Reviews for Maxhotel
Review 1:No option to pay for hotel in cash as I hand brought extra currency and a breakfast option Of "full English" would be wonderful
Review 2:Everything was fine for myself and girlfriend, great time and great service
Review 3:It's design wannabe hotel. It doesn't deliver much of what it sells. internet is bad, to have a better one you have to pay a lot of money, for internet...
Review 4:The bed and the shower are very nice and the location is great.
Review 5:The water from the shower was cold and we didn't know how to use the heather... It was also weird that there was no reception and a present staff
Review 6:Location is great!
Review 7:Couldn't get the TV to work, but wasn't a huge issue and we didn't really need to watch it!
Review 8:Easy check in process, great location and good value for money. Rooms very tidy and the staff that we did see were very friendly and helpful.
Review 9:Self checkin, didn't see the reservation number clearly. Also, no real breakfast option. Also, TV was not working on my room.
Review 10:Price, friendliness of concierge., Quiet room
Review 11:Like everything in Belgium is a little bit expensive, but is normal because is located in a very nice spot.
Review 12:The location was excellent - just 5 minutes away from the subway station and you can go walking to Grand Place and all the most important touristic spots in Central Brussels. They give you croissants, yogurts and fruit in the morning although is not included on the price. A nice and basic hotel. The rooms were small but with enough space for a couple. A place to come back in a trip to Brussels.
Review 13:Check-in machine failed. It took money from my credit card but did not approve my reservation. Receptionist had to do it manually. But they had to take a photocopy of my card's front page, which was very disturbing and shaking confidence. Second, Air conditioning didn't work during our stay(2 nights). It was very cold in the room. We reported that to the staff but they didn't do anything although they had told us that they would give us a portable heater if it wasn't fixed. Last night, fortunately Mr Müslüm was there, we told him the situation and he was surprised that nobody gave us a heater or at least an extra blanket. And he gave us both immediately.
Review 14:Only the location is very good and Mr. Müslüm was a nice person, who helped us with our heating problem.
Review 15:I booked it on the same day of arrival for 2 nights. They charged me one night for late booking. When I arrived , my room was not ready yet and they gave me other room and charge me 2 nights more. So I had to pay for 3 nights when I stayed at their hotel only 2 nights. When i asked them that they should charge me only for one night because they already charged me first night they told me that not their problem and I should ask the booking.com!
Review 16:No complaints. No shampoos/bodywash toiletries are included, but everything is conveniently available for purchase on the first floor in vending machines.
Review 17:Amazing for the value! Extremely convenient location. No bathtub, but the overhead rain shower head was great. They also have lockers (€2/day) you can use (I put my bags in the locker after I checked out before my flight that night).
Review 18:The gentleman at from front desk was extremely helpful (wish I got his name). Room was exactly what we expected. Clean and suited our needs perfectly. Location was great and value for money was great.
Review 19:The pillow :(. TV only worked for the first night (but didn't bother).
Review 20:Room was very clean. Appreciated the lift. Considering location, adequately quiet. Nice Location.
Review 21:Windows in the room can't be open so no chance to take a fresh air from outside.
Review 22:The hotel is located in a quiet area, close to the main attractions. The personnel is very friendly and supporting. The automatic check-in concept is very interesting.
Review 23:No central heating; there was an electric (mostly plastic) heater on the floor to be plugged in in an outlet. It worked, was effective, but could not be moved on the other side of the room--no outlet on the window side and cord too small for that. Could not fit chair or table in the room, so there was one "stool" and something like a small, light table, most of the surface at some angle. Useful for working on a laptop, but very far from comfortable. The sink was also very cute, but super small and thus water ended up on the floor.
Review 24:Good location, new interior, clean, very low price.
Review 25:It is hard to get the key card.they use the machine to give your key card, but the staff will help you anyway. You have to confirm the credit card number before the day that you check-in, if not, they will cancel the reservation. Locker to store your things after or before you check in costs 2 euros. Coffee, or even hot water from the machine is not free! It is not close to the Noord station that much.
Review 26:The room is really good; big and clean
Review 27:The bathroom was too small and the human contact with staff was almost not there. A hotel needs some interaction with its customers even to say hallo
Review 28:Cleanliness and location
Review 29:Check-in kiosk (required before the front door opens!) is an affront. Let me check-in with a real person.
Review 30:extremely basic . . . vending machines for dinner . . .
