Reviews for Hotel Marco Polo
Review 1:It's very far from Venice, I don't recommend to have it travelers who want to see Venice.
Review 2:"Business" hotel for good price, near airport, hotel has a good own parking.
Review 3:I higlhy recommend it. Helpful and corteous staff, close to bus stop to go to train station and Venice. New and very comfortable rooms. Perfect shower.
Review 4:Simply nothing
Review 5:Very nice place, away from the hustle and bustle of Venice. Great for families. Very easy access to Venice by bus and tram. Comfortable, clean and good service.
Review 6:Simplicity and warmth with which we were received was excellent. Great location . Air conditioning worked perfectly. Breakfast in the room at no cost.
Review 7:Reception open till 11 P.M, after that the doors were closed. Room small /twin room !/. Shower cabin very small. Three channels on TV available. Not all lights were working. European plugs not possible to plug in.
Review 8:There was nothing I could stated as "I like it".
Review 9:Beds were a little hard and had two singles pushed together and they kept sliding apart
Review 10:Location was excellent and had the best breakfast selection of our entire trip
Review 11:Shower is so small that you cannot move there!
Review 12:Bus stop close by, 15 min to the airport or Venice center. great breakfast (just the coffee, really? in Italy? it feels like a joke :( ), very clean room.
Review 13:It's a hotel with rather basic but clean rooms, which is well suited for a just an overnight sleep while spending the day exploring Venice. Location is outside the Venice island, but very conveniently located on the city bus route which easily takes you directly to Venice. Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is a buffet, and wi-fi was working fine. Hotel parking is convenient, although not very big, but serves a purpose. Recommended, as it provides really good value for money.
Review 14:Located handily for the airport. We got a taxi there for about €20 as it was late at night and raining. Bus available back to the airport €8 each prepay ticket. Hotel room given strong smell.of smoke. Informed reception and was immediately given another room no questions asked very good service. Local pizza place 5 minutes stroll down the road right out of the hotel was very good, full or locals. We arrived around 9.30 on a Sunday no problem to be served. Food very good. Would stay here again. Hotel rooms on the basic side but clean and fine for a short stay. Road noise when window open as busy main road through the night but fine if window closed. Breakfast continental was very good, great selection and lots of it. Shower very good.
Review 15:Close enough to Venice, 20 min on a bus The stuff was excellent, always smile, kind and ready to provide a great service any moment of the day or the night. We quickly notice attention to details, all done with love and care. Will come there again!
Review 16:Reception exceptionally helpful, nice breakfast, good location. No 19 bus takes 10/15 min to central Venice. Tickets from hotel €1.50 each way. Great takeaway pizza place minutes away
Review 17:We booked shuttle service for an early flight from the airport. When we checked in at night they said they can't provide it because the driver was off. But after insisting for a while they sorted a driver for us and all went well. Also, there are large windows with see through curtains in the bathroom and people can see you from the street when the light is on.
Review 18:Clean hotel with easy access. Good value for money.
Review 19:One of the reception team wasn't very helpful when we asked about getting the bus into the city. Infact she sent us in the wrong direction to the bus stop and to buy the tickets. The toilet seat in the room was cracked and looked like it had been like that for a long time. The waiter at breakfast was quite scary and precious about the tongs!!!
Review 20:The hotel is excellent value for money. Its a bit out the way, but good public transport links to the city. Room was very clean.
Review 21:The location was claimed to be in walking distance frim Marco Polo airport but it was 10 minute drive! Room was cold and the furness was not working.
Review 22:Nothing.
Review 23:The location was excellent for us. Martina at reception was very helpful. Her advice enabled us to take a trip to Murano in the short time we had in Venice. This hotel is also very good value for money. There are a couple of good restaurants nearby.
Review 24:The Hotel is easy access to the airport. The village is very cute. The staff could not be more accommodating. It was a good experience. Would definitely go back & recommend this hotel
Review 25:They did not cancel the pre-authorisation taken on my credit card even after taking the payment thru the same credit card. Thereby my credit limit has been blocked to that extent even as of today.
Review 26:Overall facilities and the location
Review 27:We stayed here, for our pre cruise, and also post cruise. Its in a small village but on the main road to Venice and the airport,(about in the middle) they have a shuttle to either pick you up or drop you off. Very friendly hotel would stay here again.
