Reviews for Kents Hill Park

Review 1:Room wasnt welcoming. Only 1 set of towels left in there when the reservation was for two Couldnt fill the kettle in the sink Room was cold as heating was not on Bathroom never got warm even when the heating came on

Review 2:Location

Review 3:No heater in bathroom which I found rather chilly but this would not stop me staying again.

Review 4:Very convenient as I was staying for a training course. food is very good and excellent value for money.

Review 5:cold showers, lots of noise from students at 2.00 am in the morning, smelly linen on the bed and pillowcases, only 4 channels worked on the tv, cold bathroom. no heating in bathroom a really poor experience.

Review 6:nothing

Review 7:Folk coming back from the bar in the early hours of the morning didn't seem to realise they might be waking others up with their chatter and banter.

Review 8:Lovely large room with excellent bath and shower

Review 9:The rooms are not overly comfortable and have thin walls, I was woken up early morning with the sound of people leaving or entering their rooms. The TV's are very old and barely have any channels on them, if you are staying for leisure then this isn't really an issue as you probably won't watch it, but as a solo guest this would have been nice. I found that the room was very cold in the morning and was annoyed to find that the gym was closed for refurbishment during my stay which was one of my main reasons for choosing the hotel.

Review 10:The location is good for business as not too far from the city centre and easy access to the motorway. The staff were perfectly nice & helpful and it was clean.

Review 11:They still have TV's from 1970, small old TV, so room could do with TV upgrade, also the Cleaners and housekeeping were really noisy in early hours trying to organize other rooms without any consideration for guests who are still in hotel trying to sleep so not the best feeling.

Review 12:Apartment tidy and warm was you'll expect

Review 13:rooms of very poor quality and we saw 4 different rooms between us. complained about state of room and price we paid and were met with "we don't advertise as a hotel so don't expect hotel rooms"

Review 14:gym was handy breakfast staff friendly

Review 15:The instructions for going from the reception to my accommodation were challenging - listen carefully or you may get lost! The room was run down (but clean) and it was a shame that only 2 channels worked on the TV. That's a bit poor... I didn't realise that the sports facility was a bit of a way from the rooms and you had to go outside - I had nothing suitable to wear TO the pool to cover my swimsuit and that was my fault - it would be nice if the booking details advised this.

Review 16:The room was very clean and actually rather comfortable despite appearances. The breakfast was excellent and I would stay here again if I needed a good budget option. The staff seemed very friendly when approached.

Review 17:Being woken up at 7am with loud hammering and refurbishments in the room next door to mine, too early for all that.

Review 18:convenient location, efficient check in/out, food on site.

Review 19:It's not that there's not much to like, it's just that it is a large hotel for a trg/conf purposes. Don't expect the HIlton.

Review 20:This is a good functional stopover and gvm.

Review 21:There seems to be an expectation that we've all been before. Please improve the signs and add Swallow House to the website

Review 22:The food was great and facilities although basic were clean and adequate

Review 23:My room was old and dated. The most expensive booking on my trip and the least tasteful. My bedding did not feel clean and it felt like I was staying in a dorm room.

Review 24:One particular reception staff was unfriendly and very uptight. Check in procedure should be made clear when taking the booking. Inadequate internal signs around the complex. A high tech centre with low tech TV poor reception, antiquated TV set. In the restaurant there was no indication of pricing and procedure.

Review 25:Unfortunately I can think of more faults than positive aspects.

Review 26:hot water took a long time to come through Doors closing to rooms at night are noisy.

Review 27:Straightforward accommodation as it is part of a training centre, basic but good value. Restaurant is really a cafeteria but the food is good and well priced.

Review 28:The building looked like a converted school and felt like a prison. Allocated room had a dehumidifier and workmen tools in the bathroom. Free meal was poor quality. Room very noisy. Someone tried to break into his van that night! Spotted rats behind the kitchen! Previous night accom 50% cheaper and much better all round

Review 29:Our engineer advises the following: He was offered a free meal when he moved rooms

Review 30:Very small tv which was ok but there is no excuse for most of the channels not working properly.

Review 31:Rooms are perfectly adequate, food is surprisingly good quality and the access to the gym and pool was great. Wifi was also reasonable enough to work with.

