Reviews for Art Hotel Debono
Review 1:The food was average The bed was very hard and so was the pillows
Review 2:The staff were wonderful The pool was great ans so were the cocktails The hotel was very clean We had a late flight but the hotel let us shower and tidy ourselves up before we flew out at 10pm
Review 3:Nothing bad to say about the hotel. The local town of Gouvia and beach hasn't much to recommend it, however it grew on us by the end of the holiday mainly due to the friendly locals. Good news is that the town of Corfu is an easy 15 minute bus journey. Corfu old town is excellent for shopping, pubs, sightseeing and restaurants. We loved it.
Review 4:10 out of 10 for the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bedroom and bathroom were modern and tastefully decorated. The AC worked perfectly. Breakfast was excellent. Pool area was lovely and staff exceptional.
Review 5:The road to the hotel is a bit dangerous for pedestrians ; not that the hotel could do anything to help it .... ; dining buffet is so-so.
Review 6:Great value ; staff was generally very friendly and professional (we really had a lot of complimentary drinks ; we had an issue with A/C which was greatly handled by the staff) ; Great pool and gardens ; Very beautiful rooms.
Review 7:The staff bent over backwards to help get us to the marina for our sailing charter. Upon returning from our sail, even though we were no longer staying with them, they let us use their WiFi. The facility, pool and restaurant, along with the ambience make for a worthwhile stay.
Review 8:The service at this hotel is second to none, and the service with a smile is so welcoming. We would definitely recommend Art Debono Hotel for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The hotel is within walking distance to the local Gouvia village with an abundance of shops, restaurants, a small beach and wonderful friendly people. 15 minute driving distance to Corfu Town and Corfu airport makes this location perfect.
Review 9:Wifi!
Review 10:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was varied and tasty. Tourists resting in the hotel were quiet and pleasant.
Review 11:Everything about this hotel is 1st class. The location is superb as you are close to the airport and Corfu town but still in a lovely area of Gouvia. The staff are all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We have stayed here 3 times now and we get treated so well from the owner sorting out a rental car to leaving flowers, fruit and chocolates in our delightful room. The hotel is spotless and the beds and bathrooms in the rooms are splendid. We stayed on and bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was superb with a great variety of fresh food and drink. We definitely wouldn't look any further than this hotel when we visit Corfu.
Review 12:nothing
Review 13:we loved everything about the hotel but the best thing was the staff. So friendly, really lovely and would do anything to help you to make the best of your stay. Beautiful room and bathroom with a really good sized balcony. we only stayed b&b so can't comment on evening meals but the breakfasts were lovely. I don't eat meat but still had plenty of choice. The pool was fab.
Review 14:Beach at Gouvia not very good. Buffet evening meal was a bit of a hit and miss.
Review 15:Staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.Breakfast was very good. The hotel was better than expected and we would defiantly recommend it.
Review 16:Rather bothersome walk to the beach and restaurants - only 10 minutes however on a street with quite intense traffic and no sidewalk. Breakfast below expectations for a 4 star - not many choices and no variation during our 10 days stay. Rattle from breakfast woke us several mornings. Newer towels in the room would be nice.
Review 17:Nicely decorated room, clean, with plenty of storage space for a longer stay. Very nice pool area, with friendly staff attending during the day - you can spend your day by the pool and have the choice of getting a ten or napping in thick shadow. Wifi by the pool is a plus.
Review 18:Loved everything about our stay! All the staff are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They really looked after us so well especially the receptionists Helena and Karmela who arranged accommodation for us until our late evening flight home and the lady running the pool bar who kept us well hydrated! Thanks to everyone there!
Review 19:Noisy road traffic. Gouvia is a dump.
Review 20:Very convenient stopover to/from Corfu airport. Very well equipped and furnished room. Large comfortable bed. Very clean. Insect screen on the patio doors in the bedroom was very welcome. Excellent service from staff.
Review 21:Extra sunbeds in pool area would be good - especially in busy periods.
Review 22:Well appointed hotel with lovely spacious bedrooms. Staff very helpful and pleasant.
Review 23:Wifi strength was a little inconsistent.
Review 24:Ok so normally we do 5 star hotels but went for cheaper this summer. I have to say the only thing we missed was a gym. The hotel it seems has been recently refurbished so felt like a 5 star. Pool area was small but a perfect setting for chilling. Gouvia marina was best for food as well as Corfu Town so you definitely need a car. Special mention for Helena at reception she could not have been any more helpful.
