Reviews for Atrion Hotel
Review 1:See above.
Review 2:Why is it that the desk had no lamp or other illumination and the front desk said it was impossible to provide it? No use trying to work after dark, I guess. But this is not rocket science!
Review 3:Some of the rooms smell like cigarette smoke. Thought it was just mine, but heard people talking about it at breakfast as well. I mentioned it to the front desk during my stay (told me I had a nonsmoking room) and at check-out (said they'd look into it). I think it is coming in through the AC vent somehow.
Review 4:Good breakfast and wifi.
Review 5:Room was supposedly non-smoking but reeked of smoke. We were told the ashtray was in the room so guests could smoke on the balcony.
Review 6:Very helpful staff. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 7:Would have better if it had tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Review 8:The location was great, walking distance to waterfront and city centre. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We used the jostle as a base for stay, so great that we extended our booking for another 3 nights.
Review 9:-
Review 10:Breakfast was excellent, a lot of choice, fresh orange juice, home made pastries, large variety of salted meat. Room was clean, calm with a huge mirror. Confortable and large bed. Bathroom was clean. Hotel close to the harbour (15min walk) and the town center (5min walk). Nice restaurants (1-2 min walk) from the hotel.
Review 11:Though we specifically asked for a non-smoking room and were assigned one, the room strongly smelled of smoke. Since the floors were carpeted, it was very difficult to air out the room and get rid of the smell. Additionally, the air conditioner on the top floor of the hotel did not work well at night. It was so hot!
Review 12:Nothing. The hotel doesn't have a car park but there is a private one to the rear of the premises for €8 per day.
Review 13:Comfortable and well located hotel. Clean, well equipped room with balcony. Staff were helpful and efficient and the breakfast menu was varied and tasty. Reasonably priced.
Review 14:We stayed at this hotel in the middle of the city on the last night of our stay in Crete and we wanted a short trip to the airport. I give it good points as it is a very clean nice modern hotel. For Europeans it’s pretty much what you would find anywhere else. The breakfast buffet was typical continental.
Review 15:I booked a taxi to collect me at the airport through the hotel website.Paid over 18 euros and the taxi didn't meet me as arranged. Iwouldn't do this again. My taxi back to the airport cost 10 euros.
Review 16:Location, friendly helpful staff
Review 17:Nice room, comfortable beds, excellent bathroom, good food, quiet air conditioning, friendly and helpful staff. In a quiet but convenient part of town.
Review 18:AC in the room was not very quiet and working unpredictably.
Review 19:Clean rooms, nice staff and excellent breakfast. Close to city center and the harbor. With a car you can reach all important roads in any direction within 5 - 10 minutes.
Review 20:The bathrooms were VERY small, and the door was only very light, so that everyone in the room could hear what was going on in the bathroom.. that's a bit uncomfortable
Review 21:The breakfast was AWESOME and the location really good, close to the shops and the harbour
Review 22:At first they gave us a room that was smaller than what we had seen in the pictures - and on the second floor with no view from the windows, and a tiny balcony. Clearly not what we had booked. We talked with the people at reception, and the next day they changed our room to a much better one.
Review 23:Great people - very warm service. Good breakfast with plenty of options.
Review 24:can improve the cleaning and the smell of smoke in (our) room. Otherwise notthing to complain about
Review 25:The room was great although the carpet had some stains. Also felt some smoke from cigarettes but unclear from where but we asked for a non smoking room. Bathroom excellent and so was the location and the breakfast! Overall I'd definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends
Review 26:we booked a triple room. In the booking page, it specifically says the room is with balcony and a view. However, the room is without a view and no balcony. Most terribly, the window can only half open. The room is also very small. The staff says this is the only room they left. No matter what room they left, the most important is they cannot treat guests like this. If they do not have room left, they should not sell this price on the website!!
Review 27:The wifi and breakfast are good
Review 28:Good location, very good breakfast selection. In addition, we got an unexpected (and at no additional cost) upgrade to an upper story suite which had a wonderful view of the sea.
