Reviews for Gallows View Bed & Breakfast
Review 1:If we had to pick something- it would be the water pressure in the shower but aside from that it was just grand!
Review 2:Mary was just so nice and very accommodating. Her breakfast that she offers was delicious. It was a super location. Less than 15 mins away from Shannon airport. We would absolutely stay here again.
Review 3:Upon arrival we received such a friendly welcome from Mary, and a cup of tea. The room was clean and the location is perfect if you want to get out if the city centre.
Review 4:This is a TRUE B&B -- you immediately feel welcomed into Mary's home. This is my third visit in 15 years. Mary is extremely accommodating, a delightful conversationalist, and a wonderful cook! This is NOT a modern, full-amenities hotel. It is comfortable and clean, and a lovely place to rest for an evening or two. Just down the road from Durty Nelly's and Bunratty Castle, and very close to the Shannon Airport, you couldn't find a better location.
Review 5:We thought our stay at the Gallows was a perfect way to conclude our trip. Mary was a fantastic host in every possible way. The location was great and we will stay there again on our next trip in Ireland.
Review 6:This a lovely place and Mary, the owner was gracious, helpful and accommodating. She took care of us like we were family. She got up to make sure we had breakfast at 6:00 AM before we left to catch an early flight from Shannon Airport.
Review 7:The place seemed quite run down and tired over the years. It didn't seem to be updated at all. I guess I would have expected to see a rating of 7 or so, rather than 9.6. I booked the upstairs room overlooking the garden, and was given a different room ("plumbing problems") but it looked like she had just placed other guests in that room. Also, coming down for breakfast, we couldn't sit with the other couple we were traveling with because the larger table was set aside for another family (we had no idea of this the prior evening). We made the best of it, and nothing was full on bad, it just fell far short of our expectations.
Review 8:Mary seemed very sweet. The flowers/garden were lovely.
Review 9:Mary is one of the most delightful people you will ever meet and goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. We called her around 2:00 on a rainy day to see what time we could check in and she graciously said "come right over, your room is ready". We know this is not what is normal or always do-able but we thank her. Very convenient to Bunratty with a quick back road to Shannon but in a quiet rural location. We will use her whenever we are in the area!!
Review 10:Mary was great! We had an early flight, so she made us some coffee & tea early and left us some scones & toast. She also told us the best way to the airport and how long it should take to get to the gate. We'll be back!
Review 11:From the minute the owner open the door she was so nice and kind and couldn't do enough for us and the rooms are so clean and so tidy and bathroom had everything we needed breakfast was lovely too
Review 12:WiFi reception was a bit spotty upstairs but was okay downstairs. could use a stronger WiFi router or a signal repeater.
Review 13:good friendly service, owner is very accommodating. quaint large house with good facilities.
Review 14:Very comfortable, homey B&B, with the friendliest proprietor I've had the pleasure to meet. She tended to my family wonderfully. Breakfast was delicious too!
Review 15:Only 1 issue: The shower didn't drain properly.Standing in 4 inches of shower water at the end of having a shower...
Review 16:Good breakfast, comfortable bed, everything OK, only 1 issue with shower..
Review 17:We loved our stay at Gallows View! Mary was so kind and incredibly attentive. We were traveling with our baby, and she even provided us with a collapsible crib and a high chair at breakfast in the mornings. Our baby loved the pancakes! The room itself was lovely and the price was right. Very easy access to the airport, Limerick, etc. Perfect if you want to get out of the city, but not *too* far out. Can't recommend it enough!
Review 18:Everything thing was great. I believe our host's name is Mary, and she is a wonderful person. We had arrived on a 9 AM flight into SNN, dead tired from little sleep. We showed up at Mary's doorstep asking if we could leave our luggage in her place while exploring (i.e. park and rest somewhere) until she had our room ready. While she would have done that, she invited us into her parlor and served us tea and biscuits until our room was ready about 90 minutes later!
Review 19:The only improvement I can ask for is that they invest in free internet access.
Review 20:Mary was the best host I could have imagined! Beautiful house and great rooms.
Review 21:Mary and Don are gracious hosts in their comfortable B and B. We were made to feel very welcome. The room was spacious, bathroom large and with little touches like soap, cotton pads, hair dryer and lots of good quality towels. Excellent location if you are arriving or departing Shannon Airport.
