A large wellness area with an indoor swimming pool, a steam bath, a hot tub and a sauna is provided at Resort Obertraun, 1,000 feet from the shore of Lake Hallstatt. You can dine in the on-site restaurant and sunbathe on the terrace which provides lake views.
Free Wi-Fi is available in the entire complex. The well-equipped chalets all feature solid wooden furniture, a wood-burning stove and several flat-screen TVs. A modern kitchen with a dishwasher is standard in all units. All bedrooms have a bathroom and each chalet comes with at least 1 balcony and a terrace.
Every chalet provides amenities like a private sauna or a sun shower.
You can work out for free in Obertraun Resort’s gym and watch your children playing in the large garden or on the playground. Cold and hot drinks are available at the bar and a small grocery store is located in the lobby. The wellness area can be used for a surcharge.

Review 1：Only one thing I didn't like is the beds are very soft.

Review 2：Firstly this is my third time in this resort when I want to have a good holiday with a Natural views i heading to this resort, the location in fantastic every thing you want is near to you if you like the lake view it's just few minute walking, and the Mountain view is really great, the resort facilities are good, there is an indoor swimming pool, and a restaurant, I recommend this place to any one love the good views and healthy . Natural, And I booked again in same place for another holiday in April. The apartment has a large space with clean bathrooms.

Review 3：Would be hard to travel here without a car. At first we did not know where the resort is when we got to the train station, and there is no one we could ask. Would not recommended others to travel here with a big size luggage because you will find it hard to carry it around this area.

Review 4：There is bathroom in every bedroom! Comfortable to stay with well-prepared facilities. The property is clean and nice (would be more beautiful when it's snowing.) It located near Hallstatt. It took only 15 minutes drive to Hallstatt, and it is great to stay here because we would have nothing to do in Hallstatt anyway when it's dark. You can ask the staff for a taxi. They are friendly and helpful.

Review 17：We had a very bad experience at Resort Obertraun as many of its facilities were closed due to off season! For example, the swimming pool was closed everyday by 7pm as there weren't any staff to close the doors at 9pm! Also, the water in the pool was very cold - my 8 year old daughter got a cold after swimming, and we adults couldn't swim at all as the water was very cold. The main restaurant and the bar was closed completely, so we had a difficult time in getting food. It should have been mentioned in the website of booking.com if the above facilities were not availiable in the resort.

Review 19：The water in the pool was ice cold, the staff brand new with no clue on outdoor activity options in the area and the extra cleaning fee charged on top is extreme.

Review 22：The people are friendly and very helpful. The resort has good facilities, a lovely pool, well equipped gym, good restaurant and a small shop. There is also a small supermarket within walking distance. The area is absolutely beautiful and very peaceful.

Review 23：Fantastic advertised price on booking.com with a twist. At the time of our booking the price for the house for a night was just 136 eur. Two families with 4 small children - all perfect. We booked online at 19:00 and came to the place around 20:30 the same day. Reception was closed and lights out (there was no clear info as to opening hours of reception on booking.com) By a stroke of pure luck we stumbled upon the receptionist at the bar. She was helpful enough to check us in. ......all great.... Fantastic even.... Next morning we went to pay and the bill was 326 eur!!!! ??!! The receptionist told us that there were 190 eur services that were not included in the booking.com price but there is no way you can not use them so they charge them ( cleaning, garbage collection ,.....). So the perfect night in a perfect house in a great setting with kind and helpful staff suddenly turned into a cold shower! Truth be told all was written in the booking confirmation email send, but this does not justify the blunt misleading with the low advertised price!

I am a frequent user of booking.com around the world, but something like this happened to me for the first time. BE CARFUL. !!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT !!! !!! Review 30：The location is perfect, just 10 miniutes driving distance to Hallstatt. We have rent one house (have 4 bedroom and 5 bathroom) which have enough space to accomodate our family (my parents, my husband and son). Excellent view (close to mountain and sea) and Hallstatt just oppsite of the sea. Even it have children's playground, my son really love it.

