Reviews for Quality Hotel Dickson
Review 1:No blockout blind on the bedroom window so the street/outside building lights shone through the window all night. Badly designed shower room/toilet (but very clean). Bed a bit too hard.
Review 2:After we found there was no couch in the king spa room just dining table and chairs, we were moved to an apartment room that had a couch, without additional cost and fuss. Staff friendly and accommodating
Review 3:This place looks like a dodgy 3 star motel, definitely not a 4 star property. The room was dated and needs to be improved. Really bad (non existent) mobile broadband reception and hotel wifi constantly dropped out. My room was in a totally separate building to the main hotel space, requiring me to drag my luggage across the carpark and up stairs to the next floor.
Review 4:Comfortable bed and pillows Free parking Quiet location
Review 5:Great location, close to a range of shops and restaurants of a good standard. Great parking, quiet at night and clean comfortable bed. Room has all the eating facilites needed.
Review 6:Room 232 - Room was very clean and of a generous size. Bathroom was large, shower was great. Free wi fi and free movies was great.Outlook from our room was peaceful an very quiet.
Review 7:Nothing to dislike about this great place.
Review 8:Everything. Cutlery, plates and electrical goods supplied make meals very easy. My preferred place to stay in Canberra which is quite regularly.
Review 9:The desk clerks were friendly. I also liked that the hotel was connected to the club so I didn't have to leave the hotel to go out. The food was excellent quality. I had dinner and breakfast and was very happy with both meals.
Review 10:I'm annoyed with the requirement of paying a $50 "bond" when checking in. This is the ONLY place I've stayed where it is required. It is a pointless requirement - what could the $50 cover? Is it worth the bad impression it gives to customers like myself? If it was not for the close proximity of the excellent club restaurant, this "bond" would be enough discourage me from staying here again.
Review 11:The easy access to the Tradies club restaurant. It is the main thing that would bring me back
Review 12:No welcome from the sullen young man on the desk. This hotel is part of a leagues club "The Tradies". If you are looking for charm or contemporary style, it would be better to pay more and look elsewhere.
Review 13:A quiet, comfortable room. Free parking. A good location in a shopping and dining precinct a few minutes drive fron the centre of town.
Review 14:The location is excellent . Easy to get to city centre and having a shopping centre next door is great. So many Cafes restaurants. The Tradies Club with the free memberships for guests is a bonus . Meals at the Club are excellent value and generous serves .Free undercover parking also a plus. Definitely would recommend.
Review 15:mould in bathroom no table and chairs on balcony
Review 16:closeness to club spacious rooms comfy bed undercover parking will recommend free membership to Tradies
Review 17:Did not appreciate those who were the 'worse for wear' in Tradies Bar.
Review 18:Hotel rooms were comfortable and clean. Reception staff helpful. Bluey's Cafe good value.
Review 19:Entertainment one nite was poor , the guy clearly needs practice ..
Review 20:Located amongst foodie central so making dinner decisions was the only problem . Also short taxi ride to Braddon for dinner at black fire & beers at bespoke .
Review 21:I am a bargain hunter it would have been nice to get it for marginally less however not complaining.
Review 22:Everything we needed was there and it looked JUST like the listing.
Review 23:The only thing that let the place down was the unfriendliness of the reception staff. He seemed extremely unhappy in his job and this reflected in the way he treated his customers. Also another small complaint was the air conditioning sounded like a jet taking off which made it a bit difficult to sleep.
Review 24:The room was clean and well laid out. For the price, it was excellent value for money. Being right in the heart of Dickson was great for the wide array of restaurants and cafes to choose from.
Review 25:As with many hotels, the lighting is bad in the bathroom. Not enough light anywhere to see where your makeup s going. Minor but annoying
Review 26:Location and comfort
Review 27:We didn't like that we couldn't afford to stay longer.
Review 28:We loved how the room was made up everyday. The hotel was so convenient to all the activities we wanted to see. The club activities and restaurants downstairs were very good value and the food was excellent. They were also very prompt at fixing any issues that arose.
Review 29:Maybe need a shower curtain, but the shower was fabulous.
Review 30:Room was well equipped, clean and functional. Liked the fact that there were actual coffee mugs. Attention to little details was great.