Review 32:Bed was at least 20 years old and bedding was like something out of the 70s. Awful place, would not stay again. Bathroom dirty. All badly in need of renovation - or demolition!

Review 33:Check on was efficient

Review 34:Room was freezing as the heating went off at 10pm so I had to sleep in a polar neck, pjs and hoody just to stay warm. The layout of heron house felt like a prison with little indication of where the stairs, entrances and quickest way to your room is. I was in 182 and struggled to find the stairs to go up a level and the signs took me all around the building to get to my room where I could have gone in the opposite direction and got there quicker.

Review 35:Good location

Review 36:Wasn't worth £70. Was hard to find my room. Wasn't told where to go so had to find it myself. Then had to take a detour around a building site. Room was very basic for £70 worth. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't come back again.

Review 37:The hotel doubles up as a conference centre, people where up early slaming doors, no chance of a lie in

Review 38:The room was OK but the bathroom. Remi ded me of a hospital bathroom

Review 39:Booked a hotel through booking.com. One day before the arrival found out that it's a conference center and there is no possibility to stay with children, although my booking with two toddlers been accepted. At least the lady who I spoke to on the phone on behalf of this hotel(?) told me so. Was a nightmare to find somewhere else last minute. DO NOT book this venue! It's a con!

Review 40:Pillows were dirty on the bed. The bathroom felt like I was in a hospital/mental asylum. The bed was small for a 'double size' . Bins were kept directly outside of the window. The TV was older than myself and had very limited channels.

Review 41:Newly refurbished room,1st to use but near workmen finishing rooms nearby, banging and drilling and singing started at 7.30am. television wasnt connected, thermostat on radiator came off in wife's hand when trying to adjust. small rooms!

Review 42:covenient location for Milton Keynes, cleanlines, staff friendly, bar prices reasonable, Costa coffee machine worked well. bathroom good!

Review 43:Our room (and many nearby) are right beside the cleaning staff facilities, we were awoken at 6:30am by the loud banging and conversations of the cleaning staff

Review 44:The facilitates were great

Review 45:There was no restaurant. The food available at the hotel was basic. The hotel room was dirty. Hairs were found in the cups in my room. The bedding was horrible.

Review 46:Slamming doors at 4 am. Not the hotel's fault although they could put some kind of soft closing mechanism on the door. TV didn't work in room.

Review 47:Rude staff, builders drilling through wall in room next door at 7.30am. Took two phone calls to reception and an aggressive encounter with the builders to get them to stop till 8.30am which they thought was fair.

Review 48:Not a lot

Review 49:It's a taxi ride to anywhere, £10 in a taxi to the bowl or 90 mins walk.

Review 50:Very adequate facilities, as you would expect from a conference centre. Friendly staff who like to help. Free Nuffield gym use is good.

Review 51:Maid walked into our room in the morning at 8.40am without knocking. this really annoyed me.

Review 52:Rooms were clean and fairly comfortable, (ask for a renovated room). It is a bit like student halls but if you're just after somewhere to crash for the night it's fine. Breakfast was good.

Review 53:Found very hard to find - Suggest you give customers directions beforehand. The toilet seat was broken. We nearly had a flood because the basin overflow was blocked.

Review 54:Bath, size of room

Review 55:As a single traveller I did not feel safe when walking to my room, dark hallways, far from reception and the fact that the rooms have keylocks rather than card locks which means entering and then locking your room takes longer than in other hotels. The fact that the refresh of the rooms has been advertised for more than a year and no sign of the refresh is visible yet

Review 56:Plenty of parking even if you arrive late

Review 57:The only downside was the cost of the food in the restaurant which was very high for what you received.

Review 58:The room and the facilities therein were very comfortable as were the public rooms. For a busy hotel it was also surprisingly quiet.

Review 59:The only thing bad about our stay was finding kent hill park didn't have our booking , then when they found us a room they did ask for payment which had already been paid , but staff were friendly and helpful .

Review 60:Our room was next what appeared to be a room for bedding and towel storage. From 6am on the Sunday morning we could hear the staff banging around and talking. We also went for breakfast around 9 and when returning to the room to collect our luggage for our checkout the room had already been made up. Shouldn't this have been done after we had checked out ?

Review 61:Lovely room, helpful staff.