Review 31：no boat rentals on winter or on rainy days. outdoor griller is only available during summer. google map leads us on the wrong way (we walked for 30mins instead of 3mins on the other side) but it is not the fault of the resort though.

Review 32：Everything. Stunning view, wifi strength is superb in all areas, staff are helpful and friendly, location is near the bus and train stop, and great value of money. The resort provided us tissues, towels, bed linings which was surprising after i read all the negative reviews from the previous guests regarding these matter.

Also, hand washing soap, shampoo, bath gel, all basic necessities are not provided.

The Wifi was free but did not work .

Review 64：The overall feeling was a lack of pride in keeping the resort looking nice for guests.The grounds around the chalets were very untidy, with weeds and long grass everywhere. The chalet was basic, with a very small kitchen, and a faint smell of cigarette smoke throughout. The outside seating was old and poor quality. Be wary of the 100 or 150 Euro cleaning charge in the small print when you book - felt like we were being cheated! The water in the indoor pool was very cold, so we only used it for a few minutes. I nearly booked here for more than 2 nights, so glad I didn't!

Review 65：The resort is perfectly situated next to the lake from where you can take a boat across to the beautiful village of Hallstatt. The lobby is warm so you can dry towels overnight.

Review 66：Hotel is trying to cheat with the price, i made reservation for a house for 115 euro per one night and when i arrived it turned out that i have to pay 109 euro more for cleaning !!! so the price on booking.com should't show the price 115 euro but 224 euro !! Review 79：-The common areas were not maintained to the standard I would expect for a resort of this type. The grass was long and unkempt and it is clear that no one takes care of this apart from basic mowing. According to the reception, they only cut the grass every 2 weeks and when they did cut it, it was in a haphazard fashion which meant our kids couldn't play on the lawn in front of the deck due to the very long grass. -All the "dog WC's" throughout the resort were very full and were not emptied the whole week we were there. It was smelly and I'm glad our chalet was not located close to one of these. -The outside of the chalets are starting to show their age and needs re-finishing. -No trashcans in the bathrooms -No insect screens on the bedroom windows- we were eaten alive by mosquitos. Screens are cheap to install and it would have made our stay so much more enjoyable.

AND, at registration, an additional 100 euros are added to the bill for "sheets, towels, and cleaning fee".

I had to pay 101 euros for cleaning and other service charges where the published rate was only 82 euros ! I WAS RUDELY TOLD TO READ THE FINE PRINT ! For 1 night, it cost me 201 FREAKING EUROS ! 3. The published address was undetectable by GPS. Also the chalet allocated was located in a 'weird place' with no sign showing the number. Later did we realize the number was facing inwards and not the road. chalet 58 !!! 4. SHEER RUDENESS AND POOR HOSPITALITY ! 5. The wifi did not work in the chalet at all!!

Review 114：Clean and well-equipped.

Review 115：Staff unfriendly and unhelpful. Hotel organized a party with a very loud music until 01.30 in the morning. When we complained the next morning, the hotel just ignore and said the hotel did not responsible for this party. The hotel and staff is so irresponsible and ignorance. So disappointed. The food at the hotel is terrible and choice is very limited.

Review 116：None. We will not come back and recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 117：The cleaning price is 100 euro, even more than the room price!!! I dont understand why dont it include in the room price, it will be more clear! The clearing service was really bad! One of the toilets without toilet paper and one of the beds had no linen. We even needed to remove the linen by ourselves when we were leaving!!! The staff was not helpful and she looked impatient when I asked few more questions.

Review 119：WiFi not able to give out IP in the room. This was for full 4 night stay. At restaurant managed to get WiFi connection at a cool 0.05 Mbit/s speedtest. Utterly useless unless for the most basic browsing.