Review 31:1) I had to wait a little too long to Check-in and the receptionist could have been a little more warm and welcoming - she did not convey any 'warm and fuzzies'. 2) Despite turning the air con OFF I still got hot with a doona - would like a blanket option. If you throw the doona off because you are hot then you get too cold with just a sheet over you. 3) being woken up by the very noisey garbage truck emptying the large skip bins early in morning.
Review 32:1) Great location close to a variety of good restaurants/ club and supermarket. 2) Onsite undercover parking - Easy to access via lifts. 3) Rooms are clean and spacious and well appointed
Review 33:Booking instructions were for bed to be split for myself and 15 year oldson. On check in only 1 bed. I had to sleep on a roll in bed which wasterrible for $177 for the night. Staff didnt look at requests at all!!!!
Review 34:We had spa room and found it very difficult to get in and out. There was a handle on wall but not close enough to help. (it actually broke when hubby getting out which could have been serious) Should be told before booking.
Review 35:Great location next to club and restaurants in walking distance.
Review 36:The shower was problem, the hot water kept going cold.
Review 37:Beds were vet comfortable and the room was spacious. Super convenient to just go down stairs for a meal.
Review 38:no empathy at reception, attitude appeared to deal with body and progress to next face
Review 39:location and facilities lacked for nothing. Parking not noisy able to work in room with space
Review 40:BED VERY FIRM NOISY, DUE TO WORKERS. & COLLECTIONS SNOOTY STAFF NO FAN IN BATHROOM NO NIGHT LIGHT
Review 41:GREAT LOCATION. PARKING SPA BATH. LARGE ROOM. MICRO WAVE GOOD TOWELS. WARM ROOM FREE WIFI BALCONY
Review 42:We got a spa room and couldn't use the spa as it was old and not that clean looking. Also with signs everywhere in the bathroom telling us to save water, we would have felt guilty to use the spa even if we could.
Review 43:Great location, very convenient. The Tradies club attached had a very nice restaurant and we enjoyed the facilities.
Review 44:We had two beds in the room one was good but the other one was so sunken in the middle that we rolled into the hole! It was very difficult to sleep comfortably in this bed which needs to be disposed of (room 239 from memory)
Review 45:Very clean & great block out curtains.
Review 46:I requested a ground floor room and was given the second floor which we thought would be OK but the lift was out of order. We are not young enough to have to carry bags up stairs like that. The location is central but was very noisy early everyday with garbage trucks etc.
Review 47:Nice roomy comfortable room. The microwave was good too.
Review 48:Staff were a little too slow to act on my complaint over noisy children playing in the hallway
Review 49:Comfort,conveniently located to the club and restaurants.
Review 50:We ate at the Tradies Club for dinner on one of the nights. We were disappointed with the meals (overcooked and dry) (Chicken and Fish). Bar service was poor. Would not recommend eating at the Club.
Review 51:Close proximity to restaurants and variety. Rooms were well appointed and very clean
Review 52:All good, will stay for a 3rd time for our next visit to Canberra.
Review 53:2nd stay for us. Combined with the Tradies Club for meals & breakfast creates an ideal accommodation stay.
Review 54:The guy with the blower every morning and the cleaners putting the aircon on when they made up our room
Review 55:Room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, location was great, Canberra is so easy to get around and the location of the hotel is ideal plus u have the tradies club next door and surrounded by restaurants and a handy supermarket, will definatley stay here again
Review 56:Free wifi only available later in the evening, nothing bad about the room though!
Review 57:Requested a quiet room and they obliged, very quiet and comfortable, with plenty of room.
Review 58:Due to early departure NO breakfast room service available. Consider providing a pre-set tray with cereal, juice, bread etc delivered the night before.
Review 59:Close to the AIS, all attractions and located in the restraint area of Dickson. Being attached to the Tradies Club offers a selection of foods and entertainment.
Review 60:Room was excellent. Great decor, comfortable bed and facilities(TV, Microwave, etc).Good sized bathroom with excellent shower. Complimentary newspapers.
Review 61:bed was okay for an overnight trip, two nights and your pushing it, TV only had four channels working, no outdoor chairs yet big outdoor patio, we did have a dirty towel left in our room from previous people left in our room,
Review 62:we stayed for two nights, hotel is convenient to shops etc. staff were nice
Review 63:No facility for washing dishes or washing dirty clothes
Review 64:Location and free parking Easy access for meals breakfast, lunch and dinner at Tradies next door
Review 65:Nothing.