Review 29:Not very close to a beach, especially if you don't have a car
Review 30:Very close to port, airport, downtown shops, breakfast was amazing, rooms were nice, staff was very helpful, close to bus stops
Review 31:Very pleasant stay, reception was very helpful and friendly, very clean and confortable bed. Good wifi, a lot of choices for breakfast, quiet and airconditioned.
Review 32:Hard to find parking nearby but within 5 min walk it is possible. We stayed in a family room on 6th floor, the room is good but a couple of odd things - no latch on the bathroom door, the doors between the two sections of the suite can't be closed, the balcony wall is a bit low on the side with really scary view down, wouldn't let kids go there.
Review 33:Nice and quiet despite of the planes taking off above the town, with windiws shut and aircon on - very quiet sleep. Mattress is unexpectedly good for a hotel bed, never felt so comfortable. Good choice for breakfast. Nice outside seating area in the restaurant.
Review 34:Beds were hard. You could see through the bathroom door and also no shower screen. Carpet in room had terrible smell. Aircon was just air. No cooling
Review 35:Staff were friendly
Review 36:The airconditional system was not clean which and coused disconfort.
Review 37:Breakfast. Everything was near (port, museum, city center). It was quite and lovely.
Review 38:It was very loud in the night due to air and car traffic. They have no proper hair dryer. They have no scale to check if luggage is within limits of air carrier.
Review 39:We needed a place to stay to catch the morning ferry to Santorini (we had been staying in Chania for most of our visit to Crete). The hotel was fine for one night. Basic and fairly centrally located for restaurants, etc. but still too far to walk to the port for the ferry (we took a cab and it took less than 10 minutes). The breakfast made up for the dullness of everything else. Amazing spread that will keep you full for hours.
Review 40:Request for sea view room, made on reservation several months ago , ignored. Small, single bed marooned in middle of room, had to get out of bed to switch off lights. Carpet grubby. Smelt of cigarettes.
Review 41:There was a strong smell of smoke in the room. We had to open the windows but still it was very much uncomfortable. No signs of "no smoking" in the room
Review 42:good hotel - very nice rooms
Review 43:The streets around the hotel are a bit noisy, city center area in Heraklion is badly looking (not the hotel fault off course)
Review 44:Location is very convenient for overnight stay, central car parking is proposed with special price 6 eur/day and located in 5 min walking distance. City center is also only 3 min walking
Review 45:the beds in the room at the 6th floor have a lot of vibrations and there is a bad smell in all the room
Review 46:the hotel is really in central position and the staff is very kind and helpful
Review 47:We had an early flight & requested earlier breakfast. We were offered sweet biscuits with tea & coffee. Pretty unstaisfactory.
Review 48:Front desk staff- informative & helpful.
Review 49:Mediocre wi-fi connection & airconditioners that probably need replacement. Smell of cigarette smoke in the soft furnishings
Review 50:Helpful staff, great views & sunset from balcony.
Review 51:Very little parking around the hotel and room was a little small for us.
Review 52:Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of variety. The location was central. The outdoor area for breakfast was also nice
Review 53:The shower and toilet were very close together but the bathroom was very clean so we didn't mind this. Also the only English Channel on TV was bbc news.
Review 54:Room size was big. Breakfast had a good selection of cooked food and freshly prepared fruit salads every morning. The location was ideal for everything we needed.
Review 55:Walking distance to town center and Port. Fabulous breakfast offerings. Close to shopping (25th August St). Spacious and clean rooms. Perfect for families.
Review 56:The environs were not the best in town. Would have liked on site parking - but we knew this was not possible when we booked.
Review 57:The breakfast selection was great. The location was central and served our purposes well. The staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and well maintained.
Review 58:A bit noisy (I had a room on the street side)
Review 59:Brand new or well renewed hotel Very close to the city center Good WiFi (access and speed) pretty good breakfast very kind staff
Review 60:Very nice modern hotel two minutes from the seafront and five from the main shopping area. Easy to find and to reach by foot from the bus station. Breakfast was buffet style with an excellent selection. I'd highly recommend it
Review 61:Very tiny room. Only one socket working in our room and as it was a Sunday, no one in maintenance around to fix it.
