Reviews for Capsis Astoria Heraklion
Review 1:This time (off season ) the guys on the reception desk weren't very discreet about my visitors. My friends mentioned that they felt uncomfortable when the came to see me in my hotel room. Very small issue though. The property is just great. Thank you Astoria hotel once again
Review 2:It has been the third time I've stayed there. I recommend it for any purpose. Just great hotel!
Review 3:Lovely large bedroom with separate seating area. Modern furnishings, kettle, fridge and hairdryer. Excellent breakfast and reasonably priced meals in the cafe bar.
Review 4:Internet connection was not the best , please try to remove your password... Because I need to login every 5 min ....
Review 5:Capsis Astoria hotel it's one of the best located hotels in the center of Hiraklion Creta, perfect for business and fun , you can find any kind of shops near by walking distance. The stuff was very friendly and usually all services are extremely FAST....:) ,the guy's from the reception are nice and friendly ?the prices are very low .... Compared with other hotels in the same category, thank you for your hospitality?see you soon !!!
Review 6:I wish I'd asked specifically for a non-smoking room. I didn't bother asking to change as I might have lost the terrace! Not worth it for a single night.
Review 7:Nice spacious room with large terrace. Excellent breakfast and a perfect location.
Review 8:A bit noisy at night, when balcony door was open. The executive room we booked has a very small bathroom which only allows one person to use.
Review 9:We enjoyed our stay with easy access to museums and town centre. Breakfast is great with a wide range of choices for both local and European dishes. We also appreciated kind assistance of front desk staff, who are friendly and patient.
Review 10:The toilet needed to be cleaner. There where spots all over the place especially in the basin.
Review 11:The location is very suitable to see the city. You don't need any public transportation for the city center.
Review 12:The room was a bit on the small side and very noisy with the window open. Also the hallways were very dated more like a 3 star hotel not 4 star.
Review 13:The room was clean and the hotel was central-near the museum which was the purpose of our visit. Also nice breakfast.
Review 14:The pavement in front of the hotel is a disaster!
Review 15:The location, the cleanliness and the friendly personnel. The traditional cretan breakfast was delicious and light! It is less than 1 minute walking distance from the archaeological museum of Herakleio.
Review 16:Great location. Very friendly staff. Excellent room service. I only wished the roof terrace was open to enjoy an evening drink, the view and may be the pool as the weather was still hot in early October. I will certainly come back.
Review 17:Swiming pool closed as end of season, weather still good, chose hotel because of pool Overall decor, furnishing, bathroom - shabby. Not a five star hotel as advertised.
Review 18:Location - close to museums, shops, cafes Breakfast - good choice and quality Room quiet - on top floor Staff helpful
Review 19:Excellent location. Although we were facing a busy road the room was very quite - double glazing! the room was comfortable and the breakfast buffet good.
Review 20:Small piece of glass was found on the floor (luckily we did not walk on it and noticed). It would have been better to have separate soaps for hand-washing and separate shampoo for washing hair.
Review 21:Location, staff, room size.
Review 22:The noice during w-ends...outside the hotel there were packs of teenagers celebrating w-end, nightclub upstear etc. My sink in the bathroom was leaking and woke me up my first morning. In general, not a 4 star hotel in my eyes...reaches 3.
Review 23:The location of the hotel is superb if you want to be near the shopping and restaurants. Also there is buses right nearby, which will take you to the beach or other parts of Crete...and even to the aiport.
Review 24:I really do not recommend this hotel, smelly rooms with disgusting carpet, I really had a bad room right on the air conditioning devices.
Review 25:The only nice thing there is is the fabulous roof terrace with swimming pool, but don't sleep there, go and have a drink at sunset.
Review 26:A water pipe beneath our sink suddenly exploded and we had to move a room! This revealed us the low maintenance of this hotel. First our room with the pipe that exploded. In one room the toilet's button didn't work properly. Even when we tried the suite it smelled bad and had dust on the floors. Hotel corridors have stale smell, sometimes cigarettes smell. Wi-Fi doesn't work inside rooms, only in public areas. The parties on the roof on Fridays and Saturdays are indeed noisy.
Review 27:Staff was helpful. They tried to help us with finding a new room. They also helped us with information when we arrived/left. Location is good, above bus stations, near restaurants, shopping stores. Nice décor inside rooms.
Review 28:Outlook from the hotel and well worn feel to the hotel corridors. Bathroom refurbishment has not been professionally accomplished eg floor drain higher than adjacent tiles.
Review 29:Location, value for money and ever helpful staff
Review 30:I didn't like loud music coming from the swimming pool area at late sleeping hours. Unhappily during our stay there have been a lot of French and Italian customers misbehaving due to the fact of being drunk and were shouting in the corridors at 3am or even later.