Review 31:Because of security reasons I could not travel to Brussels. I suggested to change the date of my stay but the hotel refused. No reimbursment, no change of date. Lousy!
Review 32:very nice hotel - minimal but totally comfortable and clean! you can use the locker and storage cabinets for 2 euros to store your luggage also on the day of check out, for sure cheaper than any other lockers in stations/airport. The change machine is not working properly and took away 5 euros without giving back coins, but I got my coins back couple of ours later from the staff. Very good place to stay.
Review 33:Very small room. No basic facilities like a table, for example. Very weak INTERNET connection. Back in time with 20 years...
Review 34:Location, of course. The bed. The xisting of luggage room.
Review 35:A little bit like a prison, with absolutely no personal touch. Automated check in system was confusing, did not work. I assume the concept is cool, but it takes away the human interaction.
Review 36:Clean room.
Review 37:1) Staff more friendly - But may be this is the way way of interaction and culture . 2) Could have clear directions to the hotel from Nord etc . 3) Some signe posts at the hotel on reachibg places . Things to do - Guide lines etc
Review 38:Clean place . really purpose full and having all the needs . Value for money . But always can be better :)
Review 39:Room rather cramped and with minimum necessary facilities, rather not suitable for business trip.
Review 40:Very good location, very helpful Staff, very clean and quiet.
Review 41:The internet is really slow, and amenities are not the best, but I don't consider those to be THE most important factors when choosing a hotel.
Review 42:Hotel was nice and simple. Mathew, the concierge that was helping me check-in and he explained everything to me. Also the room I stayed in had plenty of room for me to move around and that makes a difference when you spend more than 2 or 3 days in one place.
Review 43:Booked myself for a Single room, got myself a Twin bed. Just one pillow in the room and you gotta pay extra if you require anything more than what is in the room.
Review 44:The Hotel location is absolutely great, every place was either walking distance
Review 45:Only slight problem, the shower was cold on the first day.
Review 46:Good size room. Arrived early and was able to use locker for ours bag while we went out before checking in. Lounge area and vending machine available.
Review 47:Not enough pastries if you came down to the coffee room after 8am. WiFi good but code only lasted 4 hrs, then it had to be re-entered.
Review 48:Cleanliness, location and helpful and knowledgeable staff. Minimalist but comfortable, and just as it was described on website.
Review 49:Only bad thing was the begging had a self check in service and it did not work so had to wait a few minutes to get into the hotel!
Review 50:The hotel was very clean and a great location! Very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Review 51:The room was quite small, we had to bypass each other. The bathroom had a strong smell after using, i guess the ventilation is not solved.
Review 52:It is very close to Brussels Nord train station so it's easy to travel to other cities. Also the stuff is very helpful, the room is clean and the bed is comfortable. Compared to other hotels the price is cheap.
Review 53:Although the hotel is advertised as self-service when it comes to check-in&out, both terminals were out of order. This was no problem, because the receptionist took care of everything gladly.
Review 54:Very well-situated, the room was clean though nothing fancy, but it's perfect for the price. Also has a big, nice and cosy waiting area above the ground floor with a selection of vending machines. If you need to, you can leave your luggage on this floor in boxes that work with 2 EUR.
Review 55:Why try to "fix" something that's not broken? There's nothing wrong with a traditional hotel. I don't understand why the check-in process needs to be automated when there's a staff member on site 24/7 anyways?? When we arrived I didn't have the code for our reservation (it was never sent to us) so we had to call the staff on duty to find us the code and help us finish checking in. There's literally no frills in your room. The furniture that's in the room is in ridiculous places and doesn't add anything to your stay. A desk or dresser would be nice as well as a luggage rack. In order to close the door to our room from the outside you had to slam it as hard as you possibly could. You know that the cleaning staff is having the same issues everyday and yet no one has brought it up to fix that yet??
Review 56:location is perfect, close to the train station and within a short walk to the grand place. Lots of restaurants surrounding the area.
Review 57:Check-in process was not convenient. Upon arriving, room was not available still. We waited for 40 minutes until the room was ready.
Review 58:Close to city center and easy to get around.
Review 59:Only (paying coffee machine) and free (but not always available) industrial croissants in lieue of breakfast. No information documents in the room, you are supposed to register all types of information on arrival even if very tired. As a result, never managed to get the TV to function. Staff polite but not at all friendly. Booked and paid for a twin room and asked for a large bed but got a twin beds side by side but only one pillow and comforter... a bit mean, especially at more than 100€ a night. A constant humming noise in the room certainly due to the ventilation system but quite disaggreable.
