Reviews for Bunratty Castle Mews B&B
Review 1:Rooms were a little cold as was the shower . Couldn't find a lead for the kettle . Unable to locate a hairdryer .
Review 2:Delores couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was top notch.
Review 3:Delores is awesome. Made you feel like you were staying at Mom's or favorite Aunt's house. Looked out and made sure you were taken care of. Gave me reflective clothing to walk at night. Place was great and she made an awesome, delicious traditional Irish Breakfast. If you're in that part of Ireland, her bed and breakfast is the place to stay! Thanx Delores! Sorry I had to leave so early and didn't get to say goodbye!
Review 4:We didn't like having to leave. :)
Review 5:We were made so welcome when we arrived. I also got the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble for the lovely landlady. We will definitely be back.
Review 6:Wifi was spotty and location of single bed to double bed made climbing in and out of bed difficult.
Review 7:Breakfast was excellent. The variety of food offered went over and above any of the other B&Bs we stayed at. Hostess was friendly and welcoming.
Review 8:Didn't like the pump starting up at 5 AM and waking me
Review 9:The manager was a fabulous source of information. She is also a hoot. Breakfast was second to none
Review 10:Everything was fantastic!!!
Review 11:Absolutely fabulous! We stayed 5 days and on arrival regreted it wasn't minimum of 2 weeks! The b&b was immaculate, staff was super helpful and food was gorgeous
Review 12:Close to the castle and local pub. Set in lovely surroundings. Breakfast very nice, although would have been good to have more selection. The host was extremely helpful and very friendly.
Review 13:only 1 hiccup the road to the b and b is not floodlight at night so u cant walk home so u have to get taxi home from village but that was only 6 euro so not a problem just sometimes its nice to walk home wont stop me going back there.
Review 14:how well we were looked after from the minute we got there could not do enough for us, mother in law,s birthday they had a little presy ready in her room when arrived and I recived a little pressy for organising the trip a lovely touch would of loving to stay longer than 1 night a gem in bunratty fantastic value for money will be back.
Review 15:- I loved everything, except I was missing having an iron in my room for work clothes. Dolores was more than happy to let me use her iron and board anytime I needed.
Review 16:- Dolores and her family are incredibly friendly and accommodating. She's a real Irish mammy! - The rooms/beds are very comfortable - Very quiet at night - Lovely breakfast cooked every morning
Review 17:The beds were excellent, so was the breakfast, and you were so very friendly and welcoming, and extremely helpful in driving us to the bus stop in the morning. It made a huge difference to my aunt. Thank you!
Review 18:im afraid to say that the breakfast here was totally unacceptable . Bacon so over cooked you could slice bread with it, eggs so over cooked I certainly would not give them to a dog . Jars of marmalade so empty they belonged in the bin. I had to borrow another guest,s marmalade. Sorry but I am being truthful.
Review 19:Very friendly couple.
Review 20:Bathroom very small, no room for suitcases in bedroom.
Review 21:Friendly staff, good breakfast! Great location, close to Bunratty Castle, easy access to motorway.
Review 22:Owners and staff not friendly. Apparently this is a "business" were they "only deal with numbers" not names. Very welcoming indeed !
Review 23:The breakfast buffet was very good and so was the full irish. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
Review 24:Bathroom was very small and toilet did not flush properly.
Review 25:Staff were very friendly and provided us with additional information on interesting places to visit and general directions. Location of guesthouse is very close to Bunratty castle and a couple of good restaurants.
Review 26:The owner was so kind, helpful and welcoming. My stay was only one night, but I wish it had been longer! Everything one hopes for in a country b and b.
Review 27:rooms a little small but was adequate for the length we spent in them on our way back from airport do ask for her themed rooms they look lovely
Review 28:good breakfast anything you want
Review 29:Delores was wonderful! We were so tired from driving - very long day - and while breakfast is typically over by 10 or so, Delores said to 'lie in' and there were no worries that she would prepare breakfast when we arose. What a gem! So friendly and welcoming. Stay here - for those reasons and the fabulous location just a block or so from Bunratty Castle and Durty Nellies.
Review 30:it was expensive for what was offered, quite a way out of town on an unlit road. neither table lamp in the bedroom worked so I could not read before bed the bathroom was tiny had no lock so the door popped open when touched and I was sharing with my teen son so it was embarrassing and difficult, plus i got a big long hair in my breakfast
Review 31:they where friendly and helpful
Review 32:The wifi could be better as the signal was a little hit and miss around the place and what signal we had was weak.
Review 33:Virtually everything, the owners could not do enough for us.
