Reviews for Lahinch Golf & Leisure Hotel
Review 1:Late check in... Then a 12 check out.. With high tide at 11 we had to check out before surfing (which sort of defeated the purpose of staying there) also had to wait around to get a room after a long drive from Dublin... With the booking site you get to request an early check in but that is not something they actually offer...
Review 2:Location was perfect for Surfing and for local pubs and restaurants. Pool also made it easier to keep the young one entertained!
Review 3:The hotel was uncomfortably hot for the entire trip. It was extremely stuffy to the point that we both felt ill. We stayed on the Bank Holiday weekend in October so the weather was not warm. We were speaking to other guests who felt the same and who also felt ill. The Windows in the room were open for the 2 nights/3days and the radiator was turned off on our arrival, it was still extremely uncomfortable. The facilities are poor- the room was far from deluxe and the pool was like a gym pool, nothing luxurious or 4 star about it! We went off for the morning to arrive back to the hotel at 3pm and our room had still not been cleaned, this is unacceptable as we had to ring and ask for towels (we were short because we had to use them at the pool too!). Rooms are basic and the cleanliness was average with the decorative cushions/throws being dirty. Bathroom average and was clean. This hotel is by no means a four star hotel in any way, shape or form and after paying €250 for two nights we expected much more. I believe the hotel was only opened at the weekends during the Autum and maybe lack of air circulating during the week for a number of months explains the stuffiness but guests being uncomfortable and even feeling ill is unacceptable!
Review 4:Location Breakfast was nice but again it was too stuffy to sit there and eat it!
Review 5:There was nothin I did not like about my experience.
Review 6:The parking available. The location right next to the beach. The staff were very friendly and moved us from twin room to double with no trouble.
Review 7:We didn't avail of the swimming pool but we did sneak a peak through the window and it looked a little grubby, the hotel itself is huge and quiet hard to navigate around. Overall there wasn't anything major.
Review 8:The room was so big, we got a fright when we came in we we weren't expecting to have a massive bedroom with a double and a single as well as an adjoining room with a kitchen and seating area. Great location only a 10 minute drive from the cliffs and a 2 minute walk to the beach.
Review 9:I suffer from arthritis and the mattress and pillows were too hard. We've stayed twice before in a different room and the bed was more comfortable. Whilst hygiene in general was good, the net curtains all over the hotel needed to be washed (stayed in September).
Review 10:Prime location, plenty of free parking, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast, ease of online booking. Upgrade to a one-bedroom suite was a welcome bonus - the facilities were excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 11:the friendliness of all the staff . the cleanness of all the departments ,restraint, bed room, bath room swimming pool .could not find fault.the food was lovely and nothing was any trouble.
Review 12:Rooms where very noisy we were on ground floor the noises from the room above us were as if someone was dragging beds over the floor.
Review 13:Very friendly staff with excellent food, breakfast was amazing with great selection.
Review 14:Reception staff went above and beyond accommodating our group, and our specific needs. They helped to organise our surprise, upgraded all our group into shared suites. Jamesy was very helpful at breakfast
Review 15:Poor welcome .basic facilities not 4,star quality .awful net curtains every where discoloued ,carpets stained in room 417,on check out after 3 nights stay no enquires as to wheather we enjoyed our stay .just axlck of interest
Review 16:Good location
Review 17:The hotel lacked a feeling that you were in a hotel- the restaurant was always empty, so was the bar, and when we came to look for the breakfast, there was no one else around, no cooking going on, no staff to ask- another guest even joked we are left to fend for ourselves. It felt like a serviced apartment block. That was fine in the end, but if it were not in a great location with a Spar next door for breakfast and lots of restaurants around the town for dinner, it would have been an issue. Also, we found the Reception staff not very friendly. Our room came with a hob for cooking, though there were no cooking pots or anything. When we asked receptionist, she was not even aware what the room looked like as said there was no hob. I suppose it was disconnected but never removed?
Review 18:The location and leisure facilities were great. The staff in the gym/pool were really helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and spacious. Extra pillows etc. Rooms were very clean. Would recommend to a family or to groups as interconnecting rooms great.