Review 60:Proximity to the centre and Gare du Nord.
Review 61:There is no reception. The guests have to pay only by credit card. The supposed to be breakfast is a gimmick. Wi fi was not working and television at an extra charge.
Review 62:The room was very clean.
Review 63:Check in could be problematic if the machine does not operate well. However, there will be staff to guide you. (This hotel uses a machine that operates as a check in counter near the entrance of the hotel).
Review 64:very clean. daily housekeeping. near to tourist attractions if u prefer to walk. about 5 min walk from where the megabus stops.
Review 65:The Shower didn't very stable of it's temperature, sometimes cold sometimes very hot. And it's quite annoying that you can hear someone talking on the hallway or slammed their door.
Review 66:Location
Review 67:Looks like a chicken incubator. Lack of real reception desk. Mistakes in the invoice. Not personalized service. Too expensive for such a service.
Review 68:Modest, but well balanced design. Good location.
Review 69:suposse to be all check-in and out automatic but it fails and have to check again with an hotel operator. No cash is admitted. Leaving the luggage costs to 2 euros each cloak. To check it we close and open and the coin wasn't returned and ask an operator if we could withdraw it but they said it was written in the rules ,in my opinion this little detail was a bad offered service .
Review 70:Very small bathroom in a small room. Also, the hotel provides a very small quilt and only one pillow, even if you mention you take a "queen" bed. My husband joined over the weekend and since it was quite cold outside, we asked for a second quilt. We had to pay €4 for it and that was unpleasant, because we paid a lot for the hotel.
Review 71:I got a room at the 8th floor, with a very nice view over the Adolph Max Boulevard. There is a heating machine in the bathroom, which was very useful in chilly October nights. The self check-in procedure was not at all complicated, although my passport was not scanned from the first time. Anyway, there is always a person right next to the check-in machines, to guide you, if needed. There were free croissants for breakfast.
Review 72:Pay only by card, no cash.
Review 73:Very good location between Nord station and City center, small but modern room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, lounge area with free croissants in the morning.
Review 74:Same standards as Formule1 (automatic reception) but price almost twice higher. Super tiny room, shower within the room, can't open the window, roughly same concept as a Formule1 as said above. I was cold during a entire week because the ventilation was automatic in my room, and the answer was: you have to deal with it. Asked for a room change, nobody ever came back to me.
Review 75:The check-in process was a bit impersonal, having to do everything on the computer and needing to scan your passport, although the process was quite quick and easy.
Review 76:The location was fairly good, being a short walk to the main tourist areas of Brussels. Free internet access on the first floor was useful as were the luggage lockers which were only €2 to use.
Review 77:A very comfortable double bed and decent-sized room, in a business-style hotel, close to the centre of the city. When they were there (the hotel operates self-service check-in), the staff on reception were very helpful.
Review 78:First of all the problem starts with the name. This is a "hotel" only in name. A better description would be a hostel for adults. The place has almost no amenities that you expect from a hotel. There is no reception but one person who "mans" the place fro perhaps a day or longer. One last-but major-complaint. I feel I have been misled by Booking.com as to what to expect from this place. Importantly' I feel that I overpaid for a 3 day stay by at least 100%. This is based on what they advertise in the reception.
Review 79:The only nice thing I can say about this place is thatit has a central location.
Review 80:It was chaotic at check in. There is no reception and you have to input your details into a machine at the entrance. After spending 5 minutes doing this I was told that there was an error at which point a man appeared from a little office and he spent another 10 minutes trying to organise my room card. It wasn't ideal.
Review 81:Room was comfortable and clean. Location was good.
Review 82:The room was very clean! The location is perfect, walking distance from almost every sightseeing in the center. Very good wi-fi connection. Helpful staff.
Review 83:check-out time is 11.00 but you can not check in before 15.00 and if you want to check in earlier, you have to pay 35 euros extra.
Review 84:automatic working hotel. clean, comfortable. good value good location. close to both city center and north station.
Review 85:None
Review 86:Great location just minutes away from Rogier Metro and a few blocks from Gare du Nord. Spacious and clean room and awesome lounge area on the 1st floor. Value for money!