Review 25:Location of the hotel is on a road with no pavement, not a problem just when walking back at night can be a little worrying.
Review 26:Rooms were an excellent size, very modern and comfortable. All staff were incredibly helpful. The cleanliness of the rooms are kept to the highest standards.
Review 27:As mentioned in past reviews it is up the hill from Gouvia so requires a short walk down a semi busy road which is poorly lit and has no footpath, which is a pity. Spoke to the staff and the hotel was prepared to pay for extra lighting and footpaths but this is Greece and fighting with the council. If you have smaller kids this could be a concern. If you have a car then you have heaps of parking. When we first checked in, the hotel was busy and our Junior Suite was 223 so the Garden View of our very large balcony was of the kitchen roof, but the staff moved us to a new room the next day once there was room which was lovely (117). So just watch that.
Review 28:Hotel is modern renovated recently so a true four star hotel, especially for Greek standards - really liked the rooms. Breakfast is good. Staff very helpful. Gouvia is a short walk away but you are not stuck in the middle of the town so quieter. I would say a very good hotel as modern standard. Staff helped us with activities. Bus stop is down road which connects you to the Island. They also arranged a car for the day which was delivered. Pool is quite nice and has a spa which is not heated but no need in the heat.
Review 29:The wifi was sketchy and dropped out often and the dinner buffet was very ordinary
Review 30:The hotel staff were very friendly, it was very clean and comfortable with nice rooms and family friendly with a good pool for relaxing in the sun
Review 31:We paid for a junior suite expecting a deprecate lounge area - we didn't get this the room for me was lively but didn't meet junior suite expectations
Review 32:The hotel staff, location and facilities were excellent - it is 300 metres out of Gouvia but you do need to walk along a main road (take a torch if walking back at night) to reach it - supermarket not far
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:We stayed at this hotel for our 23rd wedding anniversary.. We loved everything about the hotel, couldn't fault it at all. A lovely surprise of wine, chocs and flowers were waiting for us on our return from a day out. Thanks to all the hotel staff for making our wedding anniversary celebration very special .
Review 35:Everything was great the little additions including the flowers and fruit bowl on arrival. The food was great the room was comfortable the area was quiet. room was spotless and air con worked really well.
Review 36:Very nice hotel, room very big newly refurbished. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We went there to celebrate our first year weddind anniversary and we found in our room a nice bowl of fresh fruits and flowers. We are definitely going back there as soon as we can.
Review 37:Cant think of a single thing! Great hotel!
Review 38:The size of the hotel was perfect- could always get a bed by the pool and it was never crowded. The room (junior suite) was huge and tastefully done - as was the rest of the hotel. We didn't eat dinner there but the buffet breakfast was great -huge selection of food! The staff were very helpful and willing.
Review 39:the only thing that is sometimes missing during our stay in the hotel Debono is weak WiFi signal in the room, while in the lobby of the hotel was excellent but believe me it is so insignificant matter compared with what this hotel provides.
Review 40:Hotel is beautiful Everything in it is fantastic Starting from the beautifully designed, clean and quiet room, pool, breakfast every morning was different and very tasty, staff who do not notice but still there when you need it Staying in this hotel we definitely embellished holiday in Corfu and we will certainly be happy to go back to the hotel Debono.
Review 41:The only downside to the hotel is that it is on a busy, side road with no pavements to walk on and only partly lit at night. You had to be very careful walking up and down this road during the day and night.
Review 42:The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel itself was everything we had read about and more though Gouvia centre itself was disappointing. The location was good for getting the local buses to see more of Corfu. The centre of Gouvia is a 10 minute walk in one direction and the marina area a 10 minute walk in the other. The marina area is really nice.
Review 43:Gouvia is a little boring in October as everything is shutting down, no-one informed us of this before booking
Review 44:The staff and the quality of the hotel
Review 45:Very cooperative and friendly staff and the rooms were a delight, comfy and quiet.
Review 46:bit steep to entrance of hotel but exercise is good for you
Review 47:liked everthing
Review 48:Only bad point was the road to the hotel had no pavement
Review 49:Hotel was very nice & clean & pool was stunning, staff very friendly
Review 50:walking to the town on the road at night was a bit risky as there was no path
Review 51:just perfect
Review 52:we had a strange smell in the bathroom after the first day but it didn't bother me too much
Review 53:Everything about the place was pretty much excellent
Review 54:Very friendly and professional staff. Beautifull hotel, nice rooms, great food. Relaxing atmosphere and just walking distance to Gouvia.
