Reviews for Swan Revived Hotel

Review 1:The room was tired and the bathroom consisted of a w/c and shower cubicle with a curtain that didn't fit. The wash hand basin was in the room so brushing your teeth had to be done after you had left the bathroom.

Review 2:Not a lot .

Review 3:The room was clean & comfortable (looked like it had been recently decorated) but it was on the 3rd floor (lift only goes to the 2nd) & it was in the roof space & had a sloping ceiling and only a very small narrow window in the corner; we only stayed one night so not much of an issue but would not have been happy if we had been staying longer. Hotel overnight doorman was not at all helpful or friendly.

Review 4:Breakfast is excellent at this hotel; good quality sausages & bacon from local butcher (not the usual poor quality rubbish that you get in a lot of hotels). Reception & Restaurant staff were helpful & friendly.

Review 5:the room was very comfortable and clean. The Breakfast was very good I had the Continental one with Ham and Cheese and the ham and cheese were really tasty.

Review 6:The location is not convenient. For example between Cranfield University and other relevant points shown in the bus route stops. The C1 or C10 buses only stop at Newport in certain routes and the last bus from the University is around 6 pm, forcing visitors to take cabs from and to the B&B. The room can be very hot (not control in the heating located in the bathroom) Although it is stated being a double bedroom, the bed is not long enough or wide enough for two people. This may be based on being narrow rooms. Small wardrobe. Cleaning could be a little bit better and some checking of facilities (light for shaving not working) The distribution of rooms and location can be confusing. Based on the location, I think is kind off expensive.

Review 7:Staff approachable and helpful. I think that the fact that you can cancel up to two days in advance is great. Good strong bed (although as stated it seems small for two people) Nice to be able to have a bath, please consider to provide a hair drier. Nice to have a small kettle. Fair breakfast. Lift facilities.

Review 8:absolutely tiny room, listed as a double for single use?! very soft mattress -- woke up with sore back. all for £75 a night (inc breakfast)?

Review 9:good breakfast & car park

Review 10:Staff very helpful. Downside I would say that the lift only going to the 2nd floor and putting an 83 year old man on the third floor was not appropriate

Review 11:The elevator goes only to the second floor and we had to carry our luggage up to the third floor - we managed with three heavy cases but it was a bit of a struggle. It won't keep us from returning but it is a problem!

Review 12:Our room on the third floor was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was small but very clean and modern.

Review 13:Cold room upon arrival - heating difficult to judge because it was an electric heater. Bed slightly too soft for my taste or else just had a dip in it - couldn't tell. Breakfast waitress a bit sub par.

Review 14:One of the two receptionists was extremely friendly and excellent at the job.

Review 15:The hotel was full yet, despite this, there only appeared to be one person looking after 2 separate bars in the evening.

Review 16:The quality of the dinner served in the evening was very good and the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Review 17:The staff were fantastic, they let my sister in to our room before we arrived so she could leave some surprise gifts for our engagement. They were really friendly & helpful.

Review 18:There seems to be a shortage of staff which meant that we had to wait an hour to get our breakfast in our room in the morning. The breakfast was ok but not great.

Review 19:All the staff were extremely helpful and generally lovely. The hotel let us check in earlier than their usual hours as we'd just arrived back into the UK.

Review 20:Signs to the rooms on the 3rd floor could have been better placed. Spent a while walking round the landings looking for the room! Hot chocolate would have made a nice offering next to the tea and coffee. A little bit pricy for what you get.

Review 21:Really nice accommodation in a nice area of Milton Keynes. Comfy bed with goof facilities and parking. Great morning shower.

Review 22:There were loads of cobwebs and big spiders in the windows, dead bugs along the carpet under the windows and we were right above the bar which didn't close until late, and given the windows were only single paned it was very noisy until the bar kicked out

Review 23:The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. Decent sized room for two people, staff were very friendly and helpful and hotel as a whole looked very nice.

Review 24:none

Review 25:The frog and nightgown pub attached to the hotel was a excellent addition to our stay with the pub quiz providing good entertainment! Rooms were a good size and in good condition with all modern amenities.

Review 26:Walls are paper thin and no bedside lamp, the lights are either on or off. Is a little faded and paying a premium rate for a nice but basic room.

Review 27:Excellent location although tricky to find the car park. Good breakfast and friendly staff

Review 28:The hotel states that it has an elevator. However if anyone is unlucky enough to be assigned one of the 3 rooms (as we were) that is on the second floor of the Annex, the elevator only takes you half way. Then after a few up and down steps, there is a full flight of stairs to climb. Very unexpected, and not appreciated.