Review 87:There is no staff or reception and no info about WiFi (until I attempted to log in). Shower head was bizarrely fixed 2ft from floor which meant I had to wash my hair one-handed. TV didn't work.
Review 88:The bed was very comfortable. Easy to find.
Review 89:There was only one bin in the room and as the toilet and sink were separate in the room you had to leave the toilet to dispose of sanitary waste and wash your hands. There was a light switch set in to the head board so if you sat up in bed ready you could inadvertently switch the light off this was annoying.
Review 90:While the room was small it was well decorated. The white walls and minimalist furnishing had a fresh, Scandinavian feel. Really liked the self check-in facility. The staff were lovely. When I checked out the person I dealt with recommended I stay inside until the taxi arrived for my personal safety.
Review 91:For the price we paid & the fact Budget hotels come with a few restrictions, we didn't find anything amiss..
Review 92:All the staff at the hotel were friendly.. The check-in/ check-out process is completely hazzle free.. The place is very central & walking distance to almost all the major attractions.. The Metro is a 5 min walk from where we could get to almost anywhere in Brussels..
Review 93:Only 4 hours on the free WiFi. It's a pointless restriction which just makes me recommend trying to find a better hotel. :(
Review 94:The check in is via an automated kiosk, which is fine. However, there were some technical problems. Luckily the staff was able to sort out the issues for me and get me to my room... it just took an extra 15 or 20 minutes.
Review 95:The self-check-in system doesn't work most of the time so you may have to wait until the one member of staff can help you, the wifi is rather dodgy and doesn't work in the room.
Review 96:The room is bigger than expected, it's immaculate and clean, the location is fantastic and the staff are really nice.
Review 97:Apart from Croissants all other drinks and food are from vending machines
Review 98:Close to Rogier & North Station Would use it for pleasure trips rather than bussiness trips
Review 99:There were two single blankets, for a double room I would expect a double blanket check in processe is Tiresome
Review 100:We booked a double room, it was quiet and comfortable in an excellent location The room was very clean and tidy every day ..
Review 101:When we arrived the machines for check in were broken, the staff was rude and explained us that we have to wait, we spent at least 30 minutes waiting for check in the small corridor outside main area without any excuses from the staff. I would never recommend to stay their as for the price you can find a lot of better places than this not cozy and dirty rooms with rude staff and small luggage lockers that you have to pay for.
Review 102:Nothing!!!
Review 103:Free Wifi only works in the lounge, not in the rooms, and has a total time limit of 4 hours
Review 104:Perfect location close to the main shopping street and a metro station, rooms are clean, good value for that little amount of money
Review 105:At 7am, the free croissants in the Level 1 common area were cold :(
Review 106:The hotel is close to Rogiers and De Brouckere metro stations. There are many restaurants and convenience stores in the area.
Review 107:Very lengthy check in process, only one check in point was working, there was a strange smell inside the hotel and I guess it came from the chemicals they used to clean. also there was an issue with the air conditioning and it would work only as a fan, without decreasing the temperature. Rooms don't have a window to open, all windows are locked.
Review 108:Good location, close to the city center
Review 109:MaxHotel is one of those fully automated types of hotels where you have a self check-in,everything is offered through vending machines etc which is fine until you have a problem or a special request. For example,I needed to get my e-ticket printed. In most hotels, they would have got it done for you. Here you're on your own. Also WiFi was restricted to a few hours everyday. Many sex shops in the area so avoid if you are a family.
Review 110:Value for money. Fairly well located. About 5 minutes walk to a metro station (Rogier). The Grand Place is about a 15-minute walk away. Clean, comfortable bed. Very quiet.
Review 111:even tv is not working if you do not pay extra. there were no shampoo. No luggage room, just paid locker and also not enough number.
Review 112:location was ok. room was big enough and clean.
Review 113:House keeping staff so noisy, they don't care if you are sleeping or not. If the door is locked from inside, they don't care they may open to make up your room.
Review 114:Modern, easy.
Review 115:Sorry, what's the question? :)
Review 116:I absolutely love the fact that hotel is so close to the city centre, shops area, metro station (2min) and 5min walk to Nord Station (bus/train). Also the staff was really nice! Especially Mr Samuel- what a lovely person! Happy, smiley, kind, helpful and just so positive! My room was small but cosy, I had my little WC, shower, super white and clean towels ect. Would recommend it! :)
Review 117:The lack of human help was strange..check in was by a machine and to get snacks or anything for that matter, was from the vending machines. This is good for people who dislike human interaction but this isn't for me. The shower holder was broken. The White fixture covering the TV box was held on by chewing gum and despite requesting a double bed, it was two twins put together with single duvets.
