Reviews for Aille River Hostel

Review 1:Peggy is a very friendly and helpfull hostess. Our clothes were very wet from our walk but she offered to dry them for us. She made a really good breakfast and everything was clean and tidy. A kind and proud Irish women!

Review 2:I recently visited with our eldest dtr and we had a wonderful time. The facility was great, but noticed, like everywhere these days, the common room was filled with people on their electronics. Too bad conversation was missed due to that. But we enjoyed our visit. Staff was fantastic!

Review 3:a little noisey the next morning (quiet early) as renovations were being carried out , directly outside our window x

Review 4:This Hostel is excellent value for money and the staff were very friendly. It was the perfect location for us as we were attending a wedding directly across the road.Fab little garden x

Review 5:Paiement in cash only.

Review 6:Very nice hostel, well located if you plan on visiting the Cliffs of Moher. Doolin is a charming little town, with nice pubs at a footwalk distance from the hostel.

Review 7:The kitchen was maybe a little cold as the windows were left open for ventilation

Review 8:Wonderful location, close to a pub with great Irish music and on the Cliffs of Moher coastal walk. The girl looking after the hostel was really friendly and helpful

Review 9:Very well-organized, spacious kitchen with room for many guests to cook at the same time. Great cook-your-own breakfast for only 1 1/2 euros. Helpful, friendly staff. Cozy sitting area with fireplace. Quiet.

Review 10:Loved the location. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere so welcoming. A big peat fire burning when we arrived back in the evening and people from all over the world to chat with.

Review 11:Room was much smaller than I expected from the image on the web and booking.com You need to pay extra for towels.

Review 12:Location was great. Close to two really good pubs both offered traditional Irish music and food. Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Review 13:Beautiful location, really close to pubs, restaurants, cliffs of moher, Aran island ferry, etc (short walk to all!), great staff, and very clean and cozy inside! Probably my favorite hostel in Ireland.

Review 14:When full, there might be a problem to get a parking place (considering you are in the country with enough place to park nearby, no big deal).

Review 15:Very nice hostel with attentive staff, well equiped kitchen, free tea and coffee all day. Feels homey. Great location, cosy bar close by. Overal highly recommendable.

Review 16:Having to fry my own egg lol

Review 17:I found the staff extremely friendly and helpful and would defiantly be back to stay here also the residents also staying at the hostel were very nice and welcoming and nice to each really felt like a big family environment considering we only stayed for two days

Review 18:It's a beautiful place, 2 hour walking distance from the cliffs. The harbor connects you with all sorts of scenic ferry tours, there are loads of nice shops and places to eat/drink/listen to music. There was a fire going and you got a nice breakfast for 1.50. Great craic!

Review 19:My son and his wife and 2 kids were cramped in a very small room with 2 bunkbeds and a crib in the middle; I think my room was bigger than theirs.

Review 20:My single room at the top of the facility!

Review 21:We liked the setting by the river and that the four of us could rent a private room and bath. It was also nice to be around other worldwide travelers.

Review 22:I was a bit cold overnight, but the weather had just started to turn cooler after being warm. The staff mentioned that the heating was about to be turned on again for the season, so it was no big deal.

Review 23:Friendly staff, all the facilities you could need to have a comfortable stay.

Review 24:The private room is en-suite, but unfortunately the walls and the door are anything but soundproof. Some sounds one does not want to hear, even from a close friend or partner....need I say more :(

Review 25:My friend hurt her ankle while we were staying in the Aille River Hostel and even though the nearest farmacy is in the next village, the girl at the reception organised for us to get some painkillers. The breakfast was great as well. We enjoyed our stay very much :)

Review 26:Excellent building and atmosphere - great place to stop and enjoy! Located next to some excellent pubs and shops, and the host is incredibly helpful - and fun!

Review 27:Nothing!

Review 28:Everything was awesome! The hostel was clean, the breakfast was very cheap, the bed was very comfortable, the staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 29:There were NO towels in our room though they were included in our booking. We found out that too late to inform the stuff (it was 9PM and reception was closed).

Review 30:Location is really good and there is a big kitchen to fit everyone

Review 31:Great location right off the main road in Dingle and close to the Cliffs of Mohr. Free laundry facility was a bonus for us. We were five adults and rented a private room for six with a private bath. For the money could not beat that.

Review 32:A bit cold duing the day, maybe, because of the weather If you catch a bus to Galway, be prepared to wait and choose "Doolin Hostel" bus stop to be sure

Review 33:Great location (2 hours to the Cliffs of Moher by walking or 15 by bus), great staff and attitude. Very clean inside and beautiful (but windy) outside. If you leave the hostel, go right, than left, in 5-7 minutes on your right there will be a pub with good traditional music, McGanz, or smth like that)

Review 34:There is absolutely nothing about this Hostel that we didn't like☺

Review 35:The stove was lovely and enjoyed sitting with my friends in the night time at yer hostel. Woman in reception was just so nice and very helpful.