Review 31:The service was the best we've had in a long time. Very solicitous of our needs and helpful with any question we needed answered. A very pleasant stay!
Review 32:We arrived late, 10 pm and missed our dinner however we were directed to the restaurant where we ate a delicious a la carte 4-course meal. All of the staff bar, reception, etc were so helpful and friendly. Food was excellent. We asked for late check out and were granted it FOC. Location perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely go back there - when in Crete again.
Review 33:.the beds had very very firm mattresses we had small problems with hot water taking too long to get to the shower (10 minutes)
Review 34:the staff was very helpful even arranged for us to get an early check in which helped alot. the breakfest was very good and tasty with lots of variety. amazing location close to everything Herklion has to offer.
Review 35:From our 4th floor room we could hear a lot of noise from the rooftop bar until late at night!
Review 36:It was very central & around the corner from the Archeology Museum. Found some great restaurants in the area. Also close to the ferry terminal. The brreakfast was fabulous, with lots of Greek specialties. Had a rooftop pool which was well used & with a great view of the city.
Review 37:Extremely noisy roof bar in the evenings, couldn't sleep because of the noise! Hallways dark and smelled badly of stale smoke Location is excellent but didn't feel overly safe sometimes
Review 38:Excellent staff, very helpful, went well out of there way to help Amazing breakfast with everything you could possibly want for breakfast Nice views from roof terrace
Review 39:1) Hotel needs a makeover!!! The carpets in the hallway are stained, the rooms are really old fashioned and worn looking. The hotel smells old (hallways and rooms) and looks old. Not attractive at all. 2) Guests should be provided free water in rooms for duration of stay as well. 3) The restaurant should do more to accommodate special dietary needs like soy milk, wheat free, etc.
Review 40:Friendly staff. Good value. Pet friendly. Excellent location!
Review 41:Dated and old and NOAIR CONDITIONING in hallways!!
Review 42:Dated and not very well kept. No air conditioning in hallways. Old fashioned. Location central and good but hotel not great at all.
Review 43:No parking area, in the middle of a busy street. The hotel needs renovation if not now, but soon...
Review 44:It was Ok for a one or two-day city trip, nothing too special, but no problem either...
Review 45:Beware of the loud music till 3.30am on Saturdays (possibly Fridays and Sundays too although i did not stay those nights to be certain)! Anyone considering staying at this hotel should know they probably wont get to sleep until very very late due to an open club above the rooms.
Review 46:Rooms are good, location is good.
Review 47:Somewhat disappointed with the service - we didn't even have two sets of towels in the room, which I find inexcusable given the room rate. Also not impressed with the rooftop swimming pool - it's really small and there are only a few umbrellas available.
Review 48:Great location.
Review 49:No soap in the shower, service was a bit slow. Difficulties with car parking. Little oversight in pool area, staff a little rude during pool closing.
Review 50:Good location, staff accomodative when we needed to change rooms.
Review 51:The hotel was grwat, but Heraklion is more a place to stay if you have an early ferry to catch. It's the biggest city, so it doesn't have that "holiday" appeal.
Review 52:Perfect location for Old Town and the port!
Review 53:Pool hours, open officially at 11, door opened at 11:10 and pool ready at 11:30, staff not interested, then it closes at 7 pm but then on the minute.
Review 54:The central location of the hotel ,parking, next to the archiological museum, the view from the balkony and pool area
Review 55:In front of the hotel there is a avenue seems like all the teenagers get together there. so nights were bit noisy because of the cars passing and the teenagers. but if you close the window, no problem. And we wanted to use the pool and bar on Saturday, but I guess the hotel gets customers out of the hotel, so there were full of teenagers and no seat, no sunbeds available, so we had to skip it.
Review 56:Location was superb (10 min taxi ride from airport, close to shops, bars, rentals) and staff was friendly, room was okay
Review 57:Smell of cigarette smoke in corridors and bedroom. Noise from traffic directly below our balcony. Impossible to get near the pool area which was absolutely crammed with local young people, all appeared to be under 30, many looked like they should have been at school (okay so we are in our 60's). We definitely felt out of place amidst the rampant hormones and soon went back to our smelly room/noisy balcony.
Review 58:Good wifi in room and we printed off our air tickets in the business area Buses to Knossos and airport directtly outside hotel
Review 59:None
Review 60:We had a lovely high room looking out to the square which the hotel upgraded for us at no extra charge as this stay was a special birthday treat for my wife. Roof bar perfect for evening cocktails.
Review 61:Perfect Location in the heart of heraklion, very big and confortable rooms, friendly staff... Free bikes, very good breakfast and dinner (traditional dishes).
Review 62:Saturday night over the square gets noisy.