Review 34:Delores was very welcoming and the breakfast was great! My daughter and I slept well in the comfortable beds. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. I highly recommend this B&B
Review 35:Everything. Delores is a great host, warm, funny, helpful. Plus she makes the best breakfast in all of Ireland! The property is beautiful and the room is private and has all the amenities you would expect. Location is great for Bunratty castle.
Review 36:Don't have anything we didn't like.
Review 37:Dolores was amazing! She ruined us for the rest of the trip...no one could measure up to her hospitality, friendliness and kindness. The whole experience was warm and inviting. The bed was comfortable. The place was quiet so sleeping off the jet lag was easy. The breakfasts were tasty and plentiful and fit for a king! There is a little pub to hang out in where you can enjoy a drink at any time. She provided cold drinking water which we found out later was not always available in b&b's. We took all her suggestions for food and entertainment and we're not disappointed. This was by the best place we stayed and would definitely stay here again!
Review 38:Nothing really. Oh, the wifi didn't seem to work very well in the room. But worked fine in the corridor near the door. Other than that, no complains really.
Review 39:Within walking distance of the castle. Great breakfast, fantastic choice of fruits, juices, cereals as well as the full Irish. Lovely decor. Great host. Really helpful. Even offered to drop us down to the carpark in the morning to collect the car if we wanted to drive to the pub and walk home.
Review 40:standard double bedroom was very small and cramped. Small bowls not cups with tea tray but guess they would changed them if asked. small bathroom. Awkward position of kettle.
Review 41:warm welcome from hosts and very helpful with help on tourist sites. Good breakfast
Review 42:The wonderful welcome by Delores upon arrival and the fact that she had all rooms ready; just needed to call out our names and off we went to the room. The breakfast was absolutely fabulous. Also, when it was heavy rain and 3-4 people wanted to go to Bunratty Castle, she offered to provide a ride - Bunratty Castle is a mile away. On nice days, it was a very nice walk. Delores was extremely kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and the service was outstanding, plusthe place is beautiful. In addition, one day when I was not feeling well and she was going to the Bunratty Castle area, she offered to bring me something back for lunch, where do you ever get that kind of service!!!!
Review 43:That we were not there longer.
Review 44:Dolores was the best host of a trip with all great experiences. We arrived early and caught her in the middle of cleaning up after departure of a large group. She literally welcomed us with open arms, made us comfy with some tea and cakes and entertained us with her stories of the house and area. We were only there one night and had an early flight. She was up at 5 am to fix the coffee and put out breakfast.
Review 45:Our host welcomed us warmly, made us feel very much at home. We had to leave very early the next morning to catch a flight home, so she showed us where the breakfast food was kept, set out some freshly baked scones and brown bread for us to enjoy as well before we left.
Review 46:Door were thin so could hear conversations of 2 rooms next to mine. But the guests were traveling together and had their doors open going back and forth, talking loudly. Not the innkeepers fault. Was quiet after they closed their doors.
Review 47:Delores and husband were hospitable and welcoming. Love delores' energy and spunk. Great breakfast, spotless bathroom. Loved the cows near the property.
Review 48:Overall, everything was lovely. Bunratty Mews is very clean, comfortable, has a atmosphere, beautiful yard, fresh clean linens hug out on the line to dry in the fresh country air and a great big Irish breakfast. Delores is a doll! Very friendly, helpful...the perfect host!
Review 49:You wouldn't walk home but alas not everywhere can be on the main drag !!
Review 50:breakfast was very well cooked , sausages were brown, egg was crisp on the outside whilst just a little soft, perfect with mushrooms and baby tomatoes aplenty. Bedroom was very comfortable.
Review 51:We just loved Delores and her guesthouse. She was so welcoming and helpful and even put hot water bottles in our bed on the first night (it was quite cold)! The breakfast was excellent and the bed was comfortable, what more could you want? Would certainly stay here again.
Review 52:The whole stay was perfect. Dolores was such a treasure and was so welcoming. I esp liked the HOT WATER BOTTLE in the bed. The breakfast was beautiful.
Review 53:Dolores was wonderfully friendly and accommodating. Food was good, room was comfortable. Very convenient to the area. Wish we cold have stayed longer and would definitely stay there again.
Review 54:The bedroom was cold even though the heating was on. The shower was also cold early in the morning.
Review 55:The host is very hospitable and there is a great feeling of welcome. The sitting room and bar are lovely. The breakfast is very good.
Review 56:location right near Bunratty and Durty Nellies. Great place to spend the last night in Ireland as it is just a quick ride to the airport. wonderful breakfast buffet and they also cooked to order, relaxing public areas, honor bar. owner Dolores delightful and helpful; told the story of how the place used to be a convent. will definitely stay again when flying out of Shannon. for people new to traveling to Ireland--plan your trip so that you arrive early enough to see Bunratty and the folk park, relax at the B and B and then go back for the banquet at Bunratty and /or Durty Nellies. then enjoy the wonderful breakfast before heading to the airport.
