Reviews for Kronos Hotel

Review 1:Our first stay we were upgraded to an ocean view room. The room was comfortable, good size, had good wifi, and our price included breakfast which was varied and delicious. There are many restaurants, stores, museums, the Venetian Fort, Morosini fountain constructed in 1628 and more in the area. Knossos is close to town.

Review 2:This was our second stay at the Kronos. Everything was good. Their linens are comfy, bed firm but not hard, I always bring my own pillows so cannot comment on those, breakfast was very good with good variety, staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are bigger than many with nice furniture and TV. WiFi works well.

Review 3:room a little "tired" / musty and double bed was 2 single mattresses on double frame

Review 4:Overall really good stay - very helpful staff - great location near harbour - great breakfast - handy parking across the road for 4 Eurros per day - bathroom and shower good. Mostly a nice hotel in great location and very good value for money.

Review 5:Nil.

Review 6:This is an excellent family run hotel. The rooms are very functional and very clean. Room 401 looks out at the sea and has a great overview of the Venetian Fort that guards the Venetian Harbour. The owner is very pleasant and a fountain of information. It is very close to the main pedestrian street that runs from the Fort through the main tourist area with a side branch to the outstanding Archaelogical Mueum.

Review 7:Noisy at night, even with closed windows.

Review 8:Central location, easy access to all places of interest. Staff was kind and helpful. Beatiful view from the balcony.

Review 9:Great location, modern and clean, staff we helpful. The location was perfect, right near the water and in the tourist area close to shops, museums and restaurants.

Review 10:The room and common places look bigger and nicer in the pics. In general it was ok but for the same price i went to a really nicer place in kissamos.

Review 11:They were helpfull at the reception went i asked for information. The breakfast was ok. It is close to the bus and Ferry station and also 100m away from the main street of bars and restaurants in the evening.

Review 12:Road noise but it was blocked out by glazed doors.

Review 13:Our room looked out to the harbour and walls. Location to the port and a short walk to centre of town and restaurants and museum was a huge bonus.

Review 14:As situated on the main sea front road, has soundproofing - there is some traffic noise (as to be expected in a city) but the lovely views compensate - fine at night with earplugs.

Review 15:All excellent (as on previous stay) Efficient and friendly staff. Very good location close to Central bus station and ferries. Lots of very good local restaurants. Clean & comfortable. Great sea view from balcony (new excavations at sea front, Venetian fortress & ferries arriving & departing from harbour). Didn't have breakfast there so can't comment but dining room looked really nice.

Review 16:Too much noise from the street and high price in comparison to what the hotel offers. Which means that a three-star hotel charges a little more than a four-star hotel.

Review 17:Mainly location with the view to the sea. Also the fact that the hotel was central with easy access to all important places of the city.

Review 18:At night you can hear the some teenagers shouting on the street.

Review 19:Great location near the sea. 10mins' walk to the main bus station. The staff are more than helpful and gave us detailed info. on all the attraction in town. Great hotel to stay in.

Review 20:There was a lot of noise from the street , caused a little problem for sleeping. It was a Saturday nite and we guess it probably is nothing unusual.

Review 21:This was a return visit to this property in the same week. We parked our rental car just outside the hotel on the street. Convenient and no problem, even though we were concerned because it is a busy street The staff is just great. Thank you Maria and Stella.

Review 22:The walls of the rooms were very thin so it was noisy, especially when we were trying to have a sleep in and other people we packing up and heading off in the mornings, we could hear many a door slam.

Review 23:The location was perfect, right near the water and in the tourist area close to shops, museums and restaurants. We were even able to walk to the car hire places with our luggage when leaving to pick up our hire car.

Review 24:Great place to stay the night before a flight. 10 Euro for a taxi to the airport, close to restaurants, sea view was nice, bed was comfortable, Stella was very nice and helpful.

Review 25:The price was a little higher compared to average Crete prices.

Review 26:Very modern and spacious room. Spending view from the balcony. Central location of the hotel. Friendly staff helping us with parking.

