Reviews for Cala Luna

Review 1:The hotel is right on the beach overlooking the sea with a lovely spot outside to eat or drink. Staff made an excellent recommendation for a hike, and were gracious and helpful. There is a stunning roof terrace for sunbathing we used even though it was November. Best spot in the town.

Review 2:Booked a backing oceanview, but the Bougainville blocked the entire view... Had I known, I would have just booked a regular room as we didn't sit on the balcony once...

Review 3:Modern, clean, fantastic shower, great tapas bar in the evening included with your drink... Cocktails were yummy and view was stunning, really a great way to end the day...

Review 4:Paper-thin walls, draught through corridor meant noisy winds throughout the night. Bins/buckets outside of our room weren't secured so wind kept throwing them about so couldn't sleep. No private parking.

Review 5:Was close to everything. Free buffet breakfast

Review 6:This hotel is wonderful. Amazing location right on the promenade with many great restaurants all around. Beautiful views of the sea and harbor. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast has everything you need and the bar has everything you need as well. We will be back. Also... Do your best to catch a sunrise.

Review 7:The pillows are very hard, the matress as well. It is not described clearly that the beach is composed of little rocks rather than a sandy beach, which was misleading from the photos.

Review 8:Staff is really helpfull and friendly, the food is really good too.

Review 9:Can't think of anything they did wrong - but as with most places in Sardinia, it is a bit expensive compared to what you can get elsewhere in Europe.

Review 10:The staff were so helpful and friendly. I think the lady we spoke most with was Giavana - incredibly helpful and warm. Fantastic location perfectly positioned within the town, great views, easy to find restaurants, parking and a local supermarket. The boat trips to the caves and beaches you can't reach by car were were fantastic - well worth doing and well organised. Lovely town with plenty to do for a day or two but you could stay longer if you area happy to sit on a beach without many activities (sports, or museums).

Review 11:There is no free parking available at the hotel but we were fore warned of this & managed to find free parking several streets away.

Review 12:The location of the hotel was excellent & a mere stones throw from the beach & other facilities. We had a very comfortable stay. Cleanliness of the the rooms was exemplary & the staff were very attentive. Breakfast was varied & plentiful with lots of locally produced honey, jams, cakes & home made yogurts. The solarium had beautiful views of the bay & was a lovely place to enjoy a pre or post dinner cocktail or just to sit & relax. The gym was well equipped & a bonus (when it wasn't too hot) to use !

Review 13:The breakfast I found was not equal to the quality of the hotel.

Review 14:The location, the staff, the cleaniness were excellent. Very satisfied with my stay, will be back again

Review 15:-the shower handles need to be replaced; very difficult to use

Review 16:-eco friendly -best location close to port and beaches; easy to find -friendly, courteous, helpful staff -amazing onsite restaurant -great breakfast -clean comfortable room and bathroom -we have stayed at this hotel 4 times and will be back!

Review 17:Our family room had no view whatsoever. Our room felt small and pokey - We didn't want to spend any time in there apart from going to sleep. Spend the extra money to get a sea view or stay elsewhere but stop by here for their yummy breakfast. The wifi needs to be updated - a bit old school being given a paper code - and it kept cutting out.

Review 18:Great breakfast buffet with homemade yoghurt, fresh fruit, toast, jams, cheeses, cereals and one hot drink per person. The views from the top floor are lovely. Friendly lady at reception and the waitresses that served us were also helpful. Short walk to the central beach. Lovely being right on the waterfront road.

Review 19:Staff is very kind and welcoming, very informative and helpful, with suggestions, offers etc. Breakfast is fresh with a wide selection of food. Amazing location. Restaurant was fabulous.

Review 20:The lock in the ladies loo was broken. Service at breakfast a bit slow.

Review 21:Brilliant location on the seafront. Lovely sky bar with beautiful views. Lady at the front desk was great.

Review 22:Family room small and dark. Felt a little grungy. The sea view terrace is so hemmed in by the bougainvillea you can really see out or use it comfortably.

Review 23:The roof top terrace is great and the service was generally very good.

Review 24:The bed was a little uncomfortable, can't quite put my finger on why but still slept ok. PS. Don't let this put you off, just a minor niggle in an otherwise good experience.

