 61:I would've liked better lighting in the bathroom. Having said that, for the three nights I was at the Mayfair I was able to pretend that I was 10 years younger.
Review 62:Despite the Mayfair being on one of Adelaide's busiest streets and across from the tram stop, my room on the seventh floor was extremely quiet thanks to the double glazing. The bed was very comfortable, the desk was great to work on, and the aesthetics were very appealing. The staff, especially the concierge Brenton, were fantastic and very helpful.
Review 63:One of the young girls serving at breakfast was too interested in talking to some that I presume she than helping. I had to ask twice to get some water then and to get up and go to the front desk were she walked off to and was standing and ask again. after that we never ate breakfast there again. Service makes or breaks the experience.
Review 64:The dinner service and food was above expectations
Review 65:The restaurant was very expensive for what we had. The reception staff seemed a little low-spirited or dejected about something.
Review 66:I liked the staff in the restaurant. They were very helpful and cheerful both times we had dinner.
Review 67:I wanted to take the bed home with me! And thought the bathroom was just a really good design. The water from the shower didn't flow out over the floor as often happens in hotels. Loved the decor too!
Review 68:would prefer not to provide this at this stage as the incident is being investigated
Review 69:The bed was absolutely great very comfortable the room was right on the corner looking down Rundle Mall
Review 70:Check in was ridiculous and made to feel like a criminal with photocopy of drivers licence!!! Over kill Poor waiting staff in bar
Review 71:Position.. Shower and bed
Review 72:It was advertised as having a rooftop bar but the bar wasn't open yet, bit of a let down. The shower cubicle was massive but the shower was on one wall so you had to hug the wall to shower. The shower should have been in the middle of the ceiling.
Review 73:The room was good, big bed.
Review 74:A little noise in the room.
Review 75:I had a enjoyable evening in and around the city. The hotel could not be better positioned. Can not fault the hotel. The staff are as good as can be. Thanks
Review 76:The car park is not in the same building, it is across the road, but not too far away, reasonable charges for guest.
Review 77:Convenient and central location for shopping and restaurant . Nice lobby n room decor. Bathroom and room lightings very designed.
Review 78:A small detail: Staff did not warn of summer time change and I almost missed my plane (clock in room had still the winter time...)
Review 79:Cleanliness and design. Breakfast. Location. Friendly staff (but...)
Review 80:The location is too close to Hindley Street and you encounter lots of drunk and homeless people each time you leave the hotel. The hotel has no pool and no bath tubs in the rooms.
Review 81:The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar area was relaxing and a nice place to hang out for an hour or so in between activities etc.
Review 82:Felt there should have been a bath in the bathroom. Plenty of room for one and would have been more relaxing after a day of sightseeing than a shower.
Review 83:Immaculately presented with tasteful decor. Lovely staff.
Review 84:High standard, reflected in the staff, the size of the room and the general decor of the hotel. The restaurant and it's staff were also excellent. We would recommend this hotel to others.
Review 85:On arrival would've used valet parking but unable to pull up ,no parking spaces available near entrance ...had read prior to arrival to use Wilson Car park ....ended up self parking .
Review 86:Quiet spacious room with a view . Great location for shopping and dining ....walk to restaurants ,very convenient .
Review 87:Breakfast awful 1 coffee machine for dining room of 100ppl. Furniture in rooms too large, heavy and badly positioned. Not what I call a lux hotel.
Review 88:Location was good. Very clean and fresh everywhere.
Review 89:We had requested single beds for the 4 people in our room but this was not able to be accommodated so we had to share 2 queen size beds. Also, the booking was for a party of 4 so I'd expected 4 of everything ie wine glasses, coffee cups, water glasses. We were provided 2 of each and requested for extra to be sent up, unfortunately they did not arrive. Minor impact on a great stay though!
Review 90:The Mayfair is a beautiful hotel and our experience was great. I stayed with 3 other friends and all of us were celebrating birthdays. It was a nice touch to receive complimentary Macarons and a birthday card waiting for us in the room. Great room with a view of Rundle Mall. Beautiful bathroom.
Review 91:Situation that will be taken to the management. Not happy.
Review 92:The room was beautifully appointed. The bed was like you were sleeping on a cloud! Great proximity to shops, tourist attractions, and the theatre.
Review 93:Wanted to extend my 4 night stay for one more day and it would have cost me over 500 pounds. I moved to another hotel for that one night. Also breakfast not got value for money.
Review 94:Nice hotrl
Review 95:Nothing. Everything was perfect!
Review 96:South Australian focus, bathroom and minibar products, breakfast etc. very comfortable rooms. Beautiful decor. Amazing hotel.
Review 97:I hated how they censored the Internet and blocked web pages.
Review 98:Central location in town. Very nice and comfortable rooms. Friendly staff who always tried to help.
Review 99:Mattress was too soft for my liking. Would have been nice if hotel had a heated lap/swimming pool.
Review 100:Location. Hotel itself very beautiful. Clean modern luxurious room. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 101:couple of minor issues, however quickly and speedily rectified. Well done to the team.
Review 102:Excellent location close to everything, great food. Excellent staff, very easy to deal with. Complimentary champagne for husbands birthday.
Review 103:Hotel only provides limited food selection in the breakfast buffet ! And it costs A$34 per pax. I don't think it's value for money.