Review 29:i didnt know they was a pub next to the hotel and then found out in was under us room so we didnt get must sleep and the car park was very small .

Review 30:the staff was very friendly and nice to chat too , the room was very nice and easy to get to the high street ansd very cleaning and i lush shower lol .

Review 31:Breakfast was a little disappointing - we were hurried into ordering good and ended up with cool toast, two slightly sad rashers of bacon and three sausages.

Review 32:The staff were so friendly and helpful and caterered to our every need.

Review 33:cost on this particular time I was only there for 1 night so 83 pound wasn't a big hit to the pocket, that said I booked for a colleague too, so two rooms 166 pound for one night is questionable, especially as we are normally away for two weeks at a time. So a better long stay rate may be preferable.

Review 34:Location for my work place

Review 35:My wife and I booked a table for 4 for dinner in the restaurant, but were later told that the hotel had subsequently received another booking for 9 covers in the restaurant and this meant that we now had to eat in the bar- no option ! This was downright rude and totally unacceptable so we cancelled the meal and ate elsewhere. Remember that this hotel has 40 rooms, so should surely be able to cater for more than 9 + 4 covers in the Restaurant without bouncing their residents out after having accepted a reservation ?? This incredibly poor behaviour spoiled what might otherwise have been a pleasant stay.

Review 36:- Incredibly hot room. No aircon, and no way to ventilate the room (1 tiny window) - Middle of July: bed still had a very thick down duvet. - Tiny room, could barely fit baby travel cot - Limescale and grime in the bathroom. Bathroom could do with a proper scrub - No step free access to our room (very inconvenient with pram) - Breakfast very basic (eggs, bacon, beans... plus some cereal) - Overpriced, we paid £90 for a regular double room.

Review 37:- Not much, would not stay here again

Review 38:The room was very warm and we were unable to open the window. That was uncomfy. There was a fan in the room but to use it would have kept us awake.

Review 39:On site parking, friendly staff, clean hotel, comfy bed, lovely rooms and a great varity for breakfast.

Review 40:wifi a little flaky.

Review 41:Easy to find, lots of parking both in the hotel and the free car park alongside, pub style setting, nice bar, nice food, nice staff. Clean room s- comfy beds.

Review 42:The room was costlofobic. Breakfast was average. Shower was too small closed in and needs a good clean and regrouting.

Review 43:Newport pagnall is a lovely friendly small town nicely situated. Staff were friendly.

Review 44:While the room was reasonable, the decor is dated, and there was human (I presume) hairs on top of the tissue box holder next to the wash basin (which is located in the room). Though my room was cleaned(???)/tidied each day the curly hairs remained on top of the tissue box holder. Though I could have complained I've come to realise that this is pretty much of the standard in the UK for hotel rooms; what galling though, is that, at £86 per night, the set-up was found wanting.

Review 45:The staff were quite good, particularly Derek (nice guy). The location is reasonably good and reaching Bedford or MK is easy enough.

Review 46:I was on a short business course that required internet connection in the evenings. The connection was poor for 3 consecutive evenings.

Review 47:Room with a lovely view of the countryside.

Review 48:I needed to work in the evening but the 3rd floor room was squeezed into the roof-space with little available room to sit and study.

Review 49:The location was good and the staff were friendly. I ate in the restaurant and also had breakfast. Both meals were good within a "pub-grub" context. The rooms were very smoke-free.

Review 50:The walls are super thin. I heard quite loudly someone snoring in the room next door to me. On Saturday night, there were very loud pub go'ers below until the early hours.

Review 51:I loved my bed! So comfy. Best nights sleep in a long while. I also enjoyed breakfast which was nice and hot. The location was great, just a short drive from central Milton Keynes and all local amenities at your doorstep. I also received an upgrade on arrival. Always nice!

Review 52:The receptionist could have been more cheerful. Restaurant and bar staff were lovely

Review 53:The food was amazing we had dinner and breakfast. Absolutely excellent

Review 54:Although the room was not large it was warm and comfortable. The bathroom was adequate with good water pressure in the shower: the hand basin was located in the bedroom due to lack of space in the bathroom. Food was excellent and good value.

Review 55:The only difficulty is parking. There are limited spaces at the back of the hotel. There is a public car park not far away but too far to carry cases - so if the hotel carpark is full these need to be offloaded before driving there

Review 56:Friendly "coaching inn" type of hotel. Good food, satisfactory bedroom, price a little on the high side.

Review 57:The hair in the bath. Breakfast not included in the price.

Review 58:Lovely Hotel, Clean, except there was hair in the bath!! Comfy bed, quiet :) so we slept well. Being in the heart of the centre was great, nice pubs and friendly people

Review 59:Hotel rooms definitely need a refresh. Rooms very small with single bed against the wall. When in 2nd or 3rd floor, it is quite cumbersome to carry up luggage (no elevator).