Review 25:Reasonable prices lots of free aperitivo

Review 26:No pool - waisted space upstairs around a gym and yoga area but could do so much with it! Open it up and get a pool or jacuzzi at least.

Review 27:Fantastic cocktails in the hotel bar on the front with free tapas type food. Lovely bedrooms - room 69 was excellent!

Review 28:- Nothing!! Unfortunately booked this hotel only for 1 night. Should have stayed longer here. Cala Ganone is one of the most amazing places to visit in Sardinia.

Review 29:+ Premium location in Cala Ganone - so near to the seaside, beach, city center, shops etc.; + Helpful staff; + Best breakfast in our stay in Sardinia; + Cozy design in the room; + Totally should choose a room with a partly sea view or sea view balcony - it's worth it!

Review 30:The only down side to this accommodation were the beds. They were rock hard and I like a firm bed but this was too much.

Review 31:The location of this hotel was perfect. Situated right on the front, close to all restaurants. It was clean and all the staff we're extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 32:The hotel is right by the sea, with a stunning rooftop terrace. It is located a short walk down to the port. Rent your own boat to explore the Golfo di Orosei :-) There are plenty restaurants, hotels and nice spots for a drink. Good value, clean and simple rooms. Pretty good breakfast at the terrace with a great view. Parking in May was for free, this could be a problem during High Season.

Review 33:Nothing it was excellent

Review 34:Nice room, comfy bed and right by the sea!! Friendly and helpful staff, arranged an iron for me really quick. Good breakfast selection

Review 35:Breakfast is ok but could go the extra mile. Apparently if you opt for the menu of the day you're not allowed to stay in the restaurant area by the sea (so the waiter explained to me, which I obviously didn't understand and stayed there regardless...)

Review 36:Staff was very nice and always ever so helpful, especially the ladies in the reception. The location is perfect. Ideal if you want to go to the beach and swim a bit before breakfast. Beautiful view from the bar on the top floor. Great food in the restaurant. Ideal if you fancy a nice meal whilst gazing at the sea.

Review 37:The service is rather poor, especially in comparison with the other places we were in Sardinia. The room is nothing fancy, but comfortable. The breakfast is nothing special but OK as well. What was on the bad side of the experience for me was that there are no smiling people asking what kind of coffee you would like as at the other places. In fact there were no smiling faces at all. You have to order at the bar..I had first cappuccino and than a coffee. Without to mention it, they put the cappuccino on my room bill, because obviously only one is free, but obviously not the first one...It is not about the 2.5 EUR I paid, it's just left a bad feeling in me...

Review 38:The location is perfect. Very tasteful home made ravioli in a lovely restaurant.

Review 39:Cala Gnonoe is a bit out of the way if you are touring the island. But, the scenery made up for it.

Review 40:Pleasant staff, clean, recently renovated. Fab sea views from room and top floor solarium.

Review 41:none

Review 42:- location : narrow road to cross to reach the beach - good hotel restaurant at the beach, many others nears - terrasse overlooking the beach / port - small but nice beach - free parking in the street

Review 43:Overall maintenance of the hotel is quite poor. If there would be more attention for broken material and also cleaning of the restrooms in the restaurant downstairs, the overall area could look pretty amazing There was no 'team spirit' among the staff. No pro active behaviour, and every day we had to wait long before we were even got noticed at the terrace bar in front of the hotel and at the restaurant. The room was really hot in the night, the airco will only be switched on when the real seazon starts (now set on heating system), even though it was already around 30 degrees outside and beginning may. If the staff would be more pro-active in service delivery and had an eye for the state of the hotel, it could be a really nice place to be. If you read the comments they are always quite similar, it is a shame that it looks that nothing has been done with the comments so far... Overall the price was way to high for the service given.

Review 44:Location was really nice, we had a room with side lake view. The hotelroom was clean, and the roofterrace was pretty nice.

Review 45:- no restaurant currently (11 to 14/4) ==> will open for the season / enough possibilities in the neighborhood

Review 46:- Breakfast is excellent - Flexibility of people to find solutions to our needs - Nice terrace on the roof

Review 47:The hotel is exactly what we expected to see after reading all the feedback.Excellent location, modern rooms, good breakfast with home made yoghurt..real treat. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Excellent dinner on their oceanfront terace- all compliments to cheef.