Review 118:I think the one thing I liked was the view from our 3rd floor room. The one member of staff we came across on the last day as we checked out was lovely. She was very helpful with directing us to the metro to get to the train station.
Review 119:Nice location and cost benefit, next to metro and train stations and a few minutes by walking from the main touristic points. Room and bathroom very clean.
Review 120:-After waking up there was no power (windows can not be opened so it got hot) until check out and staff didn't seem to care much
Review 121:-Clean, spacious and modern room -Close to shopping area and center of the city -Big windows (can not be opened) with blackout curtains -Really comfortable bed
Review 122:No bad experience but the wifi only lasted for about 4hrs and you have to re-register with a new email address everytime it expired. The wifi can last longer if you log off after every use
Review 123:The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The self check-in was easy to use. The location was in the city center and close to a metro station. Because the lobby is generally unmanned, the doors are locked around 11pm for security which is good. You just need to press the bell outside and a staff will let you in
Review 124:The free wifi is rubbish and you can't use it for anything other than texting. some of the staff members were rude, one of them shouted "shut up" to a customer because he couldn't do the "automatic check in". Rooms are not sound proof and I could here other people talking or taking a bath ! The hotel is surrounded by sex shops so I wouldn't go there with a child.
Review 125:The area is close to a number of shopping malls, galeries, shops and amenities. Some of the staff members were nice. The room is cery clean, and well maintained.
Review 126:Nice location, very clean room and bathroom and interesting selfservice system for check in and check out, but with staff 24hs to help the guests in anycase.
Review 127:Automated is nice but any bug is painful: the checkin software is so bad.
Review 128:Ironing facilities. Free pastries in the kitchen for breakfast. Quiet. Good bed.
Review 129:Cheap, easy access to central Brussels, very clean and hassle free check in/out. Rooms are basic but bright clean and not too small. There is a Q Park very near to the hotel if you need parking.
Review 130:The room was weird - made me feel really off. There was no door to the bathroom and it was desinged to be fancy but not practical (it was not possible to open the glass shower door without smashing it into the wash basin; there was 2 shower heads - one on a hose and one on the celling - you couldn't use the second comfortably because when you put the first down it would poke you in the back - it was located just under the other; the towel hangers were located on the wrong side of the shower door - you had to open the door smashing it into the washbasin, walk out, close the door and then you'd have access to your towel). There was no wardrobe - only a hanger on a wall and a tiny shelf. In what appeared to bw a wardrobe I found a toilet - again - weird. Also the corridors of the hotel were weird - it was like a concrete/plastic box for ants. Also there was no receptionist but some kind of an ATM you had to "talk to". There were really friendly doormen, but still it was just soooo "modern and advanced" but completely unhuman. I just didn't feel well in those environment. I would not like to go there again. I find it very expensive compared to the standard.
Review 131:Freshly renovated, clean. Fancy, modern interior (which in the end was a disadvantage).
Review 132:The air conditioning was broken and wasn't fixed during my stay. The staff offered to open my window (normally locked) which I accepted, but the room was still very hot and, due to open window, incredibly noisy all night. Wifi was unreliable. Staff in checkout unfriendly and disinterested. I would have thought the air con was an isolated incident, but I stayed with friends earlier this summer and the air con broke down then as well (but was fixed that day at least!). In the hottest part of summer it made things very uncomfortable.
Review 133:Staff on first day were friendly and helpful. Good location to walk into main attractions. Clean.
Review 134:Staff were a little miserable although I could have caught them at bad times. But I would definitely stay here again.
Review 135:Location was really good, pretty central Could keep your bags in a locker for €2, even if you weren't checked in. Also a toilet to use for free.
Review 136:Electricity cut out for hours. No manned reception. Cleaners came in very early and unannounced while door was locked. Only staff available were horrid.
Review 137:Bed size - super king. Rainfall shower.
Review 138:They don't accept cash to pay the room! If you have problem with your credit card they could found a solution... but I don't understand WHY they can't accept cash!
Review 139:The staff is very kind, helpful and gentle. The hotel is located in a beautiful position, 10 minutes walk from Grand Place and the city center.
The Fine Print
Please note that payment is due upon arrival. The hotel does not accept cash payments.