Review 62:Central location, plenty of restaurants around. Close to the sea front. Good wifi and excellent breakfast. Large balcony with view of the sea.
Review 63:Carpet in the room was old and stained. Bathroom is small.
Review 64:Good location, close to the city center, the archeological museum and the harbor. Very friendly staff. We had to leave at 5 am for the airport and they proposed a small breakfast and ordered a taxi for us. Taxi to the airport was 10€. Wifi works well.
Review 65:We booked a triple room but they gave a double room with an extra bed to us. The room is very tiny so they had to take away the sofa, coffee table out of the room. The horrible thing is they put the extra bed in a corner with TV over the head. Also there is no kettle ,water ,cup or glass in the room. I don't think it worths euro 109 per night.
Review 66:Wifi is very good
Review 67:We had to change a room as the first one had quite disgusting smell (from smoking) although we booked a non-smoking room! The smell in the second room we were offerred was better, but we still could smell it (assume this comes from conditioning system). As result, we got smaller room and no discount. Elevator quite small.
Review 68:Location was rather good, close to downtown and sea. Breakfast was very good, much better than in other hotels we had in Crete. Bathroom ok, not loud.
Review 69:We were able to check into our room early, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast just excellent. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Go for the 'City Centre' car park and mention Atrium for a good deal.
Review 70:Some of the bloom is off the rose when (1) a part of the wall is unpainted, (2) the electric outlet pulls away from the wall when you pull out a plug, and (3) the room safe doesn't work after several tries. (The hotel was very responsive to try to fix the safe and did on the third try.) The breakfast attendant did her best not to engage with the guests--probably a language barrier.
Review 71:The hotel is very well located, although that means it can be noisy. We were on the 6th floor, and with the HVAC fan on, all was good. Receptionists were excellent: very helpful and gracious. We had the suite, which was very nice. Excellent bed.
Review 72:The location, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast with many hot and cold choices as well as value in wintertime made this hotel a great choice. It is modern and we had a large patio balcony.
Review 73:We had to change the room from the top floor to a lower floor (but was accepted without any big discussion!) as there comes stinky air via the ventilation into the room. This seems to be "normal"/known.
Review 74:The breakfast buffet was high standard with a lot of choice.
Review 75:The room was a "value room" and this meant it was rather cramped and had very little drawer space, just one bedside drawer and shelf unit for the 2 of us. If we go there again it would be worth paying a bit more.
Review 76:The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast choice was very good and the dining room was very spacious. Best thing was the comfortable bed.
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:When we arrived the room we were given had not been done up, the staff were very helpful in providing another room. Initially we accepted the room but found that it was very dusty so we asked for another room, the staff were very helpful in finding a suitable room for us with a nice terrace (we changed 3 times). Location was great, close to the harbour, port and the main town centre (walking distance). Initially a bit tricky to find. Buffet Breakfast was very nice.
Review 79:The balcony was not necessary to us, as we don't smoke, but it'll probably be useful to other people coming after us.
Review 80:Nice and quiet. People at the reception are very helpful. Breakfasts are well thought-out.
Review 81:Good value for money overall. The location is very convenient, just off the city centre, close enough to walk to it in a few minutes but not too close to suffer the noise from the clubs and cafes. The highlight was the breakfast buffet (also there is a nice outdoor space for breakfast/lunch) and the quality of the mattress.
Review 82:At breakfast i asked a waited for a hot milk. After waiting for 15 minutes i asked again and she told me that forgot about it. But it happened only once, next day she already remembered. My windows overlooked the yard and there is a dog who is always barking, almost non-stop. Fortunately, i went to bed very late and it didn't bark after 3am. The carpet in the room is very old and with marks on it. They need to change it. But it didn't really bother me at all. The rest was very good.