Review 27:The hotel is well located at just a few minutes walk to the city centre or the port. The hotel staff is very nice, food is good and the WIFI works fine. It gets connected automatically once you are in the area. I will not hesitate to stay again at this hotel and I would recommend it. Mr Kostas is always ready to give you helpful details about the city, directions etc.

Review 28:This small hotel is wonderful. Marcos will meet you at the ferry and ensure you find your way to the hotel. We were also greeted with water and a dessert. Our room had spectacular views and the staff is truly wonderful. Tiny, tiny shower (which is to be expected). Would recommend Panorama hotel to anyone and everyone!!

Review 29:The area was a little sketchy from what we are us s to. The view was of the alley. The website make this look like a very nice oceanfront option.

Review 30:The location and the value were good.

Review 31:The hotel was centrally located and easily accessible from the port on foot. The hotel was very nice and included all the amenities, including a delicious breakfast, lovely bathroom, strong wifi signal and comfortable beds. The hotel proprietors were friendly and provided us with many tips on sightseeing, tavernas, etc. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!

Review 32:We don't usually stay in quite large hotels. However the Kronos was really friendly,comfortable-with great staff and great views. We had a one night stay before catching the ferry. We were very close to the port and had a really good breakfast. All the staff ,including Nikos were really friendly and helpful.

Review 33:The staff were not very friendly and the breakfast was appalling. it cost 6 euros per person and there was nothing hardly available. the bread was replenished from the freezer and microwaved to defrost. the cereals were stale and when we went down the onky thing left was a little scrambled egg which was cold and a few pieces of cold meat. The biscuits and fruit were not even appitizing.

Review 34:The position is very good and we had a room with a good sea view and furnished balcony

Review 35:Very basic rooms with cigarette smell. We had a power shutdown from 10pm to 4am, due to this we could barely sleep. It was not the hotel's fault but they didn't even bother to apologize. explain or try to compensate for that situation.

Review 36:Location and price

Review 37:A lot of traffic on the street and airplanes starting. But with closed windows acceptable.

Review 38:Central position close to the port. Friendly stuff, clean room.

Review 39:Wasn't totally new - very 90s. Has seen better days.

Review 40:Good location but not particularly charming. The hotel is very functional and non-descript. Good for my 1 night stay before taking a ferry out of Heraklion but I wouldn't stay there for a longer period, as I imagine there are cheaper or more charming hotels.

Review 41:The room was extremely humid and also a bit noisy. The bathroom was very tiny Everything was build with very cheap materials so it's not so confortable

Review 42:The hotel was very well located, just near the old harbour and the main streets. The staff was friendly and helpful

Review 43:The bathroom had a small window that could open onto the hotel corridor. This was perfectly fine until you turned off the lights at night because when a hotel guest walked in the corridor the lights would turn on in the corridor and come through to the room because the bathroom door was frosted glass. It didn't bother us much but is kind of a design flaw in room that we were staying in.

Review 44:Everything was perfect.

Review 45:This hotel was better than the pictures. It is literally across the street from the water with a perfect view of the fort and lovely restaurants to dine on right next to the water. It's also a 5 minute walk to the pedestrian street with the best shopping. The BEST part was the amazing cheerful staff. Lovely!

Review 46:Because of a early morning flight from Heraklion we stayed the last night of our holiday in Heraklion (by taxi only 15 minutes to the airport). We requested for a room with seaview and were very happy with getting room 402; it has indeed a splendid view on the sea and old port! The hotel is close to some fish restaurants (try taverna Kastella!). The room is not large, but the bed was very comfy. and the airconditioning was quiet and good. Wifi is free and stable and fast. The staff was friendly and helpful (reserving a taxi, early morning wake up call), they had a weightmeter to check the (over)weight of the luggage.

Review 47:Absolutely wonderful staff, I had bought a piece of jewellery and forgot it in the room when I checked our, went back almost 9 hours later and they had kept it and put it aside for me. Beautiful view from the room too.

Review 48:We recieved a warm welcome and had a lovely modern room with a great view. The hotel is ideally placed for the ferries and airport as well as for the bus station for a trip to Knossos. They really cared about us.

