Reviews for The Blarney Hotel & Golf Resort
Review 1:I have nothing bad to say
Review 2:We were upgraded in our room, it was fabulous very spacious, the cleanliness was exceptional. The bed was so comfortable. It was a fabulous stay. We had breakfast it was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 3:Hotel is located very far away from local facilities. Disappointed there was no hairdresser in the hotel.
Review 4:Staff very friendly and helpful. All facilities in the hotel were spotless, rooms, dining room, bar etc.
Review 5:Lack of plug sockets.
Review 6:Room was spacious and bright. Bed very comfortable. Heating could be controlled. Lovely decor. Lovely balcony area with seating. Very quiet. Couldn't hear anything from neighbouring rooms or hallways. Would definitely stay there again :-))
Review 7:Nothing for kids to do if I had known kids club was closed I'd have stayed somewhere else,no lifeguard on duty should be
Review 8:Staff on reception very polite
Review 9:Breakfast was chaotic and poorly organised Bar was too small for the volume of guests and we were forced to eat in the restruarat twice. Poor service but food was good
Review 10:The Lodges were very large and comfortable
Review 11:Some small details like early morning showers not being hot enough..little details like basin taps not being fastened down..some exposed wall plugs in the bathroom..unlit balconies
Review 12:Like the surrounding and feeling of being really private in the country surroundings..rooms with a desk and working space really valuable to me
Review 13:Some of the fixtures were a bit warn and in need up replacement. Side of bathtub had obvious damp rot. If you go to swimming pool you have to pay two euro fifty cent for a swimming cap that must to worn.
Review 14:Good size rooms and excellent breakfast. Location is good if you are visiting Blarney castle.
Review 15:The food was horrible a dog would not eat it and the steam room and sauna when I told the manger I didn't like the breakfast and could I be refunded for tomorrows because we wouldn't be eating it he told me no because I made the booking with Ye I'm not impressed at all
Review 16:Treatments from the beauty rooms
Review 17:I didn't like the price for both B&B , although I did have an option for room only. However it was priced about €10 over.
Review 18:The staff were particularly friendly and accommodating.
Review 19:The hotel needs a serious amount of maintenance doing to it. We were moved 3 times before we were satisfied. Faulty TV's & toilets were just some of the problems. First bedroom we got Mattress and base of bed were so soft you would be better off on floor.
Review 20:Staff and manager were extremely helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Food was beautiful and Hotel/Room was very clean & warm.
Review 21:Piug in heater @ knee level in the bedroom. Very dangerous for my 2 year old as he could reach it.. Baby pool but no shallow end in the pool for my son & I.. Thought the staff in the swimming area, could up skill their customer service..
Review 22:The staff @ reception were fab.. If I've the correct name leneka! Same in the bar..
Review 23:Overall the hotel could do with a little freshening up. Restaurant works on weekend only and choice in pub was limited (the food was nice and staff very accommodating).
Review 24:The room was very spacious and functional. There were a little sofa with coffee table and a big desk with office chair. Tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were quite friendly and attentive. Lovely cosmetics in the bathroom and plenty of fresh fresh towels. Housekeeping staff were also fantastic. The spa area was clean and has all the necessities. Great internet connection.
Review 25:Carpark was a bit small for guests and leisure centre users.the back of the facility needs work on the roads and a play area other than go carts would be very welcome
Review 26:Chalets were fantastic and a home away from home. Pool was lovely and kids really enjoyed the stay.so if they're happy everyones happy
Review 27:The bathroom was lovely but would have preferred a walk in shower..the floor got very slippery when wet.
Review 28:The room was just beautiful, very spacious and comfortable.staff very pleasant. The breakfast was amazing, So much choice they really cater for everyone's needs. Leisure center is lovely and very well kept.Really enjoyed our stay. Will be back again.Have recommended it to friends.
Review 29:Only bad thing is I would have preferred balcony the the back of the hotel not facing the car park
Review 30:I enjoyed the locarion and the rooms were fabulous. Very comfortable and clean
Review 31:We had a little out door place for coffee in air, but was very open be nice to have a bit more privacy, plus view of a wall was disappointing.
Review 32:Location, the moment we walked in the staff on desk had smile and very friendly
Review 33:Our room wasn't prepared or cleaned upon check-in but we received a complementary room upgrade as an apology which was nice.
