Reviews for Best Western Moore Place Hotel

Review 1:Having read reviews on Trip Advisor we were apprehensive about the hotel but were pleasantly surprised at the service offered - lovely staff, comfortable rooms, good food with wide choice and a comfortable well-stocked bar. Delighted & would recommend it to friends.

Review 2:service at the breakfast was very slow, got burned fingers as waiter didn't warned about really hot plates

Review 3:complimentary brandy decanter was a nice touch, bed was very comfortable

Review 4:I would have liked a bath... there was a gorgeous shower but that was the only negative

Review 5:Loved the building and the location. The decor was very good and the staff were fantastic

Review 6:there was no hot water, my grandfather was unable to get into his room and the bed nearly collapsed on him, there was confusion with the rooms and my parents had to sleep in a single bed together

Review 7:it was close by to the wedding venue I was attending

Review 8:On check in , incorrect rooms were allocated despite having a confirmatory email . We had continual problems during our stay . Room key cards required reprogramming on several occasions . Woke up on Sunday am to No Hot Water Or Heating . on contacting reception Maintainence were not due in until 8 .00 am .this was despite several guests alerting them at 2.00 am . Meal times were inflexible no breakfast before 8.00 am / dinner 7 pm onwards . Staff numbers were inadequate for the amount of guests . No offer of discount was forthcoming .on request .

Review 9:Rooms were of a reasonable size and beds comfortable . Easy access to the motorway . Claire on reception was helpful .

Review 10:the person on the bar was too young and on his own, we had a glass of Prosecco that was flat but a bottle was £32, we had 2 bottles of tasteless wine but the food was good.

Review 11:The lady on the front desk was very helpful with a great smile , a great asset for you .

Review 12:A gym would have been nice - also bathrooms were lacking extractor fans. As soon as you turned the shower on the mirror fogged up and the bathroom became an inhospitable room full of humidity. Towels didn't dry and because the the mirror fogged up shaving with said mirror became an exercise of sheer luck.

Review 13:Clean cheap (relative by England standards) hotel. Staff were attentive & friendly. No complaints there

Review 14:The fact that we only had 1 easy chair in a room for 2. Would prefer a hand held shower hose instead of a fixed one.

Review 15:We like the situation. The rooms are very pleasant and clean. Lovely to be served breakfast lnstead of struggling with an industrial toaater and helpi g oneself to lukewarm eggs and bacon etc...0

Review 16:Our room was smelling toilets! and the shower head wasn't functioning properly. You expect an hotel to invest in "new" feature...at least a new shower head

Review 17:Very nice country hotel in beautiful area. Nice staff. Convenient for staying 1 night or 2

Review 18:The external appearance of the hotel is most attractive. However, we were allocated a room in the annexe adjacent to the main road which was sadly quite noisy. The room was not the cleanest and the corridor still had dirty linen on the floor which was still there the following morning. Dinner was OK but we had to eat in a function room due to a wedding but the wine was pretentious and expensive. Breakfast was most certainly not worth £12.50 a head. Wouldn't stay there again sadly.

Review 19:Lights in room confusing, no ventilation in bathroom, but no big deal.

Review 20:Loved all staff - efficient, friendly, went above and beyond. Loved the food - smoked lobster pot, pigeon, wild mushrooms, chocolate dessert - excellent chefs. Nice old manor house, with nice garden even in Oct/Nov.

Review 21:Restaurant is a little bit expensive and food a little bland, had bar food next day fraction of cost and better than main restaurant food.

Review 22:Bar food, room, staff

Review 23:one glass of house wine 7 pounds which was a bit over the top, also the quality was poor. also the annex over looking the road was very noisey.

Review 24:nice clean room .

Review 25:We had booked 2 rooms 7 months before our stay and asked for quiet rooms. We ourselves were originally given a gloomy, smelly room and then moved to a very small room right on the noisy main road. Most dissatisfied.

Review 26:Very convenient for attending Seniors Masters golf at Woburn.

Review 27:Stay was too short!

Review 28:Excellent hotel Friendly staff Very accommodating... Booking.com had said it was a family room and it wasn't so they put up an air bed for our daughter! There was a wedding on and they couldn't do an evening meal so they recommended two places in the village. Went to an excellent Thai next door. Lovely stay- would recommend:)

Review 29:Didn't like the noise outside when a wedding party left just after mid night and again later in the early hours of the morning. The restarant had a limited menu.