Review 28:Friendly helpful staff. Arrived early and the room was cleaned within fifteen minutes allowing us to check in so we could make the most of our overnight stay. Told where and how much the bus would cost and got tickets from reception.
Review 29:I havent had anything negative abt the hotel. it was all good
Review 30:Its little bit far from venice city centre but has excellent connectivity. Apart from fact that you wont be in heart of city this hotel has everything that you need and its perfect
Review 31:Rooms on the front of the hotel can hear some road noise, weak Wi-Fi
Review 32:Staff were very helpful and accommodated our requests, quick to respond to slightest issue.
Review 33:Walls are rather thin so hotel is noisy, no need to set your alarm clock... Hotel is quite far from the centre of Venice. Estimate about 40-60 minutes to get to piazzale Roma. This could be a bit inconvenient, especially at night when public transport from Venice centre to Mestre is hard to find and/or the few buses running get overcrowded.
Review 34:Friendly staff, free parking in the backyard.
Review 35:Nothing
Review 36:Big variety for breakfast, spacious room and bathroom, great location if you want to visit Venice (approx. 20 min ride by bus, bus stop next to the hotel).
Review 37:Staff was very helpful and informative about the surrounding area, and quickest routes to the islands. Breakfast and the room were very nice and practical, and the location of the hotel was good - right on the route of the important buslines, while still offering peace and quiet at night.
Review 38:Very thin walls if you have loud neighbors (not hotel's fault of course). Man at reception in morning was less than helpful as the previous day we had been told by the woman at reception that they could have a small breakfast ready for us since we had to catch the bus at 4:48AM. and would miss the included breakfast. He was totally disinterested and directed us to the cappuccino machine and some biscuits in a package. We don't know what she had meant by a "breakfast" so maybe that was it anyway. If you are traveling early, plan on another source for food if possible as it is very very expensive in the Marco Polo airport and very limited.
Review 39:Location just outside Venice and airport off the number 5 bus line was perfect for early(7:30AM) flight departure. Bus line is a quick 15 minutes back to Piazzale Roma. Woman at reception when we arrived was very helpful and knowledgeable. (sorry I did not get her name) Room was spacious and clean and ready early in day. Wifi great!
Review 40:We were given a friendly & warm greeting by the Hotel Manager, who was very helpful in giving us local transport information & arranged a shuttle service to the airport for us. Rooms were spotlessly clean & breakfast was ample, fresh & catered for all tastes.
Review 41:This was a stopover for us on route to airport and we felt well rested and treated well by staff thank you breakfast was the best of all we had on our holiday
Review 42:Good place to stay near the airport. Well insulated from traffic. Bright, modern rooms, clean and quiet. Hotel shuttle took us to airport even at 5.45am! It's only a short bus ride out of Piazzale Roma so could even be used for visiting Venice
Review 43:the staff are extremely rude and do not have any interest in helping you with anything. Definitely not going back. I wouldn't recommend it.
Review 44:Leaving was the best part
Review 45:Great location close to bus stop. Easy to find. Good value for the money. Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful for bus travel to and from Venice.
Review 46:Air con wasn't working in one of our rooms, receptionist did try to adjust it, but it still did not come on, only a minor problem though as only there for one day.
Review 47:Close to airport and hotel easy to find as bus stop almost outside hotel. Excellent bathroom and very good shower pressure.
Review 48:Location very handy if you don't want the hassle of parking your car somewhere on the mainland and then staying in Venice. The hotel has its own car park and then it's a doddle to get the bus in. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly - this makes any stay so much better.
Review 49:Air conditioning never quite got the room cold enough.
Review 50:Excellent location 5 minutes from the airport, nice restaurant across the street, very clean and modern.
Review 51:Some of the staff were nice, others not so much. I phoned a few daysearlier to ask a question (in English). The young lady didn'tunderstand exactly what I was asking, so her answer didn't help me.When I was rephrasing the question to try to get the answer I needed, she said goodbye and hang up! When I got there, one employee (nightreceptionist) was nice, the other (day receptionist) just ok.