Review 19:We were awoken by fire alarm at 4 in the morning went to lobby and both doors were locked. They say they are locked for security but should be released by fire alarm. Very frightening to be locked in a building with a fire. No one informed us was it safe to go back to the room. Very expensive for the two nights we were there. We wanted to travel to the Arran Mor but were too exhausted from the trauma the night before.
Review 20:The rooms were spacious.
Review 21:Room & hotel exterior and interior could really do with a face lift! I really wouldn't rate it 4* compared to other places I have stayed. Booked one bed suite as travelling with baby and needed kitchen facilities for bottle making and sterilising. Found it strange that there were no tea towels, dish cloths or washing up liquid etc in kitchen! Room and kitchen/living area clean, bathroom not so clean. Hairs on floor and in Bath :-( Even after room serviced on second day of our stay they were still there! Carpets in corridors stained. One large part of wall in bedroom & living area covered in what looks like pencil scribbles from a child which is really dirty looking. Child's handprint on Wall of kitchen. Booked for husbands birthday and was also our first family holiday so a little disappointed it wasn't perfect which is what you should get for 4* prices! Sorry to say won't be back!
Review 22:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking great-lots of it! Bed comfy.Breakfast yummy-nicest I've had in a long time in hotel-great selection too.
Review 23:Good service and standards in a Friendly relaxed athmosphere. Near seafront for walk. Good bar and restsurant in hotel but also other options within short walk. Good location for visiting local attractions.
Review 24:The bar food was very low standard the Chowder was almost cold and even though we were residents when we went to the bar with our fellow guests at 9.30pm the chap was vacuuming and we were unable to get a pot of tea or coffee without a wait of 20 minutes.
Review 25:Bedroom was comfortable and the female staff were very helpful and breakfast was enjoyable. A better and more speedy toaster would be helpful. A bonus was the parking facility.
Review 26:The meal in the restaurant was cold. the pool area was not so big as we hoped. there was to much people and it was very loud.
Review 27:the staff was very nice.
Review 28:Service in the bar often slow and sometimes no staff behind the bar
Review 29:A little hiccup with our booking but Ruth on reception was very helpful in resolving the matter.A group of 10 family members stayed in the apartments clean very spacious and comfortable. Food in hotel was excellent, breakfast room very busy.Kids loved the pool. Staff friendly and helpful Denise and Ruth especially. Would definitely recommend it
Review 30:Arrived in the evening to find out our booked room was given away to another guest. The management were appalling in their handling of the situation, quoting that the T&C's enabled them to give away a room after a certain point in time if the booked party hasn't arrived. On request of the T&C's management were unable to produce them which highlighted how much of a sham operation this hotel is running. Will never book with this place again.
Review 31:the so called self catering in the deluxe double suite isn"t great, no cooking facilities, nothing provided to wash up or dry dishes.when you stay a couple of nights who wants to take washing up liquid and dishcloths with them. its a disappointment that breakfast isn"t included in the over inflated price. The bar needs serious re decorating and avoid the Guinness its like water especially since the young barmen pulled it in one go.
Review 32:It was clean, the beds were very comfortable and the staff were pleasant and helpful.
Review 33:Soup was cold , had to get it reheated. Reception - not as friendly and welcoming as other staff in hotel.
Review 34:Room was lovely and very clean. Service in the Bar for food, very polite,
Review 35:The gym/pool/jacuzzi needs a serious investment . Myself and my boyfriend are into our fitness and it was hard to train with the facilities! You need a new sauna and steam room. About a 2-3inch gap from the the glass door so all the steam etc is escaping. Also the changing of the car park Code was annoying but that's just a minor thing. Handy if a card was available that would do for the trip
Review 36:Location is ideal. One of the nicest breakfasts I've got! Buffet and all! Room was clean Room perfect temp
Review 37:Hotel is not near the golf course. It's in the town. Loads of stag and hen parties. Kids were woken up during the night by drunken people
Review 38:Main room was nice, near the beach.
Review 39:The rooms were old fashioned, bathroom old fashioned. the entrance to the hotel terrible, foyer small, only few places to sit. How it can be a 4 star beats me.
Review 40:Nothing
Review 41:Place has alot of potential but needs sprucing up. We were staying in a deluxe twin. Walls needed painting, curtains poor, felt very drape. If your staying in a deluxe room it needs to be that.
Review 42:Location very good, staff very nice and friendly. Breakfast very nice.