Review 22:Water pressure a bit low, and wifi a bit slow
Review 23:Mary was a very gracious hostess. She had tea and cake ready when we arrived. Made it fell like a home away from home. Beds were comfy, room spacious, and breakfast delicious!
Review 24:Warm welcome, even though we were a few hours later than expected. We were given the option to view the vacant rooms and choose the one best suited to our taste ( as came late in the season) and offered extra towels, space heaters, etc to feel more comfortable. Mary let us know the best places to eat around the area in terms of food style, quality and price and gave good directions how to get there. Breakfast choices in the morning were outstanding, far better than any B&B I have been to before, with an intimate classic British feel. The meal was prompt, hot, and delicious.such a wonderful host and location
Review 25:The bed was very uncomfortable
Review 26:The owner, Mary, is a sweetheart. She is very helpful and friendly. The house is very clean. The property is very convenient to Bunratty Castle and Mary recommended Durty Nellie's for dinner, which was an excellent choice.
Review 27:The only thing I could say that we didn't like was the neighbours in the next room just being totally inconsiderate at 1am..very childishly noisy.
Review 28:The location for us was perfect. Mary is an impeccable host..nothing was a bother. The breakfast was amazing! Would totally recommend the full Irish...just delicious!
Review 29:My husband and I stayed here our first night in Ireland and our last night (we were in Ireland for our honeymoon). The property, house, and the room were gorgeous! And Mary was amazing! She made us feel at home, gave us advise for our trip, and overall went above and beyond to help us when we needed it. Our trip to Ireland wouldn't have been the same without her! Staying at Gallow View was the perfect way to start and end our trip!
Review 30:Every thing was perfect !
Review 31:Wonderful location. Comfortable warm and friendly beautiful gardens. Experienced owner knew what we needed and met all of our requests. Will return and tell all of my friends.
Review 32:Nice home with friendly couple who greet you at the door. We were without an alarm clock and the host kindly lent us an alarm clock and knocked on our door when we failed to wake up. Nice breakfast and very nice/friendly couple.
Review 33:Our first experience with a B & B, best experience. Very warm welcome, would definetly stay again or recommend to anyone I knew that would be visiting Ireland. Bruce and Tammy
Review 34:Only minor complaint was inefficient WIFI.
Review 35:Friendliness of the owner and cleanliness, delicious Irish breakfast, and attention to detail. Beautiful home and gardens, balcony with views of the gardens.
Review 36:Something very minor, but the WiFi was not incredibly reliable. Sometimes my iPhone and laptop would pick it up, but other times not.
Review 37:Mary and her husband were so fantastic - so welcoming, friendly, genuine from the very moment we walked in. We had originally booked rooms upstairs but another family (with small children) booked rooms upstairs, as well. Mary was kind enough to move us downstairs, without us even asking. And gave us two rooms for the price of the one room we had originally booked! Breakfast was fantastic, lots of options, yummy coffee and tea. Bedrooms were immaculately clean, bathrooms had everything you could need, including a wash cloth (which we found were rare in Ireland lodging!). Beautiful area outside of town, very quiet. Wish we had stayed for more than one night!!
Review 38:We loved everything about our stay. Mary made us feel very welcome and was so helpful and extremely kind.what a lovely lady! We were only sorry we couldn't stay longer... Definately next time!
Review 39:The very accommodating proprietress waited until quite late for my arrival with a gratious smile. Pre- Shannon flight breakfast was elegant, visually stunning and a great send off. Highly Recommend for travellors leaving from Shannon
Review 40:It is a bit remote - over a mile from the village along a dark road at night - and 10.30am is a very early checkout time!
Review 41:Great breakfast, owners very nice and even offered a lift back into the village.
Review 42:Nothing
Review 43:We had the room with the balcony and the flowers were really pretty. The breakfast was really good also. We were welcomed with tea and sweet cakes.
Review 44:The stay was quite pleasant. The host was friendly and conversational. The breakfast was excellent. The location is centrally located on the western coast. We stayed at this location for three days. All our interest points were within a 45 minute drive. Accessibility was convenient yet had the feel of a rural residence which is what we wanted.
Review 45:We loved our stay! It was only for a night so we could get our plane the next morning, but Mary gave us a delicious breakfast and easy direction to the airport! She has a beautiful home. As my husband put it, "She really cares about and notices the details."