Review 104:My flight arrived Adelaide very very early in the morning, hotel front desk staff was very helpful & tried his very best to find us a room for early check-in. Although the room was on the 4th floor & one side of the window was facing the wall, therefore no view, but we really appreciated.
Review 105:Parking. Not enough room here to go through our drama. We ended up paying for car park we had booked despite staff person telling us we hadn't. Ended up also having to pay for valet because no parking availability. We were on verge of walking out and going elsewhere. Not good.
Review 106:The room, the ambience, the bathroom is amazing. Great site, easy to walk to shopping and Adelaide oval and great restaurants.
Review 107:The overall room was a bit small only because they had this unmovabe marble table stuck out from the wall and it made it very hard for my hunsband to get around to his side of the bed. Don't no how larger or unflexaable people would get on, as most times my husband just climb over the bed from my side. They should include breafsst in the room deal and they would completly clean up. We didn't have breafast there because $34 a head was just to much for us.
Review 108:Love the Mayfair, Was our best stay in Adelaide, was there for 5 days and they couldn't do any more to make us feel more comfortable. The food was amazing and so much to eat. We had the carvery twice and on the first one I am sure my husband got half the cow. I had the veggies and they were so yummy, best ever for me as most places never get theveggies right. While the room was a bit samll with no draws to pull undies it was so comfortable and beauitful warm decor - love it
Review 109:The hot part of breakfast was very very ordinary. Not good value, but even if you aren't worried about the money, the food was nothing special.
Review 110:Loved the style of the room and how it was so clean and perfect. Great job decorators and house keeping.
Review 111:Buffet breakfast wasn't extensive enough.....sausages, mushrooms or baked beans. And the juice just dribbled out. Oh, and the bar fridge was too small to fit our bottle of wine!
Review 112:Gorgeous decor, large bedroom, fabulous bathroom, lovely staff
Review 113:Not exactly a bad experience but I had trouble with the lock on my door which needed repairing before I could go to my room on Saturday afternoon.
Review 114:The central location in the CBD and excellent facilities.
Review 115:The parking is a public high-rise car park, a short way down the road. The cards we were given to enter and exit the car park frequently didn't work. I would prefer if the room windows could be opened as I like fresh air. No toaster or kitchen facilities.
Review 116:Great location and very friendly staff. The bed was extremely comfortable. No street noise at night.
Review 117:The breakfast was very dissapointing. Very limited range of food, poor attendance by staff and confined location. Also had problems with bar staff and overcharging for drinks
Review 118:The room and location is fantastic. Very comfortable and well proportionedrooms. Access to the city is very easy.
Review 119:Staff were not very approachable, snobby and the parkignwas a nightmare- no parking except in a disgusting dirty public carpark, with urine in the lift and homeless people insitu- the loading bay supposedly for unloading bags (prior to you driving yourself to the public carpark) was consistently full of cabs waiting for fairs- staff were not supportive of parking difficulty
Review 120:The room and the bed, decor in the room
Review 121:location,,,great staff ,,my parents raved about how it was the best room they've been in ,,so thanx to the helpful staff who made their day ,,as it was their retirement pressie from me
Review 122:Buffet Breakfast could have been better. Could do with a small gym. Rooftop bar still not open.
Review 123:As a local, the location was excellent just on the doorstep of Rundle Mall & the night life of Hindley Street. For footy fans, this location cannot be better.Only a 10 min walk to the Oval.People looking for a short luxurious stay will not be dissapointed. Also, for internet nerds, the Wifi facilities are excellent.
Review 124:Bed was very soft due to the pillow top. It made you feel a bit too warm for a comfortable sleep.
Review 125:The hotel is really well appointed and was very comfortable
Review 126:I love the Mayfair. I travel regularly for work and it is my favourite place to stay. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by friendly, attentive staff (Chad the concierge was particularly amazing!) ensuring you are comfortable and aware of the hotels facilities. The rooms are beautifully decked out and I love the little extras - free water on your bedside and quality Appelles bath/body products. Large television and very comfortable bed. I definitely hope to visit again soon!
Review 127:A stylish, very comfortable room with a great bed. The staff were helpful, and struck the right balance between professionalism and having some personality. The hotel is well located, too.
Review 128:Only complaint I would have is when you arrive and need to check in the parking out the front is terrible. We drove around twice before we ended up parking and blocking the crossing which is not a safe option. Also because you have someone waiting in the car at the front you end up hurrying the check in progress and don't end up really listening to the staff properly. Maybe a meeting in how to improve this area would be a great idea.
Review 129:The rooms and facilities are lovely. I do like the way your room card can only take you up to your level your room is on. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was so comfy that I would like it at my house as my bed is terrible. I loved the welcome message when you turned the TV on for the first time that I even took a photo of it. Location of the building is in a great spot but the initial parking at the front for the check in process is the only fault for me at this point. Well done keep up the good work.
Review 130:Size of dressing gowns. Too small for my ever increasing waistline and body in general.
Review 131:So friendly front of offuce staff. Excellent cleaning staff. Dinner from heaven with top quality waiters. I think his nam was David. Tall in jeans and humorous, engaging and knowledgeable. One in a million.
Review 132:Disappointed with the antiquated practice of pre-authorising a large amount of money only credit card. A minor quibble, maybe but it is just so unnecessary in this day and age.
Review 133:Brilliant location, well appointed room. Extremely comfortable bed.