Review 43:All bar and restaurant staff were inexperienced and therefore inefficient. The hotel owners are cutting corners by employing nothing but kids in key roles and the service is non-existent. Very poor value for money.
Review 44:Hotel is in good location
Review 45:The bathroom in our room was very dated, not nice at all and shower was very low, not catering for tall people
Review 46:The location was great. Very close to shops and restaurants
Review 47:Breakfast a bit disorganised, one guy taking the tea and coffee orders for the whole room...too many people for him. A couple of the table resetters could have helped now and again.
Review 48:Great location, good rooms and friendly staff.
Review 49:on arrival my booking could not be found which was very worrying when eventually found we were sent to a very smelly room had to go back to reception to get another room. rooms were very small with no view .Staff at reception were more interested in talking to each other than customers .
Review 50:The room was VERY small (double) and very basic. Not much room around the bed my room at home is much bigger!! Disappointing for an expensive hotel when you want to feel like you're on holidays and staying in a hotel for a treat. Very basic room.
Review 51:The location was great. Breakfast and leisure centre were lovely.
Review 52:The room was a little poor, old bathroom and bed was ok.cleaniness and staff very good so no need to complain
Review 53:The location of the hotel.right beside the beach.breakfast was nice.stayed in old wing of building,ok but expensive at 119 euro
Review 54:The Wifi was not working most of the time we were there. We needed it to plan our trip more than anything.
Review 55:Great location to walk the town and close to the beach. Also, great restaurants
Review 56:Hygiene leaves a lot to be desired up to now I have had no reply from the manager after sending two emails re Cleanliness a big issue .... Uncomfortable beds also
Review 57:Reception staff as we had a lot of complaints were helpful on the Thursday ..... Breakfast was ok Location very good
Review 58:Each time we used the bathroom and flushed the toilet there was a very loud noise this also applied when other guests used their bathroom also we could hear the same noise. Very annoying
Review 59:Convenient walking distance to the beach
Review 60:The noise. I was on a ground floor room and the noise from outside on the first night and what sounded like someone working on the elevator very early the second morning... Also the bathrooms very small - no vanity space in either room.
Review 61:The staff were very accommodating and upgraded my room on request. the location is so central in Lahinch.
Review 62:Maintenance issues with room - water pressure in shower, telephone didn't work, WiFi poor, 2 Fire Alarms in 3 days, Television very old - analogue - not working properly, no towel rails in bathroom.
Review 63:Location
Review 64:Wifi was disgraceful, full reception but intermittent connection, couldn't watch a youtube video in peace as it wouldn't load. Also a false alarm fire alarm woke us up at 4 am but that's not their fault.
Review 65:Location near the beach.
Review 66:dead flowers on dining table, bed pillows hard and uncomfortable, bathroom door stuck closed, insufficient tea sugar etc.no air conditioning, had to leave windows open very. Noisy car oar
Review 67:Not a lot
Review 68:Restaurant was dreadful. 3 of our party of 4 sent back their food. Bathroom: There was no shelf (apart from the toilet cover) to put shaving or cosmetic articles. Everything had to go on the floor. We would also have loved to "help the environment" but there were no rails or hooks to hang up wet towels. The bathroom is a pure puzzle to me and the other guests.
Review 69:I think the 200 odd euro we paid should have included breakfast. Our children are young and it wouldn't cost s fortune to give them a breakfast for the money we paid.
Review 70:Staff were very helpful, the geography of the building is very complicated initially so extra signage might help, especially your older clientele some of whom were bewildered at the way around.
Review 71:Lack of management! Left jacket in bar overnight, gone following morning! Food average, menue never changed.
Review 72:Location. Staff pretty good under the circumstances.
Review 73:Would need A/C in bedrooms. Name gives impression they are linked to the famous Lahinch Golf Course
Review 74:Hotel very good overall, staff very friendly and food good
Review 75:Very dated interior. Rated as 4 star on-line? It should be a 2 star. Very musty smell in the bedroom had to keep the window open all night. Bathroom shabby and grimy.