Review 36:We flew into Shannon, took a bus to the Cliffs of Moher, and then did the coastal walk to Doolin. This hostel was clean and quaint at the end of our walk. The staff was friendly and gave great pub recommendations with live music.

Review 37:When the weather is cool they burn compressed peat in the cast iron stove. I found the smoke irritating. Small complaint over-all.

Review 38:Very mellow, friendly place. Good value for the money. On the banks of a stream in center of Doolin. Easy access to Cliffs of Mohr, Burren area, etc. Short walk to pubs, good food and music.

Review 39:Even though we were in the basic double, we would have liked a bed lamp, mirror and clothing hooks in the room

Review 40:Good and cheap breakfast, convenient location in Doolin, nice staff

Review 41:Please for the love of God replace the shower heads so you can have running water for a shower. You have to hold a button the whole time which makes a shower impossible, like literally impossible.

Review 42:Great location and cost

Review 43:Had everything you would need for a short stay in Doolin, not far from the main pubs and pier. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and shower while you explore the rest of the day, this is perfect.

Review 44:Bathroom needs hooks on the wall for towels. That's it!

Review 45:The location is within walking distance of everything. Doolin is a charming little place. We dealt mostley with Robert who was very accomodating - even offered his phone so I could call the US and wouldn't let me pay for it. Free laundry and Wi-Fi. I don't remember the name of the other staff member (sorry) but she was a delight as well.

Review 46:Picturesque location in a garden on the banks of a river in the sweet village of Doolin Friendly and personable hosts Cozy sitting room with a warm wood stove to warm up from cold winds on the Cliffs of Moher and a spacious, bright kitchen to prepare meals and share food

Review 47:The location!! Beautiful restaurants within 2minutes walk! Garage and shop near by and the cliffs of mohar was a 10 minute drive with the most spectacular views along the way! Hostel itself was so homely and welcoming and free tea and coffee! Great value for money!! The views from the hostel were amazing! picnic tables outside the hostel by the river :) we cannot wait to go back!

Review 48:The bed was a bit uncomfortable but we used one more blanket and it was ok . Bring your own towels .

Review 49:The location amazing the facility was very comfortable, I highly recommend and very nice and helpful stuf.

Review 50:Doolin tends to be quite quiet during of peek seasons. we found that a lot of shops and restaurants were closed in november.

Review 51:the Aille River hostel was exactly what we were looking for. it was in a great location, where it was quite but still within walking distance of pubs and restaurants. the town of doolin is in a beautiful area, by the sea and right in the middle of the Burren. its less then a 5 minute drive to the cliffs of Moher. The staff were so friendly and helpful. our room was very tidy and was an en suite. it was definitely value for money and i will certainly stay there again

Review 52:There really wasn't anything I didn't like. We rented the family room to give us a bit more space & a private bath since I had 4 in my group.

Review 53:Really cool old farm house converted into a Hostel. We enjoyed the close location to the Cliffs of Moher, the pubs & shops in Doolin and other fantastic sights.

Review 54:I would definitely stay here again, the staff was so casual and accommodating, the other guests were as if they had known you for years, waiting by the fire to hear about your night! There are lockers in the room to lock things up if necessary, optional cleaning service included if you want your room tidied, the location couldn't be better, walking distance to everywhere in Doolin. The beds are a little warn and it can get noisy- but that is what you sign up for in a hostel. I cannot express how welcoming it was, truly felt like you were entering a friend's living room to a warm fire, tea, and chat. Absolutely loved it, cannot wait to go back!

Review 55:- Location; right in between the center town of Doolin and the docks. - Friendly and helpful staff - Clean kitchen, lounge area, bathrooms, bedroom and linens - Comfortable bed - Free parking

Review 67:This is the first hostel I've stayed in so I'm not sure if this is normal, but I thought it was odd that we were requested to mop the bathroom floor after showering. We did have a private bathroom though so maybe this is just what you do in hostels?

Review 68:This hostel was cute and homey. The staff was helpful and the rooms were cozy. We even had an old fashioned skeleton key for our room! Adorable!

Review 69:I didn't like the fact there was only one socket in the room,as a group of girls this was not ideal.

Review 70:I loved the location and look of the place, also the receptionist was extremely kind and helpful, everything was also spotless which is a big plus

Review 71:Everything was great. The weather was wonderful. The sandy beach on the island was full of dolphins that wanted to be petted...find out for yourself what a great place is...I recommend STRONGLY you stay here!!!