Review 55:Nout!
Review 56:Hotel was excellent with very friendly and helpful staff. Pool area was truly fantastic
Review 57:Service was excellent and hotel and pool were immaculate. Breakfast choice was huge and great quality.
Review 58:Everything
Review 59:Modern, clean, helpful reception staff. The hotel feels like a 5 star resort, very well done out but it and has the benefits of a small resort.
Review 60:Nothing about the hotel specifically.
Review 61:The hotel complex is of high quality..the reception area and lounge area are spotlessly clean and very relaxing.
Review 62:Really nice location - close to the beach and different venues, but in the same time - quiet and peaceful.
Review 63:Hotel is located on a quite busy road which does not have a footpath and is about 10 minutes from the centre of Gouvia. Wi-Fi is available but signal is not great.
Review 64:Staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Hotel is like new and kept in spotless condition. Great breakfast and excellent value dinner buffet €12. Vey nice pool area and Jacuzzi with fantastic service for drinks and light meals.
Review 65:I personally didn't think the food was that great but that's just a my opinion. Not many different options but as it isn't a massive hotel this is to be expected. I was only there for 4 days and ate out for 2 of those despite being on a half board basis
Review 66:Good size room, very friendly staff., especially the lovely lady on duty at the outside bar area. Just a short walk to the beach and bars in Gouvia. Really easy to get into Corfu town on the bus which only cost 1.50 euros per person 1 way
Review 67:Wi-fi very hit and miss! Road outside hotel is busy and without a pavement, which makes walking into Gouvia (10 minutes) not particularly enjoyable.
Review 68:We stayed at the end of May for a few days, as a last minute holiday and the hotel met our high expectations, based on other reviews. All areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean. Pool area is excellent, with good mix of pools. Nice Jacuzzi area. Comfy sun loungers and plenty of shade if needed. Staff were extremely helpful. Arrived over an hour early and our room was available. We even extended our check-out time on our last day, for a small charge, as we had a late flight home. Room had kettle with tea/coffee. Also a fridge, not a mini-bar, which was good for keeping water cool. French doors had a mosquito screen, which meant we could have a door open and not worry about mosquitoes getting inside. Good choice for breakfast. Evening menu was buffet style, with limited choice for vegetarians. Comfortable lounge area, with large TV and lots of seating. Hotel arranged a taxi back to the airport which arrived within 2 minutes of being asked for, took 10 minutes, and only cost 20 euros!
Review 69:No fault of the hotel but the road to the village has no footpath and is quite busy.
Review 70:Comfortable room with aircon.Good shower and bath.Fab pool area.Helpfull staff.Nice breakfast.Handy for bus to Corfu town.Easy walk to Gouvia village
Review 71:The poor WiFi and dodgy road that the hotel is on, this is a minor flaw though. I would only stay here for bnb if your English or perhaps just room because the food isn't really geared up for us.
Review 72:The views, the room and the ultra helpful staff, the town of Gouvia itself.
Review 73:The Wi-Fi signal in our room (213) could have been better,
Review 74:The hotel is beautifully appointed, the staff are friendly and very efficient. The pool area is really nice and location not too far from Gouvia.
Review 75:My husband and i have just returned from a lovely week at this hotel. it was a spotlessly clean hotel with extremely helpful staff. Gouvia was a short walk away with a variety of bars and restaurants. we would definately return to this hotel in the future. also a big thank you for the wine and flowers that was put in our room on our anniversary.
Review 76:Everything was perfect!
Review 77:The hotel is well located in a quiet area with lots of greenery outside the bustling tourist center of Gouvia. Fifteen minute walk takes you to the the nearby pebble beach and the many restaurants in Gouvia. The ambiance in the hotel is elegant and relaxing. Swimming pool of the hotel and surrounding area are beautiful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is extremely polite.Cleanliness and quality service in the hotel are excellent.
Review 78:The buffet food is good but lacks imagination.
Review 79:The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Rooms are a good size and nicely furnished. every where is very clean and well maintained.