Review 49:Convenient for a day trip, anything you could ask for from a city hotel. Hotel staff was very friendly, and kindly upgraded our room to a sea view with a corner balcony. The room was clean and comfortable. Within walking distance of the main pedestrian zone and very close to the port.

Review 50:1. The air-conditioner in one of our rooms leak water 2. the room are little bit small

Review 51:1. The location is very good, it's very near from port, and the view from our room is fantastic 2. It is very clean

Review 52:The staff is inceribly welcoming and treats you like family, being a family run hotel. Best recommendations for meals around town! Great location by the fortress by the sea and accessible for walking around town. Will definitely visit again!

Review 53:Air conditioning would have been good. With window open it was a bit noisy

Review 54:No complaints staff were very friendly, room was clean . would go back again

Review 55:This is a lovely hotel - our room had a great view over the sea, the hotel is in a very convenient location and the breakfast is fabulous. The gentleman behind the desk was really friendly and welcoming, and he was really helpful in explaining where to get the bus from and letting us leave our bags after we checked out. Definitely recommend it!

Review 56:The room we had can best be described as functional. The place lacked any sort of character (street side, on the second floor anyway) and it felt overshadowed by the surrounding buildings. Usually I'd say all we want is a clean room and a door that locks but somehow we had gotten the impression that the Kronos was a little more than that. When booking, I had thought that by booking a double/twin room, and then selecting "double room" from the following drop down menu, we were going to get a double room but apparently I was only expressing a preference and we got a twin room. We asked to be moved but were told that was not possible. We're a couple and sleeping in two single beds pushed together simply won't do so, given that, and the sparse, functional nature of the place, we decided to leave after one night.

Review 57:The Kronos Hotel is very centrally located; an easy 10/15 minute walk from the port. There is a lift, there is wi-fi, the A/C does the job and we had a balcony (facing the street which was slightly disappointing but admittedly we had booked quite late). Breakfast in the morning was grand - filling and with plenty of choice. We decided to check out after one night and the manager could not have been sweeter about it. And that was after I, expecting confrontation, handled the negotiation badly but she was calm and lovely and told us she completely understood and all was well. We spoke to the owner as we checked out (the manager's father) and he was a joy to talk to too. I could have chatted all day. Would I stay again? Yes, I would - if I was looking for a central base in Heraklion with reasonable prices. For a romantic getaway? Maybe not but if you are in town, I say give this place a go.

Review 58:we booked expensiver room with sea view but they have free room just in 1st floor where is just partitial sea view and this room was really noisy..

Review 59:room was small but clean, wifi was working, stuff in reception is great

Review 60:The bathroom shower was large and well outfitted. The entire bathroom was recently remodeled and aesthetically pleasing. Good wifi, large fridge, English language news tv, complimentary internet in the lounge to print our boarding passes, parking worked out well.

Review 63:The breakfast is uninspiring but there are plenty of places to eat nearby.

Review 64:Convenient for both the port and the city, it is a useful, comfortable and economic place to stay for a night when travelling on to other places.

Review 65:a little bit of noise in the room made sleeping not as good as it could be.

Review 66:very good location, by the sea and close to nice restaurants, close to shopping centre.

Review 67:Not being able to flush toilet paper down toilet but having to put in container beside the toilet. The first two places we stayed at spoiled us and this hotel was a bit of let down.

Review 68:Staff was helpful.

Review 69:Beds a little hard for older folk. First night's charge reserved on Cr. card prior to arrival. As we paid in cash, this caused a little concern when we saw the elevated balance. However, our bank explained the 5 working-day hold, and the amount was eventually cleared. So, no problem.

Review 70:Heraklio is a surprisingly pleasant area, and Knossis is not far away. Comfortable hotel in a central location with plenty of good restaurants, shopping area and bus depot close by. Good breakfast. Easy walk from Port if you can get a good enough map for navigation. We couldn't, so took the short taxi ride - price was reasonable.

