Reviews for Penelope Apartments

Review 1:Dassia is a dump. The beach is small and very crowded. There are three reasonable restaurants on the beach but 20 mins walk away. The rest are all on a busy main road (but La Casa is great).

Review 2:Great little privately owned and run, quiet, apartment complex on a hill away about 5 mins walk from the busy main road. The owner George and Nicholas at the bar were most helpful and friendly. Lovely pool & pool bar/cafe. Spacious air conditioned accomodation with terrace or balcony. Ask for a unit that is not on the path to the pool. Go to la Casa restaurant (bottom of hill) which is excellent. Come here either to chill by the pool or with a car to explore the much nicer parts of Corfu.

Review 3:No bad experiences to report.

Review 4:George, the owner, was brilliant. He gave us a lovely welcome even though our flight was delayed late into the night. I'd mentioned it was our anniversary when booking and he provided us wine flowers and snacks in our room on arrival. The self catering utensils were sparse but it didn't bother us as it was too hot to cook anyway! A fab holiday with magnificent views from our superior apartment balcony. The canopies were handy in the heat too. We didn't eat much at the pool as we tended to eat in the eve down in Dassia Main Street. George also organised car hire for us so we got to travel around this beautiful island too.

Review 5:THE STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL IN EVERY WAY. THE APPT WAS CLEAN AND EVERY THING YOU NEED IN IT. THE POOL WAS THE HIGHLIGHT AND PLENTY OF SUN LOUNGES .THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT TOO .

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:We spent an amazing week at the apartment, rooms are huge and really nicely decorated; the bathroom is big, nice and modern. The balcony is spacious and the view is stunning! The pool and the apartments are kept clean all the time. The wifi reception was very strong everywhere in the apartment as it was improved by George the owner. You can have nice breakfast at the pool any time during the day, Nicos the chef is fantastic! You definitely have to try his musaka, one of the best on the island! George the owner is really nice and helpful, he even gave us a lift to the airport! The apartment is in a perfect location, quiet and really close to everything (town centre). We would definitely recommend to stay there it is worth the price!

Review 8:that we had to return. you need more than just a long weekend to fully enjoy.

Review 9:we had asked for a garden view room but stayed in a sea view one and it is really worth it. next time we'll book such a room as it is value for money.

Review 10:although the bathroom didn't have a window, there is ventilation.

Review 11:mushroom omelette for breakfast; fresh fish cooked for us by niko, the friendly cook, for dinner by the romantic pool.

Review 12:Refrigerator very small, hardly covered the needs for 2 adults and 2 older kids Wifi reception very poor. TV set very small and very bad reception. @ that price (110 €) I would expect (at least) a breakfast to be included.

Review 13:Room space, decoration, view, location, room's natural temperature, (well insulated probably) cleanliness, very nice bathroom, nice pool.

Review 14:I came here with my boyfriend for 10 days and had a great time for what we paid. The food cooked by Niko by the pool is great and affordable. George was really helpful, especially as our flight wasn't until 11pm when we were leaving and he arranged a room for us to have for the day. The appartment is peaceful away from the roads of Dassia. We didn't have a car so didn't do much exploring, so I would definitely chose to have one next time. Overall we had a great stay.

Review 15:Great staff and big rooms with perfect view! It is a good place to stay for a young couple. Near the beach. Greetings to Nikos and George from Holland.

Review 16:Wifi was not accessible from our room but we didn't complain about this to the staff, so I don't know if the issue could have been sold. Similar to many other hotels in this area, it is situated on a small hill and the road back requires some climbing. There is nothing to do in the immediate vecinity, so you'll need at least 10 minutes to get down in Dassia.

Review 17:We had a 2-floor appartement with a lot of space and 2 terraces at a decent price. It was quite easy to reach from Dassia and the road seemed safe at night. The host was very welcoming and the interior garden and pool looked very nice. The air conditioning was powerful enough and really cooled the room.

Review 18:These are very nice appartments with a great service from a very friendly staff. It's located just outside busy Dassia on a quiet location. You walk within 10 minutes to the shops, bars and beach of Dassia.