Review 48:Unbelievably beautiful spot in a gem of a town. Nestled on the other side of the mountains facing the sea, Cala Gogone was a hidden treasure. Hotel was simple yet chic and relaxed with an off-beat mix of families, low-key climbers and hikers. Can walk to everything- beach, grocery store, bars and restaurants. Balcony was fun and terrace had great views of the sea. Yoga and gym also on offer.

Review 49:The hotel is exactly what we expected to see after reading all the feedback.Excellent location, modern rooms with all brand new furniture and bath fixtures, soft linens..The breakfast was the best we have experienced on our trip, from the eggs to the cold cuts and cheeses,to home made yoghurt..real treat. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating.Don,t miss the dinner on their oceanfront patio!

Review 50:"free" wifi meant you had to pay 3euro activation fee per device and had to log in every few minutes. Cleaners come early and are quite noisy so don't expect a lay in!

Review 51:Friendly staff that were helpful with planing day trips

Review 52:The parking issue at Cala Gonone is bad. It would be fine if there was a decent public transport, but a car is essential if you want to see the island (which I recommend). There was sometimes a bad smell of sewage at times (esp. the public WC in the hotel) - maybe an issue with the area's plumbing. The breakfast was simple, but the toaster is old fashioned and worked ok sometimes. The eggs are lovely but I missed my bacon. The hairdryer was one of those wall mounted ones and they are usually weak. This one was awful and it doesn't take much to have a normal hairdryer (they are not expensive)

Review 53:The location is fantastic and is such a good base for both the beaches and the countryside. The hotel was attractive and we got the sea view we requested. The shower was good and the bed comfortable. Staff were friendly and willing to help you (parking ticket issues or booking excursions). We ate at the restaurant one night and it was great. Cocktails are good too!

Review 54:As the hotel was located right in town by the water, it did not have any additional land to host a customer parking lot. This means you must find a local city parking spot (many free ones scattered around town) which can be challenging depending on when you are arriving. Sometimes we had to circle around neighboring streets hunting for a spot. This was not a huge deal as we could usually find one within 5 or 10 minutes of checking around, but it is a slight inconvenience, especially if you will be using your car often. On the upside, we did not pay anything for parking the entire time we were there.

Review 55:Staff was very friendly, providing local touring advice. Staff was very accommodating, allowing us to utilize the complimentary breakfast even though we arrived as it was supposed to end for the day. Hotel is in a great location looking out onto the water, and right in the middle of the main town strip in front of the water. We requested a sea-view room and were provided with an excellent room which also had a large 10' x 10' walk out balcony and outdoor dining furniture which was a pleasant surprise. Room had good AC, fridge, nice washroom and ample storage space. The patios on the second floor are much larger than those above (more regular balconies) so be sure to request a second floor sea view room.

Review 56:I wish I hadn't said all those nice things as now everyone will want to come to Cala Ganone!

Review 57:Very helpful friendly staff who arranged excellent value outings. The room had the best sea view, as requested, that we have ever enjoyed. The breakfast was one of the best experienced in Italy. And it was right by an uncrowded beach.

Review 58:We found the staff - especially the staff serving breakfast - quite unfriendly and at times outright rude. We had an incident where we weren't even allowed to order a cup of coffee because we had left the buffet table. This just makes one's stay unpleasant. Would have loved to have seen more local produce. There was homemade yoghurt which we enjoyed, but they was still too much processed/commerical food provided for breakfast.

Review 59:Nicely located, well maintained. It has a lovely roof terrace and small gym which no-one seems to use. Even our standard room had lovely views over the bay.

Review 60:Free parking can be a little difficult to find but not a major hassle.

Review 61:Perfect waterside location; gorgeous terrace; great restaurant; good breakfast; friendly and helpful staff

Review 62:They could offer easier wifi access and not limit it to one device.

Review 63:We stayed in the seaside view rooms and the balcony was spacious with a great view. The breakfast is very good and the restaurant offers a variety for lunch or dinner.

Review 64:Bed was a little firm.

