Reviews for Gold Coast Golf Resort

Review 1:The hotel was run down.....what can i say...it was very upsetting as i took my husband for his birthday.....broken tiles in bathroom, toilet seat very stained i could go on.... but won't.....

Review 2:I love that area, have been going to this place since i was a child, i also stayed at this hotel many year's before....

Review 3:The dinner service in the bar finished at 6.30 and there was only one other guest there when I ate.

Review 4:A warm welcome and upgrade to apartment on arrival. The apartment was for 6 and was spacious and worth a return with a gang. I got a great nights sleep.

Review 5:The room was dated and damp . The television was old and did not work correctly It was cold in the room It needs an overhaul

Review 6:The location and friendly atmosphere

Review 7:The customer service was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfast and evening meal with generous portions, very reasonably priced.Room was large and spacious and had sea view from every aspect. Used the swimming pool and spa areas, lovely big pool, very clean and quiet. Spacious and clean changing and shower area. Lots of activities available at this resort and wish we had booked for a longer stay in order to take advantage. Situated in a beautiful area, surrounded by sea views. Beautiful beach 5 mins away at their sister hotel. Few mins from town of Dungarven. Visited The Local, a pub in the square in Dungarven with Irish music throughout the week. Plenty of shops, restaurants, hotels, banks and supermarkets in this wee town. Will go back and use both hotel and campsite facility at this resort.

Review 11:Friendly staff beautiful views from the room and not to far from dungarvan

Review 12:Bar staff poor - not very friendly and charged 2 different prices for the same round of drinks, no nighttime entertainment. Problem with cleanliness cup was stuck to saucer with stale milk, cereal bowls dirty

Review 13:Good size pool and use of sports pitch

Review 14:Could have a bit more choice on bar menu, e.g. Cooked chicken Also could offer semi skim milk at breakfast

Review 16:Decor is a little bit dated and we got food in the bar the first night and the starters and mains were all brought out together

Review 18:Dated hotel, went to use the bike in the gym and the seat was hanging off! Not very good meal in the evening.

Review 19:Lovely staff (the young chap at the bar seemed to be very new and struggling)

Review 20:Tired decor in places Small things like the front entrance door stuck on floor making getting through with suitcase awkward

Review 21:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 22:Shabby and outdated. Rubber mattress protector on the beds was a real downer. Breakfast was very bad for the money we payed for the room.

Review 23:Location is good. We had a room overlooking the water

Review 24:There restraunt lay out could be improved for evening dining no privacy with hotel guest gain entry to bedrooms.

Review 25:Dungarvan is a lovely place to stay .fabulous walks. Hotel was comfortable and clean. Food good value for money. Staff pleasant.

Review 26:The only complaint is the rooms were basic but the price is very good so you cant expect everything

Review 27:Playground, pool, tennis courts, walks.. .you dont need to leave the hotel even with kids

Review 28:The heating in the room was a bit outdated, a very fiddly heater that wasnt very warm and it was also noisy while running

Review 29:The staff were really nice and friendly and the food was very good both in the bar and for breakfast.

Review 30:loked everything

Review 31:When we arrived in the hotel we got a lovely greeting frm Mark Knowles Managing Director of the Resort. On our bed eas 2 swans made out of 2 bath towels and heart shaped lovely chocolates lovely touch. Room lovely and warm and fav views.

Review 32:The room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was fabulous. The most friendly staff. Dinner in the bar was great fantastic complements to the chief And value for money. Swimming pool lovely. Views amazing.

Review 33:The noisy room heater and the pink and yellow room colours and flowery curtains!...perhaps a visit from the Brennan bros is in order!?

Review 34:The leisure centre and friendly accommodating staff and the price.

Review 35:There was nothing that I can complain about. I am planning my next visit.

Review 36:acommodation; breakfast; staff; location suited; the Goldcoast golf resort was at an ideal location for my purposes visiting Dungavan. I am not a golfer so cannot comment on golf. But I recommend this resort to anyone who wants very good accomodation, an excellent breakfast, polite staff and a warm and very clean unit.