Review 57:The Bunratty Castle Mews was an excellent property to stay at while we were on vacation in Ireland. The room was super clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The owner was so super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this accommodation.
Review 58:Delores, the owner, went out of her way to accommodate us! She made us a late breakfast (we arrived at 7:00 a.m and went right to bed), she drove us to the village center so we could catch the bus to Limerick City. She was lively, fun, and a good cook too! Would go back there in a heartbeat!!
Review 59:The decor of the place was a bit much. There were decorations everywhere. While some people may enjoy it, it wasn't for us. The food tasted like it was mostly microwaved. I was disappointed the the freshness.
Review 60:The location was comfortable. It was a short drive to Bunratty castle and folk park. Unfortunately it is not a safe location to walk to after dark.
Review 61:Dolores and her husband could not have been more accommodating to my family! The rooms were warm and inviting and having the little bar in the house was an added bonus! We had a short, but lovely stay at the Castle Mews B&B!
Review 62:Just a teeny bit further from Bunratty castle than the impression given from websites when booking - OK if you have a car, but 1/2 to 3/4 mile on foot.
Review 63:Dolores was a perfect hostess, and extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and offered so many choices. Although pretty busy, we were not disturbed by any noises, and therefore slept well.
Review 64:Lady of B& B was so friendly& Went out of her way to help us met us in the village and brought us up to the house Breakfast was fab cannot praise this B & B enough will definitely be returning
Review 65:Great location to the castle, if you have booked any activities there. I can recommend the "Irish Night" , so much fun!!! We had a good night sleep very silent and I liked the funny lady serving us for breakfast. I especially enjoyed the huge choice of cheese:)) Nice stay!!! Good price for a 4* B&B!!!!
Review 66:Breakfast was very good and the lady of the house wS friendly and welcoming. The decor in the room we stayed in was of African theme and it was fun :)
Review 67:The bar area was a little disappointing, but local pub made up for it.
Review 68:We loved everything. Dolores and Gary were wonderful hosts. Dolores was very informative about the area and a pleasure to meet. The place was spotless, very cosy and the breakfasts huge and superb.
Review 69:A true family home where you feel like all guests are made part of it and they've got relatives all over the world. Dolores is simply adorable, we felt truly spoiled by her... so helpful and insightful - it's like she knew our needs better than us, and breakfast was yummy!
Review 70:Delores and Gary were the first Irish folks we met, truly wonderful genuine people. They made us feel welcome and at home. Very kind people. We highly recommend this B&B.
Review 71:We originally picked this B&B for it's location as we were flying out of Shannon the next day. Our hosts gave us great suggestions on how to spend our last night in Ireland. Bunratty Castle's Irish dinner/dance program was a perfect ending followed by a few pints at Durty Nellie's. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Review 72:wonderful location, peaceful. rooms adequate, very clean. breakfast second to none!! Delores very helpful , so friendly and warm. will recommend to all coming to Ireland.
Review 73:We had been assigned the room 215 where the heating was on (in July) and impossible to turn off...fortunately they agreed on changing it, the temperature was tropical
Review 74:Very nice building. Good position to go to Cork
Review 75:Only staying for 1 night
Review 76:Delores was a wonderful host, great sense of humour, delicious breakfast with a great variety of cereals, fruits, cakes and cooked options
Review 77:The B&B has cosy rooms, with good facilities (great power shower). Breakfast is very extensive and delicious. Besides the room, there is a bar and a comfortable lounge. Fast free wifi is available. On top of it all, Dolores is a great host.
Review 78:The place needed a serious dejunking, there was so much stuff in the hallways and on every surface. Floor mats everywhere made rolling luggage a challenge and are a trip hazard. I think that the breakfast here was the poorest we had in Ireland. Again attention to detail is needed. Fruits were past their prime, baked goods were either store bought or just not very appealing and we were left feeling like we really were not very tempted by any of the offerings.
Review 79:Hostess was lovely, very welcoming and helpful. She gave us maps of the area and made recommendations for things to see and do. The location is great, close to Bunratty and central for visiting the Shannon area. Bed was comfortable with nice duvet etc.
Review 80:Very dark lane at night in winter from village. Some lighting would be helpful.
Review 81:Welcoming.Hearty Breakfast.
Review 82:Loved our host, really comfortable room and wonderful breakfast. Unfortunately not within walking distance of Bunratty.

Review 85:Very convenient for our travel purpose enjoyed the hospitality
Review 86:everything was top class including host and breakfast
Review 87:A little too far to walk to the village.