Review 19:Having visited some of the island, there are probably other places we would choose to stay in over Dassia, but there was nothing to dislike about Penelope Apartments. A wee note, though: it is worth paying extra for a sea-view apartment; the sunsets over Albania's hills were stunning.

Review 20:Great pool, lovely garden - and lemons! - fantastic views and incredibly helpful, friendly staff. Yorgos, the owner, seemed to be available at all times and goes out of his way to deal with any problems. The place was relaxing, well maintained and allowed for easy access by bus to Corfu town. There are well-stocked shops and several car-hire companies within walking distance.

Review 21:Although stated on booking.com, the free Wi-Fi was only available near the reception and the pool and thus not in our apartment. Furthermore, since the location of Penelope offers a nice view over the mountains and the sea, one should take into account that this is accompanied by a rather tough walk up (especially in the afternoon). In addition, a drawback of the location is that while the bustle of Dassia's main road is avoided, this translates into a rather quiet and poorly lit walk to Penelope when it is dark (which may not be ideal for women alone). Regarding the facilities within the apartment, the satellite tv was very very small and only offered three or four channels. Also, the mattresses in the bedroom were very very hard and when showering only hot water was possible when not using the 'shower function' (thus when attachting the showerhead above your head to the wall). Lastly, we regularly were awakened by other guests in the room above and next to us, due to banging doors, moving chairs and children tripping over the floor.

Review 22:We enjoyed our stay at Penelope. The apartment was spacious and clean, everything worked, and provided a lot value for money. The location of the accommodation up on a hill means a nice view over the mountains and the sea. We also had a nice view over the mountains from our balcony. Also, Penelope is located nearby the centre of Dassia (and it's beach), meaning that the centre can be reached in a 10 minutes walk and that the noise and the fuss of the busy main road through Dassia is avoided. Another big plus was that everything worked: the airconditioning (for which there was no need to pay extra!), cooking rings, toaster, electric kettle, safe (free) and so on. Furthermore, the balcony was fairly big and the whole apartment was clean. The pool on the site was also clean and offered free sunbeds and umbrellas around. It was also possible to park one's car or scooter on the Penelope site in front of the reception. In all, Penelope provides a lot value for money and if you are looking for a spacious, clean, airconditioned and calm accomodation, then we recommend you to consider Penelope.

Review 23:Nothing. Only fact that we had to leave back to rainy Finland.

Review 24:What a lovely place! We loved it, it was peaceful and gorgeous place. The pool and the garden full of lemon trees and olive trees and the lovely staff made it a great place to stay. The location is not so hard to find if you turn near Ellin petrol station where the bus drop you and go up near la casa restaurant. George was super helpful and friendly and organised us a taxi to head back at midnight and came to say goodbye. Great hospitality and super service. Located nearby to Dassia so you can walk to the beach. We will come back for sure.

Review 25:everything was pretty good and the view was amazing!

Review 26:Excellent service, lovely place, spacieus appartement with real sea-view over the bay, friendly staff, quiet...

Review 27:Swimpool, clean services every day. amazing view.

Review 28:Great apartment with everything we needed. Lovely swimming pools and friendly staff.

Review 29:The walk up the hill very steep at last bit

Review 30:Excellent sea view

Review 31:There are no comments available for this review

Review 32:George the owner is very friendly and fixed the little problem we had directly.

Review 33:Lovely stay here, great apartments which are large and clean. Great pool with friendly staff. Cannot fault the place

Review 34:a bit far from the beach and the stores and restaurants

Review 35:The swimming pool and the snack bar

Review 36:Leaving and having to go back and live in the UK weather…

Review 37:George, the owner, was very helpful when we planned the trip and really looked after us well during our stay. This location was perfect for us. We wanted to be just out of the hustle and bustle of Dassia town but within walking distance of it and also to the beach front. Only takes 10 mins to walk down to the beach. View from the balcony over the Albanian mountains and coast in the morning was stunning. We loved Corfu and will defiantly return here one day.

Review 38:no breakfast or snacks available

Review 39:I liked the price for my spacious and clean, fully equipped appartment with the wonderful view. Also the pool for an invigorating start to my day ahead.

Review 40:I stayed in a very clean studio with a beautiful view and swam in a very clean pool and the nearby dassia beach at a reasonable price. penelope is quiet but there is nightlife within walking distance.