Review 52:Location, with great bus connections to both the airport and Venice.Just a few meters away you have a bus stop to take the bus to VeniceMarco Polo airport (10 minutes by bus) or to take the bus to Venice (15-20 minutes). I chose the hotel mostly for being close to the airport, asI had a very early flight the next day, but I was still able to go fordinner in Venice, which was nice! Careful, the first bus The hotel issimple, but comfortable and clean. Wifi is free and works well.
Review 53:- free parking is provided but hope that you have a small car - street noise possible.
Review 54:- close to the airport, easy to go to Mestre and Venezia of course - breakfast was ok - the hotel has a distinctive colour (pink) so it is easy to find :)
Review 55:staff wax excellent ! instruction, restorant tips and more. comfort parking, good room, good location near marco polo airport, we had an early flight, the owner re-scedualed his full and tasty breakfast to 6:00am only for us. I have never seen such a service and care. highly recomended.
Review 56:Very helpful receptionist when we arrived, gave lots of useful advice without having to ask. Hotel is spotlessly clean an smells lovely!! Buses are literally across the street every 10-15 mins into Venice an only €1.50, also 10 minutes to the airport via #5 bus. Rooms were bright, clean, comfortable, everything we needed! Breakfast was also nice and had small minibar in our room. I would definitely recommend this hotel, I don't think I would have found anywhere better for value for money. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.
Review 57:The hotel is totally overrated. It is a small pink building situated in the middle of nowhere. Facilities advertised are also overrated. From what was described in the reviews I was totally mislead. Where the 3 star status comes from is a mystery.
Review 58:Cleanliness
Review 59:No Wifi in the room but perfect wifi at the front desk.
Review 60:Clean and comfortable. Receptionist Diana was just amazing!!! My parents could speak Russian to her. There is restaurant nearby Colours that serves best pizza and fresh shrimps. Everything was great
Review 61:Nothing fancy at all, wood floors, you can hear the other people scraping their chairs ... Basic amenities, we were only there 1 night, it was fine for that ... Cheap enough
Review 62:Staff were friendly, convenient spot for the airport, excellent breakfast
Review 63:Windows opened to alley and got mosquitoes in room which made it hard to sleep.
Review 64:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were very good in comparison to others that we had in Italy. Location was close to water taxis, St. Mark's Square and great restaurants.
Review 65:Staff was accommodating and pleasant. Close to busstop which took you to the canals for 1.30 euro. ATM across the street, as well as place to buy the bus tickets.
Review 66:No.
Review 67:Size of the room. Location is 5 mins. from the airport. Good and cheap Chinese owner Italian food is just opposite the Hotel. Bus to Pizzae Roma is 1 min. and you can find the bus ticket at the reception.
Review 68:Could have done with a few restaurants nearby. However the one called colors was excellent. They will cook anything you want.
Review 69:The location was excellent for Venice, 10\15 minutes by bus that goes every 15 from almost outside the hotel.
Review 70:room was very small, three single beds with just inches in between
Review 71:staff very helpful and friendly Allowed early check in and to leave our car in free parking after we checked out Good breakfast
Review 72:The WiFi did not work 90% of the time. If you needed WiFi, you had tostay by the reception area. If you wanted to talk to someone in privacy, there was no way! You go into your room & no WiFi. It was aninconvenience to keep going downstairs to check your email or face time. Also there was a chemical or paint smell in the room coming out of theair conditioner. They did fix it with air spray. I got a headache fromthe combined smells!
Review 73:The owner was very nice & helpful! She arranged to take us to theairport. She was fantastic & very friendly!
Review 74:I little bit noisy street but good quality windows do their job :-)
Review 75:Clean and tidy Friendly staff Comfortable bed and spacious and clean bathroom Simple but fresh and tasty breakfast Free car park Good location-travel to Venice about 20min by bus for €2,5
Review 76:Excellent location in a quiet residential neighborhood. Parking is available in premises at no extra cost. A bus stop is around the corner and it takes you to Venice in 10 minutes. Excellent staff.
Review 77:We stayed 3 nights and thought it a pity that the owner "gouged" us on the last night by increasing the room rate by over €30 without telling us before hand .... and quite offhand about it. Other staff we're great though. Yes we'd likely stay again, but check ALL costs prior.