Review 37:The layout of the hotel is crazy. Décor dated and bar is dreary and dull. Rooms need redecorating and bed linen replaced very outdated. Needs major facelift

Review 38:Staff were very friendly apart from the male receptionist on checking in. Dining room staff were excellent attentive and accommodating.

Review 39:The hotel was virtually empty and that contributed to the ambience feeling a little tired. Should not be judged to harshly though

Review 40:Panoramic views from the room. Clean and reasonably comfortable room The bed being the weakest point. The breakfast was excellent

Review 41:Booking.com have a habit of saying pay when you stay!!! Where as monies on 3 separate occasions were actually drawn from my account days prior to staying therefore false advertising and I will only "Use" their site for viewing.

Review 42:The food, staff, facilities etc were all excellent could not fault a thing.

Review 43:Nice hotel but needs updating badly. I'm surprised the lift worked. The TV is sooo outdated. The bar area was very nice, clean with really lovely food. The staff where excellent.

Review 44:Location, location, location

Review 45:Resort was right on the coast, and although we don't play golf, we would assume that the course is good too. We ate in the Bunker Bar in the late afternoon and the food was excellent and the bar staff efficient and friendly.

Review 46:My only complaint was the bar food was not as good as it could be and a little bit more pricey for the same in dungarvan...

Review 47:I had a lovely room facing onto the bay. I had a comfortable clean room with everything I needed. A lovely breakfast. A great place for relaxation and touring the local area. The staff were great..

Review 48:This is not a new hotel and it might at first appear a little dated. But we actually found that it had charm nevertheless. Besides, everything we needed was there, it was clean and well maintained.

Review 49:Great location; we couldn't believe how beautiful and unspoiled this part of Ireland was. There were people about, but it wasn't crowded. There was lots to do with great restaurants and beaches in the vicinity. At the hotel itself, our daughter particularly loved the playground and very nice pool. The staff were really nice and made us feel relaxed (not always the case in hotels, in my experience). There was no hassle at any point. We had delicious gluten free breakfast for my husband who is a coeliac. To top it all, the Gold Coast was excellent value for money. We were down visiting relatives and will definitely stay again.

Review 50:The bed was awful so we put a duvet under us to sleep. the room was very old fashioned which we wouldn't have minded if the bed was comfortable. the bedroom needs modernizing, shabby carpet and lamp shades and I counted at least 5 pictures of birds!! curtains could do with dry cleaning too! the bathroom had a cracked toilet seat and the side panel of the bath was cracked with a hole in the side if it. Floor tiles did not appear that clean. bathroom also needs modernizing! I had two showers when I was there for 2 days and water was only luke warm both times. breakfast in the morning was nice but we had to pick up at least four cups to get one that appeared clean. Maybe a dishwasher problem?!

Review 51:The location was good and near the beach. It Was only a short drive into the centre of dungarvan. the leisure centre was lovely and had good facilities. Sauna steam room, pool and jacuzzi. Staff were friendly and food was nice. We had a good size bedroom with lovely views of the sea and boats.

Review 52:I felt the staff on reception could have been more friendly. I should have realised that school holidays had started- won't make that mistake again!

Review 53:Location

Review 54:The bed was a little hard and the bathroom needed updating.

Review 55:We had a massive room with fantastic views over the bay. Dinner in the restaurant was very good and the waitress was extremely attentive.

Review 56:The rooms are very old fashioned and overall the hotel is a bit run down. I'm sorry to say I wouldn't stay here again and I'm glad we were only here for 1 night !!

Review 57:The location and view was lovely. The pool was nice too.

Review 58:The hotel is in a great position, but it could maybe do with an overhaul to freshen it up

Review 59:Everything from moment arrived staff were so friendly and helpful

Review 60:The staff are stuck up, we were treated like dirt, the rooms were old fashioned and dull.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 104:dining options and availability somewhat limited

Review 105:Very nice room with view over bay Very helpful reception staff Swimming pool Dungarvan town Fabulous beach nearby at Clonea Strand

Review 106:This is an old hotel and we were staying due to the price, the bar is sub-par! We appeared to be the only people staying in the hotel (there were 6 of us) and there was no hot water, on advising the staff of this, there were in no way apologetic and we still had to pay full price. Distinctly average hotel.