Review 41:no snacks or breakfast available, but the friendly owner said a restaurant will operate as of next season.

Review 42:all the family enjoyed the clear pool. although we had booked mountain view, from our room we also enjoyed sea and garden view. for all these we found it good value for money.

Review 43:We loved the aspect overlooking the sea and Albania in the distance. The pool and facilities were always spotless. George the owner was very friendly and helpful, contacting us just before we started our holiday to give us his mobile phone details in case we got lost. A great place, and would definitely go back.

Review 44:too small fridge and oven for a family of four no air-condition in the second room too small TV set not enough parking space for the tenants ants and other bugs cats in verandas especially on the ground floor Door locks not secure

Review 45:nice view - sea and mountain large pool - clean water quite

Review 46:Nothing negative. Everything was so nice and comfy..

Review 47:Can highly recommend this place. Everything is very clean and friendly. The owner George is very welcoming and helpfull in every way. We will surely be back. The restaurant La Case at the end of the road is fantastic. Good service and the best from the greek kitchen to affordable prices. Go there! You will not be disapointed

Review 48:Difficult to find.Indications no where no even in front of the hotel. No breakfast, neither meals available nore drinks (bottle of water)

Review 49:The view from the balcony, the swimmimg pools, the quitness

Review 50:- Mattress was way too hard for me, my back hurt every morning. - We heard very load and clear music and even people clapping almost every night, although there was no bar next to the hotel. But then we closed the balcony doors and turned the air-co on, it did not disturb any more, so nothing disturbed our sleeping. - Dassia itself is not very interesting place, just a busy road with hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops on both sides. BUT it is very close to Corfu town, so it is very easy to drive there for a walk in a wonderful warm night :-)

Review 51:Very nice hotel, away from the busy road. A welcoming basket waiting on the kitchen table containing fruits, a bottle of water (tap water is not drinkable in Corfu) and a bottle of very tasty red wine :-) Well equipped kitchen, big bathroom, a lot of towels provided. Clean and not crowded pool, 90cm deep in one end and 260cm in another, also a children pool. Just a short drive (2-3 minutes) to the small local beach which was the best one of all the beaches we visited during our stay - warmer water than on the west coast, does not go deep too suddenly (suitable for children!), stony on the coast, but sandy seafloor. And maximum 20 people there! I recommend Penelope Apartments to everyone and if we happen to go to Corfu again we would stay there again for sure!

Review 52:Although it didn't bother us at all the apartments are on a hill side and as a consequence it may be difficult for a disabled person to access all areas. There are steps up to most of the apartments except a couple so the owner will accommodate you by opening up an extra access gate but you will need to request these ground floor apartments when booking. At the moment there are no refreshments offered at the pool. We are told however that a full food and drink service will be available at the pool for next season. That will make this place perfect.

Review 53:When we arrived the owner (George) personally showed us the apartment in detail. He gave us his mobile telephone number to contact him 24/7 even though he lives on sight and can easily be contacted any time. There were many extras made available to us eg Shower curtain, Fresh flowers on the table for our entire holiday, Hand soap in the bathroom, a free bottle of wine, a free bottle of water and a bowl of fresh fruit on arrival. Air conditioning was made available to us free of charge, Mosquito killers were available should we need them, no charge. The apartment had just been tastefully decorated and was very comfortable with sofas, a bath and shower, refrigerator, Hob and oven with extractor fan, a toaster, ample cupboard space both in the kitchen and bedroom, comfortable beds, dining suite, a television, and ample balcony furniture. There were plenty of extra blankets and pillows in the apartment. The panoramic sea view over Dassia and Gouvia bays were beautiful and we found ourselves sat on the balcony admiring the view at every opportunity. The view also included the swimming pool which is adequately equipped. There is a supermarket, car hire and tavernas within a 5 to 10 minute walk, the beach takes a couple of minutes longer along with an abundance of shops, tavernas, car hire, Doctors and so on. Nothing seams to be too much trouble for George and he is one of the most eager to please types that we have ever met. In summary we would not hesitate in recommending these apartments to anyone and that includes royalty. We enjoyed it so much that we are contemplating going back there next year and holidaying in the same place twice which is something we have never done before.