Review 60:Fairly quiet village at least at night time. Small but good choice for dining in close vicinity.

Review 61:Love the staff, food, location. Enjoyed a lovely birthday celebration meal. All made very welcome. Service excellent. Had an excellent nights sleep with a beautiful breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit.

Review 62:The Hotel its self is full of old charm situated on Newport Pagnell high street just a stone’s throw from the old church. The restaurant served very good food in a pleasant atmosphere. Had a beautifully cooked breakfast with late checkout. What really made the stay perfect were the staff. All were very friendly and helpful making our stay a very happy and relaxed one. I would highly recommend a stay at the Swan.

Review 63:Slow to take food orders in restaurant although almost empty. Noisy on room corridor as male guests tip out of the bar.

Review 64:Nice vegetarian food in restaurant& good breakfast. Good atmosphere in hotel.

Review 65:There was nothing I didn't like

Review 66:The lady on reception was very helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble - I would definitely stay there again - thank you

Review 67:I didn't like leaving :-)

Review 68:I have been staying at the Swan Revived a lot and I can't fault them on anything! It's always nice to know what you are getting when you book with them. Great friendly service, good food and a good nights rest. And if you go there on a Thursday make sure you join the quiz night in the pub!

Review 69:I am a little unsteady on my feet so the uneven levels of the floor were a little bit of a problem for me , but not for someone without a problem.

Review 70:convenient location for our evening out .lovely staff, easy parking. an enjoyable stay

Review 71:The wash basin was in the bedroom of Room 205 and the heated towel rail in the en suite toilet and shower room. We suggest a towel rail or ring be fixed in front of the wash basin.

Review 72:Convenience and location of hotel for us.

Review 73:Nothing

Review 74:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was was really clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really really. Would definitely stay again.

Review 75:The awfull bed sagging in the middle The pub rowdy crowd outside the room window into the early hours The dated room decor The price The service at breakfast The staff do not smile or say hello

Review 76:The location

Review 77:Very helpful friendly staff. Lovely old coaching inn. Third time I stayed at the Swan Revived & I've already booked in again for next year.

Review 78:I stayed here on business and met up with contacts. The hotel has character in a great central location in Newport Pagnall. Friendly staff and a relaxing lounge area to talk

Review 79:The staff on reception were hopeless and disinterested as were those in the restaurant at breakfast. I have stayed there a few times and the staff get progressively worse on each visit.Training should be a priority. I will not stay again.

Review 80:The staff in the bar adjoining the hotel were friendly and very helpful. I had an excellent meal there.

Review 81:Found nothing to dislike.

Review 82:Our room was at the top of the hotel but was a good size and the en suite was immaculate. A very high standard of cleanliness. Everything served at breakfast was hot and tasty. Really impressed.

Review 83:the food is excellent in the resterant and breakfast is plenty full with good choices , rooms are clean and every thing you need,a very good family run hotel in great location.

Review 84:We were told by the reception that breakfast would be served from 7am. Unfortunately this was incorrect according to the waiter who served us the next morning - we paid a lot of money for some toast and a cup of tea as there was no hot breakfast until 8am and we had to leave before then. Had we known we'd have not bothered t pay extra for breakfast!

Review 85:Good location and comfy bed

Review 86:Bed was double. We are used to king size

Review 87:Was very cosey and characterful! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nice and clean, roomy and pleasant. Bed was a double, we are used to king size so that's the only let down.

Review 88:Aged 60+ we were given an attic bedroom with a sloping cramped roof To this room we had to climb 26 stairs from the elevator with our cases in hand. The hotel was dated / tired and needs some modernisation

Review 89:Clean and tidy bedroom & bathroom. Breakfast good with friendly staff.

Review 90:Rooms out dated , service was slow took 15 mins each time to been seen 1st room had bulb out, parking an issue

Review 91:We were put in better room after bulb incident, food was good

Review 92:No bath, only a shower. Room was quite dark and overhanging eave made walking around the room difficult.

Review 93:The staff were friendly and facilities good. Food was good too.

Review 94:This could take a while! The building is very old and on the main High Street in Newport Pagnell. The floors are very crooked and have a lot of steps... slopes... dips! In the bedroom there were two steps down from the bathroom to the bedroom which in the middle of the night with the lights out could be lethal. I left my towels for changing and found it hung back up and not replaced. The bed was very uncomfortable with springs sticking into my back. It was blankets rather than a duvet. The room was cramped. The breakfast was quite expensive for what it was. The bill had the wrong room on it and was for the wrong amount. The car park is very tight, but there is a public one adjacent.