Review 65:We really enjoyed our two night stay at Cala Luna, and would have liked to stay longer. The hotel was very nice, and the staff friendly and helpful. We had a room with balcony overlooking the street. It was a little noisy being on the 1st floor, so I would request something higher if you had a choice. The noise was much better with the mechanical blinds closed, but then the room was a little stuffy. The view was great though. We did find the bed to be a bit firm as well. The breakfast was very nice with fresh fruits and home made pastries and yoghurts. We also ate a dinner at the hotel and had a nice meal (the panna cotta was fantastic!). We followed the advice of the front desk and reserved a spot on an all day boat trip to nearby beaches and were very glad we did. The captain did a great job of getting us to some great locations and avoiding the worst of the crowds. Luckily there were folks on the trip to interpret for us. There is also some good snorkeling just across the street from the Cala Luna and at a nearby beach Cala Carto. We would definitely recommend the Cala Luna during a visit to Cala Ganone.

Review 66:Expensive during the seadon & rooms are noisy

Review 67:Great location & good food

Review 68:Location, facilities and staff were excellent!

Review 69:Location, staff

Review 70:Everything was good.

Review 71:I liked this hotel.

Review 72:Perfect location Friendly staff Very cool lounge area on the top floor

Review 73:Mediocre rooms

Review 74:Location

Review 75:The service, the Restaurant, the bar, the location

Review 76:Nothing

Review 77:The staff were excellent throughout - very warm, welcoming and efficient.

Review 78:the owner of the hotel is not the friendliest but the waiting staff were.

Review 79:hotel was clean and location is right on the coast with nice view.

Review 80:There is nothing to dry wet clothes acter beach

Review 81:Pictures on the wall

Review 82:nothing

Review 83:location , breakfast , roof top terrace

Review 84:No parking

Review 85:Location, breakfast, size of the room

Review 86:Nothink

Review 87:Nice view on the sea + very complete breakfast

Review 88:Nothing to dislike

Review 89:Everything.

Review 90:Emptying of bottles from bar into bottle bank outside window - 7am every morning!

Review 91:View over small road to sea. Nice breakfasts Rooftop Gallery

Review 92:Great location, lovely breakfast, very clean and fab roof top area too

Review 93:Air conditioner really noisy, holes in sheets, small room.

Review 94:Perfect for the beaches, great shower, free bike rental.

Review 95:Unhelpfull staff

Review 96:Great location close to beach, great breakfast

Review 97:we should have stayed longer

Review 98:all

Review 99:Everything, place is fantastic, stuff is very friendly, delicious food, recommendable hotel

Review 100:Nothing.

Review 101:Beautiful hotel. Fabulous room with a balcony. Restaurant attached had delicious food we ate here twice.

Review 102:During our stay it was windy and the shutters at our window was very noisy disturbing our night rest

Review 103:The location is excellent, close to beach and restaurants at boulevard. From the roof terras the views are beautifull

Review 104:Didn't stay here for a longer time. Only stayed one night.

Review 105:Seaside view with a balcony overlooking a quieter side of the ocean. Newly renovated rooms. Great breakfast that you could enjoy on the outside terrace.

Review 106:Be careful: Most of the rooms with SIDE sea view go out onto a street where rubbish bins are emptied at 5am in the morning -> lots of noise - either sleep with the window closed or spend some more money to get a room with front sea view

Review 107:Overall great stay: Very friendly and helpful staff (broken toilet flush was fixed within 1 hour), excellent breakfast buffet (juices, freshly made Cappuccino/latte macchiato from the bar, fresh fruits, different cakes/croissants, eggs (boiled/scrambled), bread/toast, ham, cheeses, jams/honey/Nutella, joghurt, tomatoes and mozzarella, ...) and possibility to have breakfast outside on the terrace, clean and spacious bath-/room, directly situated at the seaside with many restaurants around (hotel-own restaurant very good but higher-priced), short ways to beaches/port, boat trip organized by the Hotel; Cala Gonone as a place great to stay if you are into beaches (most wonderful Little sandy/gravelly bays), hiking and climbing - however, make sure you have a car to get around

Review 108:Hotel does not keep its end of the contract, which is a trust issue. They offered free-wifi, but it only refered to the firstequipment/person. If you would like to use later a second one it is3 eur. Staff pretended not to understand this problem when pointed outand did not give additional code for free wifi in the room.Lateral see view is actually only from the balcony. The window faces an ugly street, turning sideways on the balcony there was a tree to be seen and some patch of water inside the pier under the tree. Reception lady claimed not to have received identity card half an hour after moving in, which she then discovered under her desk where she dropped it after we many times repeatedly confirmed that we given to her.