Review 120：the charge you more for the cleaning (around 100 euros), I just don´t get why this is not included in the final price, there were some other people angry about this as well. The house was full of mosquitoes as someone from the staff left the windows open. Receptionists weren´t really helpful.

Review 123：There was a surprise for me in the pricing in that I truly did not see the single fine-print line about the booking fee, which essentially doubled the price of our stay. For our family of three, the cabin we got was really too big, but was all that was available at the time of booking. We still felt we got what we paid for - essentially a large house with full appliances! - but might have waited to stay here until we had more people to defray the costs somewhat. Read the fine print! I know, I know...

Review 124：Nice resort cabins, really set up for multiple couples or large families that want to move in and spend some time getting to know the area. The on-site convenience store was somewhat minimal, but had the necessities. There is a small grocery market a short drive away. We used our 3-bedroom cabin as a base to explore the surrounding area, taking in Halstatt and Altaussee and the Salt Mine in Altaussee. Everything was clean and worked properly in the cabin. I would definitely recommend this to families and couples splitting the cost of the larger cabins!

Review 125：Service fee of 177 EUR not included in the price marketed by booking.com did really nearly doubled the price for 2 nights stay. "Towels not included" statement in the fine-print really got us upset. Well, towels were in the bathrooms, so I think they meant "beach towels". Missing at least basic soap to wash your hands in the bathrooms.

Review 127：The rooms are very small. Either you can walk in the room or your partner can or you can open your luggage. Very tight rooms. The bedrooms don't have a queen size bed. There should be basic items in the Chalet just like you have in the mini bar of all Hotels so you don't have to run out to buy basics. Review 128：I was mislead by the 4 star rating on Booking.com. This is a very basic Chalet - would not rate it more than 2 stars.

Review 133：There were two broken lamps in one room on arrival. There were wardrobes but no hangers in some of the rooms, there was toilet paper in only 2 of 5 toilets on arrival ( we were a group of 6) and when I asked if we could have another 3 we were told we needed to buy them from the expensive shop. I was not impressed by this and the lady receptionist could see this so kindly gave us some for free but I think that is a little odd. Surely not all travellers carry these basic supplies with them and overall the resort is not cheap so I think it should not be nickel and diming people for basic supplies. The chalet could include tea towels - there is a dishwasher but you don't always have enough dishes to waste that amount of water and power. Other miscommunication on booking.com or the resort was that we were told we had to pay for towels on arrival which we did but found that there were some in our rooms. It seemed a little inconsistent, there could be more communication and local area information in general, it is not offered freely so we felt there could have been more effort on the resort side to ensure we enjoyed our stay. However we made our own fun and would return and recommend this property to anyone.

Review 134：The accommodation is basic but comfortable and spacious and great for group or family stays, at night it was quiet. The staff are friendly, The swimming pool, sauna and availability of bikes to rent were a bonus as is being able to order freshly baked bread rolls for your breakfast each day. The showers were great. We loved our 4 night stay, the location was incredible, we had a car but there is a local bus and train station near by. The resort is close to a few cafe/bars and restaurants so you can walk everywhere easily. Every corner you turn is a picture postcard. It is a short drive or cycle to Hallstatt.

Review 135：I have booked one night for special price of 93 euros and when arriving I have received a bill of ca 240 euro because cleaning was not included in my price!!! We have stayed ca 10 hrs in a chalet and I think that charging so much money extra is just abuse! Yes, it was written in a booking confirmation but as usual with very little letters somewhere below the total price!!!!

Review 142：Very nice location. The rooms were very well built and cleanliness was excellent. The breakfast was not a buffet but they gave a full tray with more than enough stuff. The TV channels were good and so was the ambience around.

The Fine Print

The final cleaning fee and towels and bed linen fee are included in the resort fee.A security deposit of EUR 300 is required upon arrival for incidental charges. This deposit is fully refundable upon check-out and subject to a damage inspection of the accommodation.