Review 95:They had a room which would take both dogs and an extra bed

Review 96:Room overlooked car-park and was very noisy as pub next door. Couldn't sleep till after midnight.

Review 97:Very comfortable and a lovely breakfast. Staff very pleasant.

Review 98:Room small and somewhat dated. Shower small and a bit weak.

Review 99:Not a characterless box with anonymous staff as one normally gets as a business traveller when using the 'normal' modern business hotel. Food and service were excellent A 'real' pint of beer, served well Lounge or bar areas, as you feel fit. If you don't want to eat/drink in the hotel, there are numerous pubs and good restaurants within just a few yards.

Review 100:The room was shabby and not especially clean. There was a lot of noise from other rooms. The bed was not comfortable. The wifi was incredibly slow. It was quicker to use my mobile phone. I left behind a phone charger and hair brush, and called the hotel to advise a couple of hours later. They claim they've not been found, when I know I left them in the room. Staff were not interested in helping track them down.

Review 101:Good bar downstairs. Easy to get parked

Review 102:Some of the rooms above the bar area can be noisy with people siting outside but, that can't be helped.

Review 103:The Swan is a very traditional hotel which hasn't been ruined by tasteless modernisation. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff excellent.

Review 104:Loud snoring coming from the room next door!

Review 105:Warm welcome. 3rd floor room was a little small with the extra bed in it but was fine for one night. Extra bed was a very comfy raised airbed - our 4-year old was very happy. Good shower and effective extractor fan (makes a nice change!). Didn't use the bar or the restaurant on this occasion, but both looked inviting.

Review 106:Good restaurant with just the right pace of meal, excellent last minute change of plans to this hotel still meant we had a great weekend. And no problems with the dogs for the group. Smoothest booking in process for the whole group and really great attentive staff at the bar. Helped us surprise our guest with a birthday cake and sparkler!

Review 107:Very noisy in evening Poor Wi Fi/Internet Rooms dated Blankets & Sheets instead of duvet Limited Parking Spaces View from our staff is, good for 1 night but that's enough! Unfortunately wouldn't be their first choice of hotel in MK

Review 108:Breakfast was good Rooms Clean Good rates

Review 109:Car park at rear not obvious nor signposted + limited spots. Is larger pay-display alternative, on-street etc too, so acceptable Outside their control but the weekly bell ringers practice at church next door is only great if you are into that sort of thing otherwise what a racket! (a few hours long stopping by 10ish)

Review 110:Good evening meals and breakfast Great central location onsite parking Everything worked and plenty of hot water + working plumbing :) Pleasant efficient crew running the place Overall enjoyed the stay & will go there again

Review 111:Not been able to sleep till 1.00 am because of noise from the bar outside below The worst night I have ever had in a hotel left after one night.

Review 112:The attitude of the Owner with my complaint but it did spoil my weekend because I could not find alternative accommodation and had to return home and I lost a days visit to Silverstone because I had a three day ticket.

Review 113:Location for Milton Keynes isn't good unless you have your own transport or are happy to pay for a taxi.

Review 114:Very well renovated hotel, good value and Newport Pagnell has picturesque countryside walks on hand.

Review 115:Our room was very hot with only one postage stamp sized window. The mattress had no support and was very old and uncomfortable. The lift only went to the 2nd floor which meant we still had to cart luggage down a flight of stairs and then up two flights to our top floor room (not that uncommon in these old buildings)

Review 116:Location, excellent restaurant and pub.

Review 117:It was very warm in my room and opening the small window did not help things much. Sleeping therefor was a bit difficult

Review 118:The nice English atmosphere of the hotel

Review 119:Reasonably close to Milton Keynes. Food excellent. Bedroom large and very comfortable. Pleasantly quiet during the night (Tuesday) despite being at the front of the hotel on the High Street. Friendly staff. Good wifi signal in the bedroom.

Review 120:The Corridor-Maze

Review 121:Good breakfast

Review 122:Very helpful staff, good food (excellent breakfast especially

Review 123:Wash sink was in the same room as bed

Review 124:High street location Breakfast was fab

Review 125:The breakfast

Review 126:Needs new window frames in the room we had the cold air flooded in.

Review 127:Staff were excellent, very helpful and professional.

Review 128:The staff and services were excellent

Review 129:Bathroom was in need of TLC - clean but "tired"

Review 130:Friendly staff Lovely building in a classic high street

Review 131:Lovely room and restaurant staff and others very friendly

Review 132:The friendliness and expertise of the staff. The cuisine was excellent, and bedroom had been upgraded.