Review 109:Good buffet breakfast

Review 110:The bed was really hard.

Review 111:The location, tone and decor of the hotel were great. Our room had a large balcony facing the sea. Breakfast was well above average in terms of quality and choice and all the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Review 112:No wireless in room (I didn't know there were still hotels like this, come on!)

Review 113:Our room was very quiet, but it faced a side road, so I can't comment for sea view. The room was very modernly furnished. Everything was very clean. The position is very good.

Review 114:Noise from the garbage collectors in the street in the early mornings.

Review 115:The hotel had a very nice atmosphere and a great location. The breakfastbuffet was of a high standard compared to most italian hotels.

Review 116:Amazing location - you step out and you are on the main tiny pedestrian street and the boat peer is just a couple of minutes away as well. Very nice and flowery terrace to have breakfast.

Review 117:1)Only 1 lady staff is friendly and helpful among 3 of them I have seen during my 4 days stay.2)breadfast is okay and u might have to wait for few mins and ask for the waitress to clean up your table after someone left for long. 3)bathroom towels are thin like paper (or i should say its more like a tea towel instead) 4) beach towels rental euro 3 per day (seriously???) in mykonos/santorini/ibiza/capri, those 4 stars hotels only charge from euro 1-2

Review 118:1) Located along the beach and only 2 mins walking distance to the port where all the boat rental or excusions take places.2) extremley clean and tidy, hardly find any spots nor stains on anything, thumbs up for them

Review 119:My boyfriend and I stayed for one night, but when we saw the place and the hotel, we regreted not staying longer! The room was clean and modern. The hotel has gym on the top and a terrace/solarium with magnific views!! Plus, the staff is very friendly and kind! And the breakfast...abundant, perfect!! We'll repeat for sure!! Carlos y Lucía

Review 120:Very friendly, helpful staff, excellent position-near the port, where you can rent a boat to have wonderful trip along the coast. The hotel is very nice, clean, modern design, brand new. The breakfast is very good. The room with sea view is super. Higlhly recommend for short stay during your trip around Sardinia.

Review 121:The room we stayed in (1st floor) had a bathroom that was way too small for a shower, bidet, toilet and a sink. Probably a small calculation error when planning the bathroom.

Review 122:Excellent location and hospitable and helpful staff. Restaurant in the front of the hotel has also some amazing views.

Review 123:At the time we have stayed (begining of June) it was too windy. And the sea was cold. On the famous beach Cala Luna there was not any amenity space you could enjoy.

Review 124:The hotel location was good near to seaside. The room was modern furnished. The bathroom was large enough. There was a balcony with a sea view. The housekeeping and cleanness of room, bed linings were good. The wireless connection was good.

Review 125:The location is perfect, and the family owned business, go out of their way to make sure everything is to your liking, We stayed 4 nights and would recommend, whitout hesitation. Breakfast buffet is plenty, beautiful terrase across the street, and restaurant food is excellent. May 2013

Review 126:I'm not a own-hotel-restaurant-eater but the great food at the restaurant belonging to the Cala Luna Hotel was absolutely superb, just like the cozy outdoor patio at the boulevard

Review 127:very thin towels - like napkins (maybe so people don't take them to the beach???)

Review 128:incredibly helpful staff. great sandwiches at their restaurant. clean and comfortable room. very quiet

Review 129:Prices in the hotel's restaurant were more expensive than other restaurants around.

Review 130:Brilliant location and friendly, helpful staff. Best croissants in cala gonone!

Review 131:One receptionist was not so nice. And the boat trip was not so nice at all, but it seems the waves were to high on that day. Also the beaches close to the hotel are very crowded, but in high season in Cala Gonone this is normal.

Review 132:Great location, very good kitchen, good comfort, rooms better than on the pictures, great roof terrace, nice staff (especially one receptionist)

The Fine Print

Please note the restaurant is open from 25 April until 31 October.