Review 30:We liked the relaxed comfortable atmosphere. Easy parking. Helpful staff. Quiet location.

Review 31:1. Vital items missing from room e.g. form for booking early breakfast second set of towels the promised brown bag for recycling 2.Allowed us to book a table for 7pm but they weren't serving until 8pm! It was still a lovely place to stay & we would give them an other chance because the bed was excellent & the evening meal superb

Review 32:The evening meal was excellent & was served by a very efficient & friendly young lady. There were 2 weddings at the hotel, one each night but they did not impinge on our comfort

Review 33:The only down side to our stay was that our room was above the courtyard outside the reception and guests from the bar were smoking there and making a lot of noise until 3am.

Review 34:Was able to book into room early as we were going to a wedding. Ordered sandwiches for a quick lunch and these were supplied quickly. Breakfast good and service prompt.

Review 35:Front desk took a pre authorised payment from my brothers bank account even though we had told reception we wanted to pay by cash. Was told that if we paid by cash we would have to wait five days for money to go back into his bank account. At no point was we told money would be held on arrival.

Review 36:Room comfortable and clean. Spacious. Bathroom was a good size. Lovely grounds around hotel. And there was a shuttle bus service to the gig at the bowl.

Review 37:Fabulous room with huge bathroom (room 5). Clean with everything you could need including toiletries, extra pillows and towels and even a drop of brandy as a nightcap.

Review 38:Noisy wedding party when I stayed but didn't spoil the overall experience.

Review 39:Staff were superb. Location excellent for golf at Woburn. Beautiful village.

Review 40:Not allowing dogs into reception in a "dog friendly" hotel !!!

Review 41:The annexe room was excellent for a couple with a dog. A bit of a hall gave more space. The free brandy was a nice touch and interesting Also very close to the M1 I had personal issues and they handled it VERY professionally - many thanks

Review 42:Size of room - room 62 - in the annexe - although quiet it was very small. Asked for a larger room but was told one was not available.

Review 43:Quiet location - brilliant staff.

Review 44:The rooms are far too hot with no air conditioning. Having spent 2 nights at the hotel I couldn't wait to go home to actually get some sleep! No air con, just a small fa in the room. We even took our own with us after reading a few reviews about the rooms and it still didn't cool the room down. Tried with the window open but then had the noise of the kitchen extractor fan! 2 fans, didn't use the duvet and still too hot to sleep. Commented to reception and was just told we should have asked for a fan! Also stood on broken glass in the room so it couldn't have been cleaned properly

Review 45:Close to where we needed to attend a wedding

Review 46:The waitress welcoming and seating for breakfast needs to go to smile school she needs to recognise that she could turn the milk sour with the glum look on her face both mornings.

Review 47:With the exception of the breakfast waitress/welcoming seating person all the staff were friendly and helpful

Review 48:The bathroom had a broken tile with tape on it - please replace it! There was no air conditioning and the rooms were rather hot. The fans provided were not sufficiently effective.

Review 49:Liked the location and the staff who were efficient and friendly

Review 50:Stayed in a cottage which was on the lower level where we found the noise from the cottage above disturbing, especially when somebody was walking

Review 51:The friendliness of the staff and the breakfast

Review 52:Unfortunately all the taps were running incredibly hot water so too hot to be able use and get washed etc. Even the toilet was filling with hot water.

Review 53:The size of the room was very small as we had a travel cot in it which limited what little space we had as there were larger rooms on the same floor it could have been organised better,

Review 54:The gardens were very pretty and the breakfast was good value for money.

Review 55:Room was too hot. Breakfast had too long a wait and didn't have time to eat and didn't get a refund. Bathroom has no cold water in sink. Bathroom had tiles stuck down with gaffer tape making the door not close properly.

Review 56:Not a lot

Review 57:The drain plug in the bath was stuck closed which meant that the bath filled up with water while showering. It took a considerable time and careful effort turning the knob to lift the plug for the water to drain out. Suggest leaving the plug open in future.

Review 58:Very friendly staff

Review 59:we stayed in a modern additional building that was kept very hot, so was difficult to sleep and get comfortable. the hot water was so hot it was difficult to shower or wash. Staff walked in on us looking for a tv remote when my partner was naked and i was in my underwear. The restaurant was not available due to weddings. a replacement room was set up for meals but was too hot and not appropriate for purpose.