Review 78:Good location, only a 10 min bus ride to Venice or airport, with either bus at the door, restaurants within easy walk, parking, good breakfast
Review 79:convenient for an early flight out of venice. otherwise a 25 euro cab from the bus depot in venice, or a bus ride. Only stay if you have an early flight.
Review 80:We stayed for two nights at the hotel. Its location makes it a perfect place to stay if you want to explore venice but take a step back from the crowds. The bus stop is just a minute's walk from the hotel and takes about 10-12 mins to reach venice. The room we booked was a quadruple and it was so clean and comfortable. There were two bathrooms complete with showers so that just made it even more perfect. The staff was ok..a bit reserved but polite. The breakfast selection was also good. The airport was just a 6 minute drive away from the hotel and we used their shuttle service to get there which cost us less than if we had taken the bus. Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to visit venice but needs some peace and quiet as well.
Review 81:The bad was small, pillows are not comfort.
Review 82:Quiet place, bus station number 5 (to Venica and Marco Polo Airport) and number 15 (to Mestre) are very close. Staff are polite, good internet and breakfast. Close to Venice.
Review 83:Wifi was very slow but it wasn't out high priority. I requested for queen-size bed but we got two single beds, which wasn't much comfortable.
Review 84:The lady receptionist was very helpful. Easily agreed upon early check-in. Provided all the necessary info about public transportation to the Venice. The rooms/bathroom was very clean. Simple but very nice breakfast.
Review 85:We chose the hotel because of a swimming pool but it still closed in May The food in the restaurant is very much appreciated here but we thought it is somewhat basic (and salty)
Review 86:Excellent scenery Nice, friendly hosts Our daughters (and we) enjoyed the breakfast
Review 87:The Breakfast was fair, the quality could be improved!
Review 88:We liked the spacious room and two balconies. Even the bathroom had its own huge balcony with street view. Also very close to public transportation which takes you right into Venice centrum.
Review 89:Everything was pretty average I think I might have gone with something a little more expensive and closer to venice to really get the feeling of being in Venice
Review 90:The location and price were pretty good for last minute planning!
Review 91:Close to the airport - 10 minutes bus ride Close to stop of airport bus 15-20 minute ride to venice Close to stop of bus that takes you to venice cheaper than hotels in Venice - nice alternative breakfast was included in the price
Review 92:Although situated right next to the bus stop, it still takes a little effort to get into the heart of Venice. There was quite a bit road noise in our 3rd level room but otherwise a comfortable stay.
Review 93:the front desk staff were wonderful and went out of their way to help us figure out bus schedules into Venice. Close to a grocery store if you want to save money on snacks, drinks and breakfast items.
Review 94:Very good hotel. Not far from Venice and from airport with efficient bus services to both. Good and quiet room with comfortable bed and all necessary facilities. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Own free parking. Free wifi.
Review 95:The Wifi did not work in our room and was even spotty downstairs at times. Seems common on our Italian Trip.
Review 96:Location to the airport was very convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful. Facilities were quite nice.
Review 97:The hotel is only about 3Km from Marco Polo airport and it is within metres of a main bus route into Venice with the buses running every 15 minutes. Buy your bus tickets from reception and they will cost you less than if you pay on the bus. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were clean and well maintained. Overall a very enjoyable one night stay.
Review 98:The receptionist helped us with advice about the buses - which wasgreat - but his advice was out of date! The cost of a ticket to thecity was listed as 1.30 but it turned out to be 2.50 - More important -we had an early flight and were told that we could catch the number 5bus at 5:47 - after waiting, shivering, at the bus stop until it gotlight enough to see the posted timetable at the bus stop we learnedthat the first bus was at 6:22 - luckily, we still made out flight- butwere chilled to the bone!
Review 99:The Marco Polo is a short bus ride from the airport. There are also citybuses that go into Venice - an inexpensive alternative to being in thecity. If you have more time, I would recommend staying in Venice - butif you arrive late or have an early flight as we did, then the MarcoPolo is a handy choice.
Review 100:Quick check-in - comfortable, had a safe in the room, good WIFI, close to reliable public transit into Venice and Airport, restaurant options nearby, helpful, friendly staff - felt safe as a female solo traveller. Loved that they had my country flag flying - a little piece of home.