Review 34:Friendly staff, tasty food in hotel bar, comfortable bed.
Review 35:We had our 4 month old baby with us so we just wanted an easy going hotel stay!! and this hotel was exactly it Staff couldn't be nicer! Especially Bar staff and pool staff. Very Relaxing
Review 36:Nothing!
Review 37:Roma's and staff were absolutely excellent especially the bar man working Saturday night.. Only got his second name and it was Foley. He was brilliant!
Review 38:Scrambled eggs were rubbery! The chef will rustle up some freshly poached eggs if you ask.
Review 39:Beautiful location and easy to get to from Cork. We were travelling from Kinsale via Cork and easy to find Blarney. We were interested in visiting Blarney Castle and the Hotel is located just a few minutes drive away in a village called Tower. Grounds set in countryside. The rooms were very large and spacious, including the bathroom. The bed was King size at least and very comfortable. The room included an office area with sofa and was arranged on a raised area next door to the veranda or patio area. We were able to use the patio area even in October since the weather was unusually hot, a real bonus! The staff were very friendly, meals were delicious. Reasonable prices for breakfast and dinner. Gluten free friendly place. The spa and pool were brilliant. Very quiet at this time of year which we didn't mind and was to be expected. Nothing as too much trouble, customer service paramount but of course this is Ireland!!
Review 40:Rooms were in need of through cleaning and repair. Black mould on bottom of curtains and around windows. Wooden tops in bathroom need replacing and mattresses need replacing.
Review 41:Good location, good breakfast, nice leisure centre, huge rooms and good sized bathrooms.
Review 42:The place is very nice clean the spa is very nice too good wifi They have the best looking staff I ever see the girls from the reception are like models..:))
Review 43:No issues.
Review 44:Friendly professional staff. Room was spacious / comfortable. Great standard of accommodation for price paid. Enjoyed the dinner, breakfast was self service and fine for buffet food. Enjoyed the swimming pool and leisure facilities.
Review 45:I feel that the lodges could do with a fresh coat of paint all over the interior as there were marks and stains on the walls that looked like they had been there for some time. The utensils in the kitchen were also lacking, and several lights were either missing bulbs or simply didn't work. I think that senior management either need to take a look at carrying out some quality checks on each unit including all electrical fittings before the lodges are released to paying guests to ensure they are up to spec.
Review 46:On site golf course which was kept in good order.
Review 47:We were told the place had been in Administration for over four years and this shows. A lot of things are looking tired, from the outside needing painting to furniture being worn and the pool and spa areas needing an upgrade. The size of the ensuites in the lodges is ridiculously small compared to the size of the bedroom, you have to dry yourself in the room. Bad design.
Review 48:The staff were friendly and helpful, good coffee to take away in the mornings Clean rooms, and overall public areas. The place was probably amazing when it opened but owners run out of money. Spacious layout of lodges and ease of access. They have spent money upgrading the wifi, and we were informed they were renovating some of the king sized hotel suites.
Review 49:The room was so spacious and the restaurant was really lovely. The food was great & the staff in the restaurant were very attentive & pleasant. The clubhouse was also nice for lunch.
Review 50:Unfortunately we used Blarney Hotel and Golf at end of season and it had taken a bit of a hammering in season carpets badly stained furniture needing replacing if I had of used this location at start of season it would have received 10/10
Review 51:Facilities and Location
Review 52:Whole apartment was tired, stained carpets, peeling veneer on furniture, etc kitchen not so clean and all cups, plates etc were chipped.
Review 53:The apartment was a good size. Good wifi.
Review 54:Restaurant was closed while I was there. The carpets were filthy anddefinitely weren't kept. Breakfast was terrible and understaffed.Overall Poor management or about to retire and doesn't care.Disappointing.
Review 55:My partner went for a massage and loved it. A Hungarian girl. Absolutelyincredible. The bar was ok.
Review 56:very spacious clean modern accommodation...was here for a wedding ...two ensuite spacious bedrooms with lock for each bedroom...suitable for two couples sharing....full kitchen......a distance from the city so car necessary but near to blarney ....a golf resort and leisure facilities on site ...ideal for a break....did not rate breakfast because we were self catering....highly recommend it
Review 57:Room202-shower screen did not contain water in shower and leaked all over bathroom
Review 58:Location Value Comfortable room Good Breakfast Friendly staff Nice meal in bar
Review 59:Poor pressure from shower , no plug in sink , stains on carpet in sitting room , needs a bit of updating
Review 60:Golf lodge big and spacious ,two big bed rooms , large kitchen
Review 61:Restaurant and bar had very limited menus. Rang room service number provided and they hung up. Had to call bar to order.