Review 73:Nothing

Review 74:Great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. I even left a large sum of money by accident in the room and the cleaning lady kept it until I returned and made me count it in front of her to prove they were trustworthy. Very very nice people and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Review 75:Traffic noise during the night.

Review 76:Excellent location for old city. On sea front near Venetian Fort and short walk to bus station and ferry port. Good free wifi and use of safe in room. Modern shower (unusual in Greece)

Review 77:Only spending a short time here this year!

Review 78:What I loved about the Kronos is that the owners remembered us from last year and the Manager bought us up 2 bottles of wine in appreciation of us returning this year. Even though it was a short stay we were made very welcome and treated very well. Well done Kronos!

Review 79:The hotel is situated a couple of doors up from a night club and our ocean front room copped a fair bit of noise all night. Woke at 5am and it was still pumping. Great if you wanted to party, not if you needed some sleep! Breakfast was bit ordinary.

Review 80:Stunning view of the ocean from our room - couldn't have wished for better. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful.

Review 81:*Building a bit tired *Street noise (depending on room location)

Review 82:*Very good location *Outstanding hospitality *Good advice on places and events *Comfortable and accomodating environment *Good value

Review 83:It's really nice for a two-star hotel. Basic but clean and great location. Perfect for a one-night stay.

Review 84:Great location; supremely nice and helpful owners; great value for money.

Review 85:It is a great location, walking distance from the waterfront promenade, and the charming pedestrianized downtown area. It is also walking distance from the port if you are travelling relatively lightly.

Review 86:Really nice helpful staff. The room wasn't huge but well furnished with a balcony looking towards both the sea and the city. The position was fantastic - right on the waterfront and very close to the centre, all at a very reasonable price.

Review 87:Hard to find hotel parking. Accidentally park in a lower garage that belonged to neighbors and our car was locked inside. However, the hotel went above and beyond and was able to contact the neighbors so we could get our car out. They were truly amazing people.

Review 88:The view was incredible! Room 402 had an amazing view of the sea and the Venetian Fortress. Could watch the sun rise and fall every day. Hotel staff did an excellent job of cleaning and making breakfast. Warm delicious Greek pastries every morning with eggs and bacon. They also helped us with traveling and letting us know tour and bus schedules.

Review 89:We stayed here before we got on our ferry to Santorini. It is a fine hotel. Probably best described as a business hotel. The staff were very friendly and the rooms very clean. We did have a nice view from the balcony of the harbour and it was a very short walk to the town. It is a great place to stay if you have one night in Heraklion.

Review 90:Great location for getting to ferry. Enjoyable 15 min walk to downtown. Room was small but seemed to be newly renovated so it was actually quite nice.

Review 91:We had nice sea view room with view of Venetian castle. The hotel is 10 minute walk from bus station. The breakfast for 5 euro was decent. Good location to walk around town.Lots of restaurants around as well as inexpensive kebab place and min-market for beer, water and wine to drink on balcony.

Review 92:Our key criteria for a good hotel is comfortable beds. All our beds were of average quality & they sagged. Also free parking was not available as advertised.

Review 93:Friendly staff. Good restaurant recommendation. Good location near port, waterfront, restauants & museum.

Review 94:Funny smell in room, but it may have been cleaning products. Felt uncomfortable about leaving balcony door open to air it as balcony was accessible by other rooms.

Review 95:Amazing shower. So appreciated. And good location for walking to harbour wall, buses, and ferries. Designated hotel parking right next to hotel. Yay!!!

Review 96:Noisy streets! Nothing you can do about that except escape Heraklion as soon as possible.

Review 97:Great location right on the water, in the old part of town. Double glazed windows useful for the noise. Good size rooms. Very clean. Breakfast better than most places. Lovely staff.

Review 98:the hotel is in the middle of two busy roads (but with the windows closed you did not hear noise even on the first floor)

Review 99:Exceptionally friendly helpful service, clean well-appointed room, good wifi -- everything you need !

Review 100:Parking Uninspiring view of busy back street.

Review 101:Friendly, competent, helpful staff. Proximity to great harbour wall restaurants. Easy walk to city centre and markets. Clean comfortable accomodation.