Review 107:The price

Review 108:The room smelt quite damp and musty when we entered first but went away after opening the windows, we were on a corner of the building so had two external walls.

Review 109:Loved the location and view. We watched a beautiful sunset over Dungarvan each evening. The food was reasonable, we had the pizza in the bunker bar one evening for dinner.

Review 110:Pool area cold and wind howling through window so much so had to relocate the travel cot into wardrobe area - heating ineffective and room and bathroom cold

Review 111:Location and staff friendly

Review 112:1-room decor was tired lampshade broken crack in side of bath 2-.floor in changing room in swimming pool being cleaned while I was getting changed. 3-breakfast was disappointing

Review 113:staff were very helpful surrounding were beautiful price was very reasonable

Review 114:no music in bar rooms a bit dated

Review 115:near lovely beach no hassle to check in nice leisure and pool house keeping staff very nice peace and quiet

Review 116:It didn't really trouble me but some may be put off by the hotel décor which was a little dated. (But I must stress, clean, tidy and warm). In my room there were small defects (cracked mirror) (badly mended drawer) and (window that could open but not easily nor could it be 'locked in an open position'). However, it was very clean and the cleaning staff obviously worked hard to keep it like this. The signage to the leisure facilities were faded and could prove difficult 'to follow'. However, non of these greatly affected my stay and so these should be seen as observations rather than complaints.

Review 117:Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was very clean - kept clean - warm and airy. The breakfast was very good - food not kept hot in open buffet style but brought to the table per order and was tasty and hot with obvious good quality ingredients. Plenty of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts etc to accompany the meal. Overall, good value for money - well located - my room overlooked the bay & close to Clonea Strand.

Review 118:Restaurant rather sparse and restricted menu (3 course only at set price), hotel needs updating, particularly bathroom.

Review 119:Good size room, good location, helpful staff.

Review 120:Standard of beds/linen not good TV & channels - limited Access to restaurant/bar out of the way.

Review 121:Very friendly Restaurant v. good Food good

Review 122:Not enough attention at reception. Bar area not great.

Review 123:Size of room and aspect. Think it's a great place for families with young kids. Good value for money.

Review 124:Just stayed one night this time but would definitely return for longer visit. Golf was adjacent to the hotel as was the tennis court and football pitch. Very enjoyable stay.

Review 125:decor very dated, slightly dusty feeling, bar area was for families, this was a hotel for family groups staying in the houses - it suited these groups excellently I imagine but not any other type of visitor

Review 126:the view, the quiet

Review 127:the decor is a bit dated but very clean

Review 128:lovely setting lovely pool friendly and relaxed atmosphere. great food i am coeliac and was delighted with gluten free options.

Review 129:Hotel very tired and in need of a freshen up. Tea and coffee makingfacilities in room but no biscuits. Staff not overly friendly orparticularly helpful. On both check in and check out we were leftstanding infront of an attended desk, however the staff did notacknowledge our presence and finished whatever paperwork/computerwork they were doing before thinking to greet/acknowledge us. Hoteladvertised bicycle hire but dont actaully have many bicycles to hire andthey were all hired out the week end of my stay. The staff at theleisure centre desk didnt think to offer any information an alternativepremesis where bicycles could be hired. On website it would appear thatthe hotel is much closer to Dungarvan town than it actually is. Onbooking we requested a sea view room which we didnt get, however it wasa late booking and the hotel was fully booked.

Review 130:Nice location between Dungarvan and Clonlea strand.

Review 131:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we cannot speak highly enough of them. The location was spectacular and the golf course is a must play. Our experience, was to say the least, very enjoyable and have and will continue to recommend this hotel to everyone.

Review 132:My trip was to visit family members. As a solo traveller from the SouthWest coast of England, the staff made me feel very welcome and at home.I will definitely stay there again