Review 62:Leisure center was great. Pool was spotless and was good to be provided with towels. Receptionists were very friendly and helpful.
Review 63:Roomservice food awful, dirty balcony no views (seeing as though golf resort)
Review 64:Bed comfortable, room ok, outside balcony dirty, ordered club sandwich, wasn't very good (plastic cheese, frozen chips) breakfast in the morning was lovely, a male staff member very helpful..
Review 65:Water pressure in showers minimal, bathrooms too small, showers too small, value for money, maintenance man helpful, voice of washing machine OR dishwasher strange.
Review 66:Location, scenery, golf facilities average
Review 67:Simple things could be added to the cooking utensils eg a colinder cooking utilitys consisted of two sause pans and two pots very easy fix
Review 68:The play ground and gokarts to keep children amused and although we didn't use it there was a kids club they should advertise these
Review 69:A bit difficult to find.
Review 70:Beautiful and clean accommodation. Friendly, helpful staff. Swimming pool Go karts for kids Good for visiting Blarney Castle
Review 71:We booked a lodge, on entering the floor was not clean and the coffee table was filthy. The dishwasher was full we had to empty it. However the bathroom was clean and both bedrooms. Breakfast was awful. The evening meal was fine until my husband found a large hair in it. I paid for the meal and they made a small reduction. My husband left and I asked the staff for the children's desert (ice cream) as they had not received it. 45 mins later I had to ask them again. Not happy and and will certainly not be staying there anytime soon.
Review 72:Leisure facilities.
Review 73:Disappointed that we received a phone call two hours before we checked in saying the hotel was double booked and we couldn't have the lodge we had booked. We had to share a family room. A bit awkward with mother in law and son in law in the one room! As it was only for one night we accepted,
Review 74:Friendly staff, good food and nice swimming pool.
Review 75:Our only problem was breakfast Sunday there was not many people down for breakfast but had loads of staff food was only warm.. Monday was packed an only 3-4 members staff and food was cold
Review 76:Our over all stay was lovely. Room was gorgeous.. Lovely location.. quite and peaceful
Review 77:Costing €258 for two nights excluding breakfast I would of expected the lodge to be cleaner, walls were filthy with paint coming off, toaster was not working and lamp in sitting room was also not working.
Review 78:Swimming pool
Review 79:Very little dislikes; lodge needed a little bit of redecorating in places, but nothing major. You will definitely need a car as the resort is in a rural location
Review 80:Self-catering lodge was very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. We had the breakfast in the hotel, which was very good. We felt very relaxed and will definitely stay again
Review 81:Was a little out of the way in order to get there. It really made you think if you wanted to get out of the hotel in order to eat because you would have to drive so far to find anything.
Review 82:We liked that we could spend the day there with a full sized pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There was also a very well equipped bar and restaurant so we didn't have to go out.
Review 83:Nothing
Review 84:Excellent hotel and very friendly staff; will definitely be staying there again and hopefully playing golf next time too: the course on site looks brilliant
Review 85:-Food was acceptable but not exciting and the restaurant menu was a struggle for our teenagers -Beds were not the most comfortable -Golf course is not as good as other (similarly priced) courses in rural Ireland we played on our trip -Bar had a poor selection of beers; it had just the big name breweries and not the selection of craft beers you would find in city bars
Review 86:-Stayed in a lodge in the hotel grounds which was quiet, well equipped and convenient to the leisure centre and hotel facilities -Reception staff were very pleasant -Pool was nice
Review 87:Public areas poorly kept , bar could go with thorough makeover, our rom had a balcony which was unusable due to it be in poor condition. Bad time of year to not have this work completed.
Review 88:Bar staff were efficient , house keeping staff thorough
Review 89:Tried to bump us to a family room by ringing us shortly before wearrived due to "overbooking". Pretty annoyed as we weretravelling with a baby and we specifically booked a lodge for thekitchen facilities. I said we were heading home if we weren'tgetting a lodge, and we eventually got one. I really would haveappreciated a call before we left for Cork
Review 90:Breakfast was lovely
Review 91:we thought the hotel lacked a bit of bustle- music in the bar would drive you out of the bar in the evening. the kids club was only toddlers and not on too long. so my son was disappointed as we had a kids club in Kilkenny hotel and was on till 10pm. it was a nice hotel but just those few things made it a little boring in the evening.