Review 76:When we arrived, we were told we got a free upgrade to a one bed suite. It was such an unexpected surprise, we were thrilled. Location is perfect, the room/ suite was amazing. So happy with everything. Have stayed there before and will definitely be back :)
Review 77:The hotel is amazing, the rooms are beautiful and so comfortable! I've stayed in lahinch many, many times but this was my first time staying in lahinch golf and leisure hotel and I would most definitely stay again! The staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. The food is delicious! We didn't want to leave☺
Review 78:Didn't think much of it for a 4* star hotel, rooms were basic, bathrooms were worse very outdated, had no shelf or anywhere to leave things. There wasnt even a place to hang hand towel. Was just left on top of toilet when we landed. Staff in bar weren't attentive and reception didnt tell us breakfast times when checking in even though breakfast was included. When we rang next morning to check time, reception had to go check what time it was finished. Not very informed. Won't be returning, for the price there are a lot more hotels which offer 4* rooms and facilities.
Review 79:Rrveption staff were brisk and unfriendly. The hotel and pool were very busy and had no locks for the lockers. It was all a bit basic . There was a storm and the beach was untouchable with huge waves perhaps in good weather would be nicer
Review 80:Breakfast was good but the toasters were appalling
Review 81:Room too far away to get the free wifi but was not too much bother as kids played cards and watched tv
Review 82:Staff friendly and helpful the location was excellent, we stayed in one bedroom suite it was spotless and free parking was super as hotel in centre of town
Review 83:We arrived at 3:30 pm. And had to wait after a three hour drive for our bedroom. Then told there was 7 people ahead of us. Finally got key and went to room to find there was already people in that room.
Review 84:Location and breakfast.
Review 85:Friendly staff very helpful. A simple mistake was made at the time of booking..I wanted a double and single bed but didn't state this..it was quickly corrected thankfully.
Review 86:The pool isn't suitable for kids under 10 as it has no shallow end, changing rooms very unclean. Food in the restaurant just ok, ordered medium rare steak and got well done veg and soup was plated for along time befor we got it.
Review 87:The room was excellent, very spacious and clean, full beds for the kids. Hotel in general is clean and tidy and the staff are nice. Great car park facilities. It was a great base for us.
Review 88:Although they advertised no children in the pool after 7, there were children there at 8pm playing with a beach ball in the centre of the pool, which was annoying if you wanted to do lengths in comfort. Also we were advised that the breakfast area would be busy from 9:30, the pool opens at 9, leaving little chance for a swim before breakfast.
Review 89:This hotel is in a great location, just off the Main Street and a 2 minute walk to the beach. The pool area is ok, nothing major but the water was nice and warm.
Review 90:I think the breakfast could be better. Things like hams and cheeses could be included and loose fresh fruit.
Review 91:I liked the friendly and helpful staff and the comfortable room and facilities (Jacuzzi, sauna etc.)
Review 92:room was dirty walls all dirty marks .hot tub only worked fro 10 mins and then you had to wait for ten minutes or more before it started again.floor around pool area was very slippy.
Review 93:From the moment we arrived the staff were superb. So helpful and friendly. The kids loved the pool and the staff there were very kind. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
Review 94:Unfriendly staff, quite unhelpful and made the welcome sound more like a giving out session. Very small bathroom with broken bath and toilet lid. After travelling Ireland this summer and staying in 3, 4 and 5 star hotels, this hotel is just not up to standard of a 4 star hotel at all.
Review 95:Tv rte1 frozen, light over sink not working, window not closing properlycaused draught, residents took keys of lockers in pool area so nolockers available need a better system, no shampoo in showers in pool
Review 96:Location,pool, room.
Review 97:Value for money was a little bit off. The hotel is a little bit shabby in appearance. The shower head in the room was pretty bad, and the shower curtain was a bit smelly.
Review 98:Location, facilities and the rooms were good. The hotel offered all basic amenities and combined with its excellent location it is worth a visit.
Review 99:Restaurant food was better than bar food.... Steak was low quality in bar.... But everything else was fine.
Review 100:Excellent staff, from Reception to Restaurant to Pool. Professional, friendly and courteous ...even with difficult visitors.
Review 101:overall the hotel was in need of updating and refurbishment. Worn, tired carpets on corridors and in bar. The bathroom was small and the room was very stuffy even with the window open. Breakfast was ok but we had dinner in the bar and it was very poor more like a ready meal from the supermarket . I noticed a lot of families which surprised me as there is no outside space or gardens for children. There is a pool but its not exclusively for hotel guests. Lahinch is a haven for golfers and surfers but has little else to offer holidaymakers.