Review 66:Location is perfect! Very close to shops, restaurants, parks and gas stations. Minutes away from city center and other points of interest. Staffs are helpful and friendly. Our kids enjoyed a lot our spacious room (1queen & 1double bed), clean & neat as well. Room has balcony. Bathroom is big and clean. And lastly, parking is definitely a big plus. Lots of parking spaces and it's free! We'll definitely stay here again.
Review 67:Generally the staff are invisible and unengaging. The fact that I can't walk through tradies because I'm not a member. That is ridiculous.
Review 68:Daniel at reception is very professional and efficient. The room is very comfortable and everything works well from that point of view.
Review 69:Reception did not clearly explain what facilities were available, why we had to join the club or how the construction work affected access to the cafe, etc.
Review 70:Arrived to find we had been given a better room at no charge. Stephanie was a very welcoming and cheerful receptionist in person and on the phone.
Review 71:I bought my pocket wifi as I was on the road. However, it would be great if the hotel offers free wifi.
Review 72:My headline tells a lot already; in addition, I love the kettle, complimentary tea bags / coffee powder and cookie; I didn't use the microwave as I only stayed overnight. It would be great to have it if I stay longer.
Review 73:Tradies bar is not great with poor & unkind service, and just big and drafty, with no sense of a welcoming to the place
Review 74:Fresh, clean & modern room Reception staff were lovely All the restaurants close by...
Review 75:The Hotel required me to pay upfront as a "pre-authorised" payment. I haven't experienced this method before. They also, wanted an additional $50 deposit upfront. However, this was refunded when I departed. There was no pantry.
Review 76:The exterior of the actual rooms are a bit dated although clean untidy. It would scrub up nicely with some render and a different colour on the aluminium window door features - even if only on the main entrance side.
Review 77:This hotel represented value for money. The rooms were large and the sauna was excellent in our room. The added beneifts of the club wit its various dining areas, the $5 discount and 1 year membership were great incentives.
Review 78:not a lot to say here- a pool would be nice
Review 79:Proximity to great restaurants and shops, free wifi, secure parking, guy at reception was terrific -enthusiastic and skilled at his job; room was big surprise - big, airy; great bathroom, comfy big bed and pillows
Review 80:I booked thru booking.com and quoted a price of $125.00 however, was charged $150 per night
Review 81:quietness, and the spaciousness of the room I occupied. Also the convenience of parking to room location
Review 82:Having booked two rooms I was perplexed as to why the two rooms were at opposite ends of the venue.
Review 83:The proximity to shops and having the club attached.
Review 84:Lacking in character. Dated exterior. Movie channels not working.
Review 85:Huge room. Huge bathroom. Connected to The Tradies - decent club. Nice outlook over large trees. Excellent, good value restaurants with a block. Free undercover parking.
Review 86:Modern clean room with all we needed at a reasonable price.Friendly and helpfull staff.Ajacent Tradies Club with good facilities and meals makes it a one stop location if desired. Will stay again.
Review 87:What you advertised as a room with 2 queen sized beds and that is what I thought I would recieve but unless I specifically ask for that it isn't what you get.
Review 88:Position, position, position
Review 89:The toast-it was as if it had been put in a press. This made it very hard to cut and chew.
Review 90:The staff- the accommodation-and the convenience. We would stay there again.
Review 91:Nothing to complain about
Review 92:Location Proximity to great Restaraunts, Next to bike track Guy on check out was courteous and friendly, put my day off to a good start, please thank him for me
Review 93:Neither free or paid wi fi was acceptable. I had business connections which I had to cancel due to the very poor and insecure wi fi.
Review 94:Staff did eventually try to help with wi fi but country motels offer better service than this city slicker.
Review 95:I did not like the hand pump soaps, too hard to use. Being a female, a bit more lighting in the bathroom for doing ones make up would be great, but all motels fall short of this.. a man must have designed all the bathrooms.
Review 96:The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the Pillows just great. A good pillow is important when travelling.
Review 97:We were in the front unit backing on to main entrance, very loud at night after close of bars in the area and woken very early by rubbish pick up, probably be OK if you were in the back units. Surrounding location, including local shops, very rough, with a very unsafe feeling while shopping.
Review 98:Good Restaurants. Very Clean throughout. Good Room Facilities. Good room size.
Review 99:Our car was not close to our room. The lady in charge of the Tradies restaurant was abrupt and unwelcoming. Not your problem I know but the place was all but empty and she was worried that there would be too few spaces for the regulars who would be arriving for the $10 fish and chip special. We were out of the place in 40 minutes and didn't have the fish and chips. I only wrote this to make up the 200 characters.