Review 62:We stayed here to attend an event at The National Bowl. But BEWARE of the taxis! They completely rip you off. There's a taxi rank at the hotel that the staff recommend you use But they charged £20 for a 5 minute journey so insist that they put the meter on before you get in the cab.

Review 63:Nice quiet location with good facilities

Review 64:The only bad thing to say... And it's not major was the lunch! We arrived at 1300 and lunch stopped at 1400 but it didn't look very appealing as was a buffet again! We went in search of sandwiches at the bar upstairs but nothing was served so settled for crisps and of course beer... Then left earlier in search of food!

Review 65:Great hotel near Milton Keynes bowl ,a short taxi ride away which were already waiting outside for us. Reception desk very happy polite and helpful so check in was very quick! The room was good too and clean and most importantly the bed was incredibly soft and comfortable. Breakfast was your standard buffet which was also very nice and staff very friendly!

Review 66:Th room smelt damp due to water ingressing from the bathroom to the bedroom. It was the coldest room I have ever stayed in. We wore t shirts outside all evening and put clothes ON to go to bed! It was warmer outside. We were also led to believe to was nearer the the National Bowl than it turned out to be - over 4 miles - we were told 2.5. - a long walk at the end of an evening as not taxi available due to volume of people leaving bowl.

Review 67:Leaving!

Review 68:Maybe a late bar opening. TV signal was rubbish. Extra pillows for the beds would be useful.

Review 69:Good basic hotel. Comfy bed, hot powerful shower, clean. Could do with a face lift but gather that's about to happen. Staff were all helpful.

Review 70:Could not get onto the wifi network, the tea and coffee facilities could have done with being more generous on tea bags and biscuits that weren't rock hard! Also no sausages ready at breakfast (maybe they had gone earlier) also £10 for breakfast per person is pretty steep I think.

Review 71:The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 72:Paid £135 for a very small and basic twin room. This price did not include breakfast. The hotel was full which was not surprising as there was an event on at the Milton Keynes Bowl, however, the bedding smelled musty as if it had been stored for some time and was quite worn and tired looking. The valances on the bed needed washing and were stained with tea or coffee. The beds themselves need the mattresses replacing as they were lumpy and saggy. The check out time was 10am at the latest which seems early for a Sunday. Apparently it is usually 9am which is ridiculous for a hotel. We arrived just after 2.30pm but could not get any food as the restaurant was closed and the bar didn't serve food, not even snacks. Very unusual for a hotel. Also the bar closed at 11pm on a Saturday night, they were missing a trick really as many people were returning just after this from the Bowl and the bar would have been buzzing if they had remained open.

Review 73:The bar showed live rugby during the afternoon which was a bonus. There is plenty of free parking.

Review 74:The bathroom was dirty , marks around the bath. The shower head was fixed and to low. The phone in the room was filthy grim imbedded in the numbers, the bed had 1 pillow each which was very thin. No facilities after 22.00.

Review 75:At booking in the staff was very helpful and polite, the hotel had bautiful grounds.

Review 76:Located on an industrial estate not easy walking distance to anything and no bus service. Not 2.5 but 3.5 miles from the Milton Keynes Bowl and the only transport suggested was a taxi company they booked that charged us £20! The room was cold and had no heating on even though there was a frost outside and people were wearing warm coats. We asked for a heater but it didn't work. Old bed, springs sticking out. Old beige bedding. Thin duvet, thin pillows. Cold and uncomfortable :( £130 and we were told to vacate at 10am on a Sunday?!!!

Review 77:Nothing! I wish I had spent my £130 on 2 more Foo Fighters tickets and slept in the car. It would have been warmer and comfier!

Review 78:The rooms were awful, incredibly thin wools we could even hear people next door sitting their tea, so hearing them talk you could even join in their conversation as if they were in the same room

Review 79:Staff were really polite and helpful

Review 80:The actual room was fair enough but quite dated compared to other hotel rooms we have stayed in lately for similar prices and less. The tv we just gave up on it as very old and dated and not a lot of choice channel wise and what we did get was poor picture.

Review 81:The breakfast was excellent, front desk was also very polite and chatty, also plenty of parking available.

