Reviews for Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel
Review 1:Lovely receptionist who checked us in very promptly and organised taxi into opera house. Night porter provided us with drinks on our arrival back .... He was very accomadating .. Breakfast was very tasty a great selection on the menu.
Review 2:Had to go outside to get to bar but as weather was lovely it wasn't really an issue.
Review 3:Staff were very friendly and the food excellent. Beds were extremely comfortable and rooms were spotless.
Review 4:Service in restaurants was not good. Staff not trained well and service was poor.
Review 5:Friendliness of staff, great service by staff, restaurants on site, shopping on site.
Review 6:There wasnt anything about the hotel itself that I didn't like, more disapointment with the restaurant, I ordered porridge for my breakfast, expecting a wonderful traditional Irish experience, instead I got what tasted like a thinned down version of the two minutes instant oat mix, and I could have poured it into a cup and drank it.Needless to say, I left it.
Review 7:lovely hotel, has a feeling of warmth, nostalgic grandeur to it, rooms spacious, clean and comfortable, staff were warm, hospitable, friendly and very helpful.situated in a place for painters and poets. I have stayed there several times and will definitely return.
Review 8:Wi-Fi was not the best in the rooms.
Review 9:Lovely hotel in a superb location for visiting Cork City and Blarney Castle, which is within walking distance. Great parking.
Review 10:Room was hot.
Review 11:Beautiful room - spacious and had everything you could want in a hotel. Exercise room was well equipped. Spectacular location - easy walk to Blarney Castle. Good pubs in the neighborhood.
Review 12:Nothing negative
Review 13:Great location and very friendly staff. Loved the shopping and free shipping to save space in my luggage. Also no hold on credit card. The shower works very well.
Review 14:I booked with points through Amex but the hotel said that it hadn't been paid for although they did have my reservation. Working with Amex now to get that straightened out. I booked my second night through booking.com but the hotel said they didn't have that reservation. Fortunately, they had a room for me that night. So you might want to confirm your reservations with the hotel before you arrive.
Review 15:Wonderful hotel. Perfect for visiting Blarney hotel. Great staff.
Review 16:Not really bad, just a little complicated and time consuming when setting up the wifi. (Confusing for elderly people). It has 4 passwords and asking for an email address to log in. It takes much time reading the instructions when logging in. Could have been simplier with single user name and password. Time is gold for travellers as you know.
Review 17:The breakfast was great and staff are very helpful. Big lobby with loads of lovely comfy chairs and a convenient bar at the corner.
Review 18:No aspect of the hotel or facilities were displeasing
Review 19:Loved my stay, fab hotel with even more fabulous staff, excellent value for money, will definitely be returning
Review 20:Stayed in room , 206, disliked noise from generator or some other machine , even with window closed was it was still annoying noise, not continous but with regular timed interruptions .
Review 21:Liked new revamp of hotel- new reception area is very welcoming .
Review 22:it would be an improvement to have WI FI free during the stay as opposed to the first 24 hrs.
Review 23:Great location as a base for travelling to West Cork and Kerry. Good facilities with friendly, professional staff. Good location in village. No need to drive out in the evening.
Review 24:Felt it wasn't very personnel staff didn't seem interested really didn't go the extra mile or show passion so many people going thru the place bus loads
Review 25:Location is excellent
Review 26:Couldn't sleep most of night as snoring from next room was so loud. Walls must be very thin. No room service that we could see and no menus for any restaurants within the rooms.Breakfast staff were not attentive at all and the continental breakfast is very sparse. Would not recommend although the outlet centre is fabulous.
Review 27:Beautiful setting.
Review 28:Nothing
Review 29:A converted mill this hotel has real character. I travel alot and this hotel ticks all the boxes - great breakfast, comfortable room and nice staff and amazing value for money.
Review 30:Poor marking of hotel entrance. Not labeled as hotel. Looks like the end of woolen mill. Better signage, please!!
Review 31:Front desk clerk, upon checking in could not have been more welcoming and polite. A true testament to Irish hospitality!
Review 32:No heat or air in the hotel rooms. Had to order an Iron as rooms are not equipped with them.
Review 33:The hotel was great, the restaurant in the hotel was amazing (food was great). The store there had everything you could think of and was connected to the hotel. Easy walk to the Blarney Castel and right next to a small town center.
Review 34:The only thing I didn't like was the fact we could hear next doors TV and hear them talking at times
Review 35:Staff very friendly the rooms are nice and the location is very good literally walking distance to the pubs and restaurants.
Review 36:Noise from the reception area into the first floor. Hard surfaces downstairs , no sound insulation and the fire door being used as the main entrance while repairs made to main door. Poor signposting of main entrance.
Review 37:Great design and bright and cheery restaurant
Review 38:We travelled as a family of five and could not fault this place. The rooms were clean and well catered for with plenty of electrical sockets, mirrors, daily towels, tea, coffee, etc. the staff were very friendly and chatty and even though there was an intial issue with the booking (they had put our booking as November instead of April) they bent over backwards to fix it and get us set up in our rooms. Would highly recommend this beautiful place.