Review 80:There is nothing wrong to mention. Only for the advantage of the hotel they should take some actions in order for people to be able to more easily search and identify the hotel in the internet as it is a very good choice and it does not come up the first 10 choices.
Review 81:Reception staff was excellent and very welcome. The room and in general the hotel is new with very nice design and all the necessary facilities that any guest my require. We will definetely revisit the specific hotel. For sure the service provided met all our expectations
Review 82:Staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. Food quality and wines were also of a high level. Rooms were immaculate and finely furnished. Hotels attention to detail is what really sets them apart. Would definitely recommend.
Review 83:The only thing to mention (which is already mentioned in other reviews as well) is that the road from the hotel to Gouvia centre/beach has no footpath and is quite dark in the evening.
Review 84:We booked the hotel based on the superb rating here on booking.com, and were not disappointed. The hotel was very modern, clean, and exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and extremely helpful when we had questions or needed something. We were very impressed by the facilities provided on our last day when we had to check out before noon, but our flight wasn't till late in the evening: the hotel has a shower room, several very clean toilets, room to change, and room to keep luggage for a day, all free of charge. The breakfast was very good, with a broad range of hot and cold dishes and fresh fruit. The pool bar also served nice food throughout the day. We can't comment on the dinner since we always ate out in Gouvia town centre, which is just a short walk away. We don't agree with some of the comments on this website from other guests that car hire is a must, we did not hire a car and managed just fine. Public transport is only a few minutes walk from the hotel with good connections to Corfu City (2 to 3 buses per hour).
Review 85:Highly recommended.
Review 86:Bledar¶Edlira from Albania. Debono Hotel was the perfect choice. Theatmosphere was, splendid and silentious. The room was very comfortable, very clean, the sea view was wonderful just like was described. Thestuff was exellent and the pool was fantastic. The food was very nicetoo. Everything was at high level. Now we are for some days in a fivestar hotel in Crotia (really very good) but the facilities of Debonowere more comfortable.
Review 87:Nothing noy to like.
Review 88:The staff were first class, genuinly friendly and very helpful. There was good banter between all of the staff, you could tell they liked working there. It was not part of a chain, the service reflected that.
Review 89:My wife andI had an opportunity recently for a short break for ourselves and it was so so good. The hotel was charming in so many ways, tastefully decorated and set up. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and delightful. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, mainly for business, so I can spot easily, those things that make your stay better. It was very convenient for beach and dinner trips. Above all though, it was a combination of the very charming setting, the cleanliness, the charming and helpful staff and again, the overall setting. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the place and will happily return for another visit. Two very delighted and happy guests.
Review 90:The food was OK but not very high class. Sometimes the food in the buffet looked a little old and not very inviting.
Review 91:The staff were very friendly and efficient and they went out of their way to accommodate any requests we had. They made us feel very welcome and our young daughter, particularly, was looked after very well. We would definitely stay again.
Review 92:Pool chairs not so many and struggled to find a free one.
Review 93:Big spacious rooms. Very clean and tidy with free wifi. Lovely pool. Great breakfast. Friendly staff. 10mins from Corfu centre. 20 minutes from awesome Glyfada beach. Excellent hotel. Highly recommended
Review 94:Gouvia itself as a location, although the hotel is situated close to good transport links and we were able to visit other towns and beaches every day.
Review 95:The public areas of the hotel are beautifully furnished, especially the lounge and lobby. Set in lovely gardens, trees and flowers around the pool. Staff very friendly and professional.
Review 96:All good
Review 97:We wanted a smallish family run hotel out of Corfu town but close to the beach and ATM and restaurants. The Debono ticked all the boxes.the staff were excellent, food good and pool very relaxing.we arrived on my Birthday and once they saw this on my passport,I received a large basket of fruit and a bottle of wine, very nice touch.this hotel ticked all our boxes.Bus stop for town is at the bottom of the road.would we use again,MOST Certainly.
Review 98:No real (from beans) coffee at breakfast
Review 99:Good-size bedroom Well-decorated, furnished and finished rooms and public areas Comfortable bed Excellent swimming pool Friendly staff Excellent location for exploring the whole of Corfu by car
Review 100:Short walk to town and supermarket on narrow road with no footpath , car hire helped get around this but buses available 15 mins walk from hotel. However hotel had so much to offer overall this would not deter us from booking hotel again.