Review 92:swimming pool was good
Review 93:We ate in the bar one the first evening and the food was poor. We didn't have breakfast included in our package so can't comment on it.
Review 94:The pool was excellent. The kids really enjoyed it. It was clean and we'll maintained.
Review 95:The breakfast was only okay .the buffet full Irish was Luke warm ,they were very busy so a lot of the food needed to be replaced .there was no tea or coffee for a while cause that had to be replaced as well .
Review 96:The staff were really friendly. The rooms were very comfortable.
Review 97:Everything was tired and shabby, heavy staining on chairs, very off putting. This place could be so much better if refurbished.
Review 98:Size of bedroom and bathroom.
Review 99:very warm hotel in july. air conditioning hit and miss. bar food very slow with minimum staff.
Review 100:nice quiet location. spacious hotel, nice pool and spa. good breakfast. friendly staff
Review 101:The hotel bar is lacking some atmosphere, some evening entertainment or family entertainment would make a huge difference to this hotel. The kids go karts were broken. The mattress on my bed was very uncomfortable.
Review 102:We had a lovely relaxing time here. Our self catering lodge was clean and very spacious. The grounds were kept well. During our 4 day stay we had pleanty to do. We visited fota wildlife, Blarney Castle, the English Markets and there is much more to do that's not too far away. Each morning we had a lovely swim in the hotel pool which was warm and clean. Only ate once in the hotel and it was average but not expensive.
Review 103:The cleaners let the place down, we found a sock from previous guests beside our bed. They didn't restock every day. Also please replace broken go carts.
Review 104:The beds were so comfy. The lodges were great.
Review 105:Air condition wasn't working and being ground floor would not be comfortable having window open even if we wanted but we could not latch to extend window open broken
Review 106:Easy to get to. Food Lovely breakfast good. Could do with a little lift. Child friendly.
Review 107:The place appeared quite run-down, with little repair jobs not carried out; making the place look tired. The breakfast was lovely, despite it being a buffet being kept warm over hot plates. Everything was hot and there was a superb selection. The dining room carpet looked as it if hadn't been hoovered in days and the restaurant appeared short staffed.Despite working their socks off, they struggled to keep up with clearing the tables and refilling things as they became empty. Overall staff gave you things if you asked for them, but they didn't appear to be pro-active in their general approach. Neither of the TVs worked in our bedrooms, but thankfully the TV in the lounge worked OK. The carpet on the stairs was worn out, as was the sofa. The bar would benefit from being more of a 'pub'. There is so much more that could be done with the place to make it attractive again.
Review 108:The staff were very helpful and welcoming. They were quick to accommodate the addition of our dog and amended our booking without delay and with no extra cost. The lodge was spacious, the beds comfortable, the towels and linen clean and the kitchen fitted out with everything that you would need for a short stay. The hotel staff brought us over an additional bed for our son and brought us milk late at night, without fuss. Our son loved the go-karts and played out for hours on them. The local taxi service was great, charging a fair price for a trip into town.
Review 109:Reception staff could not do enough for us including changing us to a room with disabled facilities. Bar food is beautifully served. Loved the place, the best hotel we stayed in on our recent trip to Ireland.
Review 110:Needed instructions to get hot water. There was a button on the side of the towel warmer to get hot water in the sink or shower. The king bed was two twins pushed together so it sunk in the middle.
Review 111:Nice facilities and clean rooms. Full breakfast, and nice bar.
Review 112:Food in the bar on the Saturday night was horrible, I was utterly disappointed. Im not one to complain at all but this food was unacceptable. I had a green thai curry, the chicken was hard and dry yet 'watery' and cold with a 'jelly outer texture' it was obviously cheap processed chicken, disgusting, the naan bread was also burnt.
Review 113:The hotel let us book in early, room very spacious and clean. We made use of the spa facilities and indian head massage was amazing
Review 114:Food poor in the restaurant (starter and dessert) and service not up to standard expected
Review 115:Excellent facilities from pool to restaurant. Very clean and modern.