Review 83:The location is perfect: right in the center and also 5min from the port by taxi. I firstly was given a room where i couldn't even breath. I guess other travelers smoked a lot there before and thus the walls and furniture absorbed this smell. Though i really liked the room itself. I asked to change it and was offered another room with 2 separate beds which i liked and which didn't have this terrible smell. It had a balcony overlooking the sea - also a benefit. Brekfast was great, much choice and tasty. though i don't remember there were fruits but i usually don't need them. The room is comfy and mine had a window into the yard, so no traffic. The reception personnel was friendly and helpful
Review 84:I don't think there was anything we didn't like about this hotel
Review 85:Hotel is located nearby the main attractions in Heraclion, the service was professional, the breakfast was very rich with variable meals. Quiet and intimate room. We enjoyed our staying very much.
Review 86:Only stayed one night but was clean and comfortable and rooms were a good size. Staff were very helpful giving advice from where to eat dinner to how to hire a car. Would stay there again.
Review 87:There was no slippers, receptionist said that slippers are only for first class room. 2nd day there was no shampo. 3rd day there was water cut. The room, the bath are very very small. I paid 75 Euros per night but very poor quality compared to the price.
Review 88:Location is excellent.
Review 89:There was an odd smell in our room, which led us to keep the balcony door open for fresh air. It worked just fine!
Review 90:Friendly staff, helpful, and gave us good info . The breakfast was great!
Review 91:The hotel is ideally situated near the waterfront. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was included and there was a good selection of food
Review 92:1. The breakfast was plentiful, but "warm" dishes were rather cold. 2. We complained at the reception about two burned bulbs, but they were not replaced. 3. The elevator is small. With four adults and luggage it would not stop at the required floor. One person had to leave at the basement, and wait for next ride.
Review 93:1. Convenient location 2. Free parking nearby 3. Modern design 4. Sweet balcony 5. Generous breakfast 6. Polite staff 7. We had to leave at 5:00 in the morning, but reduced breakfast was served.
Review 94:Service was not good. However Atrion is more a business hotel than a tourist hotel so compared to other hotels that we lived in Athens and the west part of Crete, it did not live up to touristy standards
Review 95:Location was relatively central. Good breakfast spread, comfortable beds
Review 96:I made a mistake and did not book a non smoking room so there was a linger of a cigarette smell in the room. But after venting it a bit, the smell was gone :) Don't get me wrong, I am a smoker, I just don't like to sleep in a room where I can smell the smoke...
Review 97:Friendly and professional staff, excellent location, generous and tasty breakfast, most importantly, the room was super clean! Excellent value for money. I wold give this hotel a 5*
Review 98:The receptionnists were polite but not too friendly. A smile or two would've been nice ! It's located on a dark street : felt kinda creepy but we never had problems.
Review 99:Walking distance form the 25th of August street, market, museums, port and rented cars businesses - Breakfast is great : lots of choices, friendly staff, nice outdoor terrace. Room was very clean, comfy beds, nice little bathroom with a glass door shower.
Review 100:This hotel offered a perfect stay in Heraklion. Very clean with all the amenities in perfect order. Very close to the city centre and the old port. The staff very very friendly and helpful.
Review 101:Difficult to find, we drove by twice before we found the small sign (light letters on a light background). Beds were very hard. Staff was not friendly, or fake friendly, but that didn't bother us.
Review 102:Nice business hotel for a 1 night stay if you have an early ferry to catch. Location is in a quiet part, so no noise during the night. Breakfast was good.
Review 103:Well, Heraklion itself is clearly not the best place to base yourself if you want a typical beech holiday. But that said, its a proper city and very lively - and local without millions of tourists floating around. So a "real" city.
Review 104:Really friendly staff A nice clean hotel Good location in Heraklion Breakfast included (buffet was really ok)
Review 105:It's a bit noisy - airport close to the hotel.
Review 106:All was according our expectations. Ask the staff about the best taverns - we trusted them and it was great choice.
Review 107:The location is excellent, the staff brilliant, the room was fantastic (I took the suite - highly recommended!!!!), and the breakfast a treat. Go there for quality time during your stay in Heraklion!
Review 108:WiFi connection was good, but could not communicate with my normal email server. Single elevator very small and slow. A pool would have made this place great, but no space for it.