Review 101:Without any doubt, the worst experience ever!We live in Europe almost 5 years, and travel a lot, most of the times we bring our dog with us, and never had problem, anywhere in Europe. According to booking.com, this hotel accept pets, but once we checked in, we were told by the receptionist that we couldn't leave the dog alone in the room... which does not make any sense at all, but after offering to leave a deposit to cover any possible damage caused by our dog, the receptionist agreed to let the dog stay in the room while we were visiting Venice. When we were leaving the hotel for dinner, the manager showed up, and in a very rude way (raising his voice) told us that we could not leave the dog in the room. Since he was being horribly unpleasant, and threatening us, we decided to look for another hotel that allowed pets, to what we were told by the manager, that we could leave, but we still had to pay for the 3 nights we had booked! He claimed there is a law in Italy prohibiting anybody to leave a pet alone anywhere, because it could be interpreted as animal cruelty. If there is such a law, then it is totally misleading to advertise a hotel as pet friendly. Long story short, this "gentleman" almost ruined our whole vacation in Venice (which we had planned a year in advance), because we waisted a lot of time looking for another accommodation and paying a lot more money. By the way, even though we only stayed 1 night at Hotel Marco Polo we were forced to pay 50% of the total cost in cash, and they even tried to get the rest of the money by charging our credit card. I highly doubt this pet law exists, because we have been with our dog in Bellagio without any problem, but if it is true, then I think booking.com should warn its customers about this law in Italy.Bottom line, Mr. Orlando Vermiglio, the hotel manager is in the wrong line of business, because he doesn't have the slightest idea about customer service or common courtesy.
Review 102:The hotel is just far enough away from the airport to hit 30 Euro charge for taxis, but also a distance away from Venice; and the area is an absolute desert with nowhere decent to eat anywhere in the locality.
Review 103:It was clean and reasonably convenient.
Review 104:This is my first time in Europe a hotel kept my passport during my staying as a guarantee . I felt too bad about it . The reception lady was very rude and acting not friendly
Review 105:Close to airport, bus stop to Venice and other places! Helpful staff, storing our luggage, nice breakfast! The place to stay if you want to explore and have a lot of luggage! Nice and quiet!
Review 106:TV was impossible to figure out.
Review 107:For the price range we were very happy. The local meat restaurant was superb. And the manager arranged a reservation for the 6 of us. We were the only guests of the night.
Review 108:shuttle service for pay wasn't included on the site, was expecting a free service.
Review 109:-telephone assistance for arrival -suggestions for an evening meal -tea boiler with tray for tea in the room, lovely and soothing!
Review 110:The shower cabin is extremely small and I imagine only a child would be comfortable in it. I'm talking something like 0.4 x 0.4 meters.
Review 111:The room was spacious and very clean. The staff was extremely helpful and informative regarding visiting Venice and the service was overall good.
Review 112:Lady manager of hotel Mrs Carmina it isnt a nice and understanding person! Customer service team knows all the situation ,i will not elaborate in here but for sure i will not recommend this hotel to any of my friends.
Review 113:Customer service team is really close to clients and their support was very nice ,unfortunately without a fair result.
Review 114:The location is quite ugly, per se.
Review 115:It is convenient if you need to stay close to the airport and also for visiting the city, as public transport is just steps off the building and it taken 15' to Piazzale Roma.
Review 116:Perfect hotel to stay at to avoid the incredible of costs of Venice. Close to airport and step right outside hotel to take one of either 2 buses that take you right to the heart of Venice in 10 minutes. Great choice!!
Review 117:Great location 3 min. walk to the bus line to bring you to Venice and you can purchase your ticket at the hotel! I would stay here if I were to return to this city.
Review 118:Bed comfort was fair in the apartment; one bed is a fold-out which my daughter found uncomfortable. Shower is TINY.
Review 119:MarcoPolo is close to Venice proper, and very close to airport and bus lines that take you where you need to go. Staff was efficient, rooms were clean, breakfast was good, hotel rooms were quiet except for rooms on the street, but the night was fairly quiet.
The Fine Print
Please note the shuttle service must be booked in advance.Pets cannot stay in the room alone.