Review 63:We loved the central location right next to the museum, sunrise over the city from the balcony, and one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. Try the olive jam - honestly. Very friendly staff.
Review 64:Prices in the bar were unnecessarily steep. 9euro for a half litre of draft beer - I barely paid half that anywhere else on Crete.
Review 65:Right at a great bus stop for public transfer to airport, beaches etc. Next door to Archaeological Museum, easy walk to shopping district. Breakfast was fine, rooms fine.
Review 66:noisy at night (windows need to be closed) Hotel needs a little remodeling and renovation
Review 67:very friendly staff nice room centrally located great breakfast with Greek specialities
Review 68:Reservation wasn't in their system when we arrived, but the staff handled the situation very well.
Review 69:Convenient location, full service hotel, rooftop bar
Review 70:I didn't book a room for a disabled person so was very disappointed with the bathroom. It was also mouldy in the hand basin and the bottom of the shower curtain. One bottle of body lotion was already open. This sounds petty but they are claiming to be a four star hotel. I didn't like the fact that there were two huge tubes going through our balcony that also only had one chair for two people. I've had much better rooms in all my travels. This was'nt an executive room.
Review 71:Staff were very nice and helpful. I booked an executive room which was a nice size and reasonably comfortable.
Review 72:Pool opening hours.
Review 73:The location of this hotel in Heraklion, opposite Elefterias Sq, bus top for the airport and Knossos right outside, and only €10 in a taxi from the airport. Plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants within a minutes walk but the room was very quiet when the balcony doors were shut.
Review 74:This hotel is prime position to get to everything - from the shops around the corner, to the Port, Bus Stop and Restaurants! Also plenty of Taxi's around close by! The bedrooms are extremely comfortable and the breakfast phenomenal! Anyone whom i recommend this hotel to just loves it.
Review 75:Noise from street on Saturday night but this is Greece after all and it wasn't the hotel's fault.
Review 76:Amazing staff. Always helpful with a smile both at reception, in Capsis cafe, in breakfast room and the lovely ladies who clean the rooms. Warm welcome. Lovely room. Excellent breakfast, Breakfast had always great fresh fruit , Greek yoghurts etc. and typical Greek specialities. Excellent location. Great food at Capsis cafe.greek specialities and very reasonably priced. Didn't use pool so can't comment.
Review 77:Noise!!! From the rooftop bar and bars/ clubs near the hotel.Don't get a room on the 4th floor, you'll hear the rooftopbar all night long. Ask for an internal room, not one that facesthe streets.
Review 78:Location is on a main square, close to shopping and short walk toport area.
Review 79:Saturday night appears to be disco night at some local nuclear powered discotheque. It was richter 4 until midnight and then toned down to richter 2 until 2.30. My wife swears that an hour or so later it started again albeit much softer. On Sunday night it was blissfully quiet. I suggest that you ask about the disco.
Review 80:The Capsis Astoria is a lovely hotel in downtown Iraklio. The restaurant choices are good and it is handy to the airport. The hotel amenities are very good.
Review 81:Everything was great, you will not found anything like that for that price
Review 82:swimming pool food breakfast, dinner. Excellent prices. Great room, excellent location, people extremely professional. Very good price for what you get
Review 83:A centrally located hotel, opposite the museum. Staff so attentive, even having luggage taken to our room ... Just like the film "Pretty woman"
Review 84:Hotel is tired. Halls are dank and smell. Wallpaper is dark and has seen better days maybe 20 years ago. Could do with fresh paint job and brighter halls.
Review 85:Good location, and good breakfast buffet.
Review 86:Aircondition did not work.
Review 87:Rooftop swimmingpool was nice. Great service on rooftop restaurant/bar. Friendly staff. Greek breakfast and very comfortable bed.
Review 88:Lots of noise from the top floor (from the cocktail bar at the roof) when you are staying on the 3rd floor. The noise continues far after midnight. You need good earplugs in order to be able to sleep.
Review 89:Comfortable beds. Helpfull personel.
Review 90:Nothing important that I didn't like. See comments above about the bathrooms.
Review 91:A spectacular location. Incredibly great staff. Excellent food. Generally in good condition outside. Very comfortable bedding for sleeping The only issue is that the rooms and particularly bathrooms need to be renovated. However well worth the price. We would go back.
Review 92:Water volume of shower was not enough. Music from the bar on the top floor is a bit noisy in the night even windows were closed tightly.
Review 93:Location! Very convenient to reach most places in the town. Bus to Knossos departs in front of the hotel and can reach the port easily.
Review 94:Floor four incredibly noisy even with the windows shut tight. Shower randomly changed temperature all the time. Hotel bartenders didn't know how to make any of the cocktails on their own menu.
Review 95:I enjoyed the location very much. High accessibility to the rest of Heraklion.