Review 101:Staff were excellent, special mention to the receptionists and the waiter Christos for excellent service, friendly banter and tourist information! Junior suite beautiful and view from room 213 was not as had been previously reviewed, it was fine and did not take from our enjoyment of either room/hotel. Housekeeping great, change of linens/towels regular.
Review 102:The hotel is in a magnificent location within 5 minutes walk of thelovely sandy beach and many interesting shops and tavernas of GouviaBeach and 15 minutes walk from the huge Marina of Gouvia. The hotelitself exceeded all expectations and we would recommend it to anyone fora relaxing sunshine holiday. It has recently been renovated to thehighest standards, one of the owners being an architect, and the roomsand communal areas are modern, cool, spacious, airy and extremelycomfortable. The buffet breakfast is excellent with a hug selection ofinteresting food and hot dishes cooked to order. There is a magnificentlarge pool and terrace bar area set amongst beautiful colourful gardens, all very secluded and tranquil. It has a very exclusive 5 star feelabout it. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was even drivento the airport at midnight to collect our luggage which had not arrivedwith us the previous day and which the airline failed to deliver to thehotel as promised. Nothing is too much trouble at this very specialhotel. We shall return!
Review 103:This hotel is unbelievable, you could not fault it. It boasts a brand new interior, and rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. The staff are wonderful, so helpful and friendly. The food is also excellent with fantastic buffets for breakfast and dinner. The pool also has a jacuzzi and childrens pool. 10 out of 10 for this hotel. Would highly recommend and would go back.
Review 104:Room 213 (junior suite) - balcony looked onto the roof of the kitchen
Review 105:Excellent hotel, quality standards to the highest level in staffing and cleanliness. Rooms very comfortable, fresh and airy. Food both at breakfast and evening varied and will suit the majority of people. Staff friendly, helpful and not overbearing. Good base to travel to other parts of Corfu. Easy access for local transport to Corfu Old Town and Dassia.
Review 106:The crew was very welcoming and attentive. The rooms were clean andpooltowels and water heater were available. The hotel is situated in aquiet area. There was a large breakfast buffet. To reach the hotel from the airport, you need to take the way to the center of Corfu (Kerkyra), drive along the coastline and through the triumphal arch of St Michael's Palace. Then, take a right turn to Paleokastriza and at the sixth traffic light, turn left. (you can see a warehouse on the corner)
Review 107:We found the breakfast a bit limited. The cooked food tended to be dried out from being kept heated too long. Also, a car is necessary get about. There is a bus stop five minutes walk from the hotel but the buses are not that frequent, especially at the weekend.
Review 108:Everything about this hotel was wonderful, the room, the pool, the helpful staff. I was holidaying with my two adult daughters and this hotel was just what we needed, quiet, relaxed, clean and modern. We hired a car which gave us easy access to Corfu town and the rest of the island. The hotel is just a short walk from the resort of Gouvia, where there is a nice beach and a good selection of restaurants. If you like a bit of luxury this is the hotel for you.
Review 109:The view from our balcony is facing a roof, so there is nothing to see.
Review 110:The room is spacious with a double bed and two sofas bed. There is also balcony with table and chairs. And I also like the swimming pool as it is located in the middle of a luscious garden.
Review 111:Location needs a vehicle if you want to get to downtown Corfu (7km).
Review 112:Hotel DeBono is one of the best choices to stay while visiting Corfu, combining convenient location, excellent design and great service. The building is very nicely decorated, the room is spacious and clean, the surrounding facilities (pool, terrace, playground) are well-designed and nicely located within the large hotel garden. Definitely worth the 4* stars! The hotel service is on par, very friendly and happy to assist with all the details to get the most out of Corfu - the hotel owners also always present, making sure everything works. Breakfast variety and quality was also excellent. Highly recommended and looking forward to come back!
Review 113:Everything. The place was spotless and the staff were amazing. We felt like we were staying in a brand new hotel. Great location too.
Review 114:everything, they were absoloutly fantastic from the food to the fantastic accomodation :) im coming back soon to stay a little longer

Review 117:Lovely hotel excellent friendly staff.
Review 118:The staff, friendly going out off their way to help. Great hotel new and very clean. Would recommend it to any one.
Review 119:Very quiet and relaxing although travelling with 1 child. Staff were extremely friendly which made our stay very enjoyable.
Review 120:This is a beautiful hotel that is very well maintained. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Review 121:Everything was fantastic, it,s really a super hotel..