Review 39:Booking .com had not confirmed our booking with the hotel!! we were very lucky and after the hotel did some jigging around found us a room.. this could of been a problem. No wifi in bedrooms only in lobby area.
Review 40:fantastic location, friendly staff, history of hotel.
Review 41:Room badly in need of redecoration, view from window of derelict warehouses, and general rubbish and untidiness.... not a great view.
Review 42:Close to castle and good restaurants in Blarney town, nice friendly staff.
Review 43:WiFi did not work and there was no staff capable of making repairs.... food offering was very spartan.... no staff to assist with luggage... except for location, probably the worst stay on our trip around Ireland. Solve the food problem, by taking a short walk to a nearby restaurant.
Review 44:Location to Woolen Mill Shopping and Castle very good
Review 45:Bathroom shabby, tiles and grouting very bad . No shower hats. Breakfastonly ok and when asked for mushrooms a dish of the greasiest mushrooms Iever saw arrived I could not eat them . I Felt for the price of 90 euroit was very bad value
Review 46:Bed very comfortable.waitress at breakfast very helpful.
Review 47:There is a bar right at the hotel which was noisy until late. Also there was a function downstairs that started at 10 pm with live music which carried upstairs.
Review 48:The hotel was nice. The staff was friendly. The food was good. It is located very close to the Blarney Castle which has beautiful grounds if you have time to spend. There is a very small village that is an easy walk.
Review 49:N/A. To find fault would be unjustified.
Review 50:Warm friendly welcome.clean & comfortable room.friendly & obliging dining room staff good food & the price was right.
Review 51:There was nothing I didn't like
Review 52:The staff everywhere within the Woollen Mills businesses were so kind an friendly. They couldn't do enough to help. The locals were just as friendly. Everything of interest was of easy reach to the hotel. The room was clean and spacious. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 53:We enjoyed our stay at the Blarney Woollen Mills Hotel; hotel, shop, bar/restaurant were always busy. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 54:nothing - everything was good, though the roads to and from Blarney had us confused initially.
Review 55:The building - being the old woollen mill - is beautiful. The attached shop was so good most of our gifts to take home to Australia were bought here; and we could have spent heaps more. Breakfast = even without paying the extra for the hot food - was terrific.
Review 56:Waited too long to check in and I was the only one at the counter as the lady was on the phone with a customer;. same when we checked out. Definitely need 2 people on front desk. Rooms could use a refreshing lift. When we went to have a bath before dinner there was no hot water. Fixed hour later. When we went to h
Review 57:Location to Blarney Castle was excellent - 5 minute walk. The building in which the hotel is housed has character and charm. The dining area is well planned and one of the best omelettes I've ate.
Review 58:N/A everything was perfect.
Review 59:The staff was absolutely amazing they made sure everything was perfect. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and the shower was hot! We will stay there again when we return next summer. Thank you!
Review 60:No washcloth
Review 61:We liked the large room and uniqueness of the hotel. The staff was very helpful for directing guests for sightseeing and entertainment in the area. It was very close to Blarney Castle.
Review 62:Rooms very dark, asked to be moved to other side of the hotel and this was done very quickly. Rooms need a bit of TLC and updating.
Review 63:Great location, friendly staff
Review 64:Needs a little TLC. Windows in need of a clean and paint Mill restaurant was closed very early. I had intended to meet with someone there at 5.30 but it was closed
Review 65:Lovely old style hotel with the woollen mills shop next door and Christy's Pub beside it. Very comfortable room
Review 66:Breakfast was major dusappointment. Tinned fruit rather than fresh to put on yogurt. Scrambled eggs tasted like they cam from a carton and bacon microwaved. Hotel management should look at amount of food left on plates and ask themselves why guests are not eating it.
Review 67:Prompt check in and departure. Good size rooms.
Review 68:Nothing at all.
Review 69:The staff. There was an initial problem with rooms but this was sorted out efficiently. The hotel, the Woollen Mill shop, Christys store, Cristys Bar, Food. The whole stay was amazing.
Review 70:Evening dining only available in busy bar. Location very convenient to cork city but not great for accessing other areas of county. Dead flowers in window boxes presented a neglected first impresion.
Review 71:Very clean. Staff pleasant and competent. Great selection of hot breakfast. Excellent value.
Review 72:Nothing bad to say.
Review 73:This hotel was a bargain and I was worried I would get what I'd paid for! we were so pleasantly surprised on arrival. Rose at reception greeted us with a warm Irish welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The room smelt fresh and the linen was crisp and clean. We high fived ourselves for such an excellent choice. Location is perfect.
Review 74:The hotel is very dated in it's design and look. There was a letter missing off the hotel sign at the front. For Blarney, a well respected and tourist loved brand I feel the hotel could do with a refresh to show that it has changed with modern times. It could have been the year 1994 we were staying and not 2014!