Review 96:That you could hear the bar on the rooftop the music would not stop. could not sleep till after 3am. i think this affected anyroom you are in. I presume this is only for the summer months not sure. but if your tired this is not on.
Review 97:Breakfast was amazing. So much food. Close to the airport. Staff friendly. Room was standard and clean.
Review 98:some details in the rooms a bit old one of the bed was broken smell of smoke in the room
Review 99:Close to the old center Amazing rooftop bar Nice staff big spaces
Review 100:At night, the bar at the top roof produces some noise to the rooms located in the last floors. Specially on weekends, quite a lot of people are going to the bar, so hotel guests might need to use the stairs to go to the room as elevators are permanently full.
Review 101:Location is excellent: busses from/to the Port, Airport, Beach and Knossos stop right at the door. Very good breakfast. Swimming pool at the roof is very nice, rather small. Great views and night bar. Free bike rental service. Good WiFi connection everywhere.
Review 102:Confusion about our booking upon arrival
Review 103:Breakfast was extensive and well prepared Location was fantastic, walking distance to everything, shops, restaurants, sightseeing etc.
Review 104:the music from the roof top bar can disturb those in rooms on 4th Floor.
Review 105:being so central - very accessible from both bus stations and also the bus stop for the airport as well as having a roof top pool.
Review 106:The pool lounge cushions need desperately to be replaced and the pool itself could use some attention too as it has rust around the edges. The roof top restaurant is VERY loud and open late - don't take a room on the 3rd or 4th floor!
Review 107:I asked for a very late check out (4 pm) because of my mother who needs to rest every afternoon and George Llapadakis (spelling?) was VERY helpful and kind and let us keep the room for free. The day bartender and waitress at the pool were very accommodating too.
Review 108:For a young couple is basic to have a double room with double bed no two single beds in this thing they are very bad. The lifts are very old, the swimming pool could be clean the walls more regularly because of the oil made a yellow line very disgusting for new swimmers
Review 109:I like the location, the prize, the food and the offers with partners, the terrace looks very well.
Review 110:We were on the 4th floor just below the roof bar and pool area. We stayed three nights the first night was ok but for the other two nights the noise from the bar upstairs was really bad until 2am. Scraping chairs and footsteps along with loud music. As we thought it was a special party on the second night we did not complain until checkout and all they said was we should have been told it would be noisy.
Review 111:Location was good and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast was also good. There were plenty of sun beds by the pool. Near the buses and town centre
Review 112:The elevator is very slow and ... Try to avoid the bedroom under the roofgarden ;)
Review 113:location near to the center with its tavernas and cafè, the museum, the terminal bus station and the port. Good continental and traditional breackfast. The staff is very kind. The wifi connection is very good.
Review 114:Workmanship in bathroom is average, e.g. bar for disabled in shower not aligned to wall, drain missing a tile, air ventilation not working etc. small details, which are a little irritating.
Review 115:Very helpful and nice employees
Review 116:Very loud bar party at night on the roof. If you have a fourth floor room, bring earplugs. If you are a young bar fly you will love it!
Review 117:Perfect central location Roof top pool and bar Helpful staff
Review 118:The beds were very hard and I was relieved to not sleep on them for another night. Other than that it was great.
Review 119:We only stayed one night but we had a great stay. Generous buffet breakfast, we had a huge room and balcony and the staff were very helpful.
Review 120:Rated as 4 star, more likely to be 3 star.
Review 121:Great roof top pool and bar. Fantastic view of city. Friendly staff. Great breakfast choice. Close to shops and lovely local restaurants.
Review 122:Nothing
Review 123:We were given an upgrade to an Executive room, which was nice as it was very spacious. Roof top bar and restaurant was very trendy and perfect for an evening drink or meal. Right in the middle of the centre, round the corner from the market street, the cafes and tavernas and a short stroll to the harbour. Bus stop for the bus for Knossos stops right outside the Hotel. Could not be easier for those who want to visit this ancient monument. Taxi rank is also nearby but negotiate the fare beforehand. Near the airport.
Review 124:No umbrellas on roof garden (pool) made it impossible to stay longer than half an hour.
Review 125:Good location, king bed (room 207) fast check in and check out, very clean and good parking service. Nice breakfast which included traditional Cretan treats too.
Review 126:Room spacious. Staff excellent. Food good. Would definitely recommend.
Review 127:Personal good
Review 128:The location of the hotel and its atmosphere
Review 129:Excellent breakfast buffet.
Review 130:It was too expensive for what they offered.
Review 131:Great location. Very helpful staff.
Review 132:Hotel is very convenient for central Heraklion. Lovely welcome from staff tho it was late when we arrived. Breakfast was varied and hot.
Review 133:Nice ocean views