Review 60:the hotel is a lovely victorian or earlier building in a great little village. We got a rate reduced from normal price, but think these places can be often overpriced.

Review 61:For 3 nights the corridors were really noisy. We were by a fire door which kept banging when ever someone went through it. There was also some stairs in which people were very noisy going up and down

Review 62:The staff were really friendly

Review 63:Unfortunately there was a wedding on during the Saturday which did run on into the early morning , a bit noisy due to late night guests

Review 64:Nice place to have a overnight stay , in a lovely village

Review 65:Booked 6 months in advance, 5 rooms- phoned to check 4 wks before arrival, complete nightmare, rooms double booked and changed! one booking lost, so only 4 rooms! rude arrogant sales manager- no apology, eventually managed to get some rooms sorted not original ones. When arrived room changed from booked one to one out of main hotel!!! Other staff sympathetic but could do nothing all rooms booked- was most upset ruined the start of my sons wedding. Meeting with general manager- was very apologetic, and refunded one nights stay of the the 2 nights booked for the room outside of main hotel. I had all original emails and booking confirmation. Was completely mismanaged by the hotel, causing great stress, exacerbated by the rude ,arrogant and unapologetic manner of the sales manager.

Review 66:The other staff apart from the sales manager were sympathetic to our situation and were as helpful as they could be , which was appreciated .

Review 67:There were blood stains on the bottom sheet and on one of the pillows. We had also only been given 1 set of towels and when we asked the night manager for another set he reluctantly went of to get us some. But he only gave us two small towels even though we asked for one large and one small.

Review 68:Location was good.

Review 69:On saturday we had an excellent breakfast but on Sunday we ordered the same breakfast and got half the quantity of the previous day, and I do mean half. One rasher of bacon instead of two, less baked beans and they even cut the slice of black pudding in half. When we complained the staff at the reception desk made a half hearted apology. Obviously never heard of portion control

Review 70:Helpful and friendly staff, great location, evening meals in the restaurant were excellent.

Review 71:Noisy room with alarm going off and light flashing outside window. Noisy guests in courtyard are 1am but staff not willing to ask them to move inside. Refused to offer discount for inconvenience.

Review 72:In a pretty village ideal for wedding in Woburn.

Review 73:Very difficult for a young baby in this hotel had to swap room as was not on the ground floor ended up having to share a double bed with my 17 yr old daughter as we didn't get the twin room we booked

Review 74:Our room was (no.14) unfortunately this was second floor and above the air vent for the kitchen which was on all night thus making a noisy night perhaps we should have been informed of this when booking in and we could have changed our room.

Review 75:Location and helpful staff

Review 76:Grumpy night barman.

Review 77:The wonderful receptionist who sorted out an initial problem and the lady from housekeeping who handed in my watch which I'd left in the room when we'd checked out. These two young ladies negated the bar man ! Literally 3 minutes from the M1.

Review 78:The noisiest and most uncomfortable hotel experience we have ever had. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone

Review 79:The surrounding area is really lovely and there's lots to do

Review 80:Wooden window frames unfortunately prone to black mould....but not too noticeable in room as a whole, especially when curtains closed! Please clean them though! Pond needs cleaning.

Review 81:Reception and room staff very pleasant and helpful. Would have been lovely to stay longer.

Review 82:The only niggle we had was on using the shower the following morning it went from scalding hot to freezing cold whilst in use. I'm sure had we been staying longer we could have mentioned it and had it rectified as they were more than helpful with everything else.

Review 83:It was clean, really helpful friendly staff, clean nicely decorated rooms. Robes free on request & complementary mini decanter of brandy in room!! For the price paid this hotel is a gem of a find. Lovely outside areas, plenty of parking, reliable free wifi. Everything was lovely and the area beautiful. Would without doubt stay here again if staying in the area.

Review 84:A very good location for us. A comfortable, clean room. The staff were most friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the breakfast. Pity we only had an overnight stay.

Review 85:Disturbed sleep by very noisy drunks that used the smoking area outside the rooms until 3 am. Wedding party that continued to party in their rooms, bang doors and shout in the corridor until 4 am. No effort by night staff to rectify the problem.

Review 86:Staff friendly, good food, restaurant good value.

Review 87:The receptionist wasn't sure weather breakfast was included in my deal or not, in the restaurant I was given a menu with no prices on it, and the waitress didn't seem sure of the prices.