Review 75:I liked the spacious room and the compfy bed. Staff were really nice and the breakfast offering the next morning was great.
Review 76:All the front counter staff were extremely helpful, i.e., advise on money exchange, printed out directions for us, got us the number for our carrier's international calling help. Couldn't ask for better staff!
Review 77:Wifi had a problem, but was fixed before night. No problems really.
Review 78:Comfortable bed. Good facilities. Nice shower with good water pressure and hot water. So close to the Blarney Castle.
Review 79:Process for getting breakfast was a little confusing. There was no iron our room
Review 80:Location is very good and staff are friendly, room was very nice as well. Great breakfast
Review 81:This hotel was extremely clean! It is also in the perfect spot to explore the village and walk to the Blarney Castle. Go over to the castle for 9am as the tour buses leave the hotel shortly after. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were also very good on site.
Review 82:Wifi was non-existent and we needed to go out into the corridor to use it! But minor problem in an overall excellent venue!
Review 83:Fantastic location for those visiting Blarney Castle, loved the facilities with nearby shopping and restaurant. Excellent for families, would definitely recommend.
Review 84:A Lift was broken In our room was very hot
Review 85:excellent location /5min to Blarney Castle, 5 min to SuperValu, 10 min to Playground/ new TV free breakfast free extra bed nice staff
Review 86:Small complaint: the wifi was irregular at best, failing in the middle of communication, which we were reliant upon for booking train, bus and other travel details . Not a big deal but an inconvenience.
Review 87:Loved the old-fashioned elegance, the decor, high ceilings, tall windows, wood Staff were helpful and friendly It is a beautiful location , just a short bus ride from Cork
Review 88:The decor is very dull and needs a bit of a lift to make it more appealing. The hotel has limited facilities for the price charged. We have been to Blarney many times without our children and have stayed in B & B's and other hotels in the local area. We had never stayed in the Woolen Mills and wanted to give it a try. We did not think we got good value for the price we paid compared to other local accommodation with better facilities.
Review 89:The receptionist that booked us in was very nice and friendly. The location in the centre of Blarney is great.
Review 90:Should have access to snacks later on at night. Don't forget the little things just minor details, the o in the woollen name on the front falling down, the grout on the tub wall falling out, just little things. Great spot thought
Review 91:Great location, clean, nice people,
Review 92:The location is great, right near Blarney Castle. The castle was interesting enough but its grounds are worth exploring and our young kids loved it. The town itself is nice with terrific scenery in the area. The hotel is old but rooms are clean and comfortable and had a bit more character than some newer generic ones. We were lucky enough to have good weather and after eating in town came back to the hotel where the pub has outdoor seating. The breakfast was pretty good. Staff in the hotel and adjoining shop were very friendly.
Review 93:Have to leave the building to get evening meal or a drink
Review 94:Good value. Friendly staff
Review 95:If I had to say anything it was the view, but that wasn't important for me.
Review 96:Such a comfortable bed and powerful shower.
Review 97:Loved the friendly helpful staff. The whole building was superb.
Review 98:Gym equipment could do with upgrade.
Review 99:Very comfy rooms, very clean.
Review 100:Near to everything and great food. had everything you could need. Will stay again
Review 101:Comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation, great location to attractions
Review 102:The friendliness of the staff and the great bedrooms, fabulous breakfast
Review 103:Staff were very friendly and professional. Bed was really comfortable and the breakfast had a good choice. I would recommend this hotel.
Review 104:The location and staff was very good.
Review 105:Nice quiet room. Location is very good. Liked refurbishments carried out.
Review 106:All of the tour bus coming and going it was like a bus station
Review 107:friendly staff lovely place good location
Review 108:Location excellent, beautiful hotel and setting. Excellent restaurant and pub. Awesome shopping on site!
Review 109:Nice, spacious room and good breakfast. The location was also nice
Review 110:The staff were a little depressed
Review 111:The food availabel and the atmosphere in the restaurant wasvery good
Review 112:room decor was a little dated
Review 113:the renovated hotel is amazing breakfast good
Review 114:Very close to Blarney Castle, provided comfortable rooms at a reasonable rate. Very obliging staff.
Review 115:I really enjoyed the spacious bathroom and large lobby.
Review 116:Whilst I appreciate this is an old mill converted to hotel accommodation, the view from the room is really not good
Review 117:Excellent facilities and breakfast
Review 118:Price was a bit expensive.
Review 119:Location, clean and friendly.
Review 120:It was very relaxing. .. staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and they are a very professional bunch....
Review 121:The room was quite warm and there was only a small pane that opened.
Review 122:Location
Review 123:Far too expensive for what we got. Room just ok. Breakfast served in adjoining cafe.
Review 124:Good location.
Review 125:Didnt have much time in hotel as I was working all the time. However what I did experience seemed very pleasant
Review 126:Poor signage to find property and wrong address on booking.com
Review 127:Upgraded us to executive suite because we requested accessible facilities.