Review 116:only bad thing I could say was that we didn't have any extra pillows 1 each, looking around the house late at night.
Review 117:dinner was a great deal 20euro and so handy that it was delivered to the house plus you can bring your dog with you will definitely make us come back and stay for longer next time
Review 118:Back door in lodge didnt have a turning knob. Matresses were extremely worn and uncomfortable. Top floor was making squeaking noises when walking.
Review 119:Go karts were great entertainment for the whole family. Kids club saved our lifes. Friendly helpful staff. Cotton Ball Brewery craft beer available in bar. good facilities although we didnt have the time to take advantage of most of them. great location.
Review 120:Very run down. The main door wouldn't close. The floors squeaked horribly. Beds were uncomfortable. Wasn't clean at all. Smelled funny. Not impressed and would not stay again!
Review 121:As above plus stand in resturant says wait here to be seated but nobody there to great you, watched several couples come in and stand there waiting. Askedfor 2 poached eggs on toast, arrived toasted slightly on one side and on a side plate ! Somebody needs to be in charge of resturant as sloppy service, so send someone from head office and get them to try it out !!!
Review 122:Everything apart from poor breakfast, dirty cold plates, young male member of staff walking round resturant with shirt tucked in his red pants and his trousers pulled down slightly revealing an unsexy band of red - yuk
Review 123:None
Review 124:Despite many children at the hotel, quietness was all around. We had in the previous week done about 1000 miles of hill and mountain driving and 3 days here was our reward to chill out after our trials and tribulations. It worked!
Review 125:The restaurant. The food was substandard and the price was far too high for what it is. Happy to pay €18.95 for a main meal of it is high quality but this wasn't. Furthermore the restaurant had one song playing on a constant loop. We asked the to change it as it was driving us crazy. We then had to sit listening to Christmas music in June! This Christmas music was then on the next 2 mornings at breakfast as well.
Review 126:Our room was ready early sl we could check in at 11. Great room and the spa is fab.
Review 127:On arrival at the lodge it was like a housing estate, kids in school uniform bashing bins with broken golf clubs & a rowdy go kart track. Knife rack empty, carpet stained with red paint, dishwasher full certainly not 5star. To use pool facilities you need a hat at a cost of €2 per person so we didn't. We did get moved & was an improvement but thoroughly disappointing especially when they tried charging for the breakfast we had cancelled prior to our stay. Communication dreadful
Review 128:The hotel reception area was very appealing
Review 129:The quality of the food delivered to the room was poor. The shortage of staff meant they were rushed off their feet resulting in dirty tables; no meet & greet despite sign saying "wait to be seated". Delay in being asked whether we wanted tea or coffee.
Review 130:The size of the bath and bed.
Review 131:Myself and my cousin had nt seen each other in over 20 years and the staff there gave us a brilliant upgrade from a twin room and gave us a two bedroomed apartment as to have privacy for a good catch up which was fantastic
Review 132:NOTHING
Review 133:We were greeted by a most pleasant receptionist who assured we received a wonderful room. Dinner in the pub restaurant was delicious and our stay was delightful. Only wish we could have stayed longer to sample the amenities.
Review 134:Nothing.
Review 135:I liked that the indoor pool area is warmly heated, safe, clean and that the showers are well equipped with hairdryers, etc. The apartment we had is excellent, private, the location is relaxing, very near to supermmarkets (5 minutes' drive). Thank you very much for a lovely time at the excellent facilities, we are already considering visiting again :)
Review 136:It was no big deal. Bit found it a bit troublesome initially to get the heating going
Review 137:Very friendly staff, offering an excellent service, very clean room, and facilities were great. Over all I could not fault this hotel and would have no problem recommending it.
Review 138:the rooms are very basic and need updating , they have tried in bathrooms but have succeeded. The bar area is more for eating and tables are so close you can hear everyones conversations . food was basic and over all not what I would have expected
Review 139:Think they could look at policy for charging full price for breakfast for children when then generally only eat cereal and toast.
Review 140:Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Very good pool and gym facilities.
Review 141:when we arrived to our room it was a disaster the bed was completly for the dump springs poking up and a big tear on the side of it. complained and gave us another room. bed perfect. stars 2 to 3.had to eat in the bar as nothing else was open.
Review 142:the pool and dressing rooms were good.treated myself to the spa. it was great.