Review 88:The room was lovely, apart from the dead fly! and I did enjoy my evening meal. It was a Google location for the A421

Review 89:I feel a breakfast menu would give more choice and we had tokeep asking for more tea and coffee as the cups were small. Apart from that the buffet was adequate. We had a meal in the Saturday evening which was a disappointment. Only the chefs daily menu was available which had a choice of three items. We both had the chicken in a bacon sauce which was tasteless and the vegetables were floating in oil. Deserts were limited and nothing special. We were told there was only two chefs working that evening. The normal larger menu was not available for that reason. This is a lovely hotel with lots of history and character. Unf the food let sit down.

Review 90:Free upgrade with four poster bed. What a lovely surprise that was. The staff are very helpful and friendly.. Beautiful gardens and pretty village location. Near Woburn abbey and Bletchley park.

Review 91:Early breakfast (ended at 10am on Sunday)

Review 92:Value for money Good size room and bathroom Quiet location Nice bar and lounge Friendly and helpful staff

Review 93:Poor breakfast service. Kept too long waiting to be seated then ignored at table. Hot food delivered to table and left while still half way through cereal. Ordered fried egg, got poached.

Review 94:Upgrade due to room booked online not available. Reception staff helpful and friendly

Review 95:Room felt smaller than expected with all furniture in. Shower was stuck at a luke warm. Evening meal was average and overpriced.

Review 96:Staff friendly and showed great anticipatory service levels. Bed was comfortable and ample parking in nice grounds.

Review 97:Was refused access to restaurant told large business group to cater for had to eat out when returned to hotel large group still at the bar (most of them were NOT guests) Hotel needs to focus on paying guests who expect a service even when they are only one person. Room cold radiator needs bleeding to allow the hot water to enter, HOT water in shower dangerously hot with no way to apply more cold. Room not very clean room 6, also noisy hotel. Breakfast over cooked and dry no taste, stick with toast and cereal. I have stayed here before and this is the worst experience.

Review 98:Wifi

Review 99:If we had any complaint the radiator was quite noisy.

Review 100:The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful - we changed rooms then back again and they were still smiling! Our room was well cleaned and adequate for our needs. Plenty of hot and full pressure hot water.

Review 101:Didn't think the bar service was good. The bar man was clearly inexperienced and took him forever to serve 2 drinks, good thing the bar wasn't busy, more training needed I think. Breakfast was good but the cooked food should have been hot and not Luke warm.

Review 102:Room was lovely but nothing more than expected for £144 per night. Reception staff were helpfull and friendly, nice touch with the complimentary drink in our room.

Review 103:Room doors slam when shut. Breakfast staff appeared nervous/unsure of what they should be doing (not all!)

Review 104:Room/Bathroom - very spacious and comfortable

Review 105:perfect stay, just not a lot i walking distance apart from the pub :)

Review 106:From walking through the door we was welcomed with a smile and talked through dinner times etc. The room was perfect, bed comfy and shower was amazing. When i woke up in the middle of the night i went down to reception to get some water and again was greeted with a smile by a young guy who quickly got me a cold jug of water to take back to bed with me. couldnt recommed the place enough

Review 107:Cold room, radiator off in winter. Didn't warm up all night, duvet paper thin and sheets didn't fit bed. Soft mattress. Dreadful nights sleep.

Review 108:Only thing we liked was a hot shower to warm us up

Review 109:Noises from people in room above - every movement could be heard. Also the service at breakfast was less good - no toast and we had to repeat our order several times in order to get it right.

Review 110:The setting and main building

Review 111:We'd booked for Valentines weekend and were aware that it was likely to be busy. I rung up in the week to ascertain whether I needed to book a table for dinner on the night we arrived and was informed that there was no need to book and we'd be fine. Upon arrival we confirmed the at reception and again were told that there was no need to book and that we could jut come down for dinner between 7-9.30. When we did go down, the restaurant informed us that they were upper busy and we should've booked. She said she could potentially fit us in after half an hour but it was clear she didn't really want to - she encouraged us to go for bar meals which we fancied the look of more anyway. Back in reception we were told this was fine, then by the manager that we could only have sandwiches for dinner unless we went back to the restaurant. We informed him of the situation and he then said the chef had run out of almost everything on the bar menu. There was a wedding on and I've worked in this industry for years, so understand the pressures this can cause- but there was no acknowledgement that we'd been misinformed and no real offer to help. Either wait for the menu we didn't really want or try the Indian restuarnat next door. We went to the local pub which was a saviour - they were SO helpful, and sorted us out even though their kitchens were closing. The food was delicious and exactly what we needed after a long drive!