Review 100:Nearness to major artery to the city as in Northbourne Ave. There were major services like petrol and banking close by. Options to eat out were available. There were convenience stores in the area for the bits and pieces you often need. The atrium, where we stayed, was relatively quiet. Staff followed up when when we left part of our luggage in the room. 24 hour check in a real plus.
Review 101:It was a little tight driving around the reception area and car park but that was no great concern
Review 102:Privacy, cleanliness & friendliness of staff. We went to Tradies for a pre-dinner drink and were entertained by piano and guitar duo.
Review 103:Adjacent to Dickson shops and the wide range of dining options as well as a direct link into the Tradies Club. Easy access from the airport and to the Belconnen area of Canberra.
Review 104:Not a thing. Wish we stayed one more night.
Review 105:Realy big room and bed, absence of any noise at night. Spa bath in a spacious bathroom. Plenty of room everywhere.
Review 106:Very pleasant staff, explained about the carpark very clearly. Good value for money. I didn't go to the Club next door, but looked inviting - fantastic how if you stay at the hotel you are offered a membership at no charge, great incentive to come back to visit. Felt very safe and comfortable as I am travelling solo on business. Generous sized room service meals - good value for money.
Review 107:Hard to squeeze the container of supplied toiletry supplies (soap, shampoo)..virtually had to use both hands and I'm not elderly ! Loved the perfume of them though
Review 108:Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants. Free parking.
Review 109:Limited laundry. Unable to book more than night at a time at good price.
Review 110:Large clean rooms and good hotel and club facilities. Secure parking and hotel access.
Review 111:We do like to be able to wash the dishes in a kitchen type sink not the bathroom sink.
Review 112:The large room with opening facing the open reserve, not with the windows to the entrance side.
Review 113:A small (300 mil) container of fresh milk would have been nice Apart from that nothing was wrong or bad
Review 114:Room plenty of space Well set out Very comfortable Great large bed Bar fridge that keeps cold Toaster, microwave, plenty of tea and coffee
Review 115:That Icouldn't stay longer :(
Review 116:I loved how big the room was, the cleanliness, the access to the different facilities without going to far..Love where it was situated to shops and the bed was just soooo comfortable, I usually struggle to sleep when away but this was the best..Also how you had brochures available to you..Thankyou
Review 117:Easy access from Barton and Federal Highways. The staff and room was well presented and the choice for dining at both the attached trades club and nearby restaurants was excellent.
Review 118:The bed was very hard. The club attached would not package up left over dinner to take back to the room. No doggie bags. The cafe was not open near the tram carrage. Would have been nice to utilise that area.
Review 119:I liked the location and room size.
Review 120:Very uncomfortable bed - worst night's sleep I've had in ages. Would discourage me from returning despite the good things about the hotel.
Review 121:Location and access to club dining room. Also many other dining options in the nearby area.
Review 122:Nothing!
Review 123:Lovely cosy room on our arrival on a very cold Canberra day. Great dinner in the restaurant, close to all attractions and the Canberra Centre.
Review 124:No free wifi
Review 125:Under cover car park for free. Comfy beds Close to Tradies so don't have to go out for a a meal, though brekkie is a bit expensive - but Maccas is just a block away.
Review 126:- Close to exhibition centre - A lot of restaurants surrounding accommodation - Woolworths close in case needed anything from the grocery store - Wifi signal strength great - Reception staff are so friendly and helpful - free parking facilities
Review 127:Underground parking was not secure, although we did not have any issues during our stay.
Review 128:Clean large room size. Close to a number of quality dining options. Easy access without driving throughcity centre. On site Breakfast at Tradies club excellent quality and value Friendly staff
Review 129:Only one thing - we weren't aware that room service breakfast had to be ordered before 10pm the previous night. However the Blues Cafe (which is part of the tradies club) whipped us up a lovely breakfast so no complaints here :-)
Review 130:The room was spacious, clean and very presentable. We enjoyed the closeness of facilities i.e. restaurants, petrol station and the tradies club right next door. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return - highly recommended to all.
Review 131:Bed not to my taste. Too soft.
Review 132:Good size room Clean
Review 133:More cooking facilities would be handy with family
Review 134:Location
Review 135:leaking ceiling in the car park.
Review 136:Handy location to restaurants nearby.