Review 82:The room was freezing cold all night and for the price of £135 I would of expected more. Breakfast wasn't included which I was aware of but I think for the price, it should of been included. There was chips in the walls and everything just looked old and worn. I've stayed in nicer hotels with breakfast for a lot less, actually for half the price. The check out was earlier than every other place I have been to; 9am is ridiculous considering the amount I paid.

Review 83:The bed was comfortable

Review 84:We stayed in Heron and sadly there was no pub, just the restuarant that was out of food with not much variety. Had to order a take away.

Review 85:The reception and staff are amazing. So friendly and accommodating.

Review 86:The price for the room was outrageous and the only reason they could get away with this was because it was the Foo Fighters weekend and everywhere else was booked up. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets didn't look clean. The shower screen leaked so we ended up with a flooded bathroom. The bar staff were rather abrupt.

Review 87:Breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 88:Our room was very cold and when we mentioned it in the morning, the manwe spoke to in reception clearly couldn't care less. Staff in the'canteen' were a bit rude and miserable and there were nosausages to go with the full English.

Review 89:Very comfortable bed with 2 pillows and a soft warm blanket to go overthe duvet. Clean and fresh throughout.

Review 90:very poor shower, so bad in fact that I didn;t bother. One of the bath towels had previous customers lipstick on it. My son and I spent one night, if it had been more I would have complained about both. Corridor signage not clear enough, and whilst I admit not being great with directions, I did get a bit lost trying to find my way from Heron to Reception.

Review 91:clean and functional

Review 92:The bed was very uncomfortable and the price was quite high - however it was a very busy weekend in Milton Keynes and so they were not charging over the odds

Review 93:Stayed here for a concert at the bowl. Was within walking distance which was useful and the access to the nuffield sports centre and pool was great

Review 94:The building was like being in a prison or old hospital. We were diverted through the building to our room as they had builders in. The room was very small and the bed was very uncomfortable. We were woken up first thing in the morning from builders drilling on the wall next to us which didn't stop. As the noise was so loud, the cleaner tried knocking but let herself in due to us not answering. But it was only 8.30am, not after check out time.

Review 95:... Nice garden

Review 96:The price! Suppose they were only cashing in on a concert but £110 for a very basic room was scandalous!! Also in the middle of nowhere so the taxi drivers were cashing in as well!!!!

Review 97:staff at the reception and on the bar were very friendly and enjoyed some good humoured banter with them.

Review 98:For £120 a night I'd expect to have a comfortable bed with a duvet and a decent shower at the least. The bed was small and uncomfortable, room was cold and the bathroom felt like a hospital/prison. TV didn't work, heating didn't work. This price also didn't include breakfast.

Review 99:Staff were friendly, and the hotel was clean as a whole.

Review 100:Its a training centre that is pretending to be a hotel. For example: A hotel bar opens until late, we returned at 11:20pm to find the bar closed but 30 to 40 people wanting to get a drink! The cost was excessive but the only one available, concert weekend at MK Bowl, hence we booked it but won't again!

Review 101:It was available!

Review 102:Please make sure all water drinking coolers have cups and are working.

Review 103:We liked the pool facilities . The breakfast was very good value. Good customer service from all Staff.

Review 104:Small TV in room

Review 105:Excellent sports facilities, clean and tidy room, powerful shower, plenty of parking, good selection of well priced food at night and in the morning at breakfast

Review 106:Nothing

Review 107:I loved the room as we had b&b for a very reasonable price!! Of £65! Me and my daughter will come and stay here more often as it was a delight.

Review 108:The Room-- The carpet was stained, as was the chair. Bathroom-- The shower rose was broken as I went to use it.

Review 109:The rest of the Hotel was neat and tidy, and the repair to the shower was repaired by the time I had returned to the hotel.

Review 110:Shower screen was falling off the wall. Couldn't open it to get into the shower in the bath. Tiles were about to fall off because of water damage in the bathroom. Needs an upgrade

Review 111:Had a covered walk way between buildings

Review 112:If there was wifi, I wasn't told about it. The place is a warren and I got totally lost on several occasions, even with the 'map'. More signage is needed. Quite noisy - walls and doors are thin.

Review 113:Comfy bed, dark room.

Review 114:The Rooms were very poor - like student accommodation and smelt of sweaty socks, I had a very poor nights sleep and it should not be marketed along side hotels as this is clearly not a hotel standard.