Review 112:The room was nice - clean and comfortable.

Review 113:No smoked salmon at breakfast two mornings on the trot. No vegitarian breakfast option but other than that breakfast was good.

Review 114:Peaceful location and in easy reach of the stables, milton keynes and bletchley park for our weekend activities.

Review 115:My cooked breakfast was brought to my table before I had a chance to finish my cereal.

Review 116:It was an ideal location for me having had a meeting in nearby Woburn and then needing to stay somewhere close to the M1 for my onward journey the following day.

Review 117:Kept up most the night by very noisy floor boreds, from the room above us , hotel blamed this on being a old hotel but when we booked this we wasn't told we would be staying in a place like what we did. Had better sleeps at hotels opposite night clubs!!

Review 118:We were very disappointed in the breakfast we paid £12.50 each for a full English unfortunately that is not what we got there was no fried egg only scrambled and i do not eat scrambled and neither of us eat grilled tomato mushrooms or black pudding

Review 119:We both enjoyed most of the hotel itself especially the evening meal

Review 120:Everything was great!

Review 121:The staff were really friendly and helpful! The manor room that we had was fantastic and on such a good deal! Theras we had in the restaurant was brilliant! Overall a great stay!!

Review 122:Nothing

Review 123:The hotel is in a lovely area, close to everything we needed, with friendly staff who went out of there way to ensure we were happy. The manor room was a delight and very clean and the chef was accommodating to my food allergies without needing prior warning! What more could I ask for?

Review 124:Genuinely Friendly in a good location far enough outside of MK to be peaceful but close enough to get into town. Stayed in three hotels that week and this was by far the best and not the most expensive. Breakfast was good and set me up for the day

Review 125:Dirty dinner tray outside our room from nxt door for 24 hours

Review 126:Staff v good steak great ran out of puddings so gave us a mini portion foc ! Which was fine:)

Review 127:The room, upstairs in the main house was rather dull and uninspiring. Having stayed at the hotel before, I am aware that the more modern rooms on the ground floor are better. Staff were pleasant, and breakfast good.

Review 128:The Restaurant was quite cold

Review 129:Lovely village position but close to M1, which had no impact on the peace of the village. The room was very warm and comfortable and we had a very nice dinner, which was excellent value in the restaurant

Review 130:Only one bath towel provided for two people 2 decanters left one half full the other practically empty Kettle half full of water from previous guests Marks on quilt and dressing gown

Review 131:Fantastic Breakfast Beautiful building and delightful room Very friendly staff Location

Review 132:Bathroom floor hadn't been swept, cobwebs on the lights and drinks tray dirty, so cleanliness could have been improved.

Review 133:Hotel was warm and welcoming with a beautiful pond outside. Receptionist friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

Review 134:Lack of parking, greeting from reception was average at best, room was small and tired, room service selection only small and poor on checkout, overall not the best!!!

Review 135:...................

Review 136:size of the room (no room at the bottom of the bed - had to clamber over the top of the other person to get out of bed) Noisy function till late on Saturday, noisy extractor fan opposite the room's window, poorly maintained room, only one hand towel, unprofessional check in procedure, room rate without breakfast which was plenty of money considering all the above - the building as a whole has neglected routine maintenance (down pipe is leaking at first joint, letting water pour down the brickwork and staining it, the eaves trough has blockages which by the look of the age of the moss gathering there is of considerable age, missing and cracked roof tiles, etc.)

Review 137:Leaving

Review 138:The room was bland, not well thought out. No thermostat on the radiator, so it just blasted heat Breakfast uninspired, just one price. Whether you wanted a light breakfast or full English, so I didn't bother!

Review 139:The staff were good. & helpful. The room was very clean and warm

Review 140:The hotel is a bit 'dog-eared'. Black 'stuff' around base of taps on wash hand basin. Lower part of shower (outside) has bacterial growth. Banister on stairs held together with gaffer tape. Paintwork around the hotel is 'tired'. Upholstery of chairs in the bedroom was stained. Wardrobe left door has a problem with the bottom latch. I was charged full price breakfast for a bowl of muesli and a cup of tea. Evening meal steak was very poor quality for the price charged. Overall, not a pleasant experience and one that I will not repeat.

Review 141:Convenience and location to work