Review 102:The staff were very pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices.
Review 103:Hotel dinner bland and unimaginative. A shame because the small dining area was bright and enjoyed nice views.
Review 104:Comfortable bedroom with partial sea view. Public areas were well appointed and clean.
Review 105:No wifi coverage, really not a major prob as on holiday. Wifi was available in reception area when needed
Review 106:Family room ideal for those travelling together and able to stay in one area with separate bedrooms but communal living area. Fantastic value for money
Review 107:This was my 5th time to stay in this hotel and each time we leave we can't wait to go back. Ideal location, spacious rooms, lovely staff that can't do enough to help. We love it and will return again before the year is out
Review 108:I think the owner/manager have taken their eye of the ball. The Customer service was poor to average overall. When we booked in we got no information about the hotel. The residents bar closed at 1am and we actually missed it when we came in at 1.10am after been in a local bar. In the past it was open a lot later. The swimming pool showers were not working properly. Two out of three were broken. There was also no key for the lockers. The Wifi only worked in parts of the hotel. I heard other people complain about this. All things that could be fixed easily.
Review 109:Overall, It is a great hotel in a fab location. Free parking, Free Wifi etc. It is a very clean hotel and the rooms are nice. I have stayed here many times before but I was very disappointed with a few things this time.
Review 110:Walls in bed rooms were paper thin we could hear everything from next door(people very having special cuddles....We could hear it all!!!! Not very pleasent) and upstairs. No wifi in our room.
Review 111:Staff were very friendly location was very good
Review 112:Breakfast Room was very small for the size of hotel and you had to time it right (before 0930) otherwise you would be standing around for up to 15mins
Review 113:Location was perfect , car park brilliant with plenty of spaces. Hotel easy to find, staff fantastic and facilities very good , hot tub sauna after a days biking and hiking welcome followed by the black stuff.
Review 114:no wifi from our room at all.
Review 115:Helpful staff comfortable rooms excellent food good location for traveling around. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
Review 116:The wi-fi was very poor.
Review 117:We enjoyed having lots of space - we stayed in the two bedroom suite. The beds were comfy. The location was excellent, in town, near nice restaurants, bars and the sea.
Review 118:It is a pity that the quality of Dinner in the Hotel is not better. Had dinner on our first night and it was very poor to say the least.
Review 119:Great location to visit the sights of Clare including Cliff of Moher,Aillwee Caves and the Burren.
Review 120:Lots of odd little things. Need to ring reception every time u leave car park for a new code. Poor shower and a disabled shower that had a shower curtain that was incredibly difficult to close and an overcomplicated shower. Odd kitchen. Gym had no mats. Breakfast had to be pre ordered.
Review 121:Large rooms
Review 122:The shower wasn't great, the pressure came and went.
Review 123:very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely lounge areas for relaxing in. good hairdryer in room. We had a suite it was very spacious and bedrooms are really nice. We ate in the sun room, set menu very good and great value. Also had bar food and it was very good as well.
Review 124:No bad experience whatsoever
Review 125:Really enjoyed our stay for our 4th wedding anniversary really relaxed and everything amazing during our stay thank you so much for everything would really love to stay again
Review 126:The facilities are basic yet sufficient. The staff is very friendly.
Review 127:The two-bedroom unit was very spacious and allowed for privacy and was great for those with different sleep schedules.
Review 128:Room look dated and had scuff marks on the walls, bed wasn't very comfortable.
Review 129:Good breakfast, staff friendly and helpful, good location in the town.
Review 130:The bedroom was quiet stuffy although we had the windows open they would only open a small amount, that was the only complaint after the weekend, otherwise it was perfect
Review 131:The staff were lovely, the location was perfect, the breakfast was delicious and a brilliant selection of food, beds were very comfortable, overall really enjoyed our stay
Review 132:Bit noisy outside in the morning - I think there was a Bottle bank in the car park & every pub was offloading their empty bottles at 8.30am!! But not the hotels fault.
Review 133:Room was spacious and location was great. Breakfast was very busy at 10am but we were warned of this and the staff did a great job in getting people seated.
Review 134:Some facilities in the leisure area are on timers, having to wait 10 minutes for the jacuzzi or steam room to start.
Review 135:The hotel is central to all sites of interest to this area.