Review 109:Room was comfortable with a huge balcony; modern bathroom. Breakfast facility, staff, and selection were wonderful; dinner service a bit slow and limited. Close to busy (pedestrian friendly) city center. Easy bus access to most famous ancient site. Taxi service was great.
Review 110:Wifi on my phone kept logging me out and not letting me back in. Ok on my wife's phone though - and free!
Review 111:Location, staff, room, balcony with sea view, breakfast, proximity to fabulous restaurants and the Venetian Fortress/harbour.
Review 112:The mattress was a little bit hard, but every day ended up tired and slept like a baby!
Review 113:The staff is very friendly, very helpful too. The location is excellent, everything at walking distance. The breakfast is good and fresh. Eventhough we had loud neighbors the windows did their job.
Review 114:Although I stayed one night only at the Atrion Hotel I enjoyed a pleasant and very comfortable stay. The hotel enjoys a good location - just a five or ten minute walk from the main bus station and about a 15 minute walk from the port. Importantly, it just a very short walk to the town centre restaurants and bars.
Review 115:Well, nothing.
Review 116:Walking distance to everywhere I wanted to go, yet located just away from most of the noise. This hotel has a very nice feel to it. The breakfast, included in the booking price, was excellent and varied and ample. I frequently come to Crete with other people, although this time I was alone, and I will bring others here in the future.
Review 117:I'm not sure if this is a problem with other rooms, but we are non smokers and there must have been non smoking rooms around us as the smell of cigarettes filtered into our room if we left our balcony for ajar.
Review 118:Comfortable rooms with balconies. The breakfast was very filling. Air conditioning in the rooms was quiet.
Review 119:Bathroom was very small; bed was quite hard. Fruit was not very good
Review 120:Breakfast was delicious; room was a bit small but spacious enough for our needs. Central location to downtown and many restaurants
Review 121:Rooms are not luxurious as advertised. Double rooms are very small in fact. The furniture is rather old. The hotel advertises a balcony with a view - well, the view was the wall of the opposite building. Could not stop enjoying that... There is no minibar in the room - again, the hotel advertises that there is one.
Review 122:Good location. Nice breakfast.
Review 123:Our problems started right from the start. We booked long before and asked for late check-out (as we have a baby and needed a day-time sleep before the flight). Thought it was natural to inform us in case it was not possible (so we could look for other place to stay). Nobody informed us. The second misfortune is that it was constant vibration in the sleeping room (our was 603). Even a glass of champagne did not help! The elevator is not comfortable if you are with a stroller, as there is a system of "double doors" when you have to push one with your one hand, holding the stroller somehow with hand or with a leg, whatever. Next is the Internet, it's not a big problem, but still you have to connect each time you wish to serf it, not just "once connected-use it all the time. Hopefully spent just 24 hours here. Would highly not recommend.
Review 124:The staff was ok. Friendly, polite and welcoming.
Review 125:I find that people at the hotel and in Crete weren't as welcoming and friendly as in the rest of Greece, big difference with the actitud to tourist.
Review 126:very centric clean good size rooms with balcony nice restaurant round the area
Review 127:Parking was an issue. The parking was in the narrow streets by the hotel, and spaces filled quickly. There was city parking a block and a half away for 6 euros.
Review 128:The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was great! Breakfast had a lot of different options and was of good quality. The location near the square was great.
Review 129:Visitors should be aware that car parking is not an easy task in Heraklion, even though, we were able to find a free parking place most of the times.
Review 130:Location-Location-Location, placed in the middle of town, walk distance to almost all attractions, and beside the airplanes, quiet! No traffic, not city noises. The staff were very friendly, knew a lot about the city attractions, local restaurants, and even traffic shortcuts. We had a flight delay of about a day and they managed to help us with delayed check-out, even the hotel was fully booked.
Review 131:Upgraded to lovely large room with balcony facing courtyard and with side sea view. Hotel is modern, well maintained and organised, very comfortable and convenient. All good. Reception ordered a taxi for us and it came in two minutes.