Review 115:Lack of WIFI - the signal was terrible, and lost my phones reception, couldn't make or receive calls until I left the building. TV was small. Rooms need a modern touch, the shower was leaking. Bed was uncomfortable

Review 116:Kents Hill was clean, tidy and practical. Staff were friendly and went out of their way. Bar was good

Review 117:No viewing hole in the door. No safe, just lockable flimsy wooden draws. Bath was very slippery even with out water and no bath mat was provided. The Wifi was either a very slow/low signal, or not there at all. You have to carry a breakfast voucher if you want you included breakfast. Why is there not a list provided to the breakfast staff, so they can tick names off??!! The normal door keys need replacing with self closing doors and cards. Finally, you feel like the building was used for something else previously as it just does not feel like a hotel. Maybe a one night business trip would be ok, but after 2 nights I was glad to be leaving.

Review 118:The gym was excellent, but it is a Nuffield Health Gym and seperate to the hotel. The breakfast was good, and seconds were available if required,

Review 119:Location n phone connection n the building is too confusing

Review 120:Only sitting area is nice outside the building mobile connection is rubbish u can't use ur phone or Internet at all

Review 121:Trying to find ;location and what building reception was in. It is like a university compass and the address does not locate you outside the building so you cannot find it on sat nav to the door. It is institutional a Conference Centre with refractory type dinning and bar upstairs. Institutional feel like a university not like a hotel.

Review 122:Staff friendly and helpful

Review 123:It was not obvious where the property was as there was a distinct lack of signs. The bed was a little uncomfortable but this does not detract from this being good value for the area

Review 124:Breakfast was excellent, staff very helpful. Access to a laundry room was brilliant & loved free access to health club.

Review 125:Tired decor, tatty carpets, dire TV service, woeful WiFi (could barely get a signal), no pressure in the shower.

Review 126:At least it was clean and the shower was hot. The bed is firm, which is fine for me.

Review 127:The bed was some what uncomfortable. I think the mattress needs replacing in the room that I stayed in.

Review 128:Excellent facility. Very good food and the staff were excellent, providing very good service.

Review 129:For £70 a night it's not that great! I've stayed in Bed and Breakfast for half the price and much better room quality and breakfast! Id recommend only for business purposes only. Wouldn't stay again unless I was working near by at Kingston

Review 130:Location was perfect for me to get to work, dinner buffet was very good. Wifi was good enough to get work done without any speed issues

Review 131:Poor quality rooms - a much higher standard is available in Milton Keynes for a similar price. Bed was uncomfortable, and squeaky, and pillows (1 each!), were flat and smelled of grease. Only 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel was provided for 2 people. The room was grubby, particularly the bathroom, which had a significant amount of limescale build up on the taps, shower head, shower screen, and the bottom of the bath - making it not very pleasant to sit in! There were also quite a few hairs around the edge of the bath and sink. The very small, old style TV wasn't tuned properly, and some of the buttons on the remote didn't work.

Review 132:Reception staff were really friendly and helpful.

Review 133:Room felt like it was from the 70s Tv was a giant piece of kit with only 4 channels on odd stations so bbc1 was on channel 5, itv 2 was on channel 3 etc Wi-Fi was intermittent but I was in the firthest room from the central hub(The wifi in the business centre was perfect.)

Review 134:The breakfast and lunch buffets were fantastic Taxi to Milton Keynes centre was only £5

Review 135:Queue of 4 waiting to check in. One of the two receptionists spent all the time chatting to a colleague/friend! Nothing says 'stuff customers' like that. Crumbs/dirt all over the desk in the room. I checked the sheets and bath but they seemed to be clean. Heating off because it was July, who care what temperature it is. 'Restaurant' was a canteen type affair. Heath club very, very tired.

Review 136:There was nothing that we did not like

Review 137:I had the best nights sleep there that I have had for ages, it was clean, comfortable and above all very quite with a fabulous swimming pool.

Review 138:There was nothing we did not like.

Review 139:The staff were most helpful and made you feel welcome. During our stay members of staff went beyond normal service standards to ensure that we were happy. We will always considers staying here when we are again in the area. Great food.

Review 140:I thought the staff were welcoming and helpful, and the room was immaculate. From the outside it is not the prettiest building but it did give us good value for money.