Review 102:We just stayed in Heraklion for a night before traveling to Santorini by ferry the next morning. This hotel was perfect for location to the port and value. It was also walking distance to great old town restaurants and bars.

Review 103:breakfast rather poor for this kind of hotel .

Review 104:this is very nice hotel , everything perfect . Rooms nicely designed , clean and comfy . You have a great sea view from the rooms on the from ,but they are also more loud. Short walk from all the tawerns .

Review 105:We arrived before check in time as we came into town on the overnight ferry. The staff on the front desk were very accommodating and made our room available as soon as the previous occupants had checked out. The front desk staff provided good info regarding the town and nearby activities (e.g. Knossos Palace) and we booked a good value day trip to Spinalonga through the front desk. We had a room on the side street but still had great views of the sea from our balcony. Bathroom was newly renovated. Location is great, close to the centre of town.

Review 106:Bed spread had a hole in it. Nothing major, but not what you would expect.

Review 107:Location - We were stopping over for an evening between a ferry from Santorini and midday flight next day. Ideal location for that - close to the ferry terminal. Good view over the sea / harbour. Close to the main restaurant area and night life. Service - We were throwing a surprise midnight birthday celebration for one of our friends, and had bought a cake nearby. The manager volunteered plates, and a knife (which we had completely overlooked !). Great service / personal touch.

Review 108:Hallway could do with an update; the bathroom walls/door were very thin.

Review 109:Though small, our room was well kitted out and clean, with a small balcony overlooking the sea. Excellent location for exploring Iraklion's city centre and harbour front, as well as for catching the bus/ferry for onward journeys. Staff were very friendly.

Review 110:This recently refurbished hotel located across the road from the bay near the ferry terminal is a good location for a night or two in Heraklion. Easy walk to the main pedestrian street through the old town restaurant district. Lobby and rooms simply furnished with a nice breakfast room. Very helpful English speaking staff.

Review 111:You could slightly hear the street next by and the planes from the airport passing by at night, but did not bother us personally much. We were lucky that we could use one of the three-four private hotel parkings in front of the door otherwise you would have to find your own..

Review 112:The hotel was directly at the harbour with some of the best restaurants of town next by. We had additionally a wonderful view on the sea and we found the staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 113:Soundproofing between rooms and corridor and between floors/ceiling was not effective; not everyone wants to get up at 6 a.m, The shower door allowed water to flood the bathroom floor which could prove slippery and dangerous

Review 114:Easy to park in both public spree outside hotel and nominated spaces behind hotel, so easy access with only three steep steps to negotiate to enter. Small but efficient lift inside. Soundproofing to street was efficient too. Breakfast was generous and varied, good fruit and eggs.

Review 115:Nil

Review 116:Friendly staffs. Help to deal with Greek taxi! Excellent location in city Center. Only 5-10 mins walk to bus station to Knossos. 5-10 mins walk to museum. 15 mins walk to Port.

Review 117:The cleaning ladies left tons of stuff in the hallways.

Review 118:Super helpful staff. Clean. Great location walking distance to everything. Really great service.

Review 119:Was stuck with a smoking room even though I requested non-smoking. Tiny bathroom. The free parking nearby was never available. Lots of traffic noise especially since I had to leave balcony door open to help with the smoking room smell

Review 120:Convenient location next to port and restaurants

Review 121:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 122:Our comfortable room had a balcony with a beautiful view over the sea and Venetian fort. The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and multilingual.

Review 123:The location is really good, 5 minutes walking to the touristic city center (and also to the parking center). The staff is great and will help you in whatever you want! The room is pretty confortable and clean, so I was pretty happy with it!

Review 124:We selected this hotel because of its proximity to the ferry. We had a lovely side-sea view and luxurious room. We walked to the center of town and had a great dinner upon recommendation of the hotel host. The room was large, well appointed and very clean, modern. The breakfast room was pleasant and breakfast buffet offered a nice selection. We walked to the ferry with our suitcase the next day. Excellent location. The hosts are lovely people and look after details.
